BFPs following IVF to take symptoms & scans

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 07:27

Hi everyone.

I've started this group for us to chat about our symptoms, scans and any other pregancy related issues after getting a BFP following IVF/IUI/ICSI.

It is by no means to leave anyone out of the previous groups we have been in, where we all offer advice and help during an IVF cycle.

We all know hearing people's positive pregancy news can be heart breaking. I just found on the group that we are talking scans, symptoms, signs and positive tests I'm very conscious that those currently mid cycle may get upset.

We can all still give advice but maybe we could use this group as our pregnancies progress.

I've tagged who I remember from the last group, please feel free to add others as they join us on this next phase of our journey or if I have missed anyone.

@Factualmistakes keeping my fingers crossed for you for the scan. I’m so sorry to hear about your pet.

@Bluehawaii29 hayfever is the worst - and there’s not much we can do about it.

Factualmistakes · 21/06/2022 13:53

Sadly is is not good news. My scan showed an empty sac which at 7wks (or 7+3 depending on who you believe). They took blood from me and referred me to EPU where I have an appointment booked on Thursday morning for another scan and more bloods to be sure it is a MMC. I guess they will talk me through management then. We are devastated to say the least. After an early MC last time I'm glad we didn't get our hopes up too much but it feels so very unfair and unlucky to have happened again.

Bryterlayter1 · 21/06/2022 15:28

@Factualmistakes I'm so sorry to read this. I hope you have some good support around you. Take care of yourself xxx

bajanbump · 21/06/2022 16:14

@Factualmistakes best of lucks! Keep us posted!!

thank you all for your reassuring messages! @Overlyanxious it was so helpful to read what your sonographer said!

Random question..is there any rule against posting pics with faces? I want to show you my pregnancy pics tests to get your opinions but you can obviously see my face lol don't know if there is a privacy rule against it, so wanted to ask before i do it!

bajanbump · 21/06/2022 16:16

@Factualmistakes I am so sorry to hear, I didn't read the last message before I posted. This happened to me in my first pregnancy. I am at loss for words, but sending you all my love

2mumlife · 21/06/2022 18:46

@OverlyanxiousUrgh sorry to hear you have covid. Hope you’re feeling better

@bajanbumpI’m sorry you feel you’re going to have a hard pregnancy. The percentiles sound absolutely fine and I don’t think they really worry unless you’re under the 10th or over the 90th percentile for anything. With multiples they also expect them to be smaller. Hope the photo shoot went well! I don’t think there are rules against posted a pic of your own face but don’t know for certain

@xreadytoglowThat’s lovely partner felt movement :)

@Factualmistakes I’m sorry it wasn’t better news. I hope you can get a review to figure out if it’s just awful luck or if there is a reason why you’ve had two early loses.

So, I’ve decided third trimester is definitely a bit rubbish. Between now needing iron tablets and feeling I need to slow down and things, I also found a hemarroid last night :( Feeling really unimpressed and like the easy days of the second trimester are over and it’s going to be downhill in the third trimester

seven201 · 21/06/2022 20:29

@Factualmistakes I'm so sorry to read your news. Flowers

Overlyanxious · 22/06/2022 13:55

@Factualmistakes I’m so sorry about your news.

@2mumlife I’m sorry to hear the third trimester is rubbish. Hopefully by slowing things down a bit though you will get by ok. Hopefully that’s it for the moment though on random issues appearing. Unfortunately I haven’t had any good times in second trimester yet due to sinus issues and now covid. Hopefully soon though.

Factualmistakes · 22/06/2022 14:07

Thanks everyone for your kind words. It is not nice being in limbo but hopefully tomorrow we will have a way forward. My clinic said there is some extra tests I can have to see if there is anything we can do to improve the chances. We are MFI with poor morphology (1% on the last SA) so I wonder if that has any effect on the embryos ability to develop? Clearly my body is doing its thing but we can't get past this early stage. We got 3 good blasts out of our 1st round of ICSI and have 1 left in the freezer. Not sure when we'll be ready to try again.

What tests have you had done? Have you had the ERA/Alice/Emma or any immune testing? I've had those and they all brought up (treatable) issues for me. I've had six transfers and this is the only one that's resulted in a pregnancy (still very early days). I wasted a lot of time, money and embryos that had no proper chance of implanting. It's such a gruelling process and just having to trust doctors telling us what to do.

seven201 · 22/06/2022 17:22

Just to add, you wouldn't need the ERA part as you are implanting. I see professor Shehata at CRP immunology clinic (epsom and Harley street) and I think he's good for early loss stuff.

Gigi89x · 23/06/2022 18:15

I was meant to have my 1st IVF pregnancy scan but had to cancel due to me feeling very poorly today, turns out its covid. iv been vomiting on and off all day with a fever. I didn't think covid causes sickness! So i was wondering if its because I'm pregnant also?

bajanbump · 23/06/2022 20:24

hey @Gigi89x I don't know if covid causes sickness... but pregnancy definitely does LOL as the ladies here know I've been vomiting pretty much since my 8th week (nausea started on the 6th) and I'm 15 weeks and still going strong..yesterday felt awful and was sick 4 times

The silver lining is they say being sick is a good sign for your pregnancy..

seven201 · 23/06/2022 21:16

@Gigi89x sorry you had to cancel your scan. That must be really disappointing. I think covid can cause sickness, but it's more likely to be a pregnancy symptom. Hope you feel better soon!

2mumlife · 24/06/2022 16:22

So update from me, its not the third trimester thats rubbish. Its having covid :( Tested positive this morning. Helps explain why this week has been miserable. Really tired and my resting heart rate is up according to my fitibit. Problem is, its really set off my heartburn so I can't lie down without acid boiling up and making me puke, so I'm having to adopt a semi-slumped position thats awful for posture!

@Factualmistakes Its good they can offer some more tests and see if they can find any answers. There is no rush to go again, wait until you're ready x

@Gigi89x I've got covid and I'm vomiting, but from heartburn (which is definitely pregnancy related, had issues with heartburn throughout this pregnancy) rather than covid itself.

Factualmistakes · 24/06/2022 16:37

My clinic didn't say what tests they would offer. I'm sure they will speak more about it once this latest nightmare is over.
I didn't even get any further after my EPU appointment yesterday. My Hcg only went from 2180 to 2085 which they are calling static. Clearly my pregnancy isn't progressing but something is going on. I have to go back tomorrow for more bloods, a scan and an appointment with the Consultant. The limbo is torture, I just want the inevitable over with so we can try and move forward.

So sorry to hear of those of you with Covid. Being pregnant and having Covid is a rubbish double whammy.

Gigi89x · 24/06/2022 17:29

@bajanbump @2mumlife @seven201
Thanks all, the sickness stopped today so i think its the covid that caused it, as im only around 6 + 5 sickness hadnt started yet

So many people are getting covid lately, even on this page iv seen a lot

@Factualmistakes I'm so sorry to hear your in limbo like this, this must be very difficult. I hope your clinic finds some answers. How many weeks are you?

Overlyanxious · 24/06/2022 19:44

@bajanbump sorry to hear you are still being sick.

@Gigi89x sorry to hear you’re suffering with covid and that’s so annoying you missed your scan - hopefully you can have your scan soon.

@Factualmistakes I’m so sorry you’re in limbo. I hope you get an answer soon.

@2mumlife oh no I’m sorry you also have covid. That’s rubbish that it’s making your heartburn worse and making you poorly. Really not what you need when pregnant.

I managed to go to my 20 week scan today, but they weren’t able to get all the measurements as baby wouldn’t move into a helpful position. I’m feeling a bit rubbish about it as was desperate to get reassurance and now have to wait up to 3 weeks for another scan. Everything they did measure was fine, but they couldn’t get the heart or face. My placenta is also a bit low - so that will need to be checked.

2mumlife · 25/06/2022 08:40

@Factualmistakes Does sound like you need some specialised early loss investigations, as your embryos are obviously taking. There are lots of women who know a lot more than I do about immune issues which might be worth investigating. It must be so frustrating experiencing this x

@Overlyanxious Try not to worry - everything they did see sounds great and there was nothing they sound worried about. Think of it as another chance to see bubs and hopefuly they'll get all the measurments. Your placenta does move up as your uterus exapnds, so it might be ok. If they are concerned its too low for birth then they'll likely discuss a csection. Main thing is they will look after you x

Overlyanxious · 27/06/2022 18:40

Thanks @2mumlife it will be nice to see bubs again. Just want to know when the scan will be now. How are you feeling? Are you getting over covid ok?

How is everyone else doing?

Bluehawaii29 · 27/06/2022 20:12

Hey sorry I’ve missed so much, never get any notifications anymore that anyone is writing on the group so didn’t realise had so much to catch up on! Sorry to hear so many of you have been suffering from covid @2mumlife @Gigi89x Hope you feel better soon and hope you get the scan quickly, can imagine must be very stressful all this waiting!
@Overlyanxious glad you had your 20 week scan and all looking good from what they could see
I’m doing good, was off for a few days so had lots of outings which was nice, felt lots of kicking after spicy Indian restaurant meal for my bro in laws bday on sat. Was both exciting and a little scary how intense it was. Checked baby again today at work after a week and all good thankfully. Have my 20 week scan next Monday so looking forward to the next time I get to see bubs too. I got a feeling he’s not going to keep still though as whenever I check the Doppler he’s moving like crazy and never keeps still long enough for me. Hope he behaves next week! 🙏🏽❤️

bajanbump · 27/06/2022 21:05

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend, especially you ladies going through COVID!

@Bluehawaii29 so nice to feel the baby! When did you start feeling him? I'm15+4 and analyzing any sensation down there hoping to feel them

Also, wanted to share my pregnancy announcement pic with you.. i didn't figure out the privacy rules, but if it's not allowed to show your face then I guess the admins will remove it LOL

Bluehawaii29 · 27/06/2022 21:37

@bajanbump aww what a beautiful picture 😍😍 thanks for sharing ❤️
i kind of thought I felt the baby from 15.5 weeks but became much more obvious after 18 weeks I’d say. Even feeling the kicks I think is early according to most people but I guess everyone is different. I’m sure you will feel something soon and your bump is so nice and big already. Here is my 19 week bump pic :)

Lovely pictures ladies!

bajanbump · 27/06/2022 21:45

@Bluehawaii29 aww what a lovely bump and summer dress!

Yeah my bump is so big already.. I am a bit concerned to be honest because it surely must be a lot of liquid retained, the babies are not that big yet..I know i've lost weight in other places of my body like my arms and legs but im not sure what's going on with my bump
