www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4522545-cf-would-you-park-on-the-driveway-of-a-house-you-were-viewing-to-buy

Is this OK? 🤔 I honestly wouldn't dream of doing it!

Minster2012 · 05/04/2022 20:46

Glad the world (& baby) isn't falling out of your vag @bez91 let's hope this weeks appointments help. Yeah I've just been doing sciatica pregnancy exercises off the internet cos that's what they'd do I guess. I prob am getting out the car wrong though 😂

@paintfairy you wouldn't dream of parking on the drive? Is that what you meant? Interesting as I'm the opposite! I wouldn't dream of parking anywhere else...you are going to that specific house, we have (like you do) a big truck & part of our house hunt was to find somewhere that could accommodate that, mine & other things like trailers. We viewed one house we really liked but we turned up separately & effectively got stuck in the driveway as our cars wouldn't fit, and the other house we got gazumped on DH knew he wouldn't be able to get a trailer up the drive so we'd have to widen the driveway. Really important! Then again the seller was also v rude!

larrythelizard · 05/04/2022 21:04

Well I don't know if he (?) was actually gripping it @paintfairy but it looked like it! Hope Covid passes soon, it's just annoying isn't it, the lack of decent meds available!

Suitably functional is all that's needed immediately post birth @feliznavidad2! I am trying to not buy anything (particularly for me) until i get stuff down from the loft and see what I already have!

Oh @DKDK123 that's a tough pill to swallow, it doesn't sound definite though, we can all keep fingers crossed for being awake and being nice and calm. I'm sure the dr thinks she's got the right balance between urgency and the best care for you. Wonder if bank holidays are also an issue for staffing?

Pleased your head is better @InkyPaper - I bought one of those 4head sticks which makes my skin sting and is a useful distraction from a sore head!

Scan is so close @BellatrixK 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Saw the pics @becarefuloutthere - she's gorgeous 😍

Maaaate I know you are a whirlwind but please try and make some concessions for your heavily pregnant self - like maybe online shopping so no need to walk round Tesco @Minster2012?!

Maybe baby has just dropped @bez91 thus the womb pain? Pleased you have an appt this week to chat it through though.

Is it after 20 weeks I'm meant to book in for my whooping cough? I can't remember?!

OP posts:
bez91 · 05/04/2022 21:08

@Minster2012 you might well be getting out the car wrong but unless you're a multi drop delivery driver can it really have that much impact if you might get in and out around 4 times a day 😆

@paintfairy I'm with you I wouldn't park on the drive either but I think it depends on context, maybe if in a permit area etc there definitely wouldn't be anywhere else to park? But if I had to I'd still mention oh sorry I had to park on your drive because XYZ, is anyone else due home... my driveway can fit 3 cars on but is super short so if they parked in a certain area they'd literally be looking straight down into my living room which would be weird 😆

@larrythelizard yes I think it's after 20 weeks for whooping cough, I'm sure I got mine at the same time as my scan at the hospital

Lexber · 06/04/2022 07:17

@Minster2012 another May baby born! 33+2 and happy and healthy! Also spotted in the comments another one in early labour in hospital trying to stop theirs coming at 32+5 I think it was.. they're an eager bunch!

35 weeks today and still pregnant 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Getting lots of lower pressure now, hard bump and faff pains on/off (have been for a few days those) a few people have said they don't think I will get to induction 😬
My bump feels so big and heavy (I will try and get a picture)

Scan at 12....

Minster2012 · 06/04/2022 08:01

@bez91 that's true I am not a multi drop driver so that's fine!

@larrythelizard are you suggesting I should save that well known child friendly activity of supermarket shopping & actually entertain my child for the afternoon instead?!??!! 🤪😜I guess I ought to sort some home deliveries!

There's more scans today right?
@Juno231 FINALLY your 20 weeks? And @Lexber on the scans to determine the main event!! yes i just looked at that!! And she looked great! It actually puts my mind at ease I think if any of ours that are due around the same time we're born now it'd be ok! She was moving around so much last night & im also with @bez91 unfortunately got the 💩too so hoping it doesn't mean anything

Minster2012 · 06/04/2022 08:21

Right @paintfairy @kaylsd it's MAFS time for me!

InkyPaper · 06/04/2022 09:13

@bez91 glad you're feeling a little better! Totally understandable to be worried about what's going on that you don't know about, hopefully your consultant will be able to put your mind at ease at your appointment tomorrow

@Lexber good luck at your scan today!!

@paintfairy oooh I'm with @Minster2012 here, I think I would use the drive unless I knew it was only one car big and then I'd be checking out the street parking situation. I guess it depends on where you're looking at though - we only have space for one car so anyone trying to park on our drive would be stuck

@larrythelizard I have one of those sticks too! Headache has finally and completely gone today after lingering at bit yesterday - such a relief!

@BellatrixK you only have one more day to wait right?! For your scan??

DKDK123 · 06/04/2022 09:52

@lexber hopefully even if they do need a spell in NICU it's not a long one. If I'm honest I was that exhausted after DS that part of me was actually relieved he was in NICU for a few days as it meant there were machines and nurses monitoring him round the clock, the keeping him alive bit didn't fall on me so I could visit but also rest if that makes sense. I remember the first night he was well enough to come sleep on the ward with me I was like shit now I'm the one responsible for making sure he's alive 24/7 theres no machine to sound an alarm if his oxygen falls too low and no nurses checking his stats round the clock it was rather daunting at first 🙈 I know no-one wants their baby in special care but at least there's that teeny silver lining if they are that they will have amazing nurses looking after them round the clock. Good luck for the scan today, hopefully they let you continue longer, keeping everything crossed for you 🤞

Glad you're feeling a bit better @inkypaper. Just tell yourself they have someone on work experience doing the admin this week and that's why the letter was full of errors 🙈

Only one more day till your scan @bellatrixK you've got this!

@Minster2012 not good on the sciatica pain, time to start listening to your body and slow it right down. (Says she that's taken weeks to finally listen to her own advice and slow down 😂). I can't even walk up the stairs properly anymore it's too painful, I need to make sure both feet are on the same step so it takes doubly as long, DH finds it hilarious and says I walk like I've shat myself, if I could lift my leg higher I'd kick him in the nuts.....shall store up that punishment for when I can 😂

@bez91 glad the symptoms have eased up a bit, hopefully the midwife will reassure you tomorrow and hopefully start to get a plan in place.

Enjoy seeing baby on the scan today @juno231 😁

I'm shattered today, kept waking up with nightmares that my waters had broken and I kept saying I can't go to hospital I need to wait for the strong team 🙈😂 But then it made me angry as it brought up a memory I'd forgotten about with DS when my waters did go at 35 weeks (from Google descriptions I think it was my hind waters not full waters) and it was a horrible male doctor on at the time in the ward who dismissed me and said it was too early for my waters to go, I must just have peed myself. Didn't even check, I assured him it wasn't pee I'd know the difference but he just kept telling me it would have been pee. It was later that day I then had the massive bleed and started to have proper contractions (which means yes I was most likely right about the waters if contractions started) that they realised baby had to come out. By then it was a different doc on shift and we were in the middle of an emergency so I forgot to go back and pull up that first doc on not believing me.
But as i was so fumign recalling it all I couldn't get back to sleep last night. 100% will be more prepared to be a better advocate for myself this time round, my advice for any 1st timers is to be confident that actually you do know your body best and doctors aren't always right so keep pushing if you feel somethings wrong, there are many little things I let slide in my first pregnancy as in my head they were the experts and knew best but in hindsight I wish I'd stood up for myself more now.

Juno231 · 06/04/2022 10:09

@DKDK123 wow what an arse that doctor was!! No wonder the anger kept you up last night

On the topic of parking at viewings I think it depends on the property for me. If on a residential road of semis/terraced then I would park on the street but if a big detached house I'd be trying out the drive lol.

Thanks for the reassurances ladies - I'm not worried about the baby getting it really, just annoyed about the faff of an IV, it potentially getting in the way of the birth I want etc. I think it means I have to go in as soon as my water breaks as well whereas I'd rather be at home for as long as possible. No matter if baby is healthy though!

Had my anatomy scan this morning - took 30 min and got all measurements thank god. Baby was camera shy so pics are terrible but everything is okay so that's good. Posterior placenta well away from cervix, my uterine blood flow still indicates I'm very low risk for pre-eclampsia and baby is pretty much bang on 50th percentile for everything. She is sitting upright in my uterus with her feet stomping on my bladder so that explains a thing or two...

Kate105 · 06/04/2022 10:30

@becarefuloutthere plastic playgroup is so-called because all the "plastic" girls I went to school with all attend with their babies. Their babies are invariably wearing matching outfits because there's always an "in" outfit that I never know about, usually horribly impractical, massive hair bows for girls etc... I'm the only one who doesn't have a tan and nails on, they're lucky if I've brushed my hair 😂🙈 I hate it because it's so bloody awkward but PTSD absolutely loves it so I'm going to suck it up for another few weeks until I go back to work...

Sorry about the strep B @Juno231 but I had to have an IV in throughout labour because of my induction and I could still move around and (mostly) do my own thing, so I'm sure it'll be fine!

Hope you're ok @Minster2012 definitely get on the online shopping! Slow the F down! This is like the time where I took myself on a massive 5 mile hill walk on my due date to try and get things going and just completely fucked my back and hips so had to spend the rest of my overdue time on the sofa 😂😂😂

Fingers (and legs lol) crossed for both of you @Lexber @DKDK123

Well. We went to an aquarium yesterday. I don't think PTSD has ever known fun like it 😂 his eyes were so wide all the way round. Best tenner I've ever spent!

Minsters Side Car - Thread 7 - annoying neighbours, second hand bargains and how many sleep suits should we buy again?!
DKDK123 · 06/04/2022 11:04

@Juno231 sounds like such a positive scan 🥰 I'm sure she's having a great time using your bladder as a trampoline 😂

@kate105 you're a better mum than me sticking it out at plastic playgroup. I never did find my tribe with DS, hoping to find some more 'normal' mums this time round.
But how cute is his wee face at the aquarium he looks mesmorised 🥰

bez91 · 06/04/2022 11:38

That's some dream @DKDK123 and what an arse that doctor is. If you're fully continent you definitely know the difference! Couldn't agree with your advice more for first time mummas, trust your body and your instincts and definitely stand up for yourself, ask questions that may seem silly as I wish I'd have done the same too 🙌🏼

@Juno231 glad the little lady is ok 😍 definitely explains a lot being sat in position like a little Buddha!

@Kate105 good for you sticking it out! I know the type, there were a couple of groups when I had DD either the plastic like you say who looked like they'd had 12 hours sleep every night or the hippy earth mums and none were my people 🙈 PTSD looks to have loved the aquarium!

Now I'm working from home apart from a day next week when I'm in the office I'm contemplating a long lunchtime to have a bath whilst the house is empty 🤔

larrythelizard · 06/04/2022 12:03

I wouldn't worry so much about entertaining your child @Minster2012, more looking after yourself...!

Eek exciting @Lexber - good luck today (ooh now I think - well, it would be but I'm sure they'll be running late!)

Agree with @bez91 and @DKDK123 that advocating for yourself is key, and prepping the DH/P's that they may need to do that for you if you're not in a position to.

Hi baby @Juno231, great to hear that she's cooking exactly as she should and all is well. How kind of her to use your bladder as a trampoline!

Aww look at PTSD @Kate105 gorgeous! Argh I hate other mums like that - it's all so necessary (I am a fake tan fan though and will be heading up to hit the bottle later on today!!)

Oh yes definitely do that @bez91 - I'm quite jealous, being alone in the house is such a rarity as DH also wfh.

Nausea is back today which is annoying, thought it was done with! As is DH, we're off to the other end of the country tomorrow for a wedding on Friday (his family) and he's done nothing about it - I've done all the organising. He was pretty shame faced when I pointed it out though.

OP posts:
Minster2012 · 06/04/2022 12:48

@larrythelizard he's not one to sit around but we are working on it, lots of chilled sticker crafts & books, that's rubbish on the nausea though, my DH also doesn't organise anything it's so frustrating

@Juno231 another hurdle done & so pleased all is well, I think we've all got trampoline parks inside us, they just love to make their presence felt 😍😂

@bez91 you better be in the bath?!

@Kate105 there's a good few of those mums at the ones I go to, but Suso other good ppl, I was meaning a room full of plastic 😂yesterday I was proud of myself, I initiated conversation with 2 other ladies, one in full scandi & the other who is having a baby next week & we chatted the full time so go me for putting myself out there!! Feeling smug 😊I will slow down. DH says the same. He's gonna come home more at lunch to walk the dogs or go for a run with them which is massively helpful

@DKDK123 horrible dream! I was talking over Insta message to @kaylsd yesterday about a thread I read on MN about how women in labour, or in pain from pregnancy are ignored as the doctors think they are exaggerating it or it's "part of childbirth" they should endure, or that a lot of treatments depend on what a doctor/midwife or consultant "believes". Not great

I am batch cooking queen today!! Got 3 things on the go so far, then plan to do more & scones too
The washing up will be awful 😂

paintfairy · 06/04/2022 12:49

Re the driveway thing- if it was a big country house on a country lane where it would make no sense to not park on the 'drive' then I would. And if it was permit only and nowhere to park then maybe I would (but I'd ask them if that was OK the minute they opened the door) but otherwise I wouldn't dream of it. I would never park on anyones drive (friends or otherwise) unless they specifically told me to. Maybe if the house was empty and being done by EA only it would seem less intrusive, but I certainly wouldn't if people lived there. 🤷‍♀️

@Lexber good luck at your scan! I hope you get a date!
@DKDK123 God. What a shame you didn't remember to complain about the dr! That was out of order!
@Juno231 great it was straightforward. I was surprised mine was and they got everything. Much easier than having to go back. 🤣
@Kate105 I for some reason assumed all the the toys and walls were plastic. 🤣 But that makes more sense! And that is my exact reason for not being thrilled about going to any baby stuff if it ends up being like that. I can't be doing with it. 🙄 Aquarium noted!
@larrythelizard yes after 20 weeks. But they say later is better as antibodies pass better or something. I don't know. 🤣 I've booked mine for 2 weeks time (I'll be 26 weeks). And we know men are useless!

I had consultant appointment 355 today. It was at 9.30am and the best one I've had yet- i went in just after 10am. They were slow though as there was a new dr shadowing who's come from another hospital and is learning the ropes. So actually I still didn't come out until 10.45am because of that. But it meant the dr was nicer as there was someone watching. 🤭 Everything fine and cervix could be seen this time and she was happy with it. So hopefully i don't have to go again! 🥳 She's ringing me after my 28 week scan. Meanwhile baby keeps poking limbs out or something. It hurts! I suddenly get a hard bit. She needs to pipe down...... 🤣

Lexber · 06/04/2022 13:36

Not read back yet just in carpark trying to get my head around it all!

He’s looking about 4lb 10, she’s looking about 4lb 6 so both dinky and his growth has slowed a little bit both are just below their centiles now so induction booked for next week 😬😳

Shit just got real - I am being induced in 6 days!!!!

DKDK123 · 06/04/2022 14:04

@Lexber I've been peeking in in anticipation of an update from you! You must be such a mixed bag of emotions right now take time to process it all. Induction in 6days must seem scarily close however that means you'll be 36 weeks (or just about to turn it), that's amazing you've kept those little twinnies cooking safely for that long that's only one week shy of (early) term so you have done an absolutely amazing job! Given their size they may need a short spell in SCBU just till they fatten up a little bit but they'll be under the best of care and keep focusing on all those little snuggles you'll finally be able to get with them once they're out 🥰

@bez91 I hope you managed a nice long peaceful bath

@larrythelizard annoying when the nausea randomly creeps back in again hope it manages to stay at bay while you're travelling to the wedding.

@Minster2012 all that batch cooking doesn't sound like the resting up that we all ordered you to do 😝 However as you've cooked I'd definitely be leaving all the washing up for DH.

@paintfairy bonus that there was someone else shadowing today so she had to be extra nice 😂 Glad your cervix was playing ball this time, hopefully you don't need to go back about it now.

Minster2012 · 06/04/2022 14:33

So next Tuesday or weds @Lexber it's realllllllll the end is nigh!!

Lexber · 06/04/2022 14:42

We went to meet the SCBU nurses and they were lovely and being premature we are expecting at least a day/night but we will see. I'm not worried thankfully @DKDK123 I think the fact we are prepared helps as apposed to having it thrown on us unexpectedly if that makes sense?
I'm exactly the same as you describe to @Minster2012 if I've been sat too long I can't get up 😬

A long lunchtime bath sounds immense @bez91 I hope you had one!! I would BUT I struggle to get out on my own now 🤣

@Juno231 beautiful picture ❤️ I know the bladder game well.. it's great fun 🤣

@larrythelizard typically my last appointment was the smoothest and quickest!!
I got there at 12 went to the loo for a pee and to get my sample and as I came out the sonographer was stood waiting for me! Half hour later (twin scans are always loads longer especially when trying to get all growth measurements and Doppler on cord blood flow and brain blood flow to ensure nothing restricted the growth with them being in the smaller side) then she took me direct to MWs for my observations which were all brill - nothing in week BP perfect, only gained 14.7kg from my booking appointment until now so happy with that considering. Then probably sat about 10/15 min (enjoyed my soreen bread and. A banana haha) and then the constant called me, I was his last patient for his clinic today so he was in a great mood 🤣 and was like "how are you? 6 days left..." and I was like "erm what?!" 🤣 apparently my twin consultant put on my notes induction booked for 12/4 so he rang the labour ward and turns out it wasn't act booked so he looked at me I gave him thumbs up and he booked it there and then... 😬 then sorted all paper work gave me a bit of info and asked if I had any questions then kicked me out wishing me good luck and have a nice day - he was lovely and very chatty/happy

@Kate105 he's a little cutie!!!

Check you out @Minster2012 on the batch cooking - I wish I had the energy or will you do so 🤣

Glad the appointment went well @paintfairy that's great news, and uplifts you a little walking out feeling more positive xx

Lexber · 06/04/2022 14:45

When we visited SCBU they had a set of 36 week twins delivered the night before that they were prepared for and hadn't even seen so at the minute it's 50/50 if they will need it or not - everything depends on if they can control their temperature, blood sugars and feeding... I am going into it with no expectations at all and hopeful of a pleasant experience and the safe arrival of 2 babies.

Yep @Minster2012 booked for 4pm so unless it's super quick prob looking Wednesday or even after depending. 3rd pregnancy so hopefully my body will just smash it out the park for me 🤣

Shit got real, super real 😬😬

bez91 · 06/04/2022 15:35

Had a dinnertime bath, currently WFH in my PJs so praying DH doesn't get a call out after work and can collect from nursery so I don't have to get dressed again 😆

@Minster2012 impressive on the batch cook, hope it turns out ok 👍🏼 and be careful mixing up recipes 🙈

@paintfairy the latest appointment doesn't sound too onerous if they were nice 😆 good news on the cervix too. hard bits are weird, I constant have a bum poking out the left hand side of me and my tummy looks alien like.

@Lexber woahh 6 days that's errrrrm soon 😬 6 days to chill. You've done fab like @DKDK123 said to get this far with twins. Great you got to meet the SBCU nurses too that's really good of them!

Vil10 · 06/04/2022 16:12

Sorry for a late catch up ladies!!

@larrythelizard so glad everything looked good with baby! Also join the club with awkward babies and having to have 2 scans, I swear they just like to keep us on our toes!!

@Minster2012 so glad everything went well with your scan too!! Trapped nerves really are the devil!! I hope it's better now??

@kaylsd wooo to being covid free!!

@whatwonder hope you're feeling better! There's loads of colds/stomach bugs going round it seems!

@bez91 I hope you managed to rest a little and your body has stopped playing tricks on you🤞🏼

@DKDK123 Amazing news!! Bet it was massive sigh of relief! And amazing you'll get your section date soon too!!

@becarefuloutthere don't apologise!! Spend every minute with your beautiful girl, she's just gorgeous!!

@Juno231 ohhh Noo sorry about the strep B!! There really is always something it seems! I hope you're feeling better x

@paintfairy sorry you're still feeling shitty, but glad baby seems to be doing okay!!

@InkyPaper glad you finally got your letter through!! Also I've had the same before with spelling errors, even my name🙄😂

@DKDK123 sorry you're feeling slightly deflated, but have some faith, this baby girl has defeated a lot of odds!! I'm keeping everything crossed that it'll be a calm one you can be awake for🤞🏼

@Juno231 so glad everything went well baby is doing good in there!! Trampoline bladder wooo!!

@Lexber 6 days!!! How bloody exciting!!! But I can understand if you have mixed emotions right now, 6 days isn't far off but you'll have your babies in your arms in 6 days🥺 also amazing you've kept them cooking for this long!! You got this!!

So update about the holiday thing, we rang Tui and they couldn't extend our holiday an extra 3 days as the hotel is full, so our only option was to take the later flight or cancel the holiday and get a refund, we didn't want to cancel as we got such a good deal (I thought maybe it was with flying back on Friday the 13th😂) but the late flight has been brought from to 9:30 so we're just going to stick with that and try and blag an extension on the room on the last day!
House thing is all good, just waiting for the lender to say all is fine with the coal mining report, solicitor said it should take about a week from them to get back to him and then a date can be arranged for move in🏡
Had my whooping cough vaccine yesterday and just got a little bit of a sore arm but I had a funny do this morning, I didn't have much of an appetite last night so literally had a yoghurt pouch and some pop out crisps for tea, woke up this morning got changed and suddenly went really dizzy and lightheaded, felt sick and was clammy/sweating, passed after about 5 mins but then I had a headache so had some golden syrup porridge and banana and a slice of jam on toast and felt a lot better instantly so think I needed some sugar?? OH was slightly worried, saying we should have a direct number for the midwife and said he's going to bring it up at the appointment next week, but I spoke to my friend who's a midwife and she said it's either a slight side affect from the vaccine or the fact I hadn't ate properly last night, so he seemed reassured by that! On the positive side he got to feel the baby last night, he was so so happy bless him, and then I cried😂 (shock)
Had a trip to IKEA today for some pointless house bits that really aren't essential (placemats, storage jars, nursery shelves, wine glasses) however wine glasses could be seen as essentials??

becarefuloutthere · 06/04/2022 20:12

@paintfairy yes, she's definitely disrupted our lives 😂 but for the good of course 😅 How are you getting on? Ooh need to read that thread!
@bez91 aw thank you 😊 hope you're ok today?! All sounds a tad stressful 😬
@larrythelizard thank you! We think so too 😃 shouldn't they book whooping cough for you?
@Lexber whoop how exciting, all so close for you now 😃😃
@Juno231 congrats on a successful scan, wonderful news! 👏🏾
@Kate105 ah ha I see! Well done you enduring it! Aw bless him, so mesmerised 🤩
@Vil10 aw thank you 😊 I just spend my time staring at her and looking through photos of her, I'm obsessed 😆 I'm glad things are ticking along nicely for you hun x

Minster2012 · 06/04/2022 20:14

And in possibly the worlds least romantic sentence I just said to DH "& that's probably the last time I can cut my toenails, next time it's on you love" 😂

@Vil10 it's been slightly better today but cooking hasn't helped standing up so now feeling it again I'm afraid. Oh and how the hell are wine glasses anything other than essential?! You def need to eat more darling 😬can't have you flaking out. You NEED to get a number for your midwife though but I think after 24 weeks they say phone your hospital too?

@bez91 did you have to do the nursery run? I'm feeling smug I've got chicken in white wine sauce, with a extra pot of sauce for something else, lasagne, spaghetti Bol, chilli con carne, sausage in red wine & onion marmalade, sausage casserole with butter beans. Plain chicken thighs cooked for X to go alongside! Still got more planned, things can just put with veg & schwarma chicken too as well as snacks like scones & cheese straws 😊, someone on my Aga group put a picture of ones she'd done with motivational messages for when her baby was born last year...look at these! (These aren't mine)

@Lexber it's lovely you got to look around too, though there will def be the safe arrival of 2 healthy babies AND you all safe & well & happy too 🥰
