@Rolledthedice ah I do definitely have SPD as well, reduced mobility and pain in my bum and hips. I didn't realise swollen labia could be connected to that too. Oh the things our bodies go through for our babies!

Rolledthedice · 02/04/2022 22:34

@GrowBabyGrow Yes I think they might be connected as it’s all muscles and ligaments overstretching! I’ll ask my physio about that and let you know what she says. I hope your SPD is manageable for you? I don’t know if that’s what I have but my glutes have been tight for weeks so I roll on a tennis ball to release the tissues. It’s mad what we put up with in order to grow these tiny humans!

RoseValleyRambles · 02/04/2022 23:07

@pregnancydiaries. Ouch. Hopefully a transfusion will make a difference, but I guess it's hard to rectify while baby is still sucking the iron out of you. Little vampire!

RoseValleyRambles · 02/04/2022 23:08

I've just booked a 4d scan for later this week now I've got to the 28 week sweet spot. So excited! Got a growth scan this week too so lots of chances to see baby.

GrowBabyGrow · 02/04/2022 23:12

@rolledthedice mine has got much worse in the past week but saw an osteopath and that has helped. Tennis ball is a good trick! Would be interested to know what your physio says.

@rosevalleyrambles eek that's exciting! We've got a 4D scan the weekend after next. Never thought I'd do one because they're quite pricey round her but we decided to do it as a wedding anniversary present to ourselves and I am so so excited to see her on a scan again!!

Jammymare · 03/04/2022 03:44

Has anyone had to remove their rings yet?
My friend warned me today not to leave it too late, but I think my hands are the only part of me that haven’t swollen up yet!

EarlGreywithLemon · 03/04/2022 05:53

@DaimDillyDoo I did have a prolapse after our daughter was born. It felt different to what you describe - it was a heavy, dragging feeling like my pelvic floor was about to fall out. Hopefully nothing like that for you.
@Jammymare I’ve been taking them off on occasion when my fingers feel swollen and it has been a struggle at times. In my last pregnancy I still had them on doing labour at 41 weeks, but not sure if I’ll get away with it this time.

Vimto1991 · 03/04/2022 07:39

@Jammymare I have done because it was getting difficult to take them off, and it did leave a mark when I did. Otherwise I’d forget to do it and it’d be too late. DH doesn’t wear a ring as the one he bought he’s allergic to so I told him that means we are no longer married as we don’t wear rings 😂😂

pregnancydiaries · 03/04/2022 08:55

Morning mummy's ♥️ does anyone know of anyone having COVID in their 3rd trimester and the outcome? I live in an area where it's very very rife and I'm panicking with all the 3rd trimester scaremongering around still birth etc. I'm a mess 😂

Turniptracker · 03/04/2022 09:08

@Prema112 I have the exact same as you described and practically in the same location! I did wonder if it's just the fact our insides are having the crap kicked out of us? I'm also finding all the pushing and skin stretching really gross

Vimto1991 · 03/04/2022 09:24

Just had my cat use my stomach as a jumping point to get to the window (sofa is pressed up against is), ended up in hysterics thinking the cat could harm/kill the baby. I didn’t even want to see his face and now I’m patiently waiting for baby to kick to know their alright. I know someone mentioned disliking their pets quite awhile ago, and this is definitley kicking in now. 😫

JAR1981 · 03/04/2022 09:45

Hi ladies. I’ve had a crazy week at work so just caught up on 5 days of posts! We’re away in London this weekend which is lovely as our last trip away as a two eeek.

Sorry to hear that the aches and pains are common now. I know I promised to share the exercises my physio gave me for lower back, upper glutes and hip pain (caused by relaxin putting all the ligaments around my pelvis and sacrum out of whack). Been doing them about 10 days now and they are really helping. Also got a Swiss ball as she recommended to bounce and do some pelvic tilts of every 2-3 hours at my desk. Just 5 mins here and there seems to make a difference.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone. We’re off for brunch shortly so must try and stop myself inhaling everything on the menu. I am also in the can’t stop eating club. Especially anything sweet which I feel guilty for, I just can’t seem to help it 🙄

Hi all,
Not really sure what I’m hoping to get from me posting this is, I suppose to get some sort of reassurance from anyone else? Bit of a long post, so apologies if you get bored halfway through 😂

So I’m currently 29+4 and a FTM. To give you a bit of context, I regularly felt kicks and was in some sort of pattern since around week 23-26, however since week 27 I’ve not been feeling a lot of movement.
I was in hospital twice before week 27 to check on reduced movement. They said nothing was wrong upon monitoring, but due to being in twice, they’ve booked me in for growth scans from week 27 and week 29. 1st scan showed a build up of amniotic fluid, and measuring on the smaller side of normal of femur length (5th percentile). Due to amniotic fluid, I was booked in for a glucose test which came back normal, no issues.
2nd growth scan showed amniotic fluid had reduced and baby was growing, but still on smaller side (9th percentile). No major worries but more just regular monitoring was recommended.

In between growth scans, I also had caught Covid, so that didn’t help! 😭

I’ve been up to the hospital a few days after last growth scan due to lack of movement and they again, monitored me and found no issues, and have booked me in with a consultant to keep a regular eye on growth, seeing as no one had got in touch with me to book in since last scan.

It’s hard when everyone at the similar stage to me shows videos of their baby kicking on the outside and apart from what I got in my 2nd trimester, my 3rd trimester so far has just been nothing but worry and anxiety over what’s considered normal and what’s not 😔. I do feel baby during the day as I can tell when they’re against certain parts of my stomach, due to it being rock hard, BUT just no kicks or seeing them move???

Surely a smaller baby won’t effect movement and even if they are lazy, surely I should still feel some sort of movement, even if once a day?
I’m just worried something will end up being wrong with my baby and I won’t really have much of a clue, apart from what shows at each scan!

ANY ADVICE? ❤️❤️
Thank you xx

RoseValleyRambles · 03/04/2022 14:37

@crazycatladyinsurrey That sounds super stressful. Worth having a chat with your consultant next time you see them about how you can best monitor movement given your situation, so you don't have to spend the next month in antenatal or feel guilty for not going.

Vimto1991 · 03/04/2022 15:13

@crazycatladyinsurrey if your baby is smaller I imagine kicks would be smaller, too. Also, where is the placenta? This can affect how much you feel. Also the baby can face away from your belly and kick your back! It sounds like they have been fine so far, so perhaps don’t think of it as reduced but just quieter? I have days where movement feels ‘reduced’ but I think the baby is probably in a different position.

I'm posterior as otherwise anterior would make more sense! I think they are back facing as my stomach can be rock hard in places mostly.

Comparison is definitely the thief of joy when it comes to Facebook groups etc, for what feels like I'm on a different journey to everyone else, this is my rainbow baby also so the anxiety has always been there! Xx

Vimto1991 · 03/04/2022 15:16

Completely off subject but I bought a corned beef and potato pasty - I’ve not had one or cared for one in years but suddenly wanted one. Eating mushy pink has made me so anxious although NHS says corned beef is fine I’m still sat here with anxiety. 😬

Starbeach · 03/04/2022 16:10

Hi all hope you're all ok. Baby has decided not to move too much today but I have an anterior placenta and I've felt her kick a couple of times and I have a growth scan tomorrow @ 29+3 so I'm not too worried.

everyone who's having growth scans are you consultant led? I have no idea really why I'm consultant led I was referred initially because we had IUI and I'm 39 but my midwife said that's standard and the were likely to refer me back to midwife care (believe it or not the amount of times I've had to say its not a form of IVF cause midwives don't know what it involves is worrying)

Ive never been measured and at my 20 week scan everything was measuring fine I'm hoping to go back to midwife led, as I live in a rural location and we have to travel an hour to the nearest obs led unit and that hospital is currently getting an absolute pasting about patient care, A&E mainly. but I've seen stories that there's 26 women in the Labour ward and only 2 midwives 😱 and the thank yous on their fb page are all after a stressful labour I had an emergency c-section (I don't mind going there if the c section is planned).

my local hospital just has a lovely little midwife unit where I feel safer to a degree although I don't fancy being blue lighted to that hospital.

has anyone gone from consultant led back to midwife led?

@PeeAche2 I have the whooping cough vaccine booked for next week has your hyperemesis calmed back down now 🤞. I'm not sure I can deal with that joy coming back!

Starbeach · 03/04/2022 16:14

@Vimto1991 omg I've never wanted one of those microwavable rustler burgers but for some reason in tesco the other day they were calling me and it was amazing 🙈

They usually disgust me as I prefer to make my own so I know whats going in them but my baby has decided healthly stuff is evil 😂😂 fruit, veg, meat all come back up but give me chocolate that stays down 🤦‍♀️

RoseValleyRambles · 03/04/2022 16:42

Growth scan here tomorrow too. Really looking forward to it. Have also had a super efficient day and ordered a bath and stand (shnuggle), changing mat and stand (beaba), and a mini UV proof garden tent so baby can be outdoors with me in the constant sunshine I'm hoping we get this summer...

Also got NCT sorted (very much begrudge the large lump of cash involved).

Hooray for gradual progress.

InvisibleDragon · 03/04/2022 16:47

@crazycatladyinsurrey that sounds stressful!

I'm also 29 weeks and I definitely can't see kicks from the outside either. If my husband has his hand on my belly, he often can't even feel movements that are obvious to me. Also, I'd say it's only been the last couple of weeks that I've been feeling lots of movement every day and my baby was on the 90th centile at 20 weeks - if your baby is smaller, they'll still have more space to wiggle around without you noticing.

When you next see the midwife or consultant, can you ask what position your baby is in? I agree with other posters that the strength of any kicks will really depend on where / how they are lying. As an example, sometimes I feel my baby kicking the sides of my belly, which feels like strong, typical kicks. But sometimes he sort of twiddles his toes? fingers? at something underneath, which is quite hard to discern at all (unless I have a really full bladder!). Are you not feeling anything, or do you feel movements that are different from kicking?

Flowerbug1994 · 03/04/2022 16:56

Growth scan here aswell tomorrow at will be 30+3. I can’t wait to see him again. I had off the scale stomach measurement at 20 scan so they thought might be GD had test and nothing come back off it and it was 2 weeks ago they said if you have it diabetes midwife will be in touch within 3 days. But nervous about tomorrow as I don’t know what options they will put to me if he’s still over 95th centile. I really don’t want to be induced I would rather a section than induced never heard good things induction so it makes me so anxious. Just wondering if you had to have baby early because of size would you rather induction or c section and why I need some level headed answers as my mind goes mad when I think of it 😭😭

yellowpinkbluegreen · 03/04/2022 17:51

@GrowBabyGrow @Rolledthedice I too had the puffy flaps 😂 last week! I mentioned it to a friend of mine and she said it sounded like thrush. That eve I took the thrush pessary and cream and next day all the swelling had gone and was back to normal! So could be thrush maybe??

fpeg · 03/04/2022 18:32

@Starbeach I'm not consultant led but am booked for growth scans at 32, 35 and 38 weeks. So it is possible to need them but still be midwife led.

Prema112 · 03/04/2022 18:36

@Turniptracker I'm relieved to hear I'm not the only one! It seems to get worse for me throughout the day, not bad in the morning. I wonder if I've pulled a muscle in there somewhere...
