@watchingtheflowersgrow, we're going to be doing the test. I'll be 37 tomorrow and my DP and I both feel it would be reassuring.

watchingtheflowersgrow · 17/04/2022 18:57

How many weeks are you @Sdoubleyou? I think we can do the test from 10+4. Also I read you can find out the gender at no extra cost so we definitely will!!

@Mommabear20 it’s a blood test - here’s a little bit of info from the test centre I was looking at:

Non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) analyses cell-free DNA circulating in the pregnant mother's blood. It is a new option in prenatal screening for Down syndrome (trisomy 21) and other common fetal chromosomal conditions (trisomies 18 and 13).

Btw in other news I am 4+3 & have literally just been horrified to read that liver can cause birth defects (I am on my 3rd baby & must have totally forgotten this!). I ate pâté with liver in it 2 days running… I am absolutely kicking myself! Do you think this will be ok? Feeling really scared I could have harmed the baby. It was 1 piece of bread each day. Cannot believe I forgot that - and also the need to avoid pate. Will not be touching the stuff again.

BuchananBaby · 17/04/2022 19:02

@Tulip1112 sorry to hear about your losses and a big congrats on your rainbow 🌈 ❤️ knicker watching is awful isn't it I'm still at it!

@Tofu35 awk that's a shame but hopefully you enjoyed your dinner! I had planned a nice roast but I've just got home and tbh I cba 😂 I have chicken kievs and potatoe waffles in the oven 🙈

BuchananBaby · 17/04/2022 19:04

@watchingtheflowersgrow you'll be fine with the pate I'm sure it's the vitamin A in it but with my daughter I craved haggis (so stereotypical 🙈) and had it twice a month and she was fine just don't eat it all the time and you'll be fine 🥰

Sdoubleyou · 17/04/2022 19:07

@watchingtheflowersgrow, I'm in Quebec, Canada and the first blood test is between weeks 10 and 13 and the second is weeks 14 to 16. I'm 6 weeks tomorrow. I'll see if I can do it at my first prenatal appointment at 10 weeks. I'm doing an early scan at 7 1/2 weeks but will I l'y see my doctor at 10.

lovesT · 17/04/2022 19:08

@watchingtheflowersgrow don't worry too much. I've actually been readying bits from someone called Lily Nichols who is a nutritionist and specialises in pregnancy things, she argues that we should eat liver! I could be completely wrong so have a look yourself but I think the worry is too much vitamin A but something about liver and how we digest it means it's okay. Obviously NHS says to avoid it so have a look but don't worry too much, I think I had mince fortified with liver a couple of times before I realised I was pregnant x

lovesT · 17/04/2022 19:10

Husband and I have decided to book a private scan for tomorrow as he is off work and can't make the NHS one with me in Thursday which makes me nervous incase I was on my own and didn't have good news which obviously I'm hoping won't happen .. 🙏🤞 so will keep you updated. I've had less spotting today (still brown) so that's good but obviously concerned until I know. X

HayleyBean · 17/04/2022 19:14

Hey everyone! How's your day all been? I've spent the day painting 15 fence panels and our gate. I made a flower bed yesterday and also gutted the spare room. My husband is seriously nesting, but I feel good for having a productive weekend. Only symptoms I've got are the occasional twinge and my boobs absolutely kill. Even my arm brushing against them when painting was painful!

Tulip1112 · 17/04/2022 19:14

@BuchananBaby I don't know if i will ever stop doing it until I have a baby one day. It's the worst... heart rate increases tenfold, glance at the tissue, then feel silly when there's nothing there. The thing is, I did have something there one day with my 2nd loss so now it's just flashback central. Trying so hard to be positive and just taking it day by day

Mommabear20 · 17/04/2022 19:22

@watchingtheflowersgrow ah! I've never heard of that! We didn't do any of the screening tests with our first two, so doubt we will this time either.

And as far as the Liver is concerned, my mum ate liver pate when she was pregnant with me (was one of her cravings so consumed a fair bit!) and I'm absolutely fine!

LolaJ87 · 17/04/2022 19:37

@lovesT @AnxiousLady1 hope the spotting stops for you both soon. I also had some around 4 weeks but was told that’s implantation and nothing to worry about etc. I wasn’t expecting to see it again 3 weeks later. I’ve had no more today, hoping it stays that way.

LovesT best of luck with tomorrow, glad you’ll have your husband with you. Everything sounds positive for you and I hope it all goes ok, please keep us posted.

To all the ladies that shared positive stories and words of encouragement, thank you so much. The support when you’re frantic with worry is invaluable. Every positive story helps.

@embob993 my heart is going out to you and I hope everything turns out ok. That must have been a big shock. Please let us know how you’re doing ♥️

Whilstwewait · 17/04/2022 20:05

Hope you’re ok @embob993 thinking of you and praying for positive news

@lovesT hope it all goes well tomorrow for you.

@watchingtheflowersgrow I wouldn’t worry. Lots of people don’t even realise they are pregnant at this stage, they do all sorts and everything is absolutely fine. I think the guidance is just overly cautious and the chance of anything happening is like so so small. Most of the advice on what to eat and what not to eat varies by country as well

Anyone else symptomless? I didn’t have hardly anything at this stage with my son but sure I did have sore boobs and cramping. I’m 5 weeks. I think I wasn’t tracking xx

Hope everyone had a lovely day

Tulip1112 · 17/04/2022 20:18

@Whilstwewait I'm 5 weeks and symptomless so far. My husband seems to think I'm tired. I've had cramping and dizziness but struggling to believe they are positive symptoms (rather than something bad is happening). Weirdly I'm desperate for my boobs to hurt now as I will feel something is happening!! My first pregnancy progressed to 11 weeks before I lost it and I had every symptom going! X x

embob993 · 17/04/2022 22:06

Hey ladies, thankyou so much for your kind words ❤ I've only just got home. Waited 8 hours for bloods which should have taken 2 to 3 which were still being processed at 9pm and was sent home to await a phone call 😬. So apart from the clot I had last night, I've had no blood or clotting at all. No pain at any stage including when it happened so was all a bit of a surprise. My cervix is closed and I have no active bleeding. I've been nauseous all day including having to throw up in the hospital loo 🙈 The doctor really confused me about bloods.. she chased path lab a few times and they confirmed they were looking high but wanted to dilute them and test them again.. she didn't explain why and I've never heard or this before?! Bizarre. But I have a scan booked in for Wednesday morning. She said that the main thing they want to rule out is an ectopic pregnancy but that it's unlikely without any pain. So I'm still very much in the dark but relieved that nothing else has passed and I'm reassuring myself with that fact! Xx

Whilstwewait · 18/04/2022 06:41

@tulip1112 sorry to hear about your loss. I had cramping with my little boy. I remember finding it quite reassuring as I felt he was snuggling into my uterus. It felt different to me than period cramps. It’s so hard to know isn’t it. Pregnancy is so nerve racking and must be 10 times worse after a loss.
Will you have an early scan? Sorry if I’ve missed this

@embob993 sounds like a really difficult day for you. Positive signs that you’ve not had any more bleeding or cramps. Hope it all goes well on Wednesday xx

Tofu35 · 18/04/2022 06:57

Oh @embob993 that sounds like a long day for you, I hope your scan on Wednesday goes well.

@tulip1112 @whilstwewait Im 6+2 now, but last week I was the same. I was convinced that something was wrong because my nausea and sore boobs that I remembered having last pregnancy weren't consistently there. Tulip, my experience of miscarriage at 9wks definitely drove some of that symptom spotting anxiety. This week everything seems to be kicking off, which is good but also wow I forgot how much the nausea sucked!

Hope some of us have the bank holiday Monday off today, and if you do, you have something nice planned.

RSmamaa · 18/04/2022 07:07

Is anyone else feeling dizzy? Im 5 weeks and last night felt like I was in a goldfish bowl

Tulip1112 · 18/04/2022 07:13

@Whilstwewait I am hoping to have an early scan and to use Cyclogest (progesterone) through a self referral to the EPU as this is my third pregnancy (I lost the first two 💔) I did some counselling and one of the recommendations was to pay for more regular private scans in the first trimester but I will have to wait and see how the first one goes Smile

@tofu that's reasssuring! I know I need to be patient. The last two pregnancies, I haven't known until I was already 6 weeks but the growth tracked 10-12 days behind both times before I lost them. This time I found out 2 days before I was due so a lot longer to worry before symptoms start!!

Wishing everyone a wonderful, hopefully sunny(!) Easter Monday x

Tulip1112 · 18/04/2022 07:15

@RSmamaa I was dizzy a couple days ago, felt like vertigo for about 36 hours then just disappeared!! It's the body coping with the extra blood and hormones!! So weird isn't it!

RSmamaa · 18/04/2022 07:22

@Tulip1112 I don't remember feeling dizzy with DS. I did have terrible sickness though so I'd rather feel dizzy than that! I had low iron last time which caused me to feel so unwell so wonder if it's dipping a bit now. Might ask dr to do bloods as don't want to go through that again 😢

Charl1247 · 18/04/2022 08:10

Morning all,

I'm 6+4 today my symptoms have been waves of nausea, Tiredness and headaches plus lower Bach aches. I also had a little bit of brown spotting the other day it was very lite so I'm not to concerned.

What I am cornered about is the lack of morning sickness and I don't think I'm getting any stomach aches or twinges and that's concerning me. Is anyone else getting stomach twinges / aches ? I got those last time... although it ended in miscarriage so I probably shouldn't compare to much to last time but I just can't help it! X

Amphibian94 · 18/04/2022 08:33

Ok Ladies. Serious morning question here!

Sex during early pregnancy... lol! I know it's generally safe, but for those with previous MCs and also classed as a high risk pregnancy, do you think it's safe?

Yes this is my morning thoughts haha. Hope everyone managed to enjoy the bank holiday weekend.

watchingtheflowersgrow · 18/04/2022 09:01

Thank you so much for the reassurance @BuchananBaby, @lovesT, @Mommabear20 & @Whilstwewait. You’ve made me feel so much better. This is such a nice & supportive group.

@Sdoubleyou do you get those blood tests as a matter of course in Quebec then?

@embob993 glad you’re home & good luck for Weds.

I’m getting all the symptoms now… feeling queasy, sore boobs that seem to have grown by a couple of cup sizes already, bloated & last night I had really vivid dreams. I already have a dd & a ds, and I had similar symptoms with my dd & absolutely no symptoms w my ds. It’s probably an old wives tale but I wonder if that means this baby will be a girl.

Mommabear20 · 18/04/2022 09:07

@RSmamaa I have crazy dizziness in early pregnancy and even passed out with my first, midwife said it's normal as baby is starting to share blood and your body hasn't replaced it yet.

Chanel05 · 18/04/2022 09:17

@Amphibian94 I had a mmc in 2019 before my dd. With my dd we didn't dtd until after the 12 week scan 😬. We discussed this last night and think we will hold off again! Only 3+6 so far 😂. This pregnancy is high risk for me having an emcs at 10cm, having a major pph and I also have an overactive thyroid which hasn't been treated yet 😬🤦‍♀️.
