TTC24 · 19/05/2022 09:32

Anyone else due January 2023?! Found out yesterday I'm pregnant with baby #2. If my dates are right, I'm 3+6, due 27th January! My daughters a Jan baby, but was due feb (she was 3 weeks early). May just must be a very fertile month for us! We fell pregnant last May too, but never met them😢.

@lilroo87 I had my diabetes test yesterday actually! Had to do it at the hospital... Last time there were these lovely arm chairs, now it's just plastic seats. Sitting on them for 2 hours was not fun. I went straight to Costa afterwards though as a treat 😆 I was negative during my last pregnancy too, so fingers crossed we both come out negative this time too!

lilroo87 · 21/10/2022 10:55

@VixenAndCub fingers crossed they are negative.
Oh no, I got to sit in my car last time but this time has to stay in the waiting room and it was so uncomfortable. I'm home with a coffee now and probably going to have a chocolate muffin as a treat 🤣

Razputini · 21/10/2022 15:52

@VixenAndCub ah yes it does seem to be from what I've heard that each consecutive pregnancy comes with worse symptoms :( and you're right the idea of going through winter isn't appealing. I didn't plan my pregnancy but if it was planned I would have definitely tried to avoid the winter months 😬 all the cold and darkness just makes you feel worse imo. Lily and Noah sounds super cute together btw!

@lilroo87 how was your test? I've got mine on Wednesday, there's a bit too much fluid around the baby so they're wanting to check for diabetes. I'm quite worried about it though as I start getting really nauseous if I don't eat often, something I had bad in the first trimester that's come back. That combined with my fear of vomiting and hearing some people have felt really sick/vomited from the glucose drink is making me quite anxious about it 😟

@Laurzz hi and thank you 🙂 nice to talk to someone with exactly the same due date wow! should be another girl, but I know too many people who had scans that turned out wrong so I'm preparing for either just in case 😂 that'll be a nice surprise for you when yours is born, I wish I had to patience to keep it a secret!

VixenAndCub · 21/10/2022 16:15

@Razputini I only have myself to blame. I planned this pregnancy - but it took a year. Which we weren't expecting since planning our son only took 4 cycles. We were taking a break to avoid around the Christmas holidays, have a mental health break because it was getting depressing and just to rekindle in general... Thought we were safely out the fertile window but...Nope! Baby! We were planning for a Feb onwards baby but got January. Just hope she doesn't show up early and end up in December 😆 already have 4 birthdays and the holidays in Dec. Though the only good thing about having a winter baby, the family are doing all the Christmas running around and cooking so I can put my feet up 😆

lilroo87 · 21/10/2022 17:00

@Razputini it was actually fine, I was much worse with the test in my first pregnancy. I ate a lot up until 10pm last night to combat the lack of food in the morning 🤣 I think that may have helped.
It's a lot to drink so just go slow with it especially as you are getting nausea. Hopefully you get an unflavoured drink cause they aren't bad at all, I've heard bad things about the flavoured ones.
Try not to feel anxious about it as they will probably make your nausea worse, easier said than done I know. The worst bit is waiting around cause it drags. Take a book or something, I forgot today so only had my phone and the absolute chaos of the gp waiting surgery which was interesting haha.
Hope it goes well!

LA9610 · 25/10/2022 17:00

Eek 10 weeks to go today!! Anyone else starting to get impatient? It feels like time is passing quickly and slowly at the same time which is weird. I think i'm just starting to now let myself get excited so the impatience is really setting in.

We've not settled on a name, we have a finalised list which has names for male and female but I don't think we are actually going to pick one until the baby is here. We are currently in disagreement about middle name for a female - my DH wants to use Margaret as that's his mums name (it's also my grans name as well), however his sister has already used Margaret as a middle name for her first born so it's already been used plus it's a pretty old-fashioned name which I just feel doesn't really suit any of the female names we have listed. Anyone had similar issues with not agreeing over a name?

CJones11 · 25/10/2022 20:19

@LA9610 I'm also on the 10 week countdown as of yesterday eek!! Feeling really unprepared.

We had a wonderful 4D scan on the weekend, third one in fact as baby wouldn't show us their face. Our son wanted to know the sex of this baby and we were told girl. I still feel really strange about it because I've imagined myself as a boy mother! We have a list of names but won't pick until they arrive.

Regarding your middle name dilemma, I'd say maybe speak to your partner about starting your own tradition or honouring his mother in another way through the name I.e. nickname or letting her choose the middle name?

I had a midwife appointment today and have escalated growth so have been booked in for a scan on Thursday. Hoping it's just the size me and not the baby. I'm also 3/5 engaged which I can absolutely feel with the pressure haha. I think I nay start maternity earlier than anticipated with the discomfort of SPD this time around.

Hope everyone else is well😊

VixenAndCub · 25/10/2022 23:36

Little question; has anyone here been induced in a previous pregnancy?

I met up with my consultant today and he is going to advise, if the rest of the team working on me agree, to induce me early. So I may be closer to New Year's than the 16th Jan (due date). He said I'm suffering so much I would only benefit from having the baby early. Of course, unless things get worse (wouldn't be a surprise) we're still going for full term. She'll be 2 weeks early which is still very healthy. As much as I am struggling, the last thing I want is my daughter to suffer too. Right now she's healthy.

Basically everything hurt. From my head, even my teeth, to my breasts, Raynaud's of the nipples, back pain - tailbone especially, PGP/SPD yet again and so on. It's 24/7, chronic pain. If it wasn't for my appointments I'd be bedridden.

So if it does come to this, what is being induced like? I had a natural progression last time so I have no clue.

Pickle0901 · 26/10/2022 08:43

Hey everyone,
Sorry to see some of you are struggling/in pain.
There really is nothing worse. Especially as you're cooking such a precious little person too...

I'm actually feeling quite well and energetic. I seem to keep going and then I just get sudden exhaustion and have to sleep! But on the whole I'm feeling quite lucky because the first 16/18 weeks were just horrendous, so I have done a bit of a u-turn. I'm 27 weeks now and I've been told that 3rd trimester can be hard. I've still so much to do to get ready. Haven't sorted the nursery or buying the pram or car seat or anything and I'm really starting to get that nesting feeling where I just want work and social plans to stop so we can focus on it. But work is super busy. I'm having to travel a lot and socials are busy!

I got quite stressed yesterday and said I don't want so many plans because when it gets to it, it doesn't feel so convenient.... but then I think I'm just being impatient....

I also have diabetes test next Monday, so not looking forward to that but guess it's necessary. I don't know anyone who's had it done and actually got it, so I don't know what happens if I have it... Guess I'll worry about that at the time.

Xx

lilroo87 · 26/10/2022 09:44

@VixenAndCub so sorry to hear you are having so much pain. I had PGP with my first pregnancy and have got it on and off this time aswell so I really feel for you with all of the extra pain you're having.
I wasn't induced last time so I don't have any advice I'm afraid but didn't want to read and run.

@Pickle0901 yes, I was very much like that in my last pregnancy. First trimester was awful, second wasn't too bad and third was tough just because of how big my bump was and it was summer so my feet were so swollen that I could barely walk. I'm hoping this time won't be so bad as it's winter so my feet might stay normal sized 🤣
I had my diabetes test last Friday but I haven't had my results yet as our GP surgery phone lines are down. I'm seeing midwife next week so might wait until then.
I didn't have it last time but if you do have it then you have to monitor your sugar everyday and just be careful with what you eat I think. Hope it goes ok

Razputini · 26/10/2022 09:50

I feel for you @VixenAndCub I'm sorry you're having such a rough time. I can't imagine how sore you are, I would feel the same if I were you. I'm glad they're understanding how you feel and looking into inducing you. Hopefully someone will come along with some experience with induction who can reassure you

@Pickle0901 I'm actually in the waiting room right now after having the glucose drink for the diabetes test. Like another poster said before me it's actually not the bad! I had the unflavoured stuff. Still got another 2 hours though so we'll see if I get nauseous or I'm alright. Ive brought some fruit and a Gregg's bacon and omlette roll to tuck into asap afterwards 😁

Laurzz · 26/10/2022 12:56

Good luck to everyone waiting on their diabetes test results or about to do the test.

@Pickle0901 I was the same the first trimester was nasty and the third one has been ok (so far). My sleep is very broken due to being uncomfortable but I guess I better get used to it 😂. I really feel for you all who are having a hard third trimester. It scares me to think i only have 10 weeks left, it only feels like yesterday was my 12-week scan. I'm going to write a list tonight of everything for mine and babies hospital bag.

We currently have a boy's name but no name for a girl. I'm tempted to just wait until baby is here before we have another discussion on names - i find them painful 😫.

VgerEdney · 26/10/2022 17:20

Pickle0901 and all others with glucose test. Just had mine today. Had the sweet sweet stuff. Even I found it too much but a cup and a half of the plastic cup type had it down. My start number was 5 which I believe is normal after fasting. After they told me no news is good news so I hope not to hear from them in the next week or two.
I'm having to self inject the anti clotting thing from Friday til 6 weeks after baby is born. Die to my high BMI and age (40). My first baby so all new to me. I have a bit of heartburn now but just got some meds prescribed by doctors so hoping that helps with that!! 28 weeks and counting!!!!
Also got a bad knee and am hobbling around at home and work

Razputini · 26/10/2022 19:25

@VgerEdney hello and congrats on your pregnancy 😊 if you got prescribed peptac I got that with my first and I've been using it now with my second and I found it helped a lot. I hate that it's pink I find that somewhat off putting though lol. Fingers crossed our diabetes test come back negative

VixenAndCub · 26/10/2022 20:34

Does anyone know if we'll hear about a negative diabetes test? Maybe it depends on area, but some people have told me I'll get a letter saying the result, others that if I don't hear anything that it's a negative. 'no news is good news' kind of thing. Or will I find out at my next midwife appointment?
Hoping it's negative! Got enough going on, as now my dentist wants to try and do a bunch of appointments giving me a root canal... Apparently the constant sickness at the beginning destroyed my tooth enough to allow for an infection to settle in. Could take weeks to sort out... Course it's timed when I'm supposed to be resting. Could end up breaking waters in the dentist chair at this rate 😆

I had my midwife appointment yesterday and I told her I'd not heard back from the diabetes test two weeks ago. She said no news is good news and they'd only get in touch if it was positive x

TokenGinger · 26/10/2022 21:59

@LA9610 We've had similar with the middle name, though my DP suggested it be after his middle name but the female version. Baby will have a Yoruba name and DP's surname so I'm not happy to have a middle name after him, too, particularly a name I don't like. Within DP's culture, it's quite common for people to go by their Christian/Biblical middle name as they get older, or at least they have the choice to if they want to, so I want to make sure she has a name I love in case she decides that.

@CJones11 The same with me in that I only see myself as a boy mum! I've known her sex for 18 weeks now and it still doesn't feel real that we have a little girl on the way. She is also measuring large, over the 91st centile, which is no surprise as DS was a big baby. It's interesting you mention re the SPD, because I am suffering immensely with it. The midwife said yesterday that she's engaged and head is deep into the pelvis and resting on it, and given she's a heavier weight, it'll feel all the more uncomfortable. It sounds like we're in the same position.

@Pickle0901 I hit 28 weeks on Monday, and up until last weekend, I've felt so sprightly and full of energy, but as of last Saturday, I've felt absolutely exhausted like I did in the first trimester and SPD/PGP has set in. I'm so surprised by how quickly the change came. I'd definitely cut down on commitments if you can so that you don't crash and burn.

icecreamgirl94 · 01/11/2022 20:47

Hi everyone, can I join in?
Due with baby number two on 26th Jan. Only shared our news with family and close friends today, bump has become pretty impossible to hide. DH says he doesn’t think it’s that big but I feel huge! How is everyone else doing?

lilroo87 · 01/11/2022 21:01

Congratulations @icecreamgirl94
My due date is close to yours with the 28th Jan and also second baby.
How are you feeling?
I've got a growth scan on Friday as I had a Low PAPP-A hormone detected at my 12 week scan so now booked in for growth scans as it can hamper babies growth. I'm on aspirin everyday for it.
Had a midwife appointment today and all sounds good, luckily no gestational diabetes aswell so that's good.

Has anyone else had their GD test results back yet?

icecreamgirl94 · 01/11/2022 22:02

@lilroo87 congratulations to you too 😊 Ooh we are very close together, I wonder who will be first! Was your first baby earlier or later than due date? I’m feeling okay thank you, nervous but overall fine, expecting the tiredness to hit me full force any day now though! How are you doing?

VixenAndCub · 02/11/2022 00:04

@TokenGinger
Reading your reply about being a boy mum, I feel the same! I have my 3 year old son, now expecting a daughter. I'm so scared though! I've always been more comfortable with the idea of having boys than girls, girls scare the heck out of me. I hear they're so much harder to raise - but I hope that's not true. It's going to be so weird having a little girl in the house - I've been the only girl in this house for years 😆 even our dog is a boy! Also the SPD thing, all I was told was 'wear a pregnancy belt'. I have. For ages. Done sweet FA.

Anyone here with daughters - has it really been as scary as people make it out to be? I hear the tantrums are so much worse than the boys.

I had the midwife appointment yesterday and she said she hasn't seen anything on the system either so I take it as a negative for the diabetes - thank God. Like I need anything else going on. Low on iron though. The branded pregnancy supplements are so expensive. I found a bottle of 90 iron tablets in Wilko for £1.50 - surely that's the same thing right? Already taking Healthy Start vitamins, it's just the iron I need. Saves me spending £20+ for the next 3 months on Pregnacare.

PopsicleHustler · 02/11/2022 04:38

What a lovely thread:) good morning mums.
6 time champ here, lol.

I am due 6th Jan with baby number 6...
I literally just had baby number 5, January 2021. So happy as this is a boy, and we already have 3 girls and 2 boys and this little man makes us 3 of each
I had a rotten childhood and always dreamt when I grow up, i would have a big family and give my children the best. And then I met my man, who also dreamt of a big family. So perfect!
I am so excited.... we have a name already!

I am measuring 3 weeks ahead, baby is huge and I have lost a tonne of weight. He must be literally getting all my food before it gets to me. I am so so hungry all the time.
Hoping for a water birth, however due to the fact I could be induced at 37 weeks and my bmi is just over 35, advised by my consultant, I might not get that.

Anyone else having growth scans???? I am having them due to daughter number one , born in 2013 being only 5lb4 at birth. But this little monkey is having growth scans because at 28 weeks he was almost at 4lbs. He's a big lad.

lilroo87 · 02/11/2022 08:48

@icecreamgirl94 will be interest to see. My first was 2 days early and she definitely wanted to get out, first contraction was at 3am and she was born by 10am so maybe this one will be faster.
I am already feeling pretty tired but my DD keeps me on my toes (she's 15 months).

@VixenAndCub I have heard that boys are easier and apparently my next is a boy so will be interesting to see. My DD is a barnacle so has been quite a tough year with her. She started mini tantrums around 12 months and now at 15 months they are getting worse, I just keep putting it down to her frustration at not being able to tell us what's up.
Good shout on the iron tablets in wilko as my iron is starting to get low but midwife suggested taking floradix and it's £12 a bottle. I've got some Pregnacare left but with my last pregnancy I just took the vitamin D separately and then was on iron tablets aswell.

lilroo87 · 02/11/2022 08:52

@PopsicleHustler congratulations! Wow, how do you manage with 5? I struggle with my 1 and panicking a bit on how I'll cope with 2 especially with the close age range (my daughter will be 18 months when our little boy is born).

I have my first growth scan this Friday as I had a low hormone at my 12 week scan. It'll be nice to be able to see more of baby this time as it's such a long time after 20 weeks to birth.
My DD was born at 6lb14 2 days early so I'm kind of hoping this baby will also be quite small.

I'm hoping for a home birth and originally thought of water but actually I don't think I'm that bothered, would just be nice to be at home especially as our hospital is an hour away

VixenAndCub · 02/11/2022 09:39

@PopsicleHustler
I had growth scans with my first pregnancy because I was on medication so they wanted to keep an eye, but it all worked out. I'm having another scan at 32 weeks (near the end of this month) this time around just to check the placenta position. Since both my kids seemed to enjoy planting it super low down...

@lilroo87
Damn, so there is truth to it. My son has been a near joy to raise, aside the occasional hair pulling he's been a very chill baby, and now at 3.5 he's a great kid. I can't help but feel I won't bond as well with my daughter if she's going to be so hyper-emotional all the time. I can handle a tantrum here and there, God knows my son can throw a good'un, but on a very regular basis? Doesn't help there was a bit of a wall between my own mum and me growing up. I watched her dote on my brother but be very strict with me. Don't want history to repeat itself of course, but I've heard girls aren't very affectionate anyway so maybe that's just how things are... Just hope with my partner's help it'll work out.
