@MrsNT Oh my word, I have never considered what I wore in labour and now I have no idea!! I can't believe I can't remember! I definitely wore a bra and no top as I got waaaaay too hot, but I may well have just been naked apart from that?! I remember taking my trousers off at the beginning as my water broke all over them. I'm really freaked out that I can't remember... maybe I was naked from bra down but had a sheet over me for the contraction phase... How strange that I don't know 🤷‍♀️

CurryandSnuggle · 16/03/2022 21:14

Gosh, don't know if babies head has engaged already, but I'm already feeling quite full lower down in my uterus and I keep getting lightning crotch. I'm 29 weeks on Friday. It's freaking me out a little but I've had no signs of early labour or anything like that, so just assume it's normal and she's just getting prepared early. Maybe it's just another symptom of my pelvic pain that I've been getting. I'm not sure. Anyone else getting this weird fullness/pressure feeling low down? I notice it more especially when I'm standing up.

CurryandSnuggle · 16/03/2022 21:17

@Prema112 I was completely undignified in my first labour, I just took all of my clothes off in the end. I seemed to have every midwife and doctor under the son putting their hands up my vagina as my labour went on so long and they kept checking how dilated I was (haha, sorry for being so graphic!) that in the end I thought.. well they've seen it all now why am I bothering wearing clothes? lol.

Prema112 · 16/03/2022 21:20

@CurryandSnuggle I think I may have been the same?! Like you say you get checked down there so often there's no point having anything on 🤣

EarlGreywithLemon · 16/03/2022 22:22

@MrsNT I wore one of these:

www.amazon.co.uk/HAPPY-Delivery-Hospital-Breastfeeding-Maternity/dp/B07V29L7P9/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?psc=1&crid=3D1YTSLW0042F&keywords=happy%2Bmama%2Blabour%2Bdress&sprefix=happy%2Bmama%2Bla%2Caps%2C87&th=1&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1647469005&sr=8-7

It has back access in case of epidural (which was actually used), as well as a button down front etc. and easy access for examinations. I had to change into a hospital gown in theatre for hygiene reasons, though the anaesthetist, bless her, tried to persuade the others to let me stay in this Grin

It didn’t go in the bin after. I used it as nighty and I still have it!

MrsNT · 16/03/2022 22:30

Thanks ladies.. im planning on making a trip to local poundland, primark etc to search for cheap button down nightdress/tunics

@earlgreywithlemon i was looking at happy mama stuff on their website earliar today but buying from amazon might b easiar to return if not the right size etc. Will see if they have something in half sleeves

OP posts:
EarlGreywithLemon · 16/03/2022 22:51

@MrsNT they definitely have short sleeve. I deliberately looked for sleeveless in case I got very hot (not usually the case with me at all, I run very cold- but I heard many did feel boiling hot in labour). If you do get happy mama, I found they are very generous with the sizing. Ideally I think I’d have gone down a size.

Clomid1 · 16/03/2022 23:02

Hi Everyone! Not been here for ages!

Hope you’re all doing well. We’re all either in or nearly in the third trimester! Can’t believe we’re here. I am 27 weeks on saturday so another week and a bit to join the third trimester crew.

Just wondering if any of you have started seeing baby move from the outside. Especially if your plus size or have an anterior placenta. I am both and can’t see movements from the outside yet.

Annabell1 · 16/03/2022 23:37

@Octoblockisadick Thanks, the rash already got a bit better. I'm trying to stick to things without perfume now.
@JAR1981 I'm the same, no bathing for me as I'm too scared of getting an infection. But I think it's absolutely normal to be cautious after a few losses.
@destiEos Sorry to hear about your Glucose test. Crossing fingers for your follow up appointment.

Gosh my week was so rubbish and exhausting. I went to triage on Monday after some pink spotting. They were absolutely lovely and did a CTG, which unfortunately didn't meet the criteria so they did not want to let me go.
The consultant then decided that I would need a steroid injection for lung development and she arranged a transfer to a different hospital with better neonatal care. I can't even describe how scared I was as no one was properly explaining to me what the problem was.
After 6 hours of CTG, two ultrasounds and seeing four doctors, they finally released me in the middle of the night. Had to go back for another CTG today and thankfully the criteria have been met. What a scary week, but I'm so relieved everything is well.

I hope everyone else is doing fine. Xx

PleaseSendNoodles · 17/03/2022 02:43

Oh gosh, @Annabell1 that sounds so scary. I’m glad everything is well, though! So you didn’t need the injection in the end?

@Clomid1 most days I can see one or two kicks through my skin and leggings. They tend to be the ones at the sides where my skin is most taught. I have an anterior placenta but not plus sized. I’d say the majority of kicks are fully inside though!

Turniptracker · 17/03/2022 06:16

@Clomid1 I have an anterior placenta but started seeing some of the stronger kicks from the outside about two weeks ago. he especially likes to try and kick my phone off my belly when I watch tiktok in bed. This thing has serious legs though and knows how too give me a right boot!

CurryandSnuggle · 17/03/2022 06:19

So much for my “mild” PGP. It’s suddenly got really bad. That’s what that pressure was I was feeling the last few days 😫 Every time I rolled over in bed my actual pubic bone by my vagina (as opposed to just my hips) was grinding and popping so loud. It hurt so much I yelped and it woke me up like 5 times and now I can hardly get out of bed. How can it get worse so suddenly 😫

CurryandSnuggle · 17/03/2022 06:25

@Clomid1 welcome back, I actually wondered where you were the other day! Nice to see everything’s going well for you Smile yay to third trimester… we’re in the home stretch now!

(Not ignoring your question: I’ve been seeing movements for a long time but I think I’m in the minority, however this is my second baby so I think that can affect it, and I have a posterior placenta and am size 10 so not very helpful for you! Sorry. I would say though with my first I was bigger pre-pregnancy and I had an anterior placenta, and I didn’t see movements until into third trimester, and was late feeling movements too.)

Annabell1 · 17/03/2022 08:10

Thank you @PleaseSendNoodles. ❤️ They gave me the first injection, but then decided to skip the second. The standard is two injections over two days.
I just hope it doesn't have any side effects.

Prema112 · 17/03/2022 08:59

@Annabell1 Oh how scary! So sorry you had to go through all that and they weren't explaining well. Did they tell you what the spotting was? I'm still obsessively checking the loo paper for blood, I suppose I will be until he's born! So glad you've come home now x

GrowBabyGrow · 17/03/2022 09:21

Oh @Annabell1 that sounds incredibly difficult! Hope you are resting and coming down from all that stress. Glad all criteria has been bet and baby is ok.

If anyone is interested in the Positive Birth Company hypnobirthing course, they have it on offer for £12 today. Usually it's £39.

@Clomid1 I'm plus size ish (size 16) and have been able to feel kicks from the outside on and off for a couple of weeks but it's only been the past couple of days that they've been really visible. Last night my husband was talking to bump and she kicked back and he got a bit of a boot to the face 🤣

GrowBabyGrow · 17/03/2022 09:22

*MET not bet

AlbatrossSociety · 17/03/2022 09:41

@Clomid1 I never know if I count as plus size or not as my bmi is in the obese range but I'm a size 12 🤷‍♀️. I have an anterior placenta too though and haven't seen any kicks from the outside, although if I'm holding my tea on my bump then often baby will kick it and I'll see the mug move... don't know if that counts!!

@Annabell1 sorry you had such a scary experience, sounds awful!

@GrowBabyGrow that's so funny! my husband hasn't felt any kicks yet and gets too impatient waiting 😂 think they will have to be a bit more definite for him to be able to feel them anyway.

Vimto1991 · 17/03/2022 10:24

@CurryandSnuggle I’ve had pressure and fullness and also pain in my right side groin that felt like slight period cramps. This has been 8 days now, no sign of early labour, hospital wasn’t concerned. Maybe mine is the pelvis pain you’ve described but in a different area. I’ve noticed if I’m sat in a car I feel it more, or wonder if it’s pressure from the weight of the bump.

@Clomid1 I have an anterior placenta which they said is quite high and I’m a 12/14. Baby has been kicking visibly on the outside for weeks but mainly due to them loving lying transverse or breach, so I wouldn’t worry, your placenta could be further down than mine and your baby may just be sat normally. 😂

Vimto1991 · 17/03/2022 10:33

Anyone else feeling sick recently? Is this just third trimester symptoms? 😅 no wonder they say second trimester is ‘easier’.

JAR1981 · 17/03/2022 10:34

Oh @Annabell1 you poor thing that sounds really scary, and not good that they weren’t explaining things clearly. Did they say why you didn’t make the CTG criteria initially? Thank goodness all ok with your recent monitoring though.

@GrowBabyGrow thanks for the tip on TPC course I will go order that now! The naked doula on Instagram also has a big discount on her course next week for those that are interested.

Is anyone else finding they’ve suddenly reached the point where it’s hard to put on socks and shoes? I have to sit down on a chair else I just knee my bump. I didn’t expect that already.

@MrsNT I’ve bought a couple of these for labour. Cheap and cheerful and I thought I can unbutton if hot and good for skin to skin/breastfeeding after. www.debenhams.com/product/boohoo-maternity-button-front-star-nightie_bzz00609?istCompanyId=76f7277d-6e78-4dc2-aaff-1eb77fae16b0&istFeedId=258a4886-8f3c-47ef-9369-d1eda8d84501&istItemId=ptptmwtaa&istBid=t&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIsM_X4fjM9gIVhWDmCh1iggxgEAQYBSABEgKjx_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Prema112 · 17/03/2022 10:35

@Vimto1991 I was literally just about to ask the same question! I keep getting waves of nausea! Also, (sorry tmi) throwing up a lot in my mouth Sad I suppose it's just because stomach and guts are getting squished!

EarlGreywithLemon · 17/03/2022 10:47

@Prema112 and @Vimto1991, yes to the nausea. Though to be fair, in my case it improved after 20 weeks, but never disappeared completely.

I find that very funny, because the only old wives' tale about the baby's sex that is supported by any evidence is that carrying a girl makes you more nauseous. Really not the case here. I was very nauseous with our daughter, but it was gone completely by 16 weeks.

pregnancydiaries · 17/03/2022 10:55

@EarlGreywithLemon I dread to think what I'll be like if I ever have a girl...sick 30+ times a day until week 22 and now just the odd 3 or 4....and there's definitely a wee guy in there with a little winky 😂💙

CurryandSnuggle · 17/03/2022 10:57

@Vimto1991 yeah sadly I think indigestion is more common because our stomach is getting squashed!

Sorry to read you’re getting the pelvic pressure as well.
