Just for fun, what's the stupidiest question or comment someone has said whilst you've been pregnant.

Was it planned?! That question has irked me with dc3?

@beenaroundtheblox I don't understand what you mean? Well the implication seemed to be that with a 2 year old playing up and a big bump I was more likely to support abortion than others i.e. I must be regretting having the 2 year old and the soon to be born one. The "surely you must agree with abortion" seemed really rude and presumptious.

Maybe you needed to hear her tone to get the message.

When I was a few months pregnant "are you having a second one? It's really cruel to only have one child"

Let me have this child first ffs.

@HerbivorousRex

I got asked by my MIL if we know the baby’s gender. I said that we’re having a boy. This was followed up with ‘are you sure, the bump is all out in front, it’s definitely a girl’. I confirmed that the genetic test and multiple ultrasounds both say it’s a boy.

She remains adamant that it’s a girl and is very upset that I won’t let her throw a gender reveal baby shower because I’m being stubborn (I don’t want a gender reveal or a baby shower anyway. I definitely don’t want one where she announces the wrong sex because she’s convinced an old wives tale is better evidence than genetics and a very clear picture of a penis!)

The prediction story I heard, before scans, was about a Consultant Obstetrician who was famed for his ability to predict the sex of the baby. Apparently his secret was he would randomly say, "It's a boy" or "It's a girl" and then write the opposite in your notes. When the baby was born you either said he was right or if you told him he was wrong he'd open your notes, go back to your first appointment and point out he'd predicted correctly. Silly mummy had got it wrong, he had the evidence.

Power mad I reckon.

My DH is bilingual and my (known for being rather dopey) friend wondered what language our baby would be born with. She is completely convinced that babies are pre-programmed to speak a certain language before birth Grin

Oh my god this. I am nearly 34 weeks and get asked so often when I will have the second. Firstly, let me get this one out. And secondly, when I say no, we'll just be having the one, I get told 'you'll change your mind'. Actually, no. I have had an utterly vile pregnancy, it has been the worst time of my life with various health issues, my husband and I only want one, so won't be changing my mind. It's mainly men that make these comments but it's infuriating, as if my silly little woman's brain is entirely swayed by some primal urge to continue to procreate.

So, you've had sex then!

On the flip side, I was getting my glucose test for GD; husband was with me.

Doctor was making a small chat and asked if I have any family here (given that I'm new to the area). I said: just me and my brother - and pointed at my husband.

You should have seen the doctors face Grin

"What you going to do with your mat leave "(bear in mind I was leaving to take it at 39 weeks), said by a male colleague

erm, look after the baby!!

"You're pregnant?!"

11 days overdue on DC2. Looked like a large armchair. Next door neighbour I regularly saw to nod and wave at while in and out of the house.

He'd come round to ask if he could talk through his plans for an extension before they submitted them to the council for approval and I'd asked if we could do it in a week or so after I'd been induced and had the baby.

I closed the front door and cried.
