@CoalCraft I had some the last time as I was measuring small re. fundal height, though weirdly she was measuring ok inside. All were done by a sonographer. I haven't heard that i'll be getting them this time though. Glad that your irritable uterus seems to be staying away this time. Hope that we both get the full term/3 weeks max pre term experience this time!

@squatternutbosh12 where I am they give one at 10 and one at 24 weeks, so i've already had it once. I hate drinking it, have to down it as otherwise I spend the whole time gagging and honestly feeling repulsed that i'm ingesting that much straight sugar. I remember last time feeling so jittery because my body wasn't used to it. At least the results are fairly quick though.

Isonthecase · 20/04/2022 20:37

@CoalCraft @madeleine85 Yeah, the scans feel never ending! I'm still not entirely sure what mine were meant to check but they always seemed happy, unlike me by the end 🙈 think they ramped up closer to the due date, seem to remember being in weekly but that may have been blood tests? It's all such a haze! Hopefully you both make it to at least 37 weeks, not sure I'd wish much more than that on anyone...

Can't quite believe we're so far in now! The earliest baby to survive was only 21 weeks and we're probably all past that now so I'd call that a viability-ish milestone 🎉

CoalCraft · 20/04/2022 22:23

@Isonthecase Yes, we really do have little babies inside us now! I have been counting down to 24 weeks (currently 22+4) as a threshold of "decent chance of survival outside the womb" but it's true that there'd be a chance even now!

I kind of do want to go to 40 weeks since I plan on starting my maternity at 37 and I want a decent rest before she arrives XD

Mufflette · 20/04/2022 23:08

@Isonthecase @CoalCraft know, I've started to realise that I am actually definitely going to have to give birth at some point!

Also on the countdown to 24 weeks (22+5 here), then 30's the main milestone after that for me as that's the earliest my local hospital takes babies from.

Cakecakecheese · 21/04/2022 08:27

I'll be 24 weeks on Sunday and I'm finally starting to feel some movement (anterior placenta)

I've got a pregnancy massage this afternoon. I carry a lot of tension in my neck and back anyway so pregnancy has not helped that so I'm hoping a massage will help.

Mirabella3 · 21/04/2022 08:53

Hi all, 22+1 today and have just tested positive for Covid! So upset with myself and feel really guilty that it may affect baby. So far symptoms are mild with mild body aches and sore throat! I have just let my midwife know.

For anyone that has had Covid during pregnancy is there anything you had to take/do differently? And has baby been fine?

Thank you x

Mufflette · 21/04/2022 09:04

@Mirabella3 I think about half of the people on this thread have had covid while pregnant now! I had it at about 18 weeks and all fine, rest rest rest, hydrate, lemon or ginger tea with honey in and ricola sweets got me through!

Hope you stay not feeling too ill.

Mirabella3 · 21/04/2022 10:35

@Mufflette thank you. It’s reassuring to know people have had it and been ok. This is my second time having it (had it pre pregnancy and had to cancel my ivf round 1) and it’s definitely not as bad this time!

CoalCraft · 21/04/2022 11:22

Anyone else been getting nosebleeds? I'm quite prone to them anyway but they've been so much worse the last couple of months. Doctor has prescribed some antibiotic cream to put up there, which doesn't sound much fun!

Hoping it helps as my Hb was on the low side when they drew my bloods and I'm sure a these bleeds won't be helping.

Beth262 · 21/04/2022 13:22

Hi everyone, I hope you're all doing well. The recent update seems to have turned off my notifications - thought you'd all been a bit quiet!

@Mirabella3 I had covid at about 11 weeks. Baby is fine. Rest and hydration seemed to work for me along with paracetamol to keep my temperature down, although I didn't seem to suffer too badly. Hope you're feeling OK.

1st consultant appointment for me tomorrow. Given DS was a spontaneous birth at 30 weeks not sure what they think they can plan for!

OP posts:
CoalCraft · 21/04/2022 14:16

@Beth262 perhaps they will do investigations into the cause of the preterm labour? Maybe measure your cervix?

roughmeasures · 21/04/2022 14:22

@CoalCraft

Slightly odd midwife appointment today. She looked through my records with me there and discovered that the consultant who looked at my file after my dating scan recommended that I should have regular growth scans, but apparently no one did anything about this? Certainly no one told me or my midwife! So she is now scrambling to arrange the first of those on time (it's supposed to be at 28 weeks). I'm not really sure what they expect to find on the growth scans as my first baby was the perfect size for her gestation, just early, but I won't complain!

Anyone had/having growth scans know who does them? Wondering if it will be the consultant or a radiographer.

Otherwise appointment was fine, except baby was wiggling too much for midwife to get a good heart rate read! Grin

@CoalCraft I'm having 6 extra scans (for growth) - so far it's always been the consultant!
Beth262 · 21/04/2022 14:47

@CoalCraft Thanks, I hadn't thought of that (didn't know it was a thing tbh!). No-one has any explanation why he came early, but then it's never been looked at. I gave birth in a hospital 3 hours from home (after being sent there as a precaution when my local hospital was full) and after being sent to a closer hospital 2 weeks after he was born, I was under yet another different health board so fell between the cracks I think in terms of investigations. Be interesting to hear what they have to say tomorrow!

squatternutbosh12 · 21/04/2022 15:41

@Mirabella3 I also just got over covid- had it at exactly same gestation as you give or take a day or two, doesn’t seem to have done baby any harm who is still wriggling and kicking away like it’s going out of fashion. I felt pretty rough for a couple of weeks but nowhere near hospital level ill and other than fatigue I’m fine now. But that could just be pregnancy! I do still have a lot of snot I suppose (charming) but really otherwise recovered fine. Try not to worry- as others have said a whole bunch of us have had it and been fine. Get well soon!

I also have a pram/buggy question- what are you all going for? We went to John Lewis to do one of those baby appointment things and got shown a bunch of prams, it was really useful actually and was free, so i would recommend if you’ve got a local JL, but I do feel a bit overwhelmed with the choice!
we need something that’ll fit in a car with a smallish boot (a Corsa) and it being a smooth ride is high on my list as I find bumpiness annoying lol. And easy to fold away etc.
Anyone chosen one already or perhaps used one for a previous baby that they’ve liked? ☺️

CoalCraft · 21/04/2022 15:42

@roughmeasures Good to know, thank you!

@Beth262 I dunno', my DD was born at 33 weeks (spontaneous labour) and even though every aspect of my and her care were at one hospital, there was never any investigation into why she came early either. I think it's just very hard to tell. One thing I think they can do though is measure your cervix and, if it's too short, put a stitch in it. My midwife was telling me about this, though no one's actually offered it to me. Was just wondering if that's what they planned to do you for you.

Personally I think extreme irritable uterus was the cause behind my prem labour and so far that hasn't returned so I'm feeling optimistic. I'd love to talk to a consultant about it but looks like I'll have to wait till at least 28/32 weeks :(

Let us know how it goes tomorrow!

I haven't been having nosebleeds but I have basically been bunged up throughout my entire second trimester so far (25 weeks). There also has been blood when I blow my nose (not due to overblowing). I am sure I have read that it's quite common...

ALSO this week I had a 25 week catch up with the midwife for my first bump measurement. I am slightly bigger than expected so am going for a gestational diabetes test next week - has anybody experienced this? And if so, did you ever have glucose detected in your urine? My urine has been all clear so far so have my fingers crossed.

Beth262 · 21/04/2022 16:35

@squatternutbosh12 No idea about prams yet though I have nursery furniture 🙈 I have an Oyster Zero for DS and have seen I can buy a basket to fit it but not a car seat unfortunately. It has suspension and all that jazz so is great for footpaths and things when taking the dog out. With DS I found the clip in and out Stokke car seat/chassis combo fantastic but it was clunky and huge and didn't fit in my i10. It was gifted to us by FIL and ended up buy a bigger car to accommodate. Would have been much cheaper to say no thanks and bought our own. Oh well! 🤣 I'd defo go for a combo travel system again though. Soo easy!

@CoalCraft ooh the thought of a stich made me squirm a bit! Haha. Yes, will let you know how it goes tomorrow and if useful, you can arm yourself with that for your appointment when you get it.

@SquigsC have my 25 week midwife apt on Tuesday. I'm nervous about being referred for GD myself as I've put on a stone and a half. I'm just starving all of the time! Hope all goes Ok for you and its just a lot of fluid you're carrying!

Best of luck for your appointment, @Beth262! To be honest, I wasn't expecting it at all - so I suppose weight gain/no weight gain may not necessarily mean anything? To be honest, I haven't been weighing myself - so maybe I have gained a lot of weight without knowing it.

And my hope is that I am full of fluid, not that I have GD or a BIG baby 😂

madeleine85 · 21/04/2022 17:52

@Beth262 good luck for the checkup omorrow. Hopefully they can just measure your cervix, and put your mind at rest. At least if they do a detailed check, they can see if it is fully closed, and a decent length, which personally I found very reassuring.

@SquigsC where I am they give the GD tests at 12 and 24 weeks as standard, so i'm already one down, next one coming. I hate the sugary drink, it is disgusting, and i'm buzzing for hours after. Down it as fast as you can, and bring something good to read. At least the results usually come quick (next day for me). Fingers crossed for no GD and no giant babies for anyone here :)

miltonj · 21/04/2022 19:18

Hi guys, anyone else getting round ligament pain? I got it with my first, can't remember it starting as soon as this though! It's really quite painful. It does go away quickly when I stop walking but literally walking a tiny distance triggers it, so walks out with the pram are becoming difficult!

Isonthecase · 21/04/2022 20:30

Sounds like we may have a few early babies here then! Mine have both been overdue so not looking forwards to being the last one 🙈 has anyone heard about summer babies generally arriving a bit earlier?

Anyone looking at a pram, I'd highly recommend buying second hand but in good nick and spending the money on a car seat. Most have adaptors with the travel systems so you can plug in a different brand and they often go up to 13kg which is about age 2. I've been eyeing up the babyzen yo-yo as they fold so small and handle well but they're pricey, have also heard great things about the city jogger although that is bigger. Jane do nice ones too, I like the trider with the adjustable suspension. It's handy having a baby carrier too and, again, generally buy second hand as most wash really well.

I got my cervix check results today and all good, it was nowhere near as bad as expected having it checked! They just whack a heavily lubed up stick thing up there but honestly if you've had sex to make this baby you've been through worse. No stitches though, that does not sound ideal. 😱

Beth262 · 21/04/2022 21:25

Thanks @madeleine85 yes, hopefully a detailed checks you say then to put my mind at ease because at the moment I just keep thinking "ok, I have 6 weeks to go"... 😬

OP posts:
madeleine85 · 21/04/2022 22:35

@Beth262 I totally understand that, and a week ago had those exact thoughts. Trully terrifying once you've been through a pre term labour situation in the past. Sending some positive hopes for a good outcome, and some actual checks tomorrow to make sure that things are ok x

Ems2208 · 22/04/2022 07:34

Yes it’s so hard to know isn’t it. How are you feeling symptom wise now? Crazy to think most of us are now over half way!! Hoped I might relax a bit by now!!

Celyn22 · 22/04/2022 12:41

@Isonthecase I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has heard about summer babies coming early! Is that because of the body temperature being higher?
