@Prema112 and @Turniptracker - I’ve had a sore muscle to the right of belly button for weeks, and now it’s sometimes on the left too. It was at it worst after I did a bike ride on holiday at 28 weeks (my last bike ride funnily enough!) My physio said it’s most likely a sprained oblique and they can take 4-6 weeks to heal properly. I find putting a cold flannel over it helps, so you could try that.

Rolledthedice · 03/04/2022 20:22

That’s a good tip @yellowpinkbluegreen, thanks! I have a call with GP tomorrow so will mention this to them.

Prema112 · 03/04/2022 22:05

@Rolledthedice Yeah I feel like that could be what it is! Thanks I'll try a cold flannel

DaimDillyDoo · 03/04/2022 22:16

Seems like there's a few of us with chubby/puffy lips atm! So glad to hear it's normal!

I've been craving ice constantly... literally cups of it Shock I have my 32 week midwife appointment on Friday.

The weeks are going down so quickly now! I even started the hospital bags today.

PleaseSendNoodles · 04/04/2022 06:04

@DaimDillyDoo definitely mention the ice at your appointment! Might be nothing but good to check.

Also love hearing you’ve started on your hospital bag. I’ve been sorting through all the tiny clothes I’ve washed and picked some out to take to the hospital and arranged them in ziplock bags… then wondered if it’s too soon but figure it’s better to be organised…

pregnancydiaries · 04/04/2022 06:57

Anyone had seriously sore hips from lying on their side and have any tips for soothing it in the morning? I am in agony on my left hip 😧 xx

fpeg · 04/04/2022 07:18

@pregnancydiaries currently suffering with this a lot whilst on holiday as mattress is a bit too firm. I brought my pregnancy pillow with me and am so glad I did as it is helping support bump, I'd have been a lot more uncomfortable without it. I think the hip thing takes a while to go down as I think the joint can become a bit inflamed. Pregnancy... the gift that keeps on giving 😂

pregnancydiaries · 04/04/2022 07:21

@fpeg 😂😂😂 so so true!! At this stage I'm not even finding my reasonably soft mattress or pregnancy pillow any help other than to cuddle for comfort. I have been massaging my bum all morning, what a strange look. Is the holiday going well, hips aside?xx

JAR1981 · 04/04/2022 08:21

@Flowerbug1994 I am also wondering about this predicament. I’ve been told for various reasons I’m recommended not to go over my due date, so they will induce at 40 weeks. But as you say most induction stories are horror stories and I think 1/3 end up in emergency CS so wondering if it comes to that should I just ask for an elective section at 40 weeks, and hope the baby makes a spontaneous appearance before? I did hear that the pessary and balloon methods of induction could be tried before drip which aren’t meant to be as bad but also may not work.

@fpeg @pregnancydiaries the physio exercises I put on a page back have really reduced my hip pain. Let me know if the photos are too blurry though it’s really weird that they’re clear on my library then when I attach here they seem to blur, so if anyone has any ideas?

Big week for us this week, 32 week midwife appt tomorrow, growth scan Wednesday and maternity photos Thursday. Just keeping everything crossed we didn’t catch covid at the weekend in London it was so so busy and so few people were wearing masks.

destiEos · 04/04/2022 08:26

@sunflower198 - I feel you, it's getting annoying pricking a finger 4 times a day...well, it was and then I ran out of test-strips half-way through Sunday because apparently that's how many they give you. I mean, you have to test all the way up til birth so no idea why they don't give you that many to start with :/ Also found out that cereal is a total no-no for me and am now controlling ok with diet - there's a great website: www.gestationaldiabetes.co.uk/ where they point out that most women can't tolerate cereals and probably shouldn't bother trying.

destiEos · 04/04/2022 08:36

@everyone who's having aches and pains - I have rib pain, which is keeping me up at night it's so bad, and carpal tunnel - which don't seem to be in-keeping with everyone else's symptoms but are really making life miserable for me. I decided to call the docs this morning and make an appointment so I can get checked/referred for physio and sat on hold from 24th in the queue with speakerphone on, until they answered 24 minutes later and then I promptly hit the 'end call' button on my phone in my over-excitement :D

You have to laugh, right? ...I'll try again tomorrow.

destiEos · 04/04/2022 08:48

@JAR1981 I'm coming round to c-section, had been thinking it would be best from the beginning - but was drifting towards maybe trying for vaginal after hearing about recovery times for c-section and really, really wanting ny body back now! Anyway, now with GD, added to being in my 40's and IVF, I'm coming back round to c-section. All I've heard about induction is negative, so I think I'd rather avoid too.

And waiting very impatiently for my 32 week appointment/scan too. Everything got cancelled and rebooked for me with the GD diagnosis and my GD midwife appointment was a joint one with another woman just to tell us about GD, give us our test monitors and show us how to use them, so I think I missed out on one appointment anyway :(

Yeah, also terrified of catching covid, living in London - very few people still wearing masks here :/ Sat outside at the pub on Saturday night, it was freezing -2 degrees C!

PeeAche2 · 04/04/2022 09:12

Good morning everyone. How are you all? I have so much to catch up on.

@destiEos I came here to talk about under-rib-pain. It gets so bad sometimes! And it radiates into my back which is crazy.

Last night I had a really vivid dream that I bought a cot from Poundland and it wasn't safe. 😐🤷🏻‍♀️🧐

sunflower198 · 04/04/2022 09:12

@destiEos yes I ran out at the beginning - the amount the hospital gave me only last a few days and the GP didn't approve my prescription in time. I have to test 6 times a day 🤷🏻‍♀️ so feel like I've constantly got a prescription on the go for strips/lancets!

Cereal is the one thing I think I truly miss. I've had one bowl in the past month but got a high reading so haven't tried again. I feel like I can eat most things ok during the day but my morning reading has never been green - until this morning 🥳 so I'm hoping that the tablets I'm on are finally working!

Yeah I've joined their fb group - I might try a couple of their recipes this week as keep seeing good ones! X

Prema112 · 04/04/2022 09:54

@DaimDillyDoo I think craving ice can be a sign of anaemia, definitely ask your midwife at your appointment

Flowerbug1994 · 04/04/2022 10:12

Growth scan today and I don’t know why but my nerves are gone !!! Baby was moving at 6 this morning then went abit quite until I’ve just had something to eat and a glass of orange juice and for 6ish good kicks. It’s not unusual for him to have a wiggle of a morning and then go back asleep am assuming but something about today has had me poking my belly.

RoseValleyRambles · 04/04/2022 10:28

So baby is big around head and belly, and they're booking me in for a glucose test on Wednesday. Anyone had similar? I know there are a few GD gals out there! Have asked to speak to consultant for more info / intel so now just waiting around for them to be free.

Feel a little helpless just waiting for test results while time ticks by...

SouthwestSis · 04/04/2022 10:50

You could start following a more GD friendly diet in the meantime @RoseValleyRambles
It won't affect the result of your glucose tolerance test.
You want to be limiting your carb intake and using fats and proteins more for energy. Plenty of green veg, be a bit more careful with fruit (don't have large portions and when you do eat fruit, pair it with something higher in fat or protein like cheese or nuts.
When you do eat carbs, choose lower GI carbs like brown bread and rice.
If you fancy a treat then Oppo ice cream (sold in tesco) is lower carb than the average ice cream, and sugar free jelly with cream works well!

fpeg · 04/04/2022 10:55

@pregnancydiaries yes it's so lovely to just be away and not having any of the "at home" stuff to bother with!

@JAR1981 can't read the writing but a lot look familiar from the pregnancy yoga I've been doing. I suspect my issues will clear up once I'm back on my own mattress! But I've done some today after your reminder so hoping that helps too 😁
Also @JAR1981 and @Flowerbug1994 I've also been told I'll be induction at term (41 and IVF) which I was really nervous about as have only heard negative induction stories, however, I was on another forum the other day and someone asked about induction stories and there were just loads and loads of positive responses, which has made me feel far more positive about the prospect and I'll now happily give it a go, understanding that we may need to progress to c-section. I'd love her to kick off into spontaneous labour on her own but I feel I'm much better prepared and in a positive frame of mind to deal with the potential outcomes now, so thought I'd pass on the positivity I've read too 💚

EarlGreywithLemon · 04/04/2022 10:56

I do know someone whose induction went very smoothly - in labour 4 hours after pessary, no tearing, home next day. I only had the pessary and was in labour 6 hours later. My birth was tricky but that was because she was back to back - not because of the induction.

On the other hand I also know of a few tricky induction births, some EMCS. Also, recovery after a difficult vaginal birth isn’t a walk in the park either. It took me way longer than my CS friends.

It’s a tricky choice, if really is!

RoseValleyRambles · 04/04/2022 10:57

@southwestsis That's really useful, thank you. Bye bye haribo by the sounds of it...

Feeling a bit teary. I have a sore back awaiting physio, light headedness awaiting further test results, and now this. And to cap it all the hospital chairs are super uncomfy and I'm grumpy. Bah.
12 weeks to go. Hopefully 11 as there is no way I'm pushing him out with a massive head so c section it is.

Octoblockisadick · 04/04/2022 11:21

@destiEos and @JAR1981 I had an elective section with my daughter and honestly it was great. I was feeling alright by about day 5, didn't drive until 4 weeks though. The only reason I'm trying for a vbac this time is that you aren't really supposed to lift much more than the baby, and with a 4 year old it's a bit harder to rest haha. My plan if I go overdue is balloon induction and if it doesn't work go straight to section not drip etc.

@RoseValleyRambles mine was big on his tummy at 20 weeks but my GD test was clear. They just want a growth scan at 32 weeks but weren't really concerned. Will see what they say then I guess but I'm not really thinking much about it yet.

Anyone else feeling really emotional lately? I feel like everything is getting to me a bit, and I'm very teary. Not 100% sure why haha.

Brightsmoke · 04/04/2022 11:21

Hey everyone Smile

I've been off the thread for so long, hope everyone is OK! Cant believe we're in the last 3/4 of pregnancy now!

I've been super busy with work, had covid which floored me, a D&V bug, been away to Butlins, had a lovely weekend break for my 30th with my husband, and now slowly getting back to normal before little man arrives and throws everything up in the air again Grin.

We've decided on a home birth this time. Pre ordered my birthing pool hire, so starting to feel super organised and ready now!

Is there a FB page set up yet? I find it so much easier to keep up to date on there, and its where my first babies group went. I'll have a quick scroll back through and will set one up if I cant find a link :)

unknownscot · 04/04/2022 11:24

I think there's a lot of focus lately on the downside of induction, however, most people I know who have been induced have had a lovely birth with no major complications.

This is an ivf pregnancy so i get to choose between section and induction, I had initially thought I wanted a section but now opting to be induced around 38/39 weeks.

InvisibleDragon · 04/04/2022 11:44

@Octoblockisadick I'm definitely more emotional than usual! Was in tears yesterday because the lawnmower I convinced my husband we should buy arrived and I felt so guilty that I didn't deserve to have nice things for myself. Ffs. It also rained, so I couldn't even try it out.

Noticing I've been stress-eating a lot this last 2 weeks or so, which is usually a sign I'm feeling emotional/anxious but refusing to acknowledge it. So the blood sugar rollercoaster from eating biscuits is probably not helping either!
