BFPs following IVF to take symptoms & scans

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 07:27

Hi everyone.

I've started this group for us to chat about our symptoms, scans and any other pregancy related issues after getting a BFP following IVF/IUI/ICSI.

It is by no means to leave anyone out of the previous groups we have been in, where we all offer advice and help during an IVF cycle.

We all know hearing people's positive pregancy news can be heart breaking. I just found on the group that we are talking scans, symptoms, signs and positive tests I'm very conscious that those currently mid cycle may get upset.

We can all still give advice but maybe we could use this group as our pregnancies progress.

I've tagged who I remember from the last group, please feel free to add others as they join us on this next phase of our journey or if I have missed anyone.

@Justawannabemam yep it's my first one. My clinic won't scan any earlier than 7w. I've been so anxious this week knowing it's coming up, I just hope everything is all okay. 🤞🏼 I did try and see if they had any earlier cancellations.. just a day or two.. but they had nothing. Nevermind, what will be will be!!

I've got to go in to my GP to fill in a form to get started with the midwife appointments. I haven't done it so far .. once I know everything is fine on Thursday I'm going to go and do it then.

Aw how exciting. Everything crossed for another great scan on Friday.

Congrats to all of you with bfps❤. I had a trigger shot on my FET day. How likely is that to be giving me a positive test? I am now 7dp5dt.

Smushles · 22/03/2022 15:10

Could be worth asking this to be moved to pregnancy. There are IVF pregnancy threads there. I am also pregnant at the minute but it took 5 years and I know threads like these can be triggering. I don’t see why it needs to stay in the Infertility section for those struggling to see.

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 16:09

@Smushles how would I ask for it to be moved ?

This is why I set it up from the IVF thread that most of us were on whilst going through a cycle. There was no intention to upset anyone struggling as we have probably at some point been there !

Thanks @Justawannabemam for setting it up.

@justawannabemam you have done a lovely kind thing, not lacking in empathy at all. I think most of us in this thread have had failed cycles, I know I've been in threads with my bfn when others had a bfp I was sad of course for myself but I completely understood others were happy and wanted to celebrate their joy. I'm saddened at some of the comments here, because I only see a kind and supportive gesture.

Bluehawaii29 · 22/03/2022 17:58

Hi guys just catching up, what is happening to this thread now? Where is it being moved exactly

Bluehawaii29 · 22/03/2022 17:59

@Bryterlayter1 I totally agree, I also had a failed cycle just in December last year and this is my first BFP of my life. It is nice to have somewhere to talk about it x

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 18:31

It's been moved to the pregancy section. 🥰

Hi

I would love to join this group too. Currently 6 weeks tomorrow after my transfer on the 1st march. It’s been such a rollercoaster with my ectopic last year. The fear of this one being in the wrong place is so real! I have my 7 week scan with clinic next week and if all is ok they mentioned that I would be transferred to community midwife. Feels so surreal. I can’t even think about next week I am literally just taking it day by day just now! Anyone know what the process is once the fertility clinic discharge you? Are we meant to contact our local midwife team etc to book the 12 week scan?

Bluehawaii29 · 22/03/2022 20:07

Hey sorry to hear about your ectopic? Can I ask how did that happen? Do you have any risk factors like endometriosis etc and did it happen after ivf? You transferred 3 days before me :) I’m 6 weeks on Sunday but don’t get my first scan till 8 week. Can I ask how were your lines with the ectopic, they say normally the lines are fainter

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 20:13

@Ivfmum2022 congratulations.

I've had a six week scan then im having another one on Friday so they can check growth . I've made an appointment with my community midwife which is in 31st. We were advised to get in so we can have those routine tests done. Thankfully I done it off my own back because my GP surgery couldn't see me until the 31st. And by then I'd have already been 9 weeks.

I hope you can relax and enjoy your pregancy. Maybe when you have had your scan you'll feel better.

We find out Friday if our babies have grown . 2 were a couple of mm smaller than the leader. (Yup were having triplets) 😂.

Ivfmum2022 · 22/03/2022 20:15

Genuinely no idea how it happened. I didn’t have any risk factors and was classed as unknown infertility. They actually said to me they didn’t know how it happened and it was just one of those things. I didn’t know it was ectopic until I started bleeding very heavily and when I went for a a scan to check the miscarriage had passed the fertility clinic found it in my left tube which then resulted in emergency surgery to have it all removed. Yep the line was definitely fainter than it is this time round so I am hoping it’s a good sign. Last time the line took a while to come up where as this time it’s pretty instant.

Ivfmum2022 · 22/03/2022 20:17

Triplets?! Oh wow that will be a handful! Can I ask was it one egg that split?! That’s my other fear that’s my egg has split and we have more than one baby!

Bluehawaii29 · 22/03/2022 20:20

@Ivfmum2022 wow yes that is a very scary experience to go through and can imagine how terrified you must be but it’s definitely a good sign it’s darker lines. I’m a GP and from what I remember learning about ectopic pregnancies is that they are usually fainter lines on the tests so I am hopeful you will be ok this time xx
My scan is on 13th April and am trying to keep distracted as much as possible. They will also plan discharge me to antenatal after that and then you do your booking bloods with midwife and another scan at 12 weeks x

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 20:28

@Ivfmum2022 yes we had 2 transferred and 1 has split. So we have 3 babies. We found out a couple of week ago. The shock was unreal. We laughed and then we cried. We're just worried now incase they are small. But we've been reassured that we will be looked after so that's good. Now it's sunk in were delighted. Bc this time 6 months ago when our first cycle failed we thought we may never have any, and now we've been the gift of 3 🥰.

@Bluehawaii29 were you talking about a bra fitting ? I need to go . Where did you go for it? I'm already a 34 G christ knows what size I am going to go too. Lols

Bluehawaii29 · 22/03/2022 20:32

@Justawannabemam heyy yeah it was hard figuring out but basically I added 2 cup sizes and band I increased by 4 in case to allow space. I got it from M&S but also this link on Amazon www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08GLZXPH1/ref=tsm_1_tp_tc?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 20:36

Great thanks. I'll take a look. I normally shop at bravissimo but I think if they are gonna grow I'll wait a bit before buying from there they are quite expensive.
