BFPs following IVF to take symptoms & scans

1000 replies

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 07:27

Hi everyone.

I've started this group for us to chat about our symptoms, scans and any other pregancy related issues after getting a BFP following IVF/IUI/ICSI.

It is by no means to leave anyone out of the previous groups we have been in, where we all offer advice and help during an IVF cycle.

We all know hearing people's positive pregancy news can be heart breaking. I just found on the group that we are talking scans, symptoms, signs and positive tests I'm very conscious that those currently mid cycle may get upset.

We can all still give advice but maybe we could use this group as our pregnancies progress.

I've tagged who I remember from the last group, please feel free to add others as they join us on this next phase of our journey or if I have missed anyone.

I'm really sorry to hear that @SurreyCMummy take care of yourself. It is such a torturous journey but as someone else says, it is at least good to know that you can get pregnant. Fingers crossed for your future cycles xx

@Factualmistakes congratulations! It must be so nerve wracking especially with a history of a loss before. It's great that you are further now though, everything crossed for your viability scan. The wait for that scan I think was the worst wait I had so I can sympathise.

@Bryterlayter1 Heyy 👋🏼 glad your tiredness is easing now. I think mine went around the same time too.

@2mumlife aw, a kick that makes you jump is so sweet. I can't wait for that and for my wife to feel it too. That's frustrating about your scan and measuring bigger, hopefully baby will start to even out over the next coming weeks so they stop pressuring you to induce! I would hate that too..

Nothing much to report here. Just waiting for my 20w scan next Weds!

Bluehawaii29 · 16/06/2022 16:52

@SurreyCMummy sorry to hear your news, it is awful when that happens but I have good faith you will be ok next time xx
@Factualmistakes congrats on your positive result and fingers crossed viability scan goes well 🤞I was a nervous wreck for the whole first trimester and even beyond. Try and think positive and it will be ok xx
@2mumlife glad your scan went well and good luck for your GTT results x yes the medicalisation can be annoying. I will have the same thing I’m sure as having this e growth scans from 28 weeks and they were already talking about induction at 38 weeks which I don’t quite know how I feel about. Part of me just wants to see my baby but I also hear induction is even more painful!

Today I did my first official pregnancy announcement on social media with this personalised photo from Etsy. Was so nice to finally be able to tell the world as my heart couldn’t contain it anymore. Bursting with pride for the little one already ❤️❤️

@xreadytoglow good luck for the 20 week scan next weds, I’m sure it will be great xx

Factualmistakes · 16/06/2022 18:18

@Bluehawaii29 thank you. That is a beautiful announcement photo 😍

xreadytoglow · 16/06/2022 18:43

@Bluehawaii29 thank you!! Aww so amazing that you've announced.. it's such a great feeling & I love the photo too. We used one from Etsy too, they're soo good, it was hard to choose! Enjoy all the messages of love from your friends and family x

Bluehawaii29 · 16/06/2022 19:22

@Factualmistakes @xreadytoglow aww thank you both 🥰 yes the love from friends and family has been lovely to see xx

seven201 · 16/06/2022 20:15

Hello. Is this group for people who were already in an established ivf thread/ group or can anyone join? I won't be offended if it's not really for newbies! I could start a new thread for women due through ivf from feb onwards or something.

I have finally had a bfp after my 6th ivf transfer. I'm very early days and have had 3 natural early miscarriages also. This is a eupaloid embryo and I'm on immune treatment, so hoping this makes a difference! I also have a naturally conceived 6 year old (wanted a 2 year age gap!).

2mumlife · 17/06/2022 14:39

@xreadytoglow Its a bit of a funny one, as really if I start dropped below the 90th centile line at next scan they'll start worrying about growth restriction. My mum was a midwife and was saying how inaccurate growth scans are so I guess we'll just see. Good news at least is my GTT came back normal, though my iron levels are low (not really a surprise as I don't eat red meat and had problems with anaemia before) so getting prescribed supplements (even though I already taken iron in my multivit but oh well, I obviously need some more anyway). Good luck for the 20 week scan :)

@Bluehawaii29 I'm big against having interventions, but I've got 2 strikes now (IVF pregnancy and bigger baby) but ultimately they can't induce me or perform a sweep without consent, I've just got to stay stubborn. They've said if I decline induction they'll offer more scans if I go past 40 weeks to keep an eye on things. At least my GTT results are normal or that would have been strike 3.... That's a cute wee photo :)

@seven201 Welcome and tentative congratulations! Wishing you a smooth pregnancy journey!

Factualmistakes · 17/06/2022 14:41

@seven201 welcome - I only joined yesterday and I am in the early stages too (7wk tomorrow). Congratulations on your BFP and I hope everything goes well for you.

seven201 · 17/06/2022 18:16

@Factualmistakes thanks and welcome to you too!

@2mumlife I think the growth scans can be very inaccurate. Good news about the GT. I had a late diagnosis of GD with my dd, it was quite annoying as I didn't know what to eat. Hope you've not been too uncomfy in the heat today. The offer of extra monitoring sounds good.

2mumlife · 18/06/2022 08:07

@seven201 Unfortunately (though perhaps fortunately) I'm one of the ones sitting in Scotland wondering what the hell you're all on about with the heatwave - we sat is miserable rain all day yesterday! Yeah really pleased not to have to deal with GD (I love bread!). Just knackered to be honest. I'm lucky that I'm still sleeping great, but I just want to sleep all the time at the moment!

Overlyanxious · 19/06/2022 12:13

Hi, at lot seems to have happened whilst I’ve been in Spain. It was crazy hot there, but lovely. I thought I caught a cold but after getting home late last night did a Covid test and got a positive 😞 hoping I’m over the main bit of it as started feeling like I had a cold on Wednesday.

@2mumlife that’s good you are still able to sleep. I hope you can continue to keep away from induction. I’ve read so many threads of growth scans being incorrect re. Size of baby when born. I’m feeling a bit anxious still - but not as bad as before.

@seven201 @Factualmistakes welcome to the group. Hoping everything progresses well for you both.

@Bluehawaii29 that’s a lovely announcement picture.

@xreadytoglow exciting you only have to wait till Wednesday for the 20 week scan.

seven201 · 19/06/2022 12:51

@Overlyanxious sorry about the covid. How any weeks are you and are you vaccinated? Covid does seem to be mild these days for most. I hope you're over the worst of it.

Overlyanxious · 19/06/2022 15:23

@seven201 I’m 20 weeks on Wednesday. Meant to have my scan on Friday but will ring up to let them know. I’m also vaccinated. I’ve managed to avoid Covid all this time and annoyed I’ve got it now.

bajanbump · 19/06/2022 17:02

Happy Sunday ladies! Hope your week has been a good one. Mine saw the return of sickness (and I thought I was done :( ) and the addition of incredible annoying gas...which helps maintain the sickness..I've already made peace with the fact that Im gonna have a hard pregnancy and I'm just trying to make myself as comfortable as possible

@2mumlife I'm sorry to hear about the birth plans they are trying to push on you and I agree growth measures can be wrong/confusing.

I spent the week with a bit of anxiety because my baby's percentiles at the 13-week scan are all between the 30%-60% ..so one will think small right? but then they have both been dates ahead (2 and 3 days ahead) so I am a bit confused, to be honest. If someone with a more mathematical head than mine can share a bit of light I would be very thankful. The measure that concerns me more is the HC which is at 30% but then the BDP is at 60%? I guess both being in breech position doesn't help with head measures..but been a bit anxious not gonna lie..although the doctor didn't seem a bit concerned

@Overlyanxious I'm so sorry to hear you got covid :( at least that means you will pass immunity over to the baby right? I had 2 friends who got covid will pregnant and that's what the dr told them

@seven201 @Factualmistakes congratulations and welcome!!

@Bluehawaii29 love the announcement!! We are doing a few photos next week on the beach. I know 15 weeks is a bit early for a pregnancy photoshoot but since I already got a bump and I'm gonna be attending to some events where people are gonna share pics online, I thought I might as well do it first lol

@xreadytoglow how have you been this week?

Has anyone done a prenatal massage? Im thinking of treating myself to one next week

seven201 · 19/06/2022 18:43

@Overlyanxious from the little I know it's only a worry when very pregnant because of how squashed all your organs/lungs are. So good to get it in the second trimester. And the immunity to baby is a good bonus! You'll prob be negative by Friday's scan, but worth giving them a call in case it's easier to move it to the Monday or something.

@bajanbump sorry about the sickness and gas. I had a really rough pregnancy with my dd - I was so jealous of women who enjoyed being pregnant physically. Sorry, I don't know much about centiles but it doesn't sound like anything to worry about to me.

xreadytoglow · 19/06/2022 19:02

@seven201 welcome & congratulations! You're more than welcome here. Hoping this is your sticky bean this time. Do you have a viability scan coming up?

@2mumlife glad your GTT came back normal! That's one less of a worry. I'm also on one iron tablet a day. At least we know we're definitely getting what we need now. Might explain your tiredness as you said!

@Overlyanxious glad that you had a good time in Spain! Hope you recover soon from covid and test negative before your scan 🤞🏼 I'm sure you will if this started last week!

@bajanbump heyyy 👋🏼! Aw no I'm sorry you still have sickness.. that's no fun. How far along are you now? As far as I know about the percentiles, we don't measure here that early. I think it starts from about 17 weeks here? I may be wrong. But I haven't had any head or abdominal measurements or talks of percentiles yet, so perhaps it's just deemed too early to be tracking growth that way? Try not to worry! I'm sure they're doing just fine in there. The prenatal massage sounds AMAZING. I'll definitely be looking into that myself in the next couple of months.. I love love loovveee getting massages. 💆🏻‍♀️

& I'm doing well thank you for asking! It's funny, when I told @2mumlife that I couldn't wait for my wife to feel baby, that night she felt him kick! I drank a few gulps of orange cordial and felt some stirring, so I asked her to come feel (for the millionth time..) and this time he actually did a big kick for her to feel. 🥰 She was over the moon. She hasn't felt it since though, but over the past 3 days I've really felt movement ramp up and now I feel him tapping and rolling around several times throughout the day. Best feeling ever.

seven201 · 19/06/2022 22:07

@xreadytoglow thank you. I have a viability scan at miscarriage clinic on the 28th. So not long to wait, although feels like ages of course.

So nice your wife got to feel the baby have a good kick! How many weeks are you?

Overlyanxious · 20/06/2022 10:41

@bajanbump sorry to hear the sickness is back - that’s so rubbish. I was told by the sonographer that the measurements even out more by the 20 week scan so I wouldn’t worry about what you have at the 13 week scan. I don’t understand how those measurements and the being ahead works unfortunately.

@seven201 thanks - that’s reassuring.

@xreadytoglow thats great about all the movement and your wife being able to feel as well. I still feel unsure if I’m just making up all the movements I’m feeling/ if it’s something else.

xreadytoglow · 20/06/2022 19:24

@seven201 I hope the time passes quickly for you! I think that's the most agonising wait so be kind to yourself until then, take some time out for you and do things that keep you busy and make you happy. I'm 20 weeks x

Bluehawaii29 · 20/06/2022 19:24

Hey girls! Sorry I’m just catching up with everyone’s messages
@Overlyanxious sorry to hear the dreaded covid got you. I also been doing my best to dodge it these past 2 yrs, admin staff at work got tested positive on sat but luckily my lat flows still been ok. I have really bad hayfever though so bunged up with that with sneezing and nose can be like a tap at times, thankfully not constant but still trying to stay off meds. hope you feel better soon and you can enjoy your 20 week scan that you have been patiently waiting for x

@xreadytoglow thats cool you can actually feel the kicks from outside now! Mine is a wriggler, moving lots especially between 3-5pm everyday bizarrely. It’s like clock work everyday so starting to look forward to those times each day. Today I was at work and I know I said I wouldn’t but I checked with a Doppler again today and on Friday and managed to do it on my own. Heard loads of movements first, was zooming from side to side and finally managed to catch him/her. That feeling when you hear the heart beat never seems to get old! Good luck with your20 weeks scan! Mine is exactly 2 weeks to go today

@2mumlife great news about your GTT! Another hurdle passed :) wishing you smooth sailing all the way x

@bajanbump sorry to hear the sickness is back and try not to worry too much about measurements etc, it can be sometimes I bit different with twins but I’m sure all will be ok with the 20 week scan.

@seven201 welcome to the group and good luck for your viability scan on 28th!

Bryterlayter1 · 20/06/2022 20:27

@xreadytoglow and @Bluehawaii29 when did you start to feel the baby? I think I've felt the baby since last week, I'm 18 weeks. But not sure. Feels like something wriggling in my abdomen

Bluehawaii29 · 20/06/2022 20:33

@Bryterlayter1 started feeling some flutters at 15 weeks and when I went to midwife appt at 16 weeks and she was doing Doppler confirmed to me that was baby moving. Since then been feeling some pops/ rolls/ swishes etc getting gradually stronger each week x

xreadytoglow · 20/06/2022 21:35

@Bryterlayter1 I felt like a bubble popping sensation at about 16 weeks. Then I'd go days without feeling anything. Then it progressed to a tap at about 18 weeks I think? It's only over the past week (so at 19 weeks) that they feel like actual unmistakable baby movements. Before then I still wasn't 100% if it was baby or not or it just wasn't regular enough.

Factualmistakes · 21/06/2022 10:23

About to head off for my viability scan. I'm so nervous but keeping my fingers crossed. Don't know if I feel sick because of symptoms or nerves - probably both. We lost one of our pets yesterday so I could really do with some good news.

I hope everyone has a nice sunny Tuesday.
