Oh great news @Lexber - Twinnies didn't want to wait for induction did they?!

I don't wash up anymore @Minster2012 @Kate105 but that's because DH has decided he 'doesn't know how the washing machine works' (yes, I know), so I no longer do any washing up/loading of the dishwasher!

becarefuloutthere · 12/04/2022 19:46

@Lexber eek honey! It's all go for you then, best of luck. You'll be in my thoughts xx

Minster2012 · 12/04/2022 20:31

@larrythelizard what!!!! We have a rule of whoever cooks doesn't wash up

@Juno231 I forgot to reply before about the double time off, that would be amazing but we have a good balance as when DH is here I basically get ignored or mean comments anyway so I can often chill then too. Last night when I took X back to bed & told him no, there is no night light anymore & I got "I hate you mummy go dead yourself" 😢I replied "ok darling long as you go to sleep I will, love you" 🙄

@feliznavidad2 did you survive?! Was it awful?

feliznavidad2 · 12/04/2022 20:35

Ahh so excited for you @Lexber it took me 4 days to get to 3cm dilated during my induction! 😂 😂 we're rooting for you lady.

@Minster2012 @InkyPaper @BellatrixK @larrythelizard survived it and don't have diabetes, which is a relief. Celebrated with homemade pizza (as you do Hmm) have got a stinking head ache so going to bed early but will catch up tomorrow. Don't think the insomnia helps, been awake since 4am. Angry

Minster2012 · 12/04/2022 20:53

Glad it was ok @feliznavidad2 and also jealous of your Tuesday night homemade pizza! Get an early night

Oh yes @paintfairy how was antenatal?

Lexber · 13/04/2022 01:23

Update - Not enough bed space in neonatal tonight so not breaking waters tonight - they nearly moved me to another hospital but decided against that thankfully. As I’m crampy and had quick labour with youngest they’ve given me some pain killers so I can sleep and put me on a ward and will look at it again tomorrow. They gave me the option to go home but in all honesty I'd rather stay here with my history and the fact it's twins which they agreed with too.

Sent OH home (he could have stayed) so we can both sleep. Really uncomfortable and pressure isn't helping.
Consultant said that earlier today there was space for babies but they've had a crazy afternoon/ evening but is hopeful some will be discharged in the morning from SCBU.

They don't think babies will need it, as I am now 36 weeks and had steroids and the only reason for early induction is size BUT they won't purposely break waters without there cot space just in case as they would rather be safe than sorry! Which I'm glad they are.

Absolutely shattered and codeine kicking in so going to try and sleep- internet signal is terrible !
Thank you for all the well wishes it means a lot, still very nervous but more relaxed being here and it's been decided due to my PgP and the fact it's twins I will be having an epidural.

I'm laid in my own room which is nice and can hear a little baby cry ❤️ I think once babies are here and I'm back on the ward OH will probably stay the night as he lived the comfy reclining chair 🤣🤣 but I told him to go home tonight to rest properly!!

Lexber · 13/04/2022 04:11

Managed an hour, woke really uncomfortable then drifted in and out of sleep for another hour.
Between sore hips and the pressure/cramps (but not actual contractions I don't think) sleep is non existent so after a loo trip I called for more pain killers.
More codeine and paracetamol, a few glasses of water and some crackers from my snack bag (my stomach was rumbling - lovely midwife offered to make me toast or bring me a sandwich bless her)

@bez91 all the staff have been absolutely lovely here so you will definitely be well looked after! Just waiting for the drugs to kick in so I can try and get more sleep!

Atleast if the do break my waters tomorrow and I have an epidural I might be able to grab an hour while I progress 🤞🏼

Minster2012 · 13/04/2022 07:01

@Lexber so pleased you are still in there, hanging in! Today will be the day & hope you've both got rest xxxx we are all behind you xxxx

larrythelizard · 13/04/2022 07:27

Hang in there @Lexber hopefully some cot space in SCBU frees up today and you can get on with it (first of all some sleep though!) x

Franklydear · 13/04/2022 07:31

@Lexber just checking in, glad you are well looked after, good to hear they don't think scbu will be needed

bez91 · 13/04/2022 07:44

Loving the updates @Lexber hopefully today is the day! Glad you're being well looked after.

Lexber · 13/04/2022 08:38

Just on monitor and possibly started having tightenings, I assumed it was just babies pushing out as I got cramps but my whole bump goes hard so could actually be progress without realising! Waiting for dr to see what the plan is next, hopefully back to the birth centre to crack on...

Not much else to report, woke starving! Managed a good hour sleep 5-6 then on off again for rest of morning so absolutely shattered!

Hope everyone is good today? Xx

InkyPaper · 13/04/2022 08:42

@Lexber thanks for keeping us updated ❤️ glad they're looking after you well and keeping my fingers crossed that space frees up for you and the babies today

feliznavidad2 · 13/04/2022 08:45

Exciting @Lexber sounds like things are going the way they should be. Xx

InkyPaper · 13/04/2022 08:47

Nervous for my booking in appt this morning 🙈 partly because I've never driven there before and I don't know if I'll be able to park there, which I always find massively stressful and partly because I had anxiety dreams all last night where I get there and the midwife just tells me there's been a mistake and I'm not pregnant...

DKDK123 · 13/04/2022 08:47

@lexber I love that the babies and your body went nah, we're not doing having an induction, we'll do it on our terms instead! 🥰 Hope those contractions ram up soon and you've got your little bundles in your arms before the dinner time 💕

DKDK123 · 13/04/2022 08:51

@InkyPaper the driving and parking at our hospital always gives me major anxiety. Give yourself plenty of time to get there and chill for a bit before you need to go in. Anxiety dreams are definitely a pregnancy thing but don't worry no reflection on real life the midwife will just ask you what will feel like a million questions about medical history etc and what support you'll have for baby. It's the next big step in your pregnancy, just think once it's over with the next exciting one is the scan 😊

Minster2012 · 13/04/2022 09:23

Loving these updates @Lexber come on babies do it your way!!

@InkyPaper parking is always a nightmare tbh and I get stressed about it. At least with me having so many appointments I know now which car park to use & have the app on my phone to extend it so it's not that stressful, it's just a fair walk from the unit 🙄. I'm sure all will be fine at the actual appointment but there's always worrying I'm afraid

I'm outside in a vest! A vest! Roll on spring
Also rant, nothing is ever simple...I ordered my phone upgrade on Monday, delivered yesterday. Except EE managed to actually deliver to the wrong address (they must have picked another from drop down list as actually wrong address) and then the phone is a completely different colour to what I wanted. I wouldn't mind & would keep any other except it's the one colour I don't want. BLUE!! So now gotta wait for a returns box then send it back blah blah blah, I couldn't just go into my local store & swap it oh no, too easy,

Got my growth scan later but end of day. Least she's being more active now

Kate105 · 13/04/2022 09:27

Come onnnnnnnn @Lexber you are a machine! 💪🏻

bez91 · 13/04/2022 09:35

@InkyPaper give yourself plenty of time to get there and all will be good 💕 they are less frequent but the anxiety dreams still a thing for me, I dreamt my belly just went really soft and I was just fat 🙈

@Minster2012 what a ball ache on the phone. You're right nothing is ever simple 😠 a vest? Certainly not that warm here! Will you get any indication of a date at your scan later?

DH getting on with his to do list whilst I WFH 🙈 I'm trying to madly get everything done in these next few days that I need to so I can chill working for the last few weeks. They recruited my replacement yesterday 😂

Minster2012 · 13/04/2022 09:59

@bez91 that's great for your replacement! I have written a list for DH too 😂though I'm still on patio blasting & the jet washer also lost power ffs. No I won't get a date until AFTER consultant appointment next Tuesday, they request the date so I guess it will then come through the post 😑so later next week or even after???

whatwonder · 13/04/2022 10:40

Loving the updates @Lexber - you're doing amazing!!

Okay so had my antenatal class last night and couple of things happened...

First off, they said it's not safe or recommended to let babies sleep through the night in a swaddle/sleepsuit, that for newborns they recommend putting them at the bottom of the cot/crib/basket/etc. and then tucking a blanket into the mattress, this is better for their temperature regulation and for their neurodevelopment as it's important for babies to be able to touch their face with their (uncovered) hands. Thoughts?? I definitely have some swaddle suits and sleepsuits that I planned on using (probs still will tbh).

And THEN, at the end of the session, we were about to start a conversation about how the body changes after birth and what we can expect to see and feel with our post natal bodies. But before we started, the instructor said "okay so everyone, we're now going to talk about the changes in women's bodies post birth, so male partners, if you want to go downstairs and get a drink and we can start our chat?" Like WTFFFFF I was fuming. Initially nobody moved and she really started pressuring the guys to get up and leave. You could argue that she was trying to create a "safe space" for us to talk as women, but then she just went over very basic information about what we can expect (how our bellies will look/feel, c-section scar care, how to care for stitches, postnatal bleeding, what to do if we get piles, etc.)I'm sorry, but shouldn't our partners be aware of all of this??? It's 2022 not 1952 ffs.

BellatrixK · 13/04/2022 11:21

@Lexber loving all of these updates. Glad that you’re being well looked after … and I hope you took the toast!

@InkyPaper what time is your appointment? Definitely arrive early, that will ease any parking anxieties. Is DH going with you? I’m with @DKDK12 I’m seeing the booking in as a step towards the next scan and trimester 2! After this next scan so much exciting stuff can happen!

@Minster2012 a vest?! It’s cold here, I’m fully cosy in a jumper and boots!

@bez91 that’s so good that you have a replacement! And excellent that DH is working that the list. Is it nursery/house stuff?

@whatwonder I’m with you. I think it’s unbelievable that men weren’t allowed to stay. How can they support their parents if they are shielded from the reality? I’m fuming about that!

My nausea has eased a lot today… that’s normal right? Probably good because I’m off out for lunch with a friend.

DKDK123 · 13/04/2022 11:30

@minster2012 definitely not vest weather here, I'm on the couch wrapped up with a blanket 😂 So frustrating on your phone 😡 Hope all goes well at the growth scan.

I had an appointment yesterday and they confirmed I have polyhydramnios (which I kind of suspected when they mentioned there was a lot of fluid last week). I would probably have freaked out and spent all night on Dr Google looking at all the grizzly tales of things that could go wrong but instead in my head I was just thinking, well other ladies on the bus have had/or have it and all's been fine. She also had to do a risk assessment score for post partum hemorrhaging it gets calculated on the computer after inputing different factors and mine came back really high but again I just shrugged and was like I lost 4.4litres last time and lived to tell the tale, I'm sure it won't be any worse than that. I was actually really surprised at myself and how chilled I was, think its the first appointment I've not been shitting myself at, no idea why I've just all of a sudden switched from being an anxious hormonal mess to completely chilled but I'm not complaining long may it continue!

@whatwonder I'd have thought it would have been the opposite with sleeping, if their hands are free they can pull the blanket over their face that's one of thr benefits of the sleeping bags you don't need to worry about it going over their face 🤔 I can see the overheating bit being true if you bundle them up with too many layers and a sleeping bag but sleeping bags tend to come with a guide to show you how many layers to put on them according to the temp of the room and they come in summer and winter togs. I suppose like all baby things it's just one of those many conflicting advice you get given that you just have to do your own research and make the decision thats best for you. Can't beleive they sent the male partners out tho, surely it's beneficial to them to know about the changes happening in their wives body in order to help her recovery physically and mentally, as you said its not the 1950s! Hope there were other parts of the course that were useful to you tho.

Lexber · 13/04/2022 11:57

Still pregnant and ended up in the monitor for nearly 1 hr 45 as it didn't for fill it first time, the monitor showed contractions starting but nothing unbearable yet.. seen dr this morning to discuss options and she explained why they've waited which I appreciate then saw another dr who said all good to go and we will be going back to birth suite later today... could be anytime really but I ordered my lunch so I'm hoping they wait a bit now as it will be here in 25 mins and I have apple crumble - bloody love apple crumble!!

Couldn't eat the toast this morning 😬 but OH brought me a bacon sandwich from cob shop and I managed half of that the. Just had a bit more as absolutely starving again!!
All the drs and mws are absolutely lovely. Had a bit of a bleed, not fresh and a bit watery (I thought I felt a bit of a trickle when I had a faint contraction on monitor so mw said to leave my liner for her to check) she's asked me to keep an eye on it for her. Most likely from yesterdays sweep but could be a little waters trickle... we shall see!

Roll on dinner time 🤣🤣 tempted to go straight for the crumble incase I can't eat much 🤣🤣🤣
