Anyone else due January 2023?! Found out yesterday I'm pregnant with baby #2. If my dates are right, I'm 3+6, due 27th January! My daughters a Jan baby, but was due feb (she was 3 weeks early). May just must be a very fertile month for us! We fell pregnant last May too, but never met them😢.

@TokenGinger I haven't really spoken about how disconnected I feel this time around so it's nice to finally open up! I do wonder if I'd feel better knowing the sex or not.. was adamant I wanted a surprise and now I fele bad calling the baby 'it'...

Totally agree about the drink, it was actually quite nice to have a drink haha. I was anxious about fainting again but the woman who did my bloods was superb thankfully! Now the waiting game. I really hope I don't have it 😕

LA9610 · 10/10/2022 10:00

Hi everyone! Don't think i've posted on here since July 😮Don't know where the time actually has gone but I had completely forgotten about mumsnet tbh and then I randomly got a notification today for the first time in months?!

Hope you are all fine and keeping well! I am 28 weeks tomorrow which just seems crazy. We had a 4D scan at 25+5 which was lovely, we didn't find out the gender but we got a heartbeat teddy and some cute pics of the face, it's our first so we were happy to pay for that extra peace of mind before we went to Mallorca for a little baby moon the next day :)

Last week I ended up getting another NHS scan, I had phoned triage about feeling no movements for 24 hrs and they told me to go in, had a CTG done which showed normal but they sent me for a growth scan anyway. All looked fine and baby is on the big side they said (not really a surpise as DH and I are both tall) but they said i'm at the max limit for the amount of amniotic fluid they expect you to have so I need to go back next week for another scan to re-measure, so will see baby again at 29 weeks :) Anyone ever had any issues with amniotic fluid levels?

Due date is 3rd January and i'm finishing up on the 22nd Dec using A/L over Christmas and then my maternity starts on my due date so i'll return in January 2024. How long is everyone planning to take off?

So far i've gained about 9 or 10lbs which is surprising given the baby is almost 3lbs and i'm carrying so much fluid apparently but i'll take it haha. I've been squeezing into my pre-preg clothes but have just started buying a few like longer, baggier tops and soft jeggings in a bigger size that i'll can still wear afterwards. Don't really see the point in buying actual maternity stuff now with only 12 weeks to go so hopefully I can get by until baby is here.

How organised are you all? I feel like we've got most of the big stuff ticked off but at the same time feels like i've not really bought that much! My sister surpised me with a baby shower on Saturday so we did get lots of lovely things there which was nice, I was so shocked haha I wasn't planning to have one as I'm not really a party person, hate the spotlight etc but it was pretty lowkey, just in her house with family and friends and I really enjoyed it/ appreciated all the effort she went to!

lilroo87 · 10/10/2022 10:03

@TokenGinger @CJones11 I am exactly the same this time round. We did find out the sex but I also never really think about being pregnant unless I've stopped for 5 minutes and feel him move.
It's so different to when I was pregnant with DD but I had all the time in the world to be excited and think about everything whereas now I'm running around after DD and all consumed with her really.
My diabetes test is next Friday, I remember last time that the drink didn't really taste of anything but the waiting around with no food was so tough. Fingers crossed your results both come back normal

CJones11 · 10/10/2022 10:19

@LA9610

Hey, welcome back!
I guess the silver lining about your fluid levels is that you'll be able to see baby more:)

I haven't bought anything yet, due 2nd of Jan. I've made some orders but not picked anything up yet. Makes it more difficult because we are in the last stages of renovating and would love to be in the new house before baby comes so that is stealing all cash right now.

I will only be having 4 months off unfortunately. I'm the main earner and we wouldn't survive when my wage drops to just statutory so I'll be going back and my partner will stay home.

That's lovely to have a baby shower. I had a surprise one with my first and it was so special to have all Mt loved ones with me😇

CJones11 · 10/10/2022 10:21

@lilroo87 I am very tempted to find out tomorrow. I think maybe names will come easier to me then too!

Midwife said I should find out tomorrow if I have it or not. Not hoping right now as this baby is measuring so big and my first always measured small.

You're so right about not thinking about it until you get a moments peace to breath and then you feel movements which reminds you!

CJones11 · 10/10/2022 10:23

@LA9610 also, I'm too afraid to weigh myself at the moment haha.

I don't think I've gained a whole lot. Not really bought any maternity clothes except comfy black leggings. I'm hoping I'll be able to last without buying maternity clothes but as a teacher I'm starting to struggle for decent outfits that fit 🙈

lilroo87 · 10/10/2022 10:39

@CJones11 hopefully it's good news.
Yeah it's helpful knowing cause now we can try and think of names. I only had girls names as was sure I was having another girl but apparently boy so luckily I have time to think of names.
Was hoping to use a lot of DD's clothes as I kept all of them (she's only 14 months though so not too bad).
Now it's a boy we're trying to get clothes sorted. I've only bought a couple of bits as we got a huge bundle of 0-3 months on marketplace for £15 and there is about 50 sleepsuits in there along with joggers and tops, coats and everything. Way more than we expected when I went to collect it.
Feel a bit bad buying a lot more second hand but actually wished we'd done that with DD as they grow out of everything so fast.

LA9610 · 10/10/2022 10:45

@CJones11 I can sympathise with the renovations, we renovated our house a couple of years ago. I actually couldn't imagine doing that now whilst pregnant so I take my hat off to you! Got my fingers crossed you get moved before baby comes :)

Yeah we have ordered pram and i've bought some baby-grows, we're quite lucky we've been given quite a lot of stuff from my SIL and a close friend who have had babies recently but it's their last so they no longer need them like a Next2me Magic crib which i've just bought a new mattress for, 2n1 swing/rocker, a sleigh crib that just needs a new mattress as well and some smaller bits so I feel like we've managed to save quite a money on things. We also aren't buying any 'baby' furniture as we have built in wardrobes and a chest of drawers in the nursery room that we can use as a changing station already.

I work in an office so i've bought a couple of long-sleeved, stretch midi non-maternity dresses from Tesco which will still be suitable to wear afterwards, maybe try something like that if you aren't in dire need of proper maternity-wear! I'd even wear them with chunky boots like going out for lunch or tea over the winter so will get wear out of them.

Have you all had a specific reason to get diabetes test? As far as I am aware i'm not having one, it's never been mentioned to me and i've 28 week midwife appointment tomorrow and not getting it there either, just a regular blood test.

I agree, it is good to speak to somebody else who's feeling the same. We do know the sex and that hasn't made me feel anymore connected. Maybe it's just because we know what we're expecting and so we're just plodding on as a matter of course x

Awww how lovely of your sister to organise a baby shower for you! ❤️

I feel so disorganised this time about but I think it's just complacency because I know we have the big stuff from DS. I think I actually need to do a list of what we've got and anything outstanding that we need.

I think mine works out at about 10.5 months off. I finish at Christmas and go back at the start of November xx

The way your word it is perfectly right! I can only dream of being as "busy" as I thought I was in pregnancy one where I had all of the time in the world to pay attention to his movements 😂

Eeejjj · 10/10/2022 11:02

I can't believe we're either in our third trimester or almost there! I'm 27+2 today!

Me and my partner are really well prepare and we have more or less everything now. What we don't have we've put on a register for our baby shower.

I've had so many worries for my first pregnancy, my blood type is O- so I have to have an injection on Friday so my blood doesn't attack my babies. They were certain my baby's head was small so I was having growth scans where the head was on the 5th percentile and my belly was measuring 25cm so my midwife was concerned about that, so she booked me in for an urgent scan - fortunately this scan showed that my baby's head is actually on the 38th percentile. The positioning affected the measurement and everything is perfect

Now just to decide on baby names ... because I'm keeping the gender a surprise I find it much more difficult to come up with names

TokenGinger · 10/10/2022 11:04

@LA9610 Sorry, I missed the question re: diabetes test. I've had mine as I'm overweight - that'll teach me for not losing the baby weight from DS!

Did they offer you a blood test at 16 weeks to find out baby's blood group? I'm rhesus negative too but at 16 weeks, they did a blood test and found that baby is also rhesus negative so thankfully I didn't have to have the jab. Though I did have it in early pregnancy when I had a bleed before we knew her blood group and it was bloody painful.

It's not that your blood would attack baby's, it's that baby's would attack yours. If baby is positive, it means there's a risk the protein from their blood could pass over to you in delivery and your body would then create antibodies, which can cause problems in future pregnancies.

It blew my mind when I researched it in my first pregnancy. Like, it's so bloody dangerous but it's not common knowledge! I had absolutely no idea.

Yours is the most sought after blood! My mum is O- too and has to carry a green card with her in case of an accident because your blood group can't receive any other blood donations if needed, whereas anybody can receive your blood group! ❤️

CJones11 · 11/10/2022 13:38

Results back, no diabetes😁

Also for the user who asked, I have close family with diabetes and I was overweight at my 12 week scan so had to have the test!

Eeejjj · 12/10/2022 12:10

@TokenGinger lucky! My baby is positive, so unfortunately another injection for me - I feel like I've been poked and prodded so many times and my fear of needles hasn't eased up. I could cry each time.

I've decided after pregnancy I will start to donate my blood as I know how important my blood type is now!

Laurzz · 20/10/2022 08:13

Hey everyone!

It's been a while, but life has been a whirlwind at the moment.

That's us just starting to prepare for baby for now. I've purchased some of the essentials and also been given a few bits from family etc. I bought a few bits from Shien last night for my hospital bag, any 'musts' I should consider?

I'm just in my 3rd trimester but it's scary when I think I only have 11 weeks left 😬. I finish up mid-December for maternity leave. I've got a routine blood appointment with the Midwife today and my bump will be measured for the first time. Everyone tells me my bump is small so will be interesting to see where i measure. I'm struggling with the anterior placenta, some days i feel good strong movement others i feel very little. I've not worried so much i've gone in for reduced movement and just trusting my gut instinct.

Anyway, so glad to hear everyone is doing well and wishing you all the best 💞. Ps i'm going to try do a better job to keep up with the thread.

Razputini · 20/10/2022 14:21

Hello 😊 I was wondering if I was going to see any January 2023 threads eventually! I'm due on the 6th. How is everyone getting on? I feel like time is going so slow, I still get quite nauseous sometimes but thank goodness I've never had any actual vomiting during this pregnancy. I've got emetophobia (fear of vomiting) that started as a teen, went away for a long time but seems to have cropped back up during this pregnancy due to the nausea and im guessing hormones, as some days I just don't feel right - very emotional which is not like me. We must be around the same data @Laurzz as I'll be due in 11 weeks tomorrow.

I've got a 2 year old girl as well and I'm so excited for her to meet the new baby and become a big sister - she loves acting like a grown up and having responsibility so I think certain aspects like washing the baby and changing the nappies she will love to get involved with. And I can't wait to see if this next one is like her or completely different! I would love if they're a better sleeper at least omg 😬

VixenAndCub · 20/10/2022 18:56

Nice to hear from you guys on updates! Think we're all in, or very close to our 3rd trimester now. Scary to think how quick it's gone! I've blinked and we're almost at the end of October!

I'm glad my nausea went, but my God my PGP/SPD is back with a vengeance from the last pregnancy. It's absolute agony to walk, which is upsetting since I'll be in pain when taking my 3.5 year old pumpkin picking, seeing our areas free fireworks show, Christmas shopping etc.
Also my Raynaud's of the nips has returned as well, which is hell now that it's getting colder.... Everything's just pain, eh? Anyone here know how to deal with these things? Paracetamol won't touch it and they won't give me walking aids, yet will have me for 6 months of physio after the baby is born 😒

I'm feeling deathly behind on things this time around. I have a lot of baby gear leftover from my son, but i need some new things for him to move into so I can have the old stuff. ie the wardrobe and cotbed.

Lots of movements. Not sure if it's because the placenta is in the back, but I've felt her so much more than my son. Placenta is also low so I'll be having another scan in a month to see if it's moved, hoping it has because I don't fancy bleeding complications or a C-section...

How has everyone else been? Settled on names yet? We're going for Lily, after my fiance's grandmother 😊

Razputini · 21/10/2022 08:00

@VixenAndCub that sounds so fustrating that you're in so much pain. It's difficult when you feel like you can't be there as much for your older kids too or trips out because of pregnancy complications. Here's hoping with all the buzz of Halloween and Christmas our pregnancies fly by. I feel like each day I'm just trying to distract myself, to get one more day out of the way and one day closer to getting this baby out! I had such an easy pregnancy with my first which I absolutely taken for granted...

Lily is such a lovely name too by the way 😊 we were thinking about the same, and considering names along the same sort of lines e.g. Lilian after my nana. We both really liked Lilith but when we looked up the meaning - there's no way we can use it lol!!! Especially as my side of the family is very religious 😂 it means demon/evil second wife of Adam from the Bible! 😳😳 Guess we'll just have to keep thinking, there's been a few nights we've sat down for an hour and thought about names but nothing feels right. My daughter's name is Maxy

VixenAndCub · 21/10/2022 08:19

@Razputini My pregnancy with my son was difficult too but it wasn't a real struggle until the last month or so - this one has been trouble since 6 weeks, and the SPD and Raynaud's are as bad now at 6 months as they were when I was 8 months with my son. How I'm going to survive winter with Raynaud's I don't know... I'm just glad the Mr and I have always agreed on two kids so I never have to do this again! Think a 3rd pregnancy may just finish me off.

We were playing with the idea of Lily-Ann at one point, but figured we may as well go Lilian which would deter from her namesake since she was just Lily. It's so disappointing Lilith has those roots because its a really lovely name 😩 My son is Noah, we just prefer short names it seems!

lilroo87 · 21/10/2022 09:12

I'm in for my gestational diabetes test this morning. Only an hour and 20 minutes left until I have the next set of bloods and then can eat and have my coffee.....I can't wait!
My test with my last pregnancy was negative so hopefully this one will be aswell.

I'm 26 weeks tomorrow and it feels like it's flying by but I think it's because I'm so busy with DD!

Laurzz · 21/10/2022 09:38

@Razputini hello and welcome 🙂. We have the same due date, I'm exactly 29 weeks today. I had sickness at the start but haven't been sick since 20 weeks so hopefully doesn't make a return 🤞. Do you know what your having? This is our first but don't know the sex. Hormones have alot to answer for 😂.

@VixenAndCub sorry to hear your having a rough time. I don't really have any advice but I'm sure someone in here will have experienced something similar. Lily is a lovely name. We haven't actually got any names 😣.

@lilroo87 good luck! I've not had the teat or been asked to have one yet but heard it can be horrible.

Xx

lilroo87 · 21/10/2022 09:50

@Laurzz luckily my GP surgery have an unflavoured sugar drink so it doesn't taste bad atleast. It's just the waiting around for hours with no food that's the hardest bi
