@destiEos that's so weird!! 😂😂 especially because you could wear a baggy top and they wouldn't know 😂 I just find it really odd !!!

Honey2 · 30/03/2022 09:17

@yellowpinkbluegreen how strange about the aspirin?? Was it the low dose 75mg - sometimes called 'baby aspirin'? that's the one you are supposed to take. Not the full strength version

fpeg · 30/03/2022 09:18

@yellowpinkbluegreen I had exactly this at boots last weekend! Apparently it's not licensed for use in pregnancy (which in fairness it probably isn't as not much is) and so they can't sell it to me despite being doctor recommended. If you can find it on the shelf they can't stop you buying it but if it's behind the counter pharmacist is liable for selling it to you. It's frustrating but I totally understand and the solution is as @destiEos says - to say it is for someone else. Only 5 weeks left of aspirin now though!

N.B. Pregnancy meant that I was not quite so reasoned at the time when I was told that I couldn't have it 😂 (I was also frustrated by the fact that the lady kept asking me why I didn't just get a prescription for my gaviscon and lactulose... it's free you know! When I had already explained that I felt the NHS could do with the funds more than me!)

PeeAche2 · 30/03/2022 09:29

Here to join the aspirin chatter:

Aspirin on the shelves isn't easy to find. Easy enough to find the space where it is supposed to be, but mostly I'm met with empty shelves and out of stock tickets.

It seems that it isn't just us pregnant ladies that are on the low dose recommendation, but also people with angina. My FIL takes 2 a day, like me. 🤣
It's in short supply! When I see it, I buy it!

Octoblockisadick · 30/03/2022 09:31

@JAR1981 glad it isn't just me! I'm just keeping an eye on it in case anything seems concerning now I think.

@Rolledthedice ooh how did you find the free classes? Just by googling the name?

@PleaseSendNoodles those pictures are amazing, look at her little lips!!

@yellowpinkbluegreen that's so strange! They are very restricted as to what they can sell legally though. I know I've sent my husband to buy things for me before because although I know its safe to take, I know they won't sell it to me. Don't think I would get away with hiding it with a baggy top now though, I'm pretty big haha!

Octoblockisadick · 30/03/2022 09:33

Re the aspirin - pregnancy dose is 150mg which is 2 of the baby aspirins, but full size aspirin are 300mg so you could always halve it if struggling to get the baby ones.
Or because they dissolve you can dissolve it in some water and take half (eg in 10ml and take 5ml), think it probably tastes vile dissolved though!

yellowpinkbluegreen · 30/03/2022 09:44

@fpeg how weird!!! I know I got irrationally annoyed afterwards 😂 blaming the hormones haha

@PeeAche2 a place I've found always seem to have them is coop - they're in a yellow box and 75mg per tablet!

@Octoblockisadick very odd 😂 I know I'm talking a verrrrrry baggy jumper hahaha.

On another note, isn't it so exciting that babies are going to be here so soon!!!!!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰

destiEos · 30/03/2022 09:45

@yellowpinkbluegreen I know, I wasn't even aware as I asked for recommended anti-nausea meds for pregnancy(none over the counter) before asking for the aspirin and he gave me the option "Are they for you?" and I stupidly said yes!

My aspirin are now on prescription (2x75mg) as the doc added them with my anti-nausea meds. I'd stopped taking it from IVF doctor as they said I may not need it anymore...was also taking the 300mg before, as I hadn't realised I was only supposed to take a wee bit :D

Vimto1991 · 30/03/2022 10:45

Gosh, I’m having such a horrid time at work. We have five new contracts going live, the person replacing me only started Monday, and I’m just so busy helping the team with the contract start that I’ve been getting a racing heart and palpitations from the stress. What’s worse is reading stress isn’t good for the baby, and people losing their baby from stress - this is making me more stressed! After Friday things should calm down, and I feel like a let down if I don’t work this week but I’m almost at the point of telling my manager I can’t work the rest of the week. It’s making me feel horrid, not just for me but for baby also. :(
I’m moving my maternity leave forward two weeks and bringing the two weeks annual leave forward so I finish end of April, but I’m so worried all my anxiety and stress is harming the baby now. :(

destiEos · 30/03/2022 11:13

@Vimto1991 I feel your pain, I'm not under anywhere near as much pressure, but am stressed anyway. The GD hasn't helped - doing 4 tests a day and getting spikes even after eating the recommended foods is stressing me out for baby and for myself :/

If it makes you feel any better, just remind yourself that it's just a job adn you can only do as much as you can do. At the end of the day walk away from it and forget about it. If that doesn't work, call in sick - there's no reason for you to put yourself through that sort of anxiety Daffodil

I tell myself the above daily :) And lastly - there's some good bank holidays coming up in April, so you get at least one long weekend before you start your mat leave. Yay!x

RoseValleyRambles · 30/03/2022 11:15

@pleasesendnoodles So cute! What a sweet pic of her face

@vimto1991 That sounds really tough. Ending early sounds good - that's not long to go!

I'm in for my whooping cough jab today (not done through midwife here I discovered so I had to arrange myself with GP, just in case anyone else is waiting for someone to arrange it for them...). Hoping for minimal side effects. How did others find it?

Jammymare · 30/03/2022 11:26

@Vimto1991 commiserations, I’m feeling similar pressure at work with our financial year end and no maternity cover in place until May.
How did it work brining your leave forwards? Did you have to get manager approval? I’m worried mine will enforce the 28 day notice and not approve moving my annual leave because said Mat cover doesn’t start until May. My husband is pushing me to get signed off with stress.

unknownscot · 30/03/2022 11:54

Has anyone noticed coning of their abdomen when sitting up from lying down or vice versa? X

Vimto1991 · 30/03/2022 12:08

@destiEos oh no :( sorry to hear the GD is causing anxiety. I do wish it was easier to manage! My friend and cousin both have GD and have found managing via food so difficult 😫 atleast you don’t have long to go, hope it goes soon after baby is here and you can treat yourself! Kudos to you for being able to finger prick yourself, I have a phobia of that 😫

@RoseValleyRambles counting down the days!

@Jammymare I’m so sorry to hear you are having the same issues at work. :( I haven’t asked yet but plan to on Monday once things have calmed down here. I think I will have to give 28 days notice as they have to inform HMRC, my due date is June 8th so trying to push mat leave to 23rd May which is plenty of notice. Same thing as you, though, depends if they approve of my annual leave or not! It’s not fair is it? I told my employee i was pregnant in October very early on to assure we would have cover in time for this month as we knew how busy we would be, and I can’t believe they only started Monday! So much to learn from me, puts even more pressure on me on top of my daily job.
I am very tempted to be off for stress, I’m just in two minds that the money i would really need due to them not paying maternity leave (which is another ordeal) but also screw them they haven’t cared for us!
I wish I hadn’t read of stress affecting the baby, I honestly think this just makes me more stressed! 😬

InvisibleDragon · 30/03/2022 12:59

@Vimto1991 and @Jammymare work is also stressful for me right now. Loads of paperwork for clients because I'm changing team at the end of this week and then 2 big deadlines in April and May (one right before mat leave starts - I hope the baby stays put!)

Baby seems to have moved today. Just as active as usual but prodding my bladder instead of my sides. I guess this is revenge for the ridiculous amount of sugar I ate yesterday.

pregnancydiaries · 30/03/2022 13:22

@unknownscot me!!!! Omg I didn't realise this meant something. What does this mean????

unknownscot · 30/03/2022 13:28
@unknownscot me!!!! Omg I didn't realise this meant something. What does this mean????
It's just the abdominal muscles separating but you should avoid doing any exercises or movements that cause it.

I've emailed physio to see if I can chat to them as I don't know much about it.

Jammymare · 30/03/2022 14:01

@InvisibleDragon sorry you’re having troubles too.
@Vimto1991 my due dates the 9th! Currently planning last day as 19th May using annual leave until May leave kicks in on the 6th. So scope to bring forwards by 20 days or so for the Mat leave only, as I can see them refusing to bring my annual leave forwards. I think I’d be fine working to the dates I had planned if they were actually supporting me to manage my workload in any way. Still being asked to keep my mat leave quiet from clients….

unknownscot · 30/03/2022 14:18

@pregnancydiaries I've just received this from a physio friend...

"How pregnant is she? It’s normal in pregnancy especially towards the end. She doesn’t need to be too scared of it as long as it’s ‘soft’ when she touches it, think like a balloon that’s semi inflated you can still squish it in, but a balloon when it’s fully inflated is hard. She wants to keep it soft I.e she’s not over stressing the muscles.

Tips: when lifting something heavy think about using an exhale breath and hug in bump towards her spine. If she is noticing it badly to reduce how much she’s lifting (if she can obvs if she’s lifting a child then she can’t)

Lying to sitting easier to do if she lies down onto her side first and then rolls onto her back then the same to sit roll onto her side then sit up!"

MrsNT · 30/03/2022 14:20

@vimto1991

You should be open with ur manager and say stress is affecting you at work and they need to take some pressure of you. Say you are struggling with physical and mental stress from extra work.which is fair enough given how far along we all are now.
I had a long day team meetinf where everyone had to go in and I openly told them ill dial in because of my rib pain I struggle with driving and sitting long. Plus guess what.. few team mates dialed in because they had covid... s

Vimto1991 · 30/03/2022 14:26

@Jammymare oooh very similar dates then!! Fingers crossed they would let you use annual leave, if not, I don’t think they can deny your mat leave being earlier as long as you give them that notice.

@MrsNT oh I’ve tried, no one is available to take the pressure off as everyone else is busy and we’re a small team. I’m also the only one who can do my job and the person taking over from me only started Monday so 😅 I don’t think I want to come back to this company in a year! Yeah I get everyone’s busy but not everyone is 30 weeks pregnant and they should have thought of that months ago! I’ve been sat here three days with chest pain and palpitations from stress. Not good for me let alone the baby. I work from home and no one is around to talk to as everyone is busy so I’m just on my phone and doing a bit of work here and there to help my stress. 🤷‍♀️

MrsNT · 30/03/2022 14:30

@vimto1991
Either get gp to sign you off sick for a week or take sick leave for 2 3 days urself. Use chest pain as the reason .

MrsNT · 30/03/2022 14:32

@vimto1991 work will be done eventually and even if no one knows how to do it they will manage..thats what i learned the hard way at my old job.. but health never returns and your and babys health is priority now.

I feel like I’m going to turn into a mini egg. I am eating them by the bag load.

My heart burn has also seriously upped its game and I am swigging in the early hours and also through the day.

Starting to feel so nervous about labour. We are so unorganised. I haven’t bought anything other than a beside crib.

Littlemilomoo · 30/03/2022 14:54

@destiEos I fall under the Telford/Shrewsbury trust and I’m terrified after all the issues reported. I’m down to give birth at Telford but I’m going to speak with midwife tomorrow and tell her I want a C-section.. these stories have really got to me and I just don’t want to take the risk now.. my anxiety about it all is through the roof!!
