BFPs following IVF to take symptoms & scans

1000 replies

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 07:27

Hi everyone.

I've started this group for us to chat about our symptoms, scans and any other pregancy related issues after getting a BFP following IVF/IUI/ICSI.

It is by no means to leave anyone out of the previous groups we have been in, where we all offer advice and help during an IVF cycle.

We all know hearing people's positive pregancy news can be heart breaking. I just found on the group that we are talking scans, symptoms, signs and positive tests I'm very conscious that those currently mid cycle may get upset.

We can all still give advice but maybe we could use this group as our pregnancies progress.

I've tagged who I remember from the last group, please feel free to add others as they join us on this next phase of our journey or if I have missed anyone.

@bajanbump glad to hear both babies are doing well. Sorry to hear you were sick again. The massage could have something to do with it.

@Gigi89x sorry I don't have any experience on blood thinners - but exciting you are getting through your appointments.

@2mumlife glad to hear you are finding the third trimester ok. So exciting you only have 7 weeks left of work!

@Bluehawaii29 so pleased your swab came back good and you can resume normal activities.

Bluehawaii29 · 07/07/2022 17:45

@Overlyanxious thank you, was huge relief! Especially after I had a nightmare that it came back high last night!

seven201 · 07/07/2022 19:00

@Bluehawaii29 that is good news!

Bluehawaii29 · 07/07/2022 19:06

@seven201 thank you, yeah consultant was really sweet, told me I should be doing normal things and enjoying the pregnancy and to stop bed resting immediately 😂 she said to me do you want clexane injections or not (bed rest increasing blood clots) and I was like hell no so that’s how she convinced me to be a normal person again and this Saturday my parents are arranging a bbq with the in laws so we are doing the gender reveal then, excited about that now :) x

2mumlife · 07/07/2022 21:33

@Bluehawaii29 Sounds like a really reassuring Dr you saw. It'll give you some reassurance being on progesterone, and good that they are intending to scan you again just to make sure everythings a-ok. Has Dr said, try to just go about as normal and enjoy the pregnancy!

@Overlyanxious Have you started making plans for your mat leave yet?

Overlyanxious · 08/07/2022 13:34

@2mumlife not made any plans yet. I do need to start thinking about everything - but can't quite face it yet. Hopefully after my rearranged 20 week scan next week. I keep worrying about movements - I've had some and some days seem quiet - but I know it's still early at 22 weeks.

Bluehawaii29 · 08/07/2022 14:28

@Overlyanxious heya what day is your scan next week? Mine got rebooked for Monday to check baby’s head properly as was in a difficult position that day, really hope she is awake and active this time as last time was sleeping and just didn’t want to move her head!

Overlyanxious · 08/07/2022 14:32

@Bluehawaii29 it's Monday afternoon - so not too long now. Really hope baby is in the right position to finish off the checks. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you as well

Bluehawaii29 · 08/07/2022 14:39

@Overlyanxious thats great! I always seem to share a scan day with one of you guys which is nice :) good luck for your checks x

bajanbump · 08/07/2022 19:00

@Bluehawaii29 congrats on your results!! one less thing to worry about!!

Ladies, I don't know if this is TMI, but.. have you noticed an increased body odor? Tbh this is driving me crazy, I am very sensitive to smells even when I'm not pregnant and now I feel like I need to take 2-3 showers a day to smell/feel fresh..

I clean my clothes non-stop, especially pants and underwear and feel super self-conscious :( I had never experienced anything like this, so I'm sure is the hormones..but still, maybe you have found a special soap or whatever that helps

Bryterlayter1 · 08/07/2022 21:09

@bajanbump yes! I've noticed that too! DP has noticed anything so I think it is my sense of smell rather than a change in odour.

bajanbump · 08/07/2022 21:53

@Bryterlayter1 thank God I'm not the only one who feels it LOL

2mumlife · 09/07/2022 09:25

@Overlyanxious I still have quieter days with movements - I try not to worry about it as long as I'm feeling some movements throughout the day. Yesterday I felt like I was being beaten up from the inside so grateful for a quieter morning! Hopefuly everything goes smoothly at your repeat scan.

@bajanbump I think as @bajanbump said its probably just a change in your sense of smell, rather than your actual smell :)

Overlyanxious · 11/07/2022 16:20

@2mumlife thanks.

Luckily got the full measurements at the scan today. I opted for eating chocolate and walking around to try to keep him awake. Everything was fine so hopefully I can feel a bit less anxious.

@bajanbump I do smell a bit more but that's because I'm sweating so much with the increased temperature.

Bluehawaii29 · 11/07/2022 20:20

@Overlyanxious glad your scan went well
mine was showing cervix length had shortened since last week so they have done an emergency cervical stitch today at 21+1 week. The procedure was uncomplicated but now I’m staying in hospital for 2 nights for bed rest and monitoring. Been feeling very down that this has happened but am thankful they acted fast

Overlyanxious · 11/07/2022 21:01

@Bluehawaii29 I'm sorry to hear that but glad they've acted so quickly. I can understand why you feel down about it. Sending virtual hugs

Gigi89x · 11/07/2022 21:22

@Bluehawaii29 i hope you are getting some rest and hope you feel better soon x

Justawannabemam · 11/07/2022 21:40

Hey everyone . For some reason I've just started getting notifications through.

I've nit really read through all the messages I hope everyone is well and progressing x I'm at 24 week stage . All going well. I has all measurements taken and all was good. The placenta is low and covering the cervix so hopefully that moves its self otherwise I'm having a section. I've read its quite common so I'm hoping it shifts itself x

Still resisting thr temptation to find out if team pink or team blue. I've just ordered a cot. And I've got a pram and some furniture which my friend had for her grand daughter and have hardly been used. All moving quickly .x

@Overlyanxious That's great everything came back fine. I found the anxiety really started to reduce after the 20 week scan - in just a couple of weeks baby would have a good chance of survival even if it came very early (I know this gave me a lot of reassurance)

@Bluehawaii29 Urgh I'm sorry your cervix has shortened again and you've opted to have a cervical stitch :( I hope you've been able to get some rest in the hospital and feeling ok. Try not to feel down - you've made the best decision for you in the circumstances, and its better they have monitored and taken preventative action than for it to have become a problem. Will you need further monitoring or is that it now until they take it out before labour?

@Justawannabemam Great to hear everything is going well with you. Hopefully placenta shifts so you can have more choices about the birth you want

Justawannabemam · 12/07/2022 09:12

Great sale on amazon ladies . I've just got a tommee tippee steriliser for 47 pound and some Motorola baby monitors. X today and tomorrow only.

@Overlyanxious glad everything went well the second time around!

@Bluehawaii29 sorry to hear about the issues with your cervix! I hope you're getting lots of rest now and not feeling too down. Any complication is tough but on the plus side, it's been noticed early and had preventative measures quickly. So hopefully it's smoother sailing for you for the rest of your pregnancy and I assume they'll monitor you quite regularly?

@Justawannabemam lovely to hear from you! So glad to hear all is going well. You've done well not to find out, I caved at 17 weeks 😂 I'm too nosey. We've bought quite a lot already too but it won't arrive until the end of august. Sounds like you got some good bargains!

@seven201 how are you doing lovely?

All is well with me. Not much to report here. Feeling lots of wiggles and kicks, we can see a lot of it on the outside too when he's in a good position. Loving it so far! I'm getting my fitting done next week for my maternity scrubs! Starting to bust out of these ones.

seven201 · 12/07/2022 11:26

@xreadytoglow thanks for checking on me. I had a scan yesterday and the heart has stopped and it stopped growing. All pretty crap. This will be our fourth miscarriage. Sorry, don't want to put a downer on your happy thread.

xreadytoglow · 12/07/2022 11:38

@seven201 oh I'm so so sorry. I was really hoping it would be better news for you.

Gigi89x · 12/07/2022 11:39

@seven201 I'm so very sorry to hear this,
This is such sad news. I hope you have got the support of your partner or family at the moment 💐

Overlyanxious · 12/07/2022 12:45

@seven201 I'm so sorry to hear this. Please take care of yourself x
