TTC24 · 19/05/2022 09:32

Anyone else due January 2023?! Found out yesterday I'm pregnant with baby #2. If my dates are right, I'm 3+6, due 27th January! My daughters a Jan baby, but was due feb (she was 3 weeks early). May just must be a very fertile month for us! We fell pregnant last May too, but never met them😢.

@TokenGinger
Until I caught in May, I was trying for over a year for this baby, my fiancé and I agreed to take a bit of a break to avoid Dec/Jan birthday and to help us mentally because we were falling apart. But had one night, didn't think too much of it since I wasn't tracking that cycle and it had failed so much in the past - but low and behold, Im pregnant. There was no way we were going to end it after all this trial and error over a January due date and some snarky comments. I do wish for a Jan baby simply for her sake, to not always get roped into Christmas all the time. But I will be standing up for her if she does come earlier and people start avoiding her birthday because of the holidays.

TokenGinger · 02/09/2022 10:07

@VixenAndCub Our stories are so similar! It's so strange that we have the same due date, too. We'd also agreed to not put pressure on ourselves that month because our son was going in for an operation. My ovulation date should have been the day of his operation and we just knew we didn't need any additional pressure of making sure we made time for us whilst we focussed on him. So we DTD once in that 1-2 week window, which was 2 days before my predicted ovulation and we caught.

It's so strange that after trying for so long, the minute we take the pressure off ourselves, it happened!

@TokenGinger
It's rather cool we can relate to each other even down to the due date! When I first did the test and used a due date calculator, it said the 21st Jan - but the dating scan moved it forward. Fiancé and I looked at each other because it didn't fit in place with the timings of my usual ovulation but hey ho. Maybe it just happened slightly earlier than month and I wasn't tracking so didn't notice.

I was told so many times by different people 'it'll happen naturally, you don't have to do all this' but I believed that tracking/ovulation strips were the way. Didn't say that I took a break to my mother, or I'll never hear the end of it 😆 "I told you so!!"

DanceWithYourBalloon · 02/09/2022 12:20

@TokenGinger Just ready for the world. He was 7lbs so was a decent size considering.

I almost want a Christmas baby as my boys were born late Jan and early Feb. It would be nice to break the birthdays up a bit. 😂

This happened with my DS. I had a few early scans and by what should have been my 12 week scan based on the dates given on the early scans, he then measured 13+1, but he was just a big baby. They explained to me that just 1mm in size difference at that stage can bring the due date forward so that explains why he'd jumped ahead a bit.

The same with this one too. Based on my period dates, I would be due 18th Jan, but got the 16th at the scan xx

I am quite the opposite and I'm very excited of the prospect of having the baby around Christmas/ New Year. My due date is 09 Jan so I hope for a Christmas baby, it would be a wonderful present:)

I don't understand how the family/ friends could have an opinion on your due date and if it is convenient to them or not...These things can't really be planned, so such comments and putting pressure on you is totally unnecessary.

I'm not really sure it's about convenience or not, but just the stigma attached to Christmas birthdays. My dad was born Christmas Day and has never experienced a birthday. His day never feels about him, but more a joint celebration for everybody. My partner's birthday is mid-December and he's always disliked his birthday. Again, overshadowed by festivities, people not having the spare money to go for a meal a celebrate, receiving joint presents for both Christmas and birthday.

My friend's daughter (in her 20s) has a 2nd Jan birthday and her friends are always skint from Christmas and celebrating New Year, and she said she often gets presents that she thinks are unwanted Christmas gifts re wrapped as she knows it's not something her friends would choose for her.

I suppose all of those tales have put me off me wanting my little one experiencing the same. My birthday was always made special by my mum so I'd hate for baby's to be overshadowed by Christmas, but I'll be super conscious of that fact and make sure I make it special for her xx

Hey, what's everyone's maternity leave start date? I held off telling work until the last minute and I'm not sure when I should start it, my due date is 7th Jan.

Hey, what's everyone's maternity leave start date? I held off telling work until the last minute and I'm not sure when I should start it, my due date is 7th Jan.

I'm due on the 16th Jan. I have booked annual leave from the 21st December (purely for childcare purposes over Christmas for DS1). My maternity leave will kick in on 9th Jan, so 1 week before my due date, but I'll actually finish at around 36.5 weeks.

I'd happily work to my due date. I finished a bit later with DS1, but Christmas makes it a bit complicated as there's very little point returning on 3rd Jan when we re-open as it's less than two weeks until my due date.

Brightonbelle87 · 14/09/2022 11:41

Hi everyone, reading from a distance but haven't posted in ages.

Congratulations on all the scans and kicks! I'm now 24 weeks and we found out we're having a boy and he's kicking and moving so much - and pushing on my bladder!

I was wondering whether people have started to make birth plans for types of pain relief, planned inductions or c-sections etc.? I'm a high risk pregnancy and just want to reassure myself I can ask for things and be listened to. So far the consultants are very wait and see, don't worry for now etc. And it's just starting to feel quite patronising. How are others planning or dealing with this?

LR89 · 14/09/2022 13:25

Hey, I’m due 26th jan and plan to use up some corroded over annual leave and finish 10th jan so I’ll have just over 2 weeks until the due date ☺️

Pickle0901 · 14/09/2022 13:44

Hi everyone,
Glad to see you're all doing well.... funny I've been having similar convos, firstly around the due date potentially being near to Christmas (nothing much we can do about it but kinda hope they arrive due date or later, which is 21st Jan). Mainly so I'm ready too and we have a bit of time off work to get everything in place for her.

Secondly, we had a loss last New Years Day and for a while I was so down about it and we put so much pressure on ourselves (mainly me regarding age and the fact it had never happened in years) but then as soon as I saw my doctor and he put my mind at ease and started the process of bloods and various tests to set about IVF if we needed some help, it happened naturally when I least expected it & wasn't even checking or tracking.

And third bit of news, we finally on 4th attempt were told they THINK it's a girl... she moves around so much that they were almost chasing her round and couldn't get a clear view but there were 2 sonographers and both thought girl, which correlates with how I've felt for months now... here's a sneak preview...

Love hearing all your updates xxx

Baby January 2023!
VgerEdney · 14/09/2022 21:24

Hello all,

I'm due on Jan 2023, my first baby and I'm 40. Partner is younger. I know it's a boy, I'm finding boy names quite hard so far. I had a rough first trimester, felt sick most days altho only actually sick four times really. Now that's gone but I'm getting heartburn quite a bit. This was planned and I'm looking forward to it but also it's all new. I've got a 10 year old nephew and a 7 year old neice who I looked after a lot and have worked in care and with some children so I have experience but obvs this will feel a lot more different.
I'm still working altho I told them early on, I'm not sure when I should start my maternity leave yet. I do have some holiday owing so need to use that up first as ends in March the holiday period.
I have felt baby move around, esp when driving and in evenings. 🙂

I'm also due Jan 7th. I'm starting my maternity leave on 3rd Jan but with holiday to use will be off work from the 18th December. Just to work out my return date now!

VixenAndCub · 20/09/2022 19:52

Hey everyone, hope you have all been well through our second trimester!
Fiancé and I have finally settled on a name for our girl; Lily Rose. We know the names are super popular, and a 'generic' combination - but my partner was super close to his grandmother growing up. So Rose was always in place in honour of her, and we started warming up to the name Lily over the weeks. We found out that lily of the valley was Fiance's grandmother's favourite flower so it all just worked in the end.
Goes well with our son's name, Noah James. Again, popular, but James was the name of my late brother.
Makes me happy we can honour those who passed in our lives.

Anyone else got their names set, or started a list of names?

Alekss · 21/09/2022 09:26

Hi, we have short listed 2 names for our girl . My husband told me to choose one, but i am so bad in such decision making, so I still can't make my mind. In the end I'll wait for her to arrive and decide which name suits her better:))

lilroo87 · 21/09/2022 10:44

We found out we're having a boy and I'm struggling with names.
We had a beautiful name picked out for a girl which would have gone really well with our DD's name but it's a boy and I'm struggling 🤣
There's a couple we kind of like so we're using them at the moment and seeing if either sticks.

PoppyHenry · 21/09/2022 11:12

We have three names we like but we are Going to wait till he’s here to decide which one he looks like :) x

Eeejjj · 22/09/2022 14:45

@lilroo87 I have no idea on a boys name or girls name! We're keeping the gender a surprise - but I am STRUGGLING

lilroo87 · 22/09/2022 15:22

@Eeejjj We had Elowyn picked out as a girls name this time but can't use it and this will definitely be our last child.
Our DD has a nature name and Elowyn means elm tree (a Cornish name and we live in Cornwall) so we thought it would have been perfect but I am finding boys names so hard.
I couldn't think of any boys names when we were pregnant with DD either.
I don't know why I'm struggling so much 🤣

Hi all.
Hope everyone is feeling well?

I have my diabetes test tomorrow and I'm absolutely dreading it... baby is measuring on the 95th percentile 🤯 but we do have a 4D scan booked for Tuesday. Excited to take our son to see the baby!
Anyone already had a 4D scan?

I've got my diabetes test tomorrow, too! I hope the drink doesn't make me gag 🤮

I'm really torn on whether to do a 4D scan. I feel so guilty because with DS we did, and I spent a fortune on clothes and pram etc., and with her, I've just accepted bundles of clothes from friends second hand and not really bought her anything. I feel like I've already "done" a 4D scan before so don't want to waste money I can put towards topping up my maternity pay, but then feel guilty again as if I'm treating her like she's second best.

CJones11 · 10/10/2022 07:30

@TokenGinger I am now feeling great about it. I fainted having my bloods at 12 week scan so fingers crossed I feel a little better today!

Totally understand where you're coming from. I've felt sort of distant this time. Don't know whether it's because we don't know the sex or because life is so busy. Our son keeps asking about the baby so that's our main reason for going. 28 weeks today and I really need to start buying bits to feel prepared.
I guess second time around we don't fall into the commercialised trap of having a child as easily, nothing at all wrong with saving money for when you really need it!

TokenGinger · 10/10/2022 09:16

@CJones11 I'm glad I'm not alone in feeling distant. I have really been questioning myself as to whether this is normal or not, but keep telling myself it's just because life with a toddler is so busy and the only time I stop and think about actually being pregnant is when I'm lying in bed at night time putting DS to sleep and I feel her kicking away.

I've just had my test and the drink. The drink wasn't half as bad as I expected, thankfully. The bloods hurt a lot more than usual today and I think it's because the hospital is so bloody cold, and also because I have no fluid inside me to help make them veins juicy.
