Glad it's not just me - but sorry it put you guys through the wringer too. I have just had a horrible uncomfortable day and am fed up. Now I shall try and sleep on the correct side despite grumpy ribs, and doubtless wake up all through the night again. Grrr.

aus12 · 01/04/2022 10:23

Thanks to all the ladies who suggested shops for maternity wedding dresses a few pages ok, will check them all out & hopefully find something nice that actually fits & isn’t a tent!

I’ve had a pretty shitty few days & not really sure what to do. Saw my job advertised online for what is supposed to be my maternity cover but the job description says the role is for 2-3years....... I’m not even sure I want to go back after maternity leave but it seems like I won’t even have the option. Going to call pregnant then screwed today & see what they say. I’ve worked for them for nearly 5yrs & can’t believe after all this time they’d treat me like this let alone the fact its illegal & they don’t even seem to be trying to hide it!!

SouthwestSis · 01/04/2022 11:09

@aus12 I wouldn't assume they are not going to let you have your job back, perhaps they are expanding your team? Or predicting that you might want to return from mat leave on fewer hours?
Definitely check out your legal rights so you know the score, but they might still have good intentions.

DaimDillyDoo · 01/04/2022 11:27

Ooh it feels so real now!! How exciting for everyone getting their section dates!

Hope everyone is well ❤️

DaimDillyDoo · 01/04/2022 11:50

I'm still having heart beat problems - my resting heart beat is always around 112 and putting washing away sends it up to 177! I have an appointment with an obstetrician in 2.5 weeks.

I wonder if I'll be able to deliver naturally with a heart beat so high?

RoseValleyRambles · 01/04/2022 12:25

@daimdillydo waiting is horrid when there's a pregnancy countdown going on. That sucks. Sounds like someone else should take charge of laundry ;)

Hopefully there will be a quick fix once you do see them :(

Vimto1991 · 01/04/2022 15:13

@DaimDillyDoo would be interesting to know as my ecg showed a range from 59-170, but no one has told me I need a c section yet. Still waiting on results from my bloods/echocardiogram.
I know our heart rates go up by quite a lot when pregnant and I am unfit with a thyroid issue, but worried about my heart in labour so I feel your worry. Hopefully will be okay, you’d be heavily monitored anyway.

EarlGreywithLemon · 01/04/2022 15:31

I'm also becoming very breathless after doing almost anything. I'm not checking my heart rate so I don't know what it is. The other day I was completely winded from dressing myself and our daughter and the nursery run was very tricky. I've also felt faint a couple of times sitting down.

I have a joint cardiology/obstetrics appointment in 2 weeks so we'll see what they say, but last time they suggested it was fairly usual for pregnancy. My ECG and echo didn't show anything abnormal (other than my already diagnosed heart defect). Let's see what they say this time!

PeeAche2 · 01/04/2022 16:55

I'm in a tizz and it's so silly really.

I set about this morning to assemble some garden furniture that has arrived. I thought, when it was done, that it would be a nice surprise for my husband; in that he wouldn't have to do it himself.

Usually I would steam through it but after 6.5 hours I have managed 4 chairs.

I am breathless, aching, tired... and now emotional too.

Have you ever cried over a garden parasol? I have. 😢

P.S I've definitely made more work for my husband, not less. The garden looks atrocious.

PeeAche2 · 01/04/2022 16:56

I'm upset by how fat, weak and useless I have become. I thought I'd be "different" somehow.

Rolledthedice · 01/04/2022 16:58

Anyone else struggling with having a desk job? I’ve been very lucky and made it to 29 weeks with no movement issues, but this week a deadline meant I barely moved and now I have a horrible deep ache on right side of my thighs near vulva area. Having to walk slowly with baby steps and avoiding squatting / bending. Seeing my physio on Monday thankfully. I hope this isn’t a form of PGP.

Rolledthedice · 01/04/2022 17:00

@PeeAche2 amen to that! So much for the glowing earth mother I thought we’d all become!

RoseValleyRambles · 01/04/2022 17:08

I'm so here for this. I'm breathless and faint all morning, get back pain from sitting too long at my desk, and then knackered all evening. And I don't know what's fixable and what's just pregnancy! Sooo frustrating.
Getting some bloods Monday to check iron levels, but I have a horrible feeling this may just be 'normal' and I'll just have to sit it our for 3 months.

A lovely friend yesterday was really encouraging when I mentioned how tough I was finding it. She said to think of every day as one more day as a real achievement for my body and baby's. That made me feel a little better about feeling so useless. I think her exact words were "every hour is a job well done", and it's so true when it comes to how fast baby develops. If all we do is sit it out, that's still a pretty big thing. Whether or not we glow while doing it. Grin

Vimto1991 · 01/04/2022 17:13

@DaimDillyDoo @EarlGreywithLemon and anyone else whose heart is racing, here is some reassurance which may help:

‘ Pregnant women used to be told that their heart rate should not exceed 140 beats per minute. To put that number into context, the American Heart Association estimates that a 30-year-old woman’s heart rate should be between 95 and 162 beats per minute during moderate exercise. Today, there is no limit on heart rate for pregnant women. You should always avoid over-exertion, but you do not need to keep your heart rate below any particular number.’

Also, our resting heart rate increases every day we are pregnant as we need to pump more and more blood around our body! Hopefully this eases any worries until you speak to a specialist. (I’m going to try and take my own advice there)

@Rolledthedice @RoseValleyRambles
Im struggling with my desk job to the point I think a physical job would be easier. Everything feels squashed, I even go a bit light headed, ribs ache, stomach aches, I get groin pain. I work from home and the past week I’ve had to lie in bed with my laptop which isn’t ideal! Giving up 5 weeks before baby is due and going off early to cope 😅

Rolledthedice · 01/04/2022 17:24

@RoseValleyRambles Yes I’m also finding it hard to know what’s fixable and what just pregnancy stuff!

I love what your friend said, that is such a brilliant way of framing it. I will try to tell myself this, thank you. :)

@Vimto1991 I think you have the right idea finishing 5 weeks before!

Vimto1991 · 01/04/2022 17:30

@Rolledthedice I honestly thought I could go up until my waters break. I legit said this when I got pregnant. How naive of me!! 😂 what a fool!!
Id wanna see how long I can go but also, fuck it, this can be a present from me, to me 🙈 so may push for annual leave starting 2nd May despite not being due until 8th June. To be fair, being high risk, I’m getting tired of working, driving to the hospital, rushing back to continue working as well.

Rolledthedice · 01/04/2022 17:31

Lol me too, I really thought it was perfectly standard to just keep going until the end! Pregnancy is certainly a learning journey. 😂

aus12 · 01/04/2022 17:34

@SouthwestSis definitely not extending my team! I’m a nanny so it’s a one-person job. They’ve increased the hours & actually dropped the pay based on the job description so that will be their legal way around it unfortunately. Wasn’t sure I even wanted to go back but now looks like I’ll have no choice but to go back to teaching 👎🏼

beansprout55 · 01/04/2022 20:35

Well, physio was a waste of time. She was so lovely..... but it still was a waste of time.
I have really really bad PGP at the mo and suspected posterior vaginal prolapse. She said that they don't diagnose prolapse, they only give advice on exercises once it's happened?! I then told her what exercises I do for the PGP, open butterfly, pelvic tilts etc... She just said that's great and then showed me the best way to get out of bed (which I already knew?!).
So, I spent 45 mins with her and I came away with literally nothing which was disappointing. I should have just gone to a chiropractor or an osteopath for some manual therapy for the PGP. I've concluded nothing will make you not have PGP if you are a sufferer, but there are certain things you can do to ease it. Wasting money seeing someone to tell me what it says all over the net won't be one of them for me again!

I have been having bouts of breathlessness when sitting too and thought maybe iron so I requested they check iron levels at my GT test yesterday. Turns nout I was right and I'm anaemic (GT was fine) - So iron tablets should help with that and the fatigue!

mrkb · 01/04/2022 20:52

@beansprout55 that sounds so frustrating! I've been seeing an NHS physio for manual therapy and would recommend that if you can get it - it's very sore but does make a difference. They've upped my appointments too from once a month to once a fortnight and now, as of yesterday, once a week. She said to me that we are inevitably fighting a losing battle as the baby gets bigger which is why we're now doing weekly! Her aim is to just get me to the end haha. I'm not sure where yours is hurting most but mine is in my hips and glutes causing really bad lower back pain and she recommend getting a tennis ball and either sitting on it or or leaning against a wall using the ball to apply pressure to where the muscles were really tight - in between sessions. Hope that helps and do push for manual therapy if you can through NHS physio!

GrowBabyGrow · 01/04/2022 20:55

@beansprout55 that sounds so frustrating! Highly recommend seeing an osteopath if there is one near you that specialises in PGP. I went to see one yesterday and got a bit of a telling off about my posture but he identified the root cause of the pgp and did the osteopathy treatment to realign. Much less pain today. I have to go back each week but a lady in my pregnancy yoga class saw the same guy in her previous pregnancy and again in this one and said really it did help and she went from barely moving to being active up to birth!

Letsbekindplease · 01/04/2022 21:42

@beansprout55 so sorry you didn’t have much help there.
My osteopath is fantastic. She gave me some exercises to do everyday (I haven’t done them yet so will start tomorrow) haven’t even read the email to see what the exercises are and when I do I’ll send the to you if you like.
I too have the low iron
Really struggled today. Possibly the most exhausting day I’ve had so far ! I don’t think I’m going to last much longer at work. Really don’t want to go off sick either but I feel I need to.

EarlGreywithLemon · 01/04/2022 22:35

@beansprout55 I’m so sorry! That doesn’t sound very helpful at all. How do they know a prolapse has happened if they don’t diagnose it??

EarlGreywithLemon · 01/04/2022 22:38

@Vimto1991 thank you. That chimes in with what the cardiologist told me in my first pregnancy - which was to stop looking at the heart rate on my Fitbit, and just look at how I’m feeling generally.

hellointhere · 01/04/2022 22:59

Today I realised that there may not be any DHA in my prenatal vitamins. I've been taking the Seven Sea Pregnancy 2 All Stages one... anyone else? Should I switch or maybe just add an additional DHA vitamin? Feeling guilty about it.
