Hello

looking for some support from women in the same boat, while I await the first scan!

I’ve had 2 missed miscarriages in the last 18 months 9 weeks and 6 weeks and found out I was pregnant again last week before starting the drugs the clinic had prescribed.

im now 5+3 I’m on hydroxychloroquine, progesterone and prednisone. I’ve had brown spotting but that has eased but have had no pregnancy symptoms apart from bloating! I’m not very tired or nauseous and I’m really worried it’s another empty sac or something.

I have early scan booked on 13th may but it’s so torturous.

anyone in a similar boat?

@Willow11981 amazing news! That’s so great. I hope you can relax a little and enjoy these early days. I should be 9 tomorrow so our dates are closing in!

This week I’ve convinced myself it’s all over. Nausea been very up and down. it’s been a tough one though as my 2 year old has very bad chickpox, so there’s been no sleep and a trip to a&e. Although in some ways that’s been a distraction!
Next scan a week tomorrow...

Willow11981 · 06/05/2022 12:05

@Emily090 @Mawitchy ……ah thank you so much , it’s def eased mind a lot, especially as my husbands just left for a stag do so I had envisioned having to cope with bad news on my own all weekend!

ah so a scan next sat for you @Mawitchy , @Emily090 is that around the time you were thinking too? I think we are all very similar with dates aren’t we??
and @LostFox82 …. Next Friday for you!! …….. lots and lots of praying for everybody that we all get good news!!!!! X

PossiblyPertunia · 06/05/2022 12:56

Hi all!
I'm also pregnant again following 4 losses (3 at 5 weeks and a blighted ovum discovered at 8 weeks).

For those taking Prednisolone, it is really common for it to seriously reduce pregnancy symptoms. So please don't worry if you're lacking them.

Wonderful news about your scan @Willow11981 your chance of loss after 9 weeks with a successful scan is 1-2% which is super low now :)

I am further behind you all and only 4+3. I have a 20 month old little boy who was my first pregnancy with no issues at all. And then the other 4 losses from July-Dec last year.
I can't imagine actually getting to the stage of having a successful scan. I haven't seen an actual baby on a scan since my son.

PossiblyPertunia · 06/05/2022 12:56

Oh and @LostFox82 I'm also in Surrey :)

Willow11981 · 06/05/2022 13:38

@PossiblyPertunia …… sorry to hear about your recent loses but a big congrats on your current pregnancy , keeping everything crossed for you that this is the lucky one!!

Thank you for the stats on the miscarriage risk, I hadn’t read that so it’s somewhat comforting to know the risk now is actually quite small.

Although now I’m also worrying about the risk for downs etc with The fact that I’m 40:……I really wish I was more of a glass half full person 😂😂

Have you thought about when you might get your first scan? Or will you hold out as long as poss?
x

LostFox82 · 06/05/2022 14:08

🙌 hooray @Willow11981 ! I’m soooo happy for you, you must be so relieved and happy on this beautiful day!

I’ve read too that once you’ve seen a heartbeat snd past 6 weeks risk of mc drops dramatically, so that should reassure you a little.

so I was up all night again feeling agitated - think it’s the steroids, and had decided to try and get a scan tomorrow as I just can’t bare the idea that it’s a blighted ovum again and I’m here taking loads of drugs and people at work thinking I’m preg! But when I called they said I should have 7 days between scans so with one booked next Fri she said it would need to be today and as I’m 6+3 today her advice was it’s still a bit to early 😩 so back to waiting until next Friday - I’ve just bought a new baggy top as I’ve realised I really can’t WFH next week.

@PossiblyPertunia im so sorry to hear about all your losses, it’s heartbreaking is it it. I wish you all the luck in the world for this pregnancy- are you taking any drugs to help support?

are you near epsom?

@Mawitchy sorry to hear about your LO chicken pox - it’s a horrible old virus. Are you still spotting or has that eased off?

I still haven’t got any nausea or tiredness at all 🤷🏼‍♀️

@Willow11981 Im really laughing, let’s stay positive until the next tests happen and then worry. It’s great the baby is all fine and healthy. You must be happy to have a clear head for the weekend. It really can play with your emotions.

@LostFox82 what a pain, how about a private scan? They may fit you in today. I’m not slim but my stomach is like a 3 month bump, I personally think its from being pregnant 3 times in the last 18 months - I wore a tight top yesterday and thankfully had a bag to put across for the school run as it just looks so ‘pregnant bump’ - no one would dare ask though, I feel like it’s rude to ask anyone unless it’s obvious or your told. Sorry you feel on edge with covering up etc. but, if someone asks again, maybe say ‘big lunch’ and embarrass them - not answering the question. 😂

@PossiblyPertunia So sorry your also part of this heartbreaking club. Congratulations on your BFP, let’s hope this is it for us all. We are all here for you. X

PossiblyPertunia · 06/05/2022 14:35

@LostFox82 Redhill, so close yeah :)

I have been taking 75mg aspirin for 6 weeks, upped to 150mg at BFP. I also have clexane injections daily for a mild blood clotting disorder I tested positive for by the recurrent miscarriage clinic. And then also 400mg progesterone twice a day.
I was incredibly lucky that I had my first appointment with the RM team within 2 months of having my 3rd miscarriage.

@Willow11981 I definitely understand the worry about Down's syndrome, but my SIL has DS and is one of my best friends. She's super independent, lives on her own and works at a hotel as a server. She has had boyfriends and hopes to get married. <3

LostFox82 · 06/05/2022 14:41

@Emily090 it was actually the private clinic that suggested it was too early still surprisingly… it just put me off. Also never heard this thing about having scans 7 days apart because of heat from the probe apparently! That put me off too.
I feel better today about holding out it’s always worse in the middle of the night when you’ve got insomnia!

@PossiblyPertunia literally down the road from me!
great that you got in to see RM team too, I hope all these bloody drugs work, im rattling 😂

OP posts:
LostFox82 · 06/05/2022 14:44

@Emily090 its crazy that people ask! I’ve had 3 different people ask when I’m dude when I wasn’t preg, I’m a size 12/14 and tall but my muscles never went back after first 2 so I have a bump all the time. Girl at work is lovely I don’t know her that well really, but we’ve hit a good relationship! I told her off for asking me though!

OP posts:
PossiblyPertunia · 06/05/2022 15:31

@LostFox82 Oh wow I've never heard that either about having scans 7 days apart! It does sort of make sense though.
My cousin is very hippy and refused ALL scans because of the "radiation" and she free birthed at home to a baby that popped out at 11lbs!!

Willow11981 · 06/05/2022 16:01

@LostFox82 ……. Oh no sorry to hear you was up all night, that’s not good! I’ve never heard that before either about the gap between scans, so annoying that you can’t just go and put your mind at rest!
its good you haven’t got any nausea though, I haven’t either, I am tired and fall asleep in front of the tv in the eves but I did that before pregnancy too 😂 .
I really hope the next week goes week so you get to have your scan!!

@Emily090 …… 😂 I know, I’m Terrible, I’m def going to try and keep positive!!!

@PossiblyPertunia …… wow she home birthed an 11lb baby, she’s amazing!!!!! ….. your SIL sounds Amazing too!!! X

LostFox82 · 08/05/2022 05:23

how are you lovely ladies this morning, I hope everyone is feeling strong today?

I managed to sleep 11-4am which I’m pretty pleased about!

I keep imagining my scan on Friday being bad news, those few seconds when they say they’re going to be quiet for a min while they have a good look, I can’t get it out of my head, it’s driving me mad! I think that is ptsd 😬

also seem to have lost any boob pain and still no nausea or extra tiredness which is worrying me 😬.

@PossiblyPertunia love the sound of your cousin, what a woman! There is no radiation in u/s scans though or that would be another thing to worry about 😂

OP posts:
Willow11981 · 08/05/2022 06:35

Morning @LostFox82 …… glad you managed to get a solid few hours of sleep, though that’s still a pretty early wake up 😂…….. I’m not a very good sleeper either tbh, never have been.

i never had crazy sore boobs but they were a little more tender , but that went at about 6-7 weeks for me! ……. Still hasn’t returned, my boobs feel marginally bigger than normal but don’t hurt in the slightest, and I have had no nausea at all so def try not to worry about symptoms as I have discovered they mean nothing! ……… I know exactly how you feel though as I was CONVINCED there was no way in the world there wouldnt be anything to see on the scan, I’d even convinced my husband there would be bad news ( and he’s normally the voice of reason) …… so when I had that first scan at 7 weeks I was amazed!!! Then I did the same again over the next two weeks, in fact id had an upset stomach one day and also got a couple of spots ( my first ones since BFP) and those alone were enough of a reason To think it was all over! 😂…….. sorry that was a massive ramble but that’s me trying to say symptoms don’t always mean anything!!!

im am keeping absolutely everything crossed for you for a good scan on Friday!!!!!!!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

xx

JenniferR2021 · 08/05/2022 07:58

I got bfp last night I had miscarriage in November and match I'm so worried .

Mawitchy · 08/05/2022 09:38

@LostFox82 good morning, imagining worst case scenario is totally natural I think. When you’ve been in room having the ultrasound, hoping for the best, and you get the worst, it’s so hard to imagine anything else. @Willow11981 i was totally convinced at the last scan too, but ever since my first miscarriage (3 plus a chemical), I have always been convinced. Maybe it’s a protective mechanism? I did what you did and convinced my dp it would be bad news, he’s becoming worn down by my negativity now!
we just don’t know what’s going on in there. I reckon there is an element of ptsd @LostFox82 it would make sense. It’s a trauma that most of us just push through and carry with us.

hello @PossiblyPertunia and @JenniferR2021 congratulations on your BFPs. Hope you’re holding up ok. I’ve always found myself so desperate for that BFP and then terrified pretty much as soon as i get it. It’s not easy.

@LostFox82 did you say you are taking Prednisolone? @PossiblyPertunia has mentioned that can reduce symptoms, wonder if that’s playing a role? I’m not tired just occasionally a bit nauseous. I have been pretty much constantly sleep deprived for 5 years, so maybe just a way of life now and haven’t noticed?!

PossiblyPertunia · 08/05/2022 09:40

@LostFox82 I also have basically no symptoms. Mild nausea every now and then. But other than that absolutely nothing...

I can't imagine anything other than bad news too. Still waiting to hear from EPU to get me booked in for a scan. Going to call them on Monday to see if they've received my referral yet from the RM team.

I'll probably ask to not be scanned until 6 weeks though, which will be a week on Tuesday (god is time going soo slow for anyone else?!

JenniferR2021 · 08/05/2022 09:55

Thank you I had miscarriage in march period in April and now pregnant again don't how I fell this time I had my first miscarriage in November at 10/weeks was awful then march I was 8weeks I need to just wait and see how things go

Mawitchy · 08/05/2022 10:04

@JenniferR2021 im so sorry. I really empathise with you. I had a eprc on 1 March and was pregnant again by 21 March, my head was spinning for a good while and I oscillated between feeling good about it and actually wishing it wasn’t happening. There’s no one way to feel, sending lots of strength to you x

LostFox82 · 08/05/2022 10:10

@JenniferR2021 im sorry to hear about your losses, but congratulations on the new bfp. We’re all in the same boat, it’s such an excruciating time of waiting to see the outcome of this time round. Have you got any support from nhs? My local hospital agreed to refer me after 2 mc because the first was at 9 weeks after I’d seen heartbeat at 6 which is more unusual and also my age. Might be worth seeing if you can get hold of some drugs to support this pregnancy?

@PossiblyPertunia yes time is so slow right now! I hate the fact I’m wishing the days away. I had to call EPU to get early scan - my local one would only do first reassurance scan at 9wks so I’m going further afield to get one at 7 and then 9 they both said they wouldn’t do before 7 weeks. Which hosp will you be at? That was epsom.

@Mawitchy know what you mean about tiredness I’m the same for last 7 years 😂 hard to tell the difference!
yes I’m on prednisone but I hadn’t heard that about it reducing symptoms. I’ve caught my sons cold and it’s so mild compared to what he had I think steroids are helping!

Mawitchy · 08/05/2022 10:53

Have any of you guys have any genetic testing done? My last miscarriage was tested and it was found that the bubba was missing a chromosome. It happened to be quite a rare chromosomal abnormality. It makes me wonder what went wrong with the ones before. My GP said the chances of it being a chromosome issue each time is slim, but I am 39 so maybe not.

Its frustrating that the EPUs and recurrent miscarriage clinics all have different criteria and procedures. My EPU is great but like I said, the recurrent miscarriage didn’t want to know.

Emily090 · 08/05/2022 15:29

@LostFox82 You must be exhausted on that sleep 😞 maybe an earlier night would help?

completely with you in the scan worry, I wish there was another way of finding out if all is okay and I go to bed both nights thinking about the scan and picturing the same as you ‘I’m sorry’ ….fills me with dread. I have thought that this scan I’m going to ask them to have the two people scanning me so I don’t have to lay on the bed ‘whilst she gets her colleague’ - my last scan as soon as she told us I got up and dressed and walked out, only to be made to go back so they could confirm, I’m a really sensitive person, I definitely think I have PTSD from all of this, like we spoke about before, covid definitely didn’t help.

My boobs can be sore at certain times of the day rather than the whole day, not long until your scan, I’m sure everything will be okay. Will be thinking of you this week.
i have to book mine tomorrow ekk!

PossiblyPertunia · 08/05/2022 15:44

@LostFox82 I'm at East Surrey. I'm meant to have scans at 5/7/9/11 under the RM programme but I think 5 weeks is too early so going to ask to do 6/8/10/12. A friend is midlands and has had a scan every week from 6-12 weeks!

Emily090 · 08/05/2022 17:08

@Mawitchy we had ours tested in the 3rd and after 4 months of waiting to hear, they called to say they lost our results, completely shocking.

All we keep hearing from the professionals is, it’s just bad luck….. never something you want to hear is it. What can we do with that information.

Willow11981 · 08/05/2022 17:34

Welcome @JenniferR2021 ………. Really sorry to hear about your loses, it’s so heartbreaking……… congrats on your BFP though, let’s hope this is it for you!!!!! Waiting till 6 weeks is prob a good idea for your first scan, 5 weeks does sound very early.

@Mawitchy …… I’ve never had any genetic testing done, epu said it was prob just bad luck but the private GP who prescribed my progesterone said it was more than likely my age and bad quality eggs!

@Emily090 ….. when are you planning on trying to get one ? Are you nearly 9 weeks now?
I can’t believe they lost your results , that’s absolutely shocking!

xx
