@stuntbubbles @baby2in2022 now this is where I'm an anomaly as I'm still able to eat plenty of other sweet things (digestive biscuits, jam and raisins in porridge the odd random thing) but I'm also eating more savoury bits and crisps which I ordinarily wouldn't be fussed with.

I feel like my eating habits have just changed rather than having preferences I guess.

Also got another scan on Mon as well as my booking in appointment with the midwife! Will be a busy day going between different hospitals but I'm quite excited/nervous. I'll be 9w4d 🙂

Libmama · 07/05/2022 17:47

@stuntbubbles I’m glad to know my baby isn’t going to be the only born with a waft of pickled onion monster munch 😂

It’s weird I’m not normally much of a fan but every time I’ve been pregnant they’ve been the thing I want more than anything.

I have a really weird craving though…. I really want a cigarette! I am a very very occasional social smoker, think like 2/3 cigarettes a year max and it’s all I can think about. I even took the dog on a detour past the beer garden earlier to get a waft. I’ve never known this before and everyone I mention it too says I’m odd!!

DogsAndGin · 07/05/2022 19:44

Welcome new members!

Is it my imagination, or are there pregnant ladies everywhere!? I feel like we are in the middle of a baby boom?

Well TMI from me, but I am terribly constipated 😩 it’s awful! I’m trying dulcoease 🤞🏻 Other than that, and larger boobs, I have no other symptoms.

Hope you’ve all enjoyed some sunshine today ☀️

DogsAndGin · 07/05/2022 19:59

Oh and also, I tried Tanqueray 0% gin today with a fever tree - and it is really rather good! Highly recommended!

Does anyone else work in healthcare? I’m 6+5 today and have waves of nausea all day, really struggling as I have to wear a mask all day plus am on my feet most of the day. I looked into those anti sickness bands but they have to be worn on the wrist apparently and I have to be bare below the elbows 😫 would love some advice if anyone is in a similar position! X

Yes and I’m having waves of nausea too, have you tried ginger nut biscuits? They seem to be really helping me and I’ve been taking a little stash to work! Such a shame that we can’t wear the bands 😔. Are you wearing compression stockings? I would definitely recommend them for helping with fatigue/feeling dehydrated x

TradedAtlanta · 06/05/2022 13:28

@bb226 I'm NHS though split clinical and management role so able to wfh some of the time. On days I'm ward based I'm also really struggling with the masks, especially on warmer days. The other thing I'm grappling with is deciding when to inform work about the pregnancy. Last time round risk assessment meant I had to be non patient contact from as soon as I informed and it was so boring and frustrating. I'm toying with not informing before I legally have to but then I'll feel guilty giving less time to find maternity cover....

I had to tell them straight away because I am a chemotherapy nurse and have to stop administering chemo when pregnant. But I’ve only told the people who really need to know. I had a risk assessment last week and there was not really any action to take from it other than read the massive policy! Don’t do chemo and don’t do heavy lifting. They don’t recommend wearing an FFP3 mask just said it’s personal preference now. I feel like it’s been a good thing to tell a few people just to have a bit of support especially when not feeling too good x

TradedAtlanta · 07/05/2022 21:35

@Rose2022 ah yes - that makes sense... mine is more risk of violence from patients so I was surprised last time to be banned so early. It also seems really inconsistent as the same policy didn't apply in A&E where to my mind there is at least equally high risk of violence.

PinkFizz1 · 08/05/2022 09:11

The only consistent symptoms I’ve had are sore boobs are tiredness. I was sleeping 12hrs a night with 2hr naps during the day. The past couple of days the tiredness has vanished and been replaced with insomnia. Naturally this has me worried a bit… my boobs are still sore. I’ve had 2 scans. But the sudden change to insomnia is concerning. Anyone have any insightful info to put my mind at ease? I’m 9+3.

stuntbubbles · 08/05/2022 09:36

@Libmama You fancy a fag, I’m absolutely gasping for a dirty gin martini! I’m normally teetotal Confused

Mememe17 · 08/05/2022 11:22

Morning/afternoon everyone,

Sympathise with those of you in health care with masks in every day. I don't live in the UK and have to wear masks all the time at work too. Make my nausea/vomiting even worse. And more difficult to stop myself stuffing my face too!

Anyone else get soooo hungry they feel like they've been hollowed out inside? I feel like someone has got a giant ice cream scoop and scooped out from under my boobs to the top of my legs sometimes. It's like... painful hunger. Weird!

Also trying to stop my kids jumping on me is a task.

Mememe17 · 08/05/2022 11:23

@PinkFizz1 I wouldn't worry about the sleep. In my experience things change every couple of weeks. You get get on top of one symptom and then that disappear and a new one begins.

Chanel05 · 08/05/2022 11:33

Had a private scan today! Though I was 6+5 but they dated me at 7+2! Felt less sick and sore this morning so I'm taking the small win whilst I can before the symptoms kick back in again.

MrsCrumbtious · 08/05/2022 14:58

Had an early reassurance scan this morning and got to see our crumb number 2! All looking perfect and only one day behind what I thought so now it’s due on my DDs due date 4 years ago 😂❤️

Tofu35 · 08/05/2022 15:00

"I'm feeling okay today, my nausea is manageable. Let's go to a nearby park and have lunch in a cafe"

Oh how wrong I was. Ran to the toilet in the cafe because the smells from kitchen made me feel sick, and I only lasted 15 mins in the park before I started wondering if I could be sick behind a tree 😂 home time!

DogsAndGin · 08/05/2022 15:52

@MrsCrumbtious wow! What a fab pic!

@Tofu35 I thought I could manage a long walk today but had to turn back after about 30 mins.

@Mememe17 yes! Absolutely - I am completely starving all the time. Had my breakfast and was hungry immediately so had to have cheesy crumpets too! 🤣😅

MrsCrumbtious · 08/05/2022 16:29

@DogsAndGin it was such a clear scan considering it was only 1.5cm 🥰 still amazing even second time around

Wanderlust16 · 08/05/2022 16:38

Lovely scan picture @MrsCrumbtious ! Congratulations :)

hopefulsunshine11 · 08/05/2022 18:04

Hi everyone! Hope things are going well for you all. Is anyone experiencing shortness of breath? I'm getting out of breath picking things up and putting a wash on Blush. I'm unfit and overweight anyway but I feel like I'm getting worse. I've also had a nap today and I don't know if it's boredom/laziness or pregnancy tiredness lol.

KittyKat1989 · 08/05/2022 18:09

I don’t know how those of you with children to look after are managing to do this! Today I got up at gone midday, had a three hour nap on the sofa, spilt water all over the kitchen and had a cry, so now I’m back on the sofa under a blanket for the evening 😴

Graceybaby · 08/05/2022 18:10

@PinkFizz1 7 weeks today and still very little symptoms.. I have had Insomnia for the past 2 weeks.. I literally can't remember the last time I slept through the night or got more then 4hrs continuous sleep.. tiredness is well and truly there, I can barely function most days but I cannot sleep.. OH has been on the sofa on and off to see if that helps me sleep having the bed to myself but nope.. it's really starting to get me down. I wake feeling absolutely awful every day and I have no choice but to get and up get my son ready and off to school and getting to work myself... I've already had to take days off work as I just cant function properly.

Graceybaby · 08/05/2022 18:12

@KittyKat1989 Its hard.. as above, I'm exhausted😞

MrsCrumbtious · 08/05/2022 18:12

@KittyKat1989 i count down the hours until my daughter goes to nursery and climb back into bed after I’ve dropped her off 😂 it’s definitely a new level of tired

AG96 · 08/05/2022 18:28

@hopefulsunshine11 I'm also out of breath over the smallest thing. Also overweight and unfit. My breathlessness is definitely worse than it was prior to pregnancy! So you are not alone in that feeling. I've read it's due to increased blood volume during pregnancy

Sera123 · 08/05/2022 18:56

So I'm supposed to be 10 weeks today, but I'd been having some brown discharge all week and my (admittedly quite minor) symptoms seemed like they were disappearing, so thought I'd book a private scan for some reassurance.

Unfortunately they couldn't locate anything, just an empty sac, I think, and have diagnosed it as 'Pregnancy of Unknown Location'.

From what I can tell this either means it's too early (under 6 weeks) which in my case is impossible because my positive pregnancy tests were 7 weeks ago, a miscarriage, or an ectopic pregnancy.

They're referring me to the hospital for more tests to try and figure out which.

Aside from the brown discharge I've not had any miscarriage symptoms, no pain or bleeding or anything.

So it's been quite a shock to get this news, we're both feeling so deflated as all our plans for this year are now kind of up in the air and in limbo again, and we've had enough bad news this year that it's going to be awful to have to give more bad news to our parents as we'd told them about the pregnancy already. 😞

Tofu35 · 08/05/2022 20:06

So sorry to hear this @Sera123 . It's good the hospital are sending you for more tests to get some answers. Sending you love and strength during this difficult time xx
