Just for fun, what's the stupidiest question or comment someone has said whilst you've been pregnant.

Was it planned?! That question has irked me with dc3?

“Did you mean to have it so soon?”… We got pregnant 2 months after our wedding. What is odd about that…

Yebbie · 17/03/2022 17:19

I just couldn't get over when I was pregnant with my first how many total strangers thought it was ok to come up and touch your bump. It horrified me a bit!

To be fair though once typing that it came to me that my old boss (males, fourties, no children) upon me telling him I had to have a caesarean made a joke about how that was cheating, and goes in must come out the same way.

Yebbie · 17/03/2022 17:20

What goes in must come out the same way*

30 weeks tomorrow and so many weird questions/statements!
"When did you get pregnant?" (You do the maths lol)
"How long have you known/when did you find out?"
"You're big for x months!"
(And because i am due to be bridesmaid while pregnant) "Just don't eat all the pies for extra weight" (will eat what my body wants thanks 😂)
Feels like an interrogation at times!

Partybarty · 17/03/2022 17:25

'Is it planned?' Just bloody bizarre, what the hell has it got to do with you!

'Are you pregnant?' This just pisses me off, again what has it got to do with you. I've been asked this when I was 6 months and clearly showing, I have a small frame so it was obvious I was. I've also been asked this when I haven't been pregnant and had a little podge belly after lunch, just plain rude.

mindfulmotherhood · 17/03/2022 17:25

@Topseyt

I have three DDs.

When I was just over 20 weeks pregnant with DD3 I made the mistake of telling one of the local busy-bodies at our mother and toddler group that I was having another girl, to which she replied "Oh no! What a shame!"

I pulled her up sharply on that and asked her why she thought it was a shame? She stuttered, went bright red and clearly wanted the ground to open up and swallow her. She eventually came out with "well, I thought maybe you'd have preferred a boy this time as you will now have to try again!" My reply was "No, I just want a healthy baby and I won't be having anymore. Time to leave the subject."

The audacity!!! Good for you sticking up for yourself.

@FlibbertyGibbitt

Took my wedding ring off due to swollen fingers. Took car for a tyre at a garage and bloke sang we are getting married in the morning. Cheeky bastard !
Ha! Oh yes.

Had to take my wedding and engagement rings off for the same reason.

I was heavily pregnant on a bus and the bell was on the pole in front of my seat.

I got my hand ready to press when the elderly lady next to me turned to look at my hand, opened her eyes widely, deliberately looked down at my bump and said "DISGUSTING!!!"

And yes... I actually blushed. Just wasn't quick enough for a witty retort. 😔

Furmummy · 17/03/2022 17:30

@romdowa

Sleep while you can 🙄🙄 sleep was beyond me for most of my pregnancy between being roasting and huge , not to mention the first 12 weeks where I threw up from about 2am till 10pm .... anyone who told me to sleep while I could got a full on rant and by the end when my pelvis felt like it was going to snap in two I was ready to commit murder 🤣
@romdowa I am 30 weeks and feel like this - actually hoping I may sleep better once baby born - please tell me it’s possible 🤣
twinsetandpearl · 17/03/2022 17:31

Pregnant with twins.....man turns to husband and says to HIM "well done" 😾

They are IVF babies - his sole contribution was to wank in a cup for a 3 minutes whilst watching porn. If anyone needed a well done after 5 rounds of IVF it was me!

romdowa · 17/03/2022 17:37

I know women who have slept far better once baby is out but it wasn't the case for me. I've a cmpa and reflux baby 🤣 nearly 5 months on and I've never had a full night 🙈

Blogblogblogblog · 17/03/2022 17:50

Who ate all the pies.

Sang by a group of tipsy men at my 8 month huge bump. More people joined in (we were in a queue for a comedy club) and it got quite intimidating and loud. At least they cut out the ‘fat bastard’ bit and just pointed at the bump at the 3 x ‘you…’ instead. Last time I went out.

HerbivorousRex · 17/03/2022 17:53

I got asked by my MIL if we know the baby’s gender. I said that we’re having a boy. This was followed up with ‘are you sure, the bump is all out in front, it’s definitely a girl’. I confirmed that the genetic test and multiple ultrasounds both say it’s a boy.

She remains adamant that it’s a girl and is very upset that I won’t let her throw a gender reveal baby shower because I’m being stubborn (I don’t want a gender reveal or a baby shower anyway. I definitely don’t want one where she announces the wrong sex because she’s convinced an old wives tale is better evidence than genetics and a very clear picture of a penis!)

ABitBesotted · 17/03/2022 17:54

🤣🤣🤣

What a horrible old bat. I wonder how she emerged into the world? On a moonbeam, or in a test tube, or like Aphrodite, did she emerge on a shell from the ocean where her emasculated father's lopped-off cock had fallen into the foam?

doodlejump1980 · 17/03/2022 17:56

My MIL said on hearing we were having twin boys said, “but what if they’re gay? you won’t have any grandchildren!”
Too gobsmacked to retort to that one!!

justme2022 · 17/03/2022 18:03

My FIL "oh for gods sake, I'm 65 you know" my reply of "it's ok, you're not the father" went down pretty badly for some reason

Mommabear20 · 17/03/2022 18:05

Did you even deliver the first before getting pregnant again?

🤣🤷‍♀️ basic biology clearly goes over some peoples heads 😂

What? 😂😂 this makes no sense
BiscuitLover3678 · 17/03/2022 18:40

@Furmummy unfortunately the sleep deprivation is unreal BUT I would say the lack of sleep beforehand actually helps. It prepares you. And you will manage just fine!

TeethingBabyHelp · 17/03/2022 18:49

My sister that I'm not really close to, her first response was "are you keeping it?" Hmm

I was 32, married for 7'years and told her I had some exciting news. And that was the response

ellecf21 · 17/03/2022 18:55

I was on the tube last night, packed rush hour train from Oxford Circus. It was so crammed I couldn't get through to a seat so was leaning next to the door. A middle aged married man got on. As soon as he saw my badge he started trying to engage with me, bearing in mind I have my headphones in, head down just want to get home. He was sweet in that he offered to shout down the carriage for a seat for me but I declined (always feeling like a nuisance which I know is wrong, that would have also been so embarrassing!!)

Anyway he kept looking at me to start a convo (which NEVER happens on the tube) and started asking about my baby, when I'm due etc. I was polite and humoured him. He then started talking about what I should and shouldn't do in birth, specifically around pushing. On this packed tube, the only person talking he goes "you know, push when they tell you to push, but OH, don't push when they tell you to stop pushing OR YOU WILL TEAR."

I was absolutely gobsmacked. I just didn't know what to say to this stranger who was announcing the possibility of my vagina tearing on a packed tube. Ask me my name first gaaaaawd 😂😂

Borgonzola · 17/03/2022 18:58

Anything along the lines of 'just you wait!' (After people have been complaining about their horrible teenagers) really gets up my nose for some reason. Along with 'don't have kids! Ahahahahha' bit late now Hmm

My MIL, though I love her, takes every mona I have and turns it into 'ooo just wait until later on' (I'm 21 weeks). I know it'll get worse later on, but I feel like crap now Hmm

also
Me: I've had pretty bad morning sickness
Them: oh yes so did I!
Me: yep, have thrown up at least once a day this week
Them: oh I was never actually sick! Just felt sick!

Get out Hmm

beenaroundtheblox · 17/03/2022 19:07

@ancientgran

I'm not sure about dumbest but the most offensive I got was, "Will you sign our abortion petition." As I struggled with a rather awkward 2 year old, a load of shopping and a big bump (10lb baby about to appear) As I tried to pass trying to hold on to the 2 year old she loudly said, "Surely you must agree with abortion." I felt like punching her.
I don't understand what you mean?
SirGawain · 17/03/2022 19:16

@JuniperAndTonic

I’m only 11 weeks but a lady at work asked me if I was pregnant a few days ago, I obviously couldn’t lie so said “yes, but it’s still early.” Her reply was “How did you get pregnant?” 🤔 I’m not sure what answer she was expecting but I just awkwardly said “erm the normal way - what do you want me to tell you how babies are made?” 🤣 honestly I was so shocked she’d even asked I was pregnant let alone how I got pregnant!!

People are so weird about pregnancy!

This reminds me of a well known wheelchair bound athlete who was asked how SHE got pregnant. Her reply was ace. I had sex with my husband.
nattergal · 17/03/2022 19:27

My boss gave me a bottle of champagne for my Christmas present two weeks after I told him I was 12 weeks pregnant.

secretsqizzle · 17/03/2022 20:01

Have you had her yet ??

From my mother . Who - contrary to normal MN posts .. is a COMPLETELY NORMAL mother . Who was super excited about first GC.. loves us. Sees us every day ..
