Chunks1376 · 17/06/2022 09:21

i haven’t phoned yet, it was just like 3 drops on the toilet tissue last night, going to keep a very close eye and if any more today will be phoning them asap.

Isonthecase · 17/06/2022 09:40

@Chunks1376 when I've had that it's been thrush, apparently quite common when you're run down and pregnant. Watch out for any pain and itching as you can get a pessary to sort.

SquigsC · 17/06/2022 09:46

In response to those talking about being at work - I have to admit I work from home but am still struggling! My new strategy is waddling up to the local pub to work as they have such good air con 😂but the temptation to nap all day is strong!

mamaof2girls · 17/06/2022 10:14

Finally reached 30 weeks today 🙈🙈 hopefully the next 10 weeks go in fast now! X

netflixandnochill · 17/06/2022 10:46

Anyone else hoping to win the euromillions whilst on mat leave so they don’t have to go back? 😬

ToCaden · 17/06/2022 12:25

Did my 4d scan today. Wasn't sure it would be worth the money, but now very glad I did it. Such good photos that really show his features and even little habits he has. He also has a lot of hair already and chubby cheeks and pouty lips.

Unknown6 · 17/06/2022 12:38

@netflixandnochill, i certainly bought a ticket yesterday when I saw the prize pot lol

Unknown6 · 17/06/2022 12:39

@ToCaden , how much are 4d scans?

ToCaden · 17/06/2022 12:55

@Unknown6 the company I went with had packages ranging from £60 to £145. I went for the most expensive one and it contained tons of video, pictures, photo keyrings, a bear with baby's heartbeat, a large framed photo and a slate photo. There were less photos and less mins of video and less extras as you go down the packages.

PopGoesBang · 17/06/2022 18:21

Hi all, been MIA as had a few things going on. Thankfully for once not myself!
Dd has now turned 9, we've had the central heating fitted so now just the house after that and adjusting to floorboard life downstairs (I'm not sure I like it, but time and budget is not allowing for any replacement yet). My mum ended up in hospital last week after having a couple of mini strokes, at one point I honestly thought I was going to get a call to say the worst, but thankfully her stubbornness has pulled her through and she is home recovering - she does also have shingles so I'm avoiding her currently just to be safe but ever thankful we are in a position that she's home and doing ok.

Oh I lie, the weekend before all that I did have some regular tightenings, to the point I called triage and was monitored. Told I was over doing it and to take it steady - glad to see the universe aligned and made that possible.

32+2 growth scan was on Tuesday, baby is 4lbs 3oz and following a nice curve. Baby is currently transverse so hoping she gets a wiggle on and changes that herself! And despite everything my blood sugars are doing great. The insulin has balanced out my fasting readings.
The fragmin injections are covering me in lovely bruises, perfect for a heatwave.

You all have my sympathy in this heat, I've been sat with my feet in dds paddling pool. Coping slightly better today than I was last night. I was a little on the grumpy/emotional side!

Sorry for the long ramble. Brain dumped on you all!

ToCaden · 17/06/2022 18:36

@PopGoesBang don't worry about brain dumping. It's nice to get an update.

Glad your mother is recovering. Had my own mother related crisis last weekend when mine fell on the stairs and had to go to a and e. Thankfully nothing too bad and her knee is recovering steadily.

It's interesting to see our babies weights grow. We're not too far off what I've heard full term smaller babies be.

My baby is currently breech and I swear he's doing his best to wiggle up into my ribcage. It's adding to my shortness of breath which is not helpful in this heat.

Is anyone planning to take raspberry leaf tea? If so when do you plan to start and what dosage are you planning on taking?

madeleine85 · 17/06/2022 18:49

@PopGoesBang and anyone else with parent woes, sorry you're going through some stress, but glad that overall they seem ok. It is so crazy to me to hear that the little ones are 4+lbs already. When DD came at 34.5 weeks she was 4lbs14. It makes me happy that everyone is getting large, as it means the babies are all getting safer by the day :).

I'm 29+3 and right now (less than 10 weeks to go as will be induced at 39). I feel him moving around, in that he clearly still is flipping up and down when he wants, and its just a weird pressure feeling when he is adjusting from upright to sideways. I swear I could feel his bum sticking out this morning. My belly was rock solid until he rolled over. Now he is back to my right side rib cage. It is weirdly reassuring, as the kicks are still pretty inconsistent (anterior placenta must be huge), but nice to feel the pressure changes/know he is moving. Hope you are all surviving the heatwave! Best advice I have is that if you are a sweaty betty right now, change your underwear multiple times a day and avoid thrush. Not fun when suffering through it. I haven't had it in years, and then multiple times in the last 2 months with the heat here. Also random question, but is anyone else still suffering from bleeding gums when flossing? I have been so good with dental care this pregnancy after losing a tooth after my last one, but every night I see it when flossing. Guessing I just have horrible teeth and the pregnancy is doing a number on them!

PopGoesBang · 17/06/2022 18:49

@ToCaden my dd was 6lbs 3oz when she was born at 40+1 and dropped to 5lb10oz ish if I remember right.
So I'm thinking I might be on course for a similar weight possibly a bit more - be interesting to see what 36 weeks can brings and of course birth weight to see how close the scans were! I'm just relieved there doesn't appear to be a 'giant baby' as I kept being warned about with the GD.

I'm glad your Mum is doing ok and recovering well. They are a worry at times aren't they!

I'm glad my ribs/lungs are avoiding everything currently, I'm sure I'll regret saying that soon.

No help with the raspberry leaf tea. I didn't have it last time and I decided this time, I've seen mixed messages regarding it and gestational diabetes, a question I can ask the diabetic midwife when I talk to her next. I think I've seen you can start from 32 weeks with a cup and then slowly increase to up to 3 a day?

Leg cramps, more specifically calf cramps, I wake up with them most mornings, anyone else? Today my calf feels bruised from it.

Gem2811 · 17/06/2022 19:30

@ToCaden I am planning on starting raspberry leaf tea on Monday (32 weeks) starting with 1 cup a day then increasing it the further on I get

Had my growth scan today and everything was perfect she's got so much hair already! And she is head down and sitting very low!

Isonthecase · 17/06/2022 21:29

Sorry to hear about the parent troubles, hope everyone recovers quickly.

@PopGoesBang I've had them first thing a few times but think it was dehydration and low salts. Can also be low magnesium apparently. Seem to have gone since I started having more salt but early days.

CoalCraft · 17/06/2022 21:29

Someone fill me in on the raspberry tea? Is it recommended in late pregnancy then?

@PopGoesBang Good to see you, sorry you've been having a hard time and hope your mum's recovery goes well. I often get mini-cramps in my calves when I wake up in the morning. I find as long as I flex my ankles hard as soon as I start to notice it it eases.

I'm looking forward to my 32 week growth scan in a week and a half. Baby was 2 lbs 8 oz back at 28 weeks so curious to see how much she's grown. She had a full head of hair back then so half expecting her to have flowing wavy locks this time 😁 DD1 was born at 33 weeks weighing 4 lbs 2 oz, so I guess this little one will be approaching that.

Also, her name has potentially changed! Her "working title" has been Eve, but we're really feeling Lois now ☺️

Unknown6 · 17/06/2022 22:05

@PopGoesBang , the cramps keep me awake :( I have them in my thighs though...tried all sorts!

What's the raspberry tea for?

Isonthecase · 17/06/2022 22:38

Raspberry leaf tea is meant to help prepare your uterus so it's stronger for eviction day and contracting back down after. I'm not sure it works but gave it a thorough go last time and was more overdue but a much quicker labour than first time.

netflixandnochill · 18/06/2022 06:45

Wishing the Mums a speedy recovery.

@PopGoesBang great the insulin has worked. Its the next step for me as they diagnosed GD through my blood monitoring despite my GTT being negative… Also, we’re in the middle of renovating a flat/moving and got our carpets on 0% finance from Carpet Right. Was so easy and is costing us £60 a month or something. Floorboards are lovely but we’re 1sr floor and we didn’t think it was fair to downstairs!

Also getting restless legs/calf cramps. Pure agony when they get ‘stuck’. Does anyone have any advice on how to help with them?

I’ve heard good things about raspberry leaf tea but more so when it’s used consistently instead of at 40+ weeks to try and kick start anything!

@CoalCraft I think we have similar dates as my next growth scan is a week on Tues - due date was 21st Aug but section booked at 38+1. Is your due date the similar?

I’m trying to go swimming now as it’s so nice to be in water and I’m so slow at walking anywhere!

CoalCraft · 18/06/2022 07:00

@Isonthecase Thanks for the explanation? Think I'd better avoid given my history, though maybe I'll reconsider at 37 weeks!

@netflixandnochill I'm due on the 20th, so yes! And my scan is also a week Tuesday ☺️ It must be exciting to know a precise date that you'll be meeting your little one. Are you counting down the days?

PopGoesBang · 18/06/2022 07:30

Thank you all for the well wishes for Mum. I'm so glad the family stubbornness helped with something.

@netflixandnochill good idea about the carpets, apart from the stairs I'm not sure we bother the neighbours and the stairs it's the dog charging up and down!
Apart from small day doable jobs I've put a ban on any major diy in July, I want to be able to start to feel homely and ready - I have no idea what that is, but if I don't put a ban on it I fear I'll come home at some point and the kitchen will be missing because Dp was 'just looking at something'.
Also the insulin is honestly ok, it was only fasting levels that I've had issues with. I've had a few in the 5s since and if that's happened a second morning I've then increased. I spoke to the diabetic midwife on Tuesday and she was happy with my approach even tho she said she should advise I up it right away - I started on 14 units and am now in 22. And if I do need to increase I will. Hope you find it an ok part of the journey too.

I think I'm going to be an end of July baby now - which is slightly scary, next month! But will know more at my 36 week scan on the 12th. Even if induction is booked I could just trickle into August depending on how it goes I guess.

netflixandnochill · 18/06/2022 07:42

@CoalCraft Yep! Counting down the days!

Having a date has made a huge difference to how I feel about it all and preparing. For me, I wanted a section from the start as I don’t do well in out of control or rapidly changing situations. And I’m fully away of the undertaking of such a choice. Now the section has been brought forward and is medical, not elective it’s scarier but I’m receiving great care and that’s all I can really ask for.

@PopGoesBang That’s really helpful re insulin. It’s such hard balance between being so conscious about what and when you’re eating but also battling cravings. My husband is obsessed with Tony’s chocolate and all I can do is look at it! 😂

PopGoesBang · 18/06/2022 07:47

@netflixandnochill have a look at the gestational diabetes.co.uk site, their fb page is also great. There are loads of 'treat' ideas that are tried and tested. And keep an eye out for the Oppo ice cream. I'm not much of an ice cream fan, but honestly having that in the freezer and knowing I can reach for it is great. My dd has had some squishy sweets this week, and it's been so hard not to dip my hand in and take one... they smell amazing 😂

netflixandnochill · 18/06/2022 07:51

@PopGoesBang Thanks, will do.

@CoalCraft Forgot to say - Lois is such a cute name!! 💕

beckybloomwood11 · 18/06/2022 10:27

Sympathising with everyone with the leg cramps... I've been waking up most mornings with them, but sometimes get some cramping in the afternoon which is horrible!

How organised is everyone for baby coming? I'd say I'm about 50% organised, but I'm not due till the end of August so still have time. Can't help feeling like I should be more organised than I am!
