BFPs following IVF to take symptoms & scans

1000 replies

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 07:27

Hi everyone.

I've started this group for us to chat about our symptoms, scans and any other pregancy related issues after getting a BFP following IVF/IUI/ICSI.

It is by no means to leave anyone out of the previous groups we have been in, where we all offer advice and help during an IVF cycle.

We all know hearing people's positive pregancy news can be heart breaking. I just found on the group that we are talking scans, symptoms, signs and positive tests I'm very conscious that those currently mid cycle may get upset.

We can all still give advice but maybe we could use this group as our pregnancies progress.

I've tagged who I remember from the last group, please feel free to add others as they join us on this next phase of our journey or if I have missed anyone.

@seven201 thank you xx
@bajanbump definitely bigger because of twins, I’m sure it’s normal for you. If fluid retention was an issue you would notice it through swollen hands/ feet by now I’m pretty sure. Enjoy the bump :) x

bajanbump · 27/06/2022 21:54

aww thanks @Bluehawaii29 that makes me feel much better, my ankles are swollen by the end of the day, but my hands are normal I think lol

bajanbump · 27/06/2022 22:04

@seven201 thank you so much! Your scan is tomorrow right? Keep us posted! Sending you lots of good energy!

Overlyanxious · 28/06/2022 09:44

@Bluehawaii29 glad to hear you've had some nice outings and it's so nice you are feeling baby. So exciting you have your scan soon. You have a good bump.

@bajanbump I like your announcement pic and that's a great bump.

@seven201 good luck with your scan

seven201 · 28/06/2022 10:56

I had my scan this morning. Not great news. No heartbeat and measuring at 6+0 instead of 6+3. She said normally they wouldn’t be that worried but because it’s ivf they know exactly when it went in so should be measuring bang on. Got to go back next Tuesday to find out either way. She said we’re not out, but she wasn’t being too hopeful either. So in limbo land.

xreadytoglow · 28/06/2022 15:13

@bajanbump what a beautiful announcement photo!!

@Overlyanxious aw at least you get to see baby again, it's so common for babies to be uncooperative for at least one part of the scan because they need them in completely different positions for the heart and spine, so if baby doesn't flip then it's just the way it is. Mine also nearly didn't flip over to where they needed it.

@Bluehawaii29 beautiful bump!

@seven201 aw I'm so sorry 😞. I don't want to give false hope where there may be none but my clinic wouldn't scan before 7 weeks because it's not guaranteed to see a heartbeat that early. I hope that everything is okay and they just need that extra time. Sending big hugs x

bajanbump · 28/06/2022 15:55

@seven201 I am sorry to hear, I don't want to give you false hope either and now this limbo period is the worst, but as @xreadytoglow said, my clinic would not scan until 7 weeks either. I had my scan at 6+6 only because I was flying out.
One of my twins was measuring a day behind and they were not worried at all (now they both measure ahead).

DaffodilSunshine · 28/06/2022 16:09

@seven201 I was scanned on the epu after some early brown bleeding and they said they had a margin of error of +/-5 days due to the difficulty of measuring something so tiny. So even with knowing exact dates of ivf they still wouldn't be particularly concerned unless it was more than 5 days behind. Though obviously the test will be whether there's growth by the next scan. Fingers crossed for you!

Overlyanxious · 28/06/2022 16:14

@seven201 keeping my fingers crossed for you. I really hope it is just a case of it being too early.

seven201 · 28/06/2022 17:49

Thank you everyone. I was expecting the doctor to be less worried, so was quite surprised when she really did hammer home that it is so behind and I should prepare myself. It's good to hear some positive outcomes. Does anyone know what FET implantation lengths are like? I thought it could be anything from 1-5 days after transfer, so to me measuring at 6+0 didn't seem that bad at first. I did some HCG blood tests early on (just medichecks prick your fingers ones) and was on the low end of the spectrum for each week, so I have always thought it possibly was a later implantation. Maybe I'm just looking for any hope to cling to.

My ivf clinic don't scan until 7 weeks but the miscarriage clinic is 6+3. I do happen to have my ivf scan on Monday, so at least that's one less day to wait. I might end up cancelling the mc clinic one on Tuesday as it's blooming expensive!

2mumlife · 28/06/2022 18:53

@bajanbump Your photo is lovely! Everyone carries so differently - I'm on a facebook group for people due in September and we're all totally different sizes

@seven201 I'm sorry it isn't better news. I'd be more concerned about not detecting a heartbeat yet than the sizing personally, as sizing can be out by a couple of days (I was measuring ahead even on our viability scan for instance). That being said a heartbeat also isn't garaunteed either. Keeping everything crossed for you x

@Overlyanxious Hope you get date for your repeat scan soon

Been feeling better last few days, though still got a positive LFD this morning. Main thing is I seem to be improving anyway.

Gigi89x · 02/07/2022 16:57

Hi everyone,

I finally had my 1st scan yesterday after cancelling it because i had got covid, baby was alive and we heard the heart beat. such a relief!

Have spent the last week feeling very nauseous, has anyone got any tips to help with the nausea?!

I hope everyone is doing ok at the moment x

Overlyanxious · 02/07/2022 17:36

@Gigi89x congratulations - that's great news. I found ice pops quite helpful for nausea and eating regularly - but generally it was a case of waiting for it to pass.

@2mumlife my rescan is now on the 11th so still have over a week to wait - I'll nearly be 23 weeks by then. Fingers crossed bubs plays ball. Are you all recovered from covid now? I finally had energy to do a proper clean today.

Bluehawaii29 · 02/07/2022 17:57

@Gigi89x congrats Gigi! That’s great news on your little one xx
hope everyone is good

Bluehawaii29 · 03/07/2022 08:21

Heyy so we have our 20 week scan tomorrow! Can’t believe how fast it came in the end. Was originally planning on doing the whooping cough vaccine on the same day but since scan is in afternoon when the unit always seems to be heaving I didn’t want to wait longer than needed in the hospital with all the risk of infection/ covid etc so have managed to book it at my 24week antenatal check with GP instead. Has anyone else done their whooping cough vaccine already and do you think 24 weeks will be ok to wait till? x

Overlyanxious · 03/07/2022 09:37

@Bluehawaii29 that's so exciting you have your 20 week scan tomorrow. I got my whooping cough vaccine at my 20 week scan. The hospital arranged it for that day, but there was no queue anyway. You could always quickly check to see if you do actually need to wait - you may get lucky and be able to just walk in. I think waiting a few weeks though is fine. The nurse said they offer it now because there was an outbreak in 2012 (which I do remember as I had a weird cough). I don't think it's particularly rife now.

Bluehawaii29 · 03/07/2022 10:38

@Overlyanxious thank you :) wil let you know how it goes x hopefully like you said walk in might be ok. I just like the idea of having a booked appt for it

Gigi89x · 03/07/2022 13:37

@Overlyanxious & @Bluehawaii29 thanks both!

@Bluehawaii29 i can't believe your already having your 20 week scan, time has really flown!! Are you finding out the sex or is it a suprise?

Bluehawaii29 · 03/07/2022 16:26

@Gigi89x hey yea I know it’s crazy how fast it’s going now, only 8 weeks left of second trimester! Yes definitely finding out sex tomorrow as long as baby cooperates of course. Really want to know now as will help with planning and bonding etc x

Bryterlayter1 · 03/07/2022 16:31

@Bluehawaii29 best of luck with the scan tomorrow, I hope that baby is accommodating and let's you see everything you need to at the scan.

My 20 week scan is also tomorrow, and I don't know about you, but I am more scared now that at the 12 week scan, which is probably a bit silly. I think the term anomaly scan isn't helping.

2mumlife · 03/07/2022 16:49

@Gigi89x congrats on scan!

@Bluehawaii29 I got my whooping cough done at 20 week scan, no extra queue went straight from scan into nurses room doing the vaccine

@Overlyanxious Seem to be over covid now, what’s left seems just to just third trimester fatigue and normal pregnancy shortness of breath now!!

Bluehawaii29 · 03/07/2022 17:09

@Bryterlayter1 good luck for your scan tomorrow. Yeah the scanxiety will always be there to a certain extent but just think of it as an anatomy scan rather than anomaly scan, they’ll talk you through everything and I’m sure it’ll be fine x
@2mumlife glad you’re over covid now, third trimester sounds hard, I’m just enjoying this nice phase at the mo but I’m sure it’ll get harder soon as bump grows more

Bluehawaii29 · 03/07/2022 17:11

Just realised second trimester goes up till 26 weeks not 28 like I thought!

xreadytoglow · 03/07/2022 19:43

Good luck for your scans tomorrow @Bluehawaii29 @Bryterlayter1! Can't wait to hear back. Do you have any feelings of what you might be having?

I got my whooping cough last week when I went to see the Consultant about my low platelets (which they weren't concerned about), they were running the drop in clinic. I'd never been advised to have it though at any appointments, it was just a case of being there at the right time!

Not much new to report here. Still feeling lots of kicks and wriggles and have caught it on camera a couple of times. Very surprised since I have an anterior placenta, so I'm feeling very lucky every time I feel him in there. I'm loving being pregnant so far.

Bump update at 22 weeks. 🤍

seven201 · 04/07/2022 14:13

I've been hiding away a bit after my not great scan last week where I was measuring at 6.0 instead of 6.3 with no heartbeat, I had one today at 7.2 and am measuring at 6.2 BUT there is a good heartbeat. When pushed the nurse said she thinks we have a 50/50 chance. Going for a scan at miscarriage clinic next week to find out if there's been growth and a heartbeat still. I thought going from 3.6 to 5.5 in 6 days sounded pretty good, but I'm no expert and she said it was hard to measure today.

Hope the other scans today go well.
