BFPs following IVF to take symptoms & scans

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 07:27

Hi everyone.

I've started this group for us to chat about our symptoms, scans and any other pregancy related issues after getting a BFP following IVF/IUI/ICSI.

It is by no means to leave anyone out of the previous groups we have been in, where we all offer advice and help during an IVF cycle.

We all know hearing people's positive pregancy news can be heart breaking. I just found on the group that we are talking scans, symptoms, signs and positive tests I'm very conscious that those currently mid cycle may get upset.

We can all still give advice but maybe we could use this group as our pregnancies progress.

I've tagged who I remember from the last group, please feel free to add others as they join us on this next phase of our journey or if I have missed anyone.

@Millymillymillymillymilly sorry hadn't seen your msg. I'm 19 weeks tomorrow! It's gone by so fast. Aww I know what you mean, I miss my dog so much when I'm away I get itchy feet to come home after a while too.

Bluehawaii29 · 10/06/2022 20:54

@xreadytoglow aww that’s great, only one week to go till you see baby again! X

bajanbump · 11/06/2022 20:28

Hi ladies!! Hope you all had an amazing week (one more down!!)

I had quite an eventful one...I called the doctor on Tuesday after having sent an email re the NT the previous week and guess what.. they had not done it! I was livid that she didnt even mention it to me or give me an option to decide if I wanted it or not..Anyway it turns out she couldnt do this type of scan herself so she offered me an appointment today with another Dr. I was mad but I still said yes... well come Thursday evening she emailed me saying that the other DR could not perform it either and that she would try to send me to a diagnostic center. I was furious and felt so uncared for..plus I didnt wanna go to a diagnostic center where a technician takes measures and doesnt tell you anything, just sends the results to your doctor.. I knew my anxiety could not take it. I called her on Friday morning and I told her i wanted the scan that same day and I wanted to know the results at the same time. She assured me that they were done by doctors in that center and that I would know the results..

So after days of stress, I headed to the scan yesterday super anxious. Thank GOD the radiologist was an absolute rockstar..he took like an hour to measure each single part of the two babies, had a lot of patience answering all my questions.. and the most important both NT came back low risk!! Babies are growing and are both above their "age". Doctor would not confirm 100% but says what he saw pointed more to two baby girls. My partner is still processing LOOOL

It was so amazing to see both bodies in detail, their spines, their little legs and bones. What a miracle!!

On top of the scan stress on Wednesday I misread my blood test and thought I was prediabetic and spent 2 hours crying. I was so frustrated and scared bc I have not been eating anything so I could not understand LOL pregnancy brain and drama in full action for me this week lol

On a positive note, my morning sickness seemed to magically start diminishing once I hit 13 weeks.. i still get nauseous sometimes and im sick almost every morning but it's 10 times better compared to the previous weeks. I feel im getting back my health and my mood.

bajanbump · 11/06/2022 20:35

Also ladies.. am I crazy thinking about buying the strollers already? There's a huge discount on doona strollers and since I need to buy two I am really considering doing it..

When did you start buying more things or when do you think you will start?

I have already set up my registry on amazon LOL but won't share it until I am 25-26 weeks..I think?

If you have set up your registry what essentials have you included?

I just keep thinking that when I am 5-6 months along ill start getting so tired that i might as well prepare all logistics and admin before hand LOL

JMC91 · 12/06/2022 13:16

@bajanbump what an absolute mess around 😩
I’m glad everything looks good now that you have the results

Gigi89x · 12/06/2022 15:05

I did another pregnancy test today and the line is getting lighter on the right hand side towards the handle. Does anyone know why this is? But the line near the pee stick getting darker. Im worried about one line getting lighter?!

Sorry for my terrible writing🤣 top one 11 days . Bottom 17 days

xreadytoglow · 12/06/2022 15:56

@Gigi89x it's a good thing 😊 it's called a dye stealer. There's that much HcG in your pee that it's stealing dye from the control line. It only has so much dye in it.

@bajanbump go for it!! I've bought practically everything already... but we wanted to get it all out of the way so we can start saving again and know the big things are done! Also we couldn't wait 😂

Gigi89x · 12/06/2022 15:58

@xreadytoglow thats a relief thanks for explaining !! I need to stop testing now but cant help myself 😩

2mumlife · 13/06/2022 14:59

Hi everyone, just trying to catch up after a week away in the sun! @JMC91
enjoy Mallorca that's where we were :)

@Overlyanxious Hope you've been able to find strategies to help with your anxiety. Not long until your 20 week scan now and hopefully some reassurance. I'm 28 weeks this week, so into the third trimester now, and its starting to all feel a bit scarily close and real!

@bajanbump How frustrating about the NT measurement! Glad everything is looking good with your little ones. We've got a lot of things through barter and swap pages and from my sister who had a baby last year - not expecting anyone to buy as gifts so not set up any kind of registry

@Bluehawaii29 Hope you're feeling better now

@Gigi89x Congratulations!

@xreadytoglow You soon get used to feeling weird movements and seeing your stomach move. My movements have really picked up another notch though in the last week. Hope you get your blood results back soon

I've got the GTT and first growth scan on Thursday so hoping everything goes well. I'm still looking comparatively really small I think for 28 weeks - my bump is definitely more wide and spread out, than defined and forward!

Bluehawaii29 · 13/06/2022 20:12

hi guys hope you are all well, @2mumlife im glad you enjoyed Majorca and nice bump you got :) I’m sure your GTT and growth scans will be good x
I returned to work today after 2 weeks away, was a hectic day made worse by the fact that I gave in to my urge and tried to find heart beat on Doppler. When the midwife did it last weds she found it straight away so made me a bit more confident about doing it on myself. But baby didn’t show up for what felt like ages and started to panic, Then two of my colleagues came to the rescue and managed to find it and was such a relief. Am falling so in love already with the little one and can’t imagine my life without he/she, heart feels like it’s going to burst. Don’t know how people manage to get through 9 months, finding it very hard. It’s ashame I can’t send the video we took of it on mumsnet as they only allow photos. So I’ll send you a pic of my bump yesterday at 17week+2 x

Bluehawaii29 · 13/06/2022 20:26

@Gigi89x yep that’s a dye stealer! Happened to me too but don’t test too much longer as soon the test line will look lighter than control like because hcg goes so high and you won’t be able to see it unless you dilute some of your urine with water. Lol trust me I’ve done it all! I stopped resting after 6-7 weeks but would advise stopping now x

xreadytoglow · 14/06/2022 09:26

Hey @2mumlife 👋🏼 so glad you had a good time away!! Cute little bump. Maybe it's a girl since it's wider 👀 although I'm sure all these old wives tales are rubbish, but that's what made people guess boy with me, because my bump was all out in front. Hope your growth scan and GTT goes well! Good to hear you're feeling lots of movements now.. I can't wait for that.

Cute bump @Bluehawaii29 ! Glad you heard HB in the end but you have to stop stressing yourself out! Easier said than done I know 😂
I'm falling in love more and more too. We call him by his name at home now so it all feels super real.

JMC91 · 14/06/2022 13:59

Just had 20 week scan and I was convinced they were going to say boy (after hearing ‘he’ at the last scan) but it’s a girl 💓

2mumlife · 14/06/2022 14:59

@Bluehawaii29 Thank you :) Really hoping GTT comes back fine as sounds such a nightmare to deal with GD. It was my birthday on Monday so I'm enjoying all the cake whilst I can just in case lol. I've avoided purchasing a doppler as I think it would make me anxious actually - its great you had some colleagues to be able to help find the heartbeat. Your bumps growing nicely :)

@xreadytoglow I don't believe in the different old wives tales to be honest. DP is convinced at the 20 week scan the sonographer used a male pronoun at one point (though I never noticed), so I'm more expecting its going to be a boy to be honest, and there seems to be a bit of a consensus among friends that they can see us more having a boy than a girl, but we'll see. And as @JMC91 has just experienced they might just have used a male pronoun by default! (congratulations on 20 week scan!) Probably un PC to say this, but the movements are actually a bit distracting now I'm back at work lol lots of movements low down today when I'm trying to concentrate on meetings 🙄

Bluehawaii29 · 14/06/2022 15:07

@2mumlife aww happy belated bday! Hope it was a nice day, yeah gestational diabetes is a pain, I’m sure you be ok though, yes definitely stay away from Doppler! At least I know now that I wouldn’t have coped well with home Doppler and was just lucky I had my colleagues to help me out as when I tried checking myself it was radio silence!
@JMC91 beautiful baby girl! Congrats my love ❤️

xreadytoglow · 14/06/2022 15:33

@2mumlife no I don't think there's any truth to them either! Will you be asking to find out or just wait until the birth now? Aww wriggly baby 🥰 I imagine it is quite distracting! Especially when they start to hurt later on!

@JMC91 aww congratulations!! 💖 glad everything was okay at your scan. I think most people tend to say 'he' sometimes just as a general term, even though they don't know themselves. So confusing for you though.

SurreyCMummy · 14/06/2022 18:12

Hello, I’m new to this so sorry if this is a repeat question. I have had a positive pregnancy test following a fresh IVF cycle, day 3 transfer. I’ve had the two bloods tests, one to confirm pregnancy and one two days later to confirm hcg levels had gone up sufficiently. I’m now 5 weeks 5 days, I’ve done two Clearblue pregnancy tests and they say 1-2 weeks, when they should say 3+ weeks. I’m now really anxious as have to wait a week for my scan. Has anyone else experienced this at all? Thank you

xreadytoglow · 15/06/2022 11:50

Hi @SurreyCMummy, the weeks indicators are notoriously inaccurate. Please try not to worry. If you are seeing good line progression I'm sure everything is fine. Try again in a week if you want to but please don't use them as gospel. I've heard some women don't get 3+ weeks at all.

Bryterlayter1 · 15/06/2022 12:31

Hi All

Sorry I don't post much anymore. I read the thread pretty regularly to keep up with everyone's development. I don't feel I have much to post. It's all progressing just fine and thankfully I haven't had any scares (fingers crossed that continues). Into week 17 now and I'm relieved that the tiredness is subsiding a bit. I felt so exhausted in trimester 1, so I'm glad to feeling a bit more like myself.

Anyway, hope all is well with everyone.

bajanbump · 15/06/2022 13:55

@SurreyCMummy if your blood levels have gone up properly, that's the most important thing.

When did you have your blood tests?

bajanbump · 15/06/2022 14:12

@2mumlife @Bluehawaii29 such cute bumps!!!

@JMC91 congrats on your gorgeous little girl!!

SurreyCMummy · 15/06/2022 20:21

Thank you for your comment. I went for another blood test today and my hcg levels has dropped significantly so sadly due to miscarry. This fertility journey is so full of emotions, hope to have better news in the future x

Bryterlayter1 · 15/06/2022 20:45

@SurreyCMummy so sorry to read this, I hope you have support around you.

Factualmistakes · 16/06/2022 11:02

Hello group. I'm cautiously saying hello.

I tested positive just over 2 weeks ago and currently 6+5. Finding it hard to actually believe and the wait for my viability scan next week seems forever. This is my 2nd pregnancy from ICSI in 6 months. My first fresh transfer ended in early MC at new year and although I feel lucky to have a positive test from my FET, the worry is always there. I'm hoping that if all goes well next week I can start to try and relax. As of today I am further along than I got last time so I'm taking that as a win!
So far my symptoms have been on and off, worse one day and better the next. If all goes well I should be due late Jan/early Feb 23. I last took a test on Sunday and there was still a strong positive, so I've hidden them away now!
It is nice to chat to people with similar dates, and also those further ahead so that we know what's coming.

2mumlife · 16/06/2022 14:30

@Bluehawaii29 Aww thank you :)

@xreadytoglow Nah we would prefer not to know. I've had a couple of punches that have taken me so by surprise I've actually jumped lol

@Bryterlayter1 Glad everything is progressing well :)

@bajanbump Thank you :)

@SurreyCMummy I'm sorry to hear this time hasn't progressed for you. I had a chemical pregnancy in June, so there is hope after an early loss. My clinic told me at the time even a chemical pregnancy is good news, as it was evidence I could get pregnant, that we just needed a healthy embryo xxx

@Factualmistakes I think we have all been there in that nervousness, particularly if you've experienced a loss before. Keeping everything crossed for your viability scan.

Had my 28 week growth scan today. Feeling frustrated that despite having a small bump and eating well they think baby is measuring big at an estimated 1.3kg (90th centile). Mostly just annoyed as means consultant was pushing induction again which I'm adamant I don't want (and don't want to do sweeps either which was his backup option). Its annoying knowing there is going to be that added push from now on to accept medical interventions I don't want. Next growth scan in 4 weeks so we'll see how things are going then I guess. Otherwise everything looked totally fine, just have to wait for my GTT results which I was told should also hopefully get back later today, just hoping they come back normal now 🤞
