@BellatrixK it's Thursday it's today your scan 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻we got you babe xxxxx

whatwonder · 07/04/2022 09:44

@Minster2012 v impressed with your batch cooking! those all sound delicious :) now go have a nap or a bath or something, you definitely need to rest up!

good luck with your scan today @BellatrixK !

@Lexber WOAHHH less than a week! you got this! you've done a brilliant job getting the babies this far, sounds like even if they do need a stint in the nicu/scbu it won't be for very long. have they said what type of induction you'll be getting?

@bez91 glad to hear the pains have settled, have the baths helped? I practically live in the bath right now, feel like some fat 17th century duke lol

@DKDK123 that dream did not sound fun, imagine it's bringing up loads of unpleasant thoughts/memories. I can totally understand your worries around it the baby comes early then you won't be getting the A Team, but your consultant is obviously just trying to have the best of everything in place for you, and I'm sure that even if Emily decides to come early, everyone who would be on shift would know what to do to keep you both safe. it might be worth asking the question about GA to your consultant though? She might be able to put your mind at ease about it?

@Juno231 glad to hear the scan went well! rats about the Strep B, I didn't realise they could test for it this early? I find the whole thing quite confusing, it's a standard test in Canada, but as others have said it seems quite unreliable? are you feeling better now with the antibiotics? Have you tried taking probiotics with them to avoid getting thrush?

@Vil10 annoying you couldn't extend the holiday, but it will still be a fab time! I also had a really intense reaction to the whooping cough jab (much more so than any of my 3 covid ones actually). hope you're feeling better now.

@Kate105 LOL at the plastics playgroup. and yeah, biggup you for still going. Photo of PTSD at the aquarium is adorable.

@paintfairy that thread was intense! I also don't understand what the big deal is, if you're selling your house, surely you'd expect people to park in your drive!? I don't have a car so bit of a moot point, but if I did, then I would definitely park in the drive. baffling.

Still having some intense hip/back/pelvic pain over here, can't do any long walks anymore which I'm pretty gutted about. I've been doing yoga, acupuncture and have seen an osteopath about it. Osteopath is pretty expensive and I'm still not entirely sure if it does anything (a lot of it is 'light touch' which I can't help but think is a made up course of treatment). anyone else have any remedies for pelvic girdle pain that has helped them??

Can we get a weeks update from everyone? Have lost track of where everyone's at. I'm 31+3 now.

BellatrixK · 07/04/2022 09:49

@DKDK123 I’m not surprised that you were so angry, I was angry on your behalf reading that. I’m so grateful that you shared it though. This thread has made me be much more forthright in demanding/checking things than I think I naturally would be.

@Kate105 I’m with PTSD. I love the aquarium. He looks so cute! Plastic girls are my worst nightmare, hoping to avoid that!

@Lexber whattttt?! So soon! But so exciting! You’re fine so well to get to 36 weeks with twins!

@Vil10 glad that things are going well with the house and that the holiday is sorted. 100% wine glasses are essential… especially in a few months when you can use them!

@Minster2012 I’m so so impressed with your batch cooking! I love catch cooking, but haven’t done it for ages.

Thank you so much for the well wishes ladies. It’s at 6pm so a few hours to wait. Luckily I’m in work so time passes quickly here! @whatwonder I’m exactly 8 weeks today.

whatwonder · 07/04/2022 09:53

ah one more thing, got my bloods back at my MW appointment on Tuesday and my iron is low (100 g/L) so I need to start taking iron supplements. Anyone find some that don't cause stomach problems/constipation?

becarefuloutthere · 07/04/2022 10:24

@whatwonder floradix was ok for me 👌🏾

whatwonder · 07/04/2022 10:55

thanks @becarefuloutthere, I did look at that. I'm potentially overthinking this, but floradix also has b vitamins, but the prenatal vitamin I take already has b vitamins. Do you know if it's fine to take too many b vitamins? can't remember if those are the type that you wee out if your body can't absorb anymore (like vitamin c) or if they get stored in fat cells etc (like vitamin A)

paintfairy · 07/04/2022 11:12

@BellatrixK 6pm?! Aaarrrgghhh. Good luck! 🤞🤞🤞

bez91 · 07/04/2022 11:47

@Minster2012 I did have to do the nursery run as DH got a call out very last minute 😩 wow great selection of meal prep! That's some impressive juggling to whip all those up on the same day! I haven't thought of snacks but freezer is practically full so will have to make them up as and when

@whatwonder fat duke in the bath 😆I'm not usually a big bath person so don't have them very often but yesterday it took a lot of aches and pains away and when in slow labour with DD all I wanted to do was sit in the bath! Maybe I'll try for a water birth! Do you have a yoga/birthing ball to help with posture and relieve pain on an evening?
I have some spatone sachets just to add to fresh orange juice in a morning for iron, mine is only borderline.
34+5 over here!

Thinking of you @BellatrixK glad work is keeping you busy and distracting you until then

Growth scan for me today too, hopefully DH has no emergencies and can come too

Lexber · 07/04/2022 12:09

Good luck today @BellatrixK 🤞🏼👍🏼🤞🏼👍🏼

Putting me to shame @Minster2012 with the batch cooking, and @bez91** who's already done hers. My cooking has gone a little simple of late due to lack of energy and exhaustion- kids have loved the meals out/take aways and quick and easy meals 🤣 I've made it very clear it's short term and I know when I go in hospital next week my dad will be cooking good from scratch meals for them (I'm having a shopping delivery for him Monday to make sure he has everything he will need) as he loves to cook and being retired it keeps him busy in the day, plus they love home made meals.

@whatwonder induction is all new to me! I think he mentioned a pessary initially as he isn't expecting my cervix to have dilated by then as only 36 weeks but saying that with it being twins it could have so we will see what happens Tuesday teatime..

@DKDK123 weird dreams are horrible and def hormone induced!! I had the weirdest/horrible one last night/this morning and I was in the middle of a war hiding in a under the stairs cupboard while armed soldiers were charging through the house, I woke up just after they found me... I think I have watched too much news lately so I'm going to try and not watch anything like that and stick to chick flicks and crap on Netflix!

@Vil10 it sounds like it was not enough to eat the night before as I've had that.
I find if I eat before bed I wake starving! But if I don't eat enough I wake feeling crap with not much appetite and tired/lightheaded.

@whatwonder I'm struggling bad with it, I'm really and days I've been taking paracetamol and the odd codeine to aid sleep when it's been to the point of laying in bed in tears (I was given codeine by a consultant at the hospital when admitted with covid and told I could use when needed - prob had about 5 tablets since leaving hospital in Jan) but a warm compress helps when I rest. I've also found alternate regular from sitting to moving/standing as I can't walk if I sit too long... it's so painful some days and frustrating too. I'm starting to worry about birth as I don't know how I will manage to keep my legs/hips in position for 2 natural deliveries without being in absolute agony so I may have to look at the epidural for that reason alongside others. Which after 2 deliveries on G&A leaves me heading into the he unknown a little more than I already am!
Also I'm on iron tablets but the standard ones dr gives you so taking lactulose alongside but finding lactulose is giving me stomach cramps a little so trying to drink pure orange juice along side to help with toilet going - but then the acid gives me heartburn 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣 so I've found if I dilute it with so much ice it fills a glass I can drink a couple of pints of it diluted a bit (prob works out a decent sized glass of juice without ice)

What time is your scan @bez91 ? Let us know how you get on, hopefully DH can come and it's not a long wait for you! They were quiet efficient yesterday so 🤞🏼

I had some cramping last night and could feel little man really pushing down causing me discomfort and pressure so much so I felt sore down there and had to put a warm compress on to ease the discomfort. Feeling a little crampy today too so we may get a spontaneous start before induction😬 we will see. But tbh if they do decide to come a few days earlier we aren't concerned now as it's so close to delivery day - 5 days til induction 😬 keep feeling like I need to pop too!
Had one yesterday (tmi) but it was an eye waterer and then a constipated one this morning (yep still constipated after all these weeks!) and now feel like I need to go again!! But know it will be all waste of time so in no rush 🤣

35+1 here and day of rest for me! Netflix, PJs, blanket and sofa as HV cancelled so didn't have to get dressed

(actual dd 11.05.22) so day before @DKDK123, 3 days before @bez91* and 11 days before @Minster2012* - and non of us will hit those dates 🤣 all 4 (5babies) are coming early! I love all our dates are so close and there will be 5 new babies within the next 5 weeks!!!

DKDK123 · 07/04/2022 13:38

@Vil10 that's rubbish that you couldn't extend your holiday but good that you can still get away. I'm getting so jealous seeing all the photos of my friends away for the Easter holidays in sunny places right now while I'm staring that the rain pouring from the heavens. Definitely make sure you keep eating even when you don't feel like it, remember your body is fuelling 2 people at the moment.

@Minster2012 mega jealous at the sound of all your prepped meals, well done you.....But yes now time for rest! Had to laugh at your toenail comment as I said to DH yesterday I think you'll be on sock duty soon as I'm struggling to get them on myself 😂

@whatwonder the only thing I've found to help is moving little and often, resting seems to be the most comfortable but if I rest for too long then it's agony to stand up or walk so I sit with my feet up as much as poss but every 15-20mins get up to get a glass of water or just have a small walk about. If I'm on my feet any more than 10mins I'm in agony. I've put a stool in the kitchen for cooking dinner so I do a small bit then sit on the stool for rest then get back up do the next bit, same with the washing etc small batches inbetween rests on the stool. Small steps no big strides and taking the stairs one at a time with both feet on the same step before moving to the next one. Unfortunately I've no wise advice for magic instant pain relief but just doing all those little things and listening to my body helps a little at least.

@bellatrixK ooft long wait for you today but glad you have work to keep your mind off it a bit and hopefully make the time pass quicker. We're all here for a hand hold we know how nerve wracking it can be.

@bez91 hope all's heading in the right direction with the growth scan today and that DH gets to be there with you.

@lexber glad you got a chance to meet some of the nurses from SCBU, I found they were the nicests people ever but I suppose it takes a special kind of person to work in SCBU. Hopefully your DS isn't planning an early escape he's just starting to prep your body for next week so that you labour quickly after your induction.

I'm 33 weeks today, official DD isn't actually until the 26/5, they had planned not to let me go beyond the week of 5/5 but now that's been pushed back to the 10/5. Personally my gut instinct is I'm not making it that far but as long as I get to 35 weeks which is when I had DS then anything beyond that is a bonus. I did give myself a talking to last night remembering the journey and heartache it took to get here and the 8 little jellybeans that didnt make it so at the end of the day being awake isnt my prority anymore, if I make it to 10/5 for my nice planned calm section I'll be over the moon, but if I don't make it to then or if I have to be put asleep again I just want a happy, healthy baby out of it that really is all that matters at the end of the day. 💕

Minster2012 · 07/04/2022 14:41

I feel like I need both a bath & nap @whatwonder! I totally get you on the struggling to walk in the same, I'm just doing exercises from the internet as opposed to paying cos I'm tight like that! I think I'd laugh at someone if they said they were just going to do "light touch"! I'm 33+4 today

@BellatrixK only 4 hours left 🤞🏻

@bez91 I've just told MIL she's on making cake & sausage roll duty 😂im just going to make some scones (cheese, blueberry & cherry cos I have moved the frozen blueberries & cherries out of the freezer for more room!) drat on the nursery run I went out with DS Friday night after my bath to go take some pictures of lambs so I just put on joggers & no bra but big coat 😂

@Lexber omg yes they'll be 5 babies in about 5 weeks that's CRAZY stuff!! Ooo I've got codeine at home, is that ok for the pain? Might have that on standby too then. I'm sorry you are struggling with constipation I'm taking loperamide as I'm the other way!! If your dad is a great cook & enjoys it then you don't need to!

@DKDK123 ha yes, socks, shoes, toe nails the works! I think you are absolutely right, the journey here to this baby, & also the stress you had with DS & bleeding it would just be great for a good birth & both you & her being well. I know it's not ideal to say that but a GA wouldn't be the end of the world just a short delay on meeting her 🥰

Juno231 · 07/04/2022 15:01

@Minster2012 ah so much batch cooking!! Well done woman! I always planned on having lots batch cooked for the arrival of baby but if we're gonna be in rented accommodation with limited freezer space it's not looking likely is it... I'll be jealous of you instead!

@Lexber Christ alive - next week?? That's mad isn't it - better settle on those names pronto then 😁

@Vil10 crap that they couldn't extend the hotel for you but it will still be amazing to get away and to be in the sun ☀️

I had another cervix scan today. Still 34mm as it has been for 6 weeks now... I told them I won't be here for the next scan as I'll be abroad and luckily they were surprisingly accommodating! What they'll do is get me in for a final scan next Thursday to discharge me officially, as apparently they would have done that at 24 weeks anyway 🤷.

It was a right palaver though as I showed up for my 9am appointment (I have a letter that says it!) And they insisted I was really late for a 8.30am appointment so I ended up having to wait ages for them to see me.

I've also got a consultant appointment at the antenatal clinic next Thursday at 10am but have no clue what for...

In other news my boss' wife's water broke yesterday (3 weeks early) so i think that means I won't see him for a month now??

Minster2012 · 07/04/2022 15:25

@Juno231 I prob won't want to eat most of the stuff I've made when the time comes 😂have you heard anything on the flats? That's so annoying on the appointment, say what?? What did they say when you showed them?! Mind you that was like when I drove to Leeds for my appointment & they said "it's a telephone one" & I showed them my letter saying face to face! That's great on the cervix though! So this means it might be better for your boss if he goes off sooner then you off?! Staffing wise that is 😂

Juno231 · 07/04/2022 15:49

@Minster2012 bid on two this week - one we got rejected because the other couple offered a 24 month contract. For the other we got outbid even though we bid over asking - we even had to do an interview for that one! Bid on a third one today 🤞

When I showed them the letter it was met with "I don't know what that is about, you should have gone with the time in your maternity book". They def seemed to think I was at fault.

I'm the same as you tbf, I'm terrible at eating the stuff I have in the freezer - somehow I'm never in the mood for it!

Minster2012 · 07/04/2022 16:04

I wouldn't have even thought to then check my maternity book @Juno231 🤬I'm actually good at doing a big freezer eat up in general cos of the meat that DH brings from shooting but I still need to go through 2 drawers of really random crap like chopped herbs, breadcrumbs, left over meringue 🤪and I have to say the lasagne I made yesterday didn't look that appealing 😂

Minster2012 · 07/04/2022 16:06

Sorry posted too soon @Juno231 the flats I guess they want a longer contract 😬we'll vouch for you!

Juno231 · 07/04/2022 16:10

@Minster2012 yeah although we're still saying 12 month contract (without them knowing we're planning on using the 6 month break clause) but the market is doooo hot atm that people are offering anything they can to get a flat. You can freeze meringue?? Oh and my letter is dated AFTER whatever is in the mat book so naturally I thought it superceded whatever the original appointment was...

Minster2012 · 07/04/2022 16:47

Yes you can freeze meringue @Juno231! Yes that makes sense on the contracts, well fingers crossed this third one 🤞🏻

Vil10 · 07/04/2022 16:48

@becarefuloutthere I don't even blame you!!

@Minster2012 oh I can imagine!! Where is the trapped nerve? Those meals sound delicious😋 I really do, I think it's shocking I have no direct contact with anyone, however I've seen the midwife twice and they've been a different person so not even had the same one🤔

@whatwonder it was but now I'm just happy we're still able to get away!! In hindsight I think the funny do was lack of food related and not whooping cough! Rubbish you had a reaction to it though!! Oh pelvic/hip pain doesn't sound fun, 2 of my friends suffered with that too and struggled going for walks, I haven't got any remedies but I hope you find one soon!! Can't believe you're 31 weeks!! It's flying! I'm 23+3!

@BellatrixK hahahaa they are!! Good luck today lovely, I'll keep checking in🤞🏼❤️

@bez91 good luck with the scan today❤️

@Lexber I think it was that now too! It's strange isn't it, if I eat too late I feel shit and sick and can't sleep! I think I need to start eating as soon as I wake up! Ahhh could this be the start of something!!! It's all a waiting game now isn't it!! Also I'm still constipated as well!!

@DKDK123 yeah I shouldn't complain really! I just hope the weather is okay with us going in early may🤞🏼 the rain is just awful isn't it!! Maybe do ab in house pamper and close the curtains so you can't see the rain😂 you're right!! Loving your attitude today, and you're so right, this baby is such a fighter and has defied a lot of odds, she's amazing and so are you💪🏽

@Juno231 definitely!! Glad the cervix check was all still okay and great they were so accommodating to you being away! However very annoying on the appointment today, why do they make out like it's our fault??🤔 keeping everything crossed for you for the 3rd flat today🤞🏼

So our close friends started TTC a few months after us and sadly it wasn't happening for them either, so they went for tests etc and the girl had her tests and first appointment then they were waiting for his sample results and their referral to come through, she told me she'd let me know when their appointment came through, I got a text from her last night saying they never needed the appointment as she's 8 weeks pregnant!! I was so happy for them I cried!! Means I'll have another friend to spend MAT leave with and they're also going to the wedding abroad next year so our baby won't be the only little one there (all other children are 5 and above) I'm still not over their news, it really is amazing how things work out!!

I went swimming this morning for the first time in years but absolutely loved it, I felt so good afterwards, didn't even feel guilty for eating a donut after my salad😂 OH is really into his swimming and sauna at the minute so we're going swimming together on Saturday after we've ordered our sofa, oh how our Saturdays have changed😂😂

Lexber · 07/04/2022 17:28

@Minster2012 he does love it but that's the girls well fed while I'm in hospital, but what about me when I get home? 🤣 it may be worth checking with your consultant about the codeine. I'd hate to say it's fine and they would advise against it if that makes sense?

@Juno231 yup 5 days... and still no names 🤣🤣 I'm hoping when we see them we just know!

@Vil10 im the same if I eat to late I wake in the night being sick, or can't sleep as have ridiculous acid even on medication it's unreal 😬 awww that's amazing for your friend!! ❤️

Great about the cervix @Juno231 but that appointment stress is really unneeded, half they've been accommodating on the next one for you.

I may have fell asleep on the sofa for a couple of hours, woke to let the eldest in after school as youngest went to science club and had the key, but then crashed again and just woke up... I must have needed it!

Franklydear · 07/04/2022 17:54

@Lexber I got home earlier than the boys today, so had a cheeky hot cross bun, toasted, with ice cream and chocolate sauce, and whipped cream, nobody will ever know
@Vil10 that is fantastic on all fronts with your friend
@Juno231 et all, definitely advocate for yourselves, tolerance cero, my labour was quite horrific but turned up well in the end, the hv were doing my head in, specially with weaning, they wanted me to start baby rice at 4 months cos ds was tall, big, ok, so they made notes in the red book that mum has been adviced to do xyz but no action yet, nice, so I started writing in the red book myself, mum won’t start weaning in baby rice early because according to x paper published in y institution is way too early and according to z paper equally well peer reviewed, baby rice is just empty calories with no nutrition and contraproductive really, I did cite my sources as I can write a paper, and they stop doing that, also mellow a lot in their advice

BellatrixK · 07/04/2022 18:42

Ladies, it was perfect! All good at the scan!! So bloody happy. Measuring 8+1. Thank you for looking after me these last few weeks. xxxx

Franklydear · 07/04/2022 18:49

Fantastic @BellatrixK you can breath a little now, and so can we, we’re drowning in paperwork to entry Spain, I also realised I cannot renew my passport there cos it’s linked to my settled status, so I am having to battle the burocrats at the embassy, so that’s my easy plan out the window

Minster2012 · 07/04/2022 19:08

@Vil10 that's def shocking, you should be able to get a number for the midwife TEAM though? I have numbers for the team (a mobile) the department (a land line) & an allocated mobile number for my midwife??? You need a number! The trapped nerve is bottom of my back on the left or top left of my buttock so I get shooting pains through my left buttock & left leg at random times but especially when sat on the toilet 🤬. The midwife today showed me her referral on 16th March to the physio was accepted but I've heard nothing. She gave me couple more exercises to do to try move baby as she thinks it's to do with her position. That's so lovely about your friends, god how many of your friends are pregnant/have babies 😂

@Lexber your dad can cook some more meals at home & bring them to you in batches when he sees his grandchild??? You need to suggest that! And nap more often 😂

@BellatrixK 🥰😍❤️🎉😊🥰😍❤️that's all I can do, I'm so happy for you. I mean the worry doesn't stop but hurdle one done. Still frustrates me that STILL ppl can't get progesterone easy 😞soooo pleased 😀

bez91 · 07/04/2022 19:32

Scan done, DH managed to make it 😊bizarrely my AFI has reduced dramatically in 2 weeks by a whole 10cm so is now completely normal, everything is normal and baby is around 5lb 3oz (only a lb below what DD was born 😬) so met with the consultant and basically said there is no need to induce so it looks like I won't be joining the early club with @DKDK123 @Minster2012 @Lexber obviously very happy but in a weird way I'd prepared myself for early induction so also a bit annoying I don't have a 'set date' which would have worked better for childcare 🙈

@Juno231 we seem to have a lot of good cervix's lately, good news! Annoying on the appointment, do they think you have a crystal ball or something. The flat situation must be frustrating for you, it's not as if you can bunk with friends either I suppose with baby due. Will your whole house be out of bounds during the Reno or is there anyway you can live there for some time?

@Vil10 lovely news for your friend 🥰 always helpful to have someone with similar age children on holiday as they're on the same page as you. Swimming feels so good after for your cardiovascular system, I always feel like my lung capacity increases by loads and so nice when pregnant too until you have to get out and your body feels like it weighs 40stone again 😆

@BellatrixK that's fantastic, glad there's a little healthy bean growing in there happy and healthy 🥰
