Should be 8 weeks, measuring 6 weeks with heartbeat

Looking for some experience/advice from anyone who has been through this.

I am absolutely sure when I ovulated and we only had sex once on the day before ovulation.

I went for a scan today and baby is measuring 3.1mm and the sonographer said 6 weeks, there is a heartbeat.
I am worried this is not good news. She said to come back in 2 weeks for a scan but I am not optimistic.

There was also a twin sac but doesn't look like that is developing.

Any advice/help would be appreciated, is there any hope here?

@FlapJackered so so very sorry to hear that. 😞

Take care of yourself. I felt a bit numb to begin with and haven’t been coping very well the last few days.

Nothing has begun for me and they inevitable weight knowing what to come just feels the worse.

Here for a hand hold ❤️

Thank you all for the kind words. ❤️ I just feel so sad and low and I can't bring myself out of it.

@Indianna2006 I am sorry nothing has happened for you yet, are you waiting for it to happen naturally?

I have managed to get an appointment with the EPU on Tuesday. I still don't know what I will do if I am given the options.

@FlapJackered I am waiting until next Wednesday when they do my second scan to confirm as nothing else I can do in that inbetween bit. But it will of been 10 days then since I first went to private one and knew dates didn’t match and 2 days later no hb.

So I will ask for medical management hopefully next Wednesday and plan to do it as outpatient first and hope my body does it.

Hey @FlapJackered .... It probably shouldn't but I came here looking for hope and actually found comfort in your story instead.

By my calculations in 7weeks. It's not possible for it to be any later/earlier. This is a fact based on the only time I had had sex and the date I tested positive.

I've had a number of private scans (looks like the same company as yours) and from the get go it's been a roller coaster. Initially they could t see it. Then it was there but barely. Then it was there with a "very faint heartbeat" - same as yours and now, it's barely grown in a week and no heart eat witnessed.

I should be 7weeks, but the CRL is 3.5mm. The week before at 6weeks it was 3.2mm. They said they felt I was just under 6 weeks.

I have an appointment at the EPU Wednesday to confirm it all and discuss options.

I'm silently holding on to all hope but I know this isn't right.

The gyne at the EPU told me on the phone that they can't confirm anything below 7mm based on no heartbeat as it is very hit and miss so early on that you're guaranteed to see it each time but the slow growth doesn't sound promising.

How did things pan out with you? What route did you opt to go down with EPU? How are you feeling now? Lots of hugs to you x

@Hopefullhopeful I am so sorry to hear you are in a similar situation to me. It's so heartbreaking and hard to have to wait so long for a definitive answer.

I ended up having it confirmed by the EPU after 1 scan but they needed another one 10 days later to confirm it before anything could be done. I managed to book in for a D&C operation for the day after the second scan but I miscarried naturally a couple of days before I had the operation which was horrible but a relief not to have to go in again.

It's a really tough decision with which route to go for and I think totally personal. What made me go for the operation was that I had heard some stories of the medication making it more painful and that often you have to have the operation anyway as it doesn't always work. I also was just keen to get it over and try and move on.

Sending lots of strength to you for tomorrow. x

@Hopefullhopeful sorry you find yourself in this situation. It’s such an awful wait. Look after yourself. I had 2 medical managements and ERPC surgery in the end for retained products.

@FlapJackered how are you getting on?

my cycles returned pretty quickly after surgery and I fell straight away but had a chemical pregnancy.

I’ve just found out I’m pregnant again on cycle 3 since that chemical. 5 weeks..so hoping this may be it 🤞🏼

FlapJackered · 23/08/2022 19:05

@Indianna2006 congratulations, that’s fantastic news! I am sure it’s an anxious wait after last time but I will keep everything crossed for you.
Will you have an early scan?

i ended up going for ivf in July but they cancelled my cycle because they found I have a hydrosalpinx which is likely to stop me from getting pregnant, so i am having another scan on Thursday to confirm, then an operation to remove my tube. Definitely not the best year this year! 🤦‍♀️

@FlapJackered yes I will have another early scan and hope for the best.

oh no. That is not an ideal year. Once it’s removed can you then do another ivf cycle? It’s all such a roller coaster and a lot of waiting around!

FlapJackered · 23/08/2022 19:26

hopefully all being well I can do another cycle as soon as my cycle returns after the op. 🤞Just frustrating to have to wait for it all to sort out.

Let me know how the scan goes! I am sure all will be well this time. X
