@NorfolkBird

Oh ok I don't know why I wasn't offered a NIPT there. Do u request 1? Yeah I was definitely 12 wks when I had my scan.
I was under the impression if you get high risk results come back then they're to offer you nipt. Hope you're doing okay ? As you can be that is. Sorry I can't be more supportive but it's all new to me but it looks like some ladies on here have a little more experience which is good for you to talk about if you want too.

I had my scan today, measuring what I thought so due 10th October. Struggled to get the measurements at first and I was put in all sorts of positions! But glad it's been done ❤️

Vie8126 · 03/04/2022 14:22

@norfolkbird not all trusts offer NIPT but defo defo ask you can have them done privately our local hey baby offers them but they are around 400 to 500. It's just blood and gives them all the baby's genetics even sex, I'd call them and ask if you can have it and if it's covered. Sending you lots of love please do keep talking your head must be all over the place esp with the waiting xxx

NorfolkBird · 03/04/2022 15:03

@thunderonlyhappenswhenits I'm so glad you're scan went well 💓 @vie8126 Yeah I'm doing ok as for my partner hes not so good we have been sat in separate rooms i don't know whats going on with him its all I need hes got his own problems & he won't talk 2 me have been with him 4 & a half years. Thinking do I leave him so I've got that to deal with aswell.
Midwife at the hospital is ringing me tomorrow ill ask her about those tests if I can have it there. Thanks for being there it means alot

Dreams2727 · 03/04/2022 16:13

@NorfolkBird NIPT is usually private but I think NHS will do it if necessary. It looks at the cell free dna found in mum's blood after 10 weeks and gives a risk factor for the major trisonomies.
I did it instead of the NT test, appreciate I was lucky enough to afford it. It was recommended to me as I have severe needle phobia and it was a much more accurate way of screening.
Have a look on the NHS website for your local trust, I like to think they'd help you with all the testing they can ❤️ xx when's your next scan?

PoopMaster · 03/04/2022 16:38

Hi @NorfolkBird, when I had my NIPT they said it technically wasn't recommended for a risk of 1/10 or less, so more for 1/12 to 1/150. Because it had been booked for me really quickly (before the NT blood results had come back) we got it anyway, but they said it's no longer 99% accurate in higher risk cases like ours. Our trust NIPT only tests for 3 conditions, T21/T18/T13 so not as detailed as private, where they can check sex and a few other conditions as well. If they have gone straight to CVS/amnio it might be because of the higher risk from the NT measurement. I would see what the midwife says tomorrow, it's a lot to take in but you can ask lots of questions and they will hopefully be able to go through it all with you. Unfortunately what they can't do is give a straight answer on your baby which is the hard bit I know Thanks

LittleRobins · 03/04/2022 19:00

Joining a little late as I’ve had such a dodgy pregnancy so far with the loss of one twin, bleeding from 5-12 weeks and a large ovarian cyst which has thankfully gone now. I had a miscarriage last year so wanted to wait a bit til it felt safer to join. I’m due 7th October :)

@NorfolkBird My thoughts are with you and I’m so sorry to hear what you and your partner are going through. It sounds like you both need time to process what’s happening, but I don’t think nows the best time to decide whether to leave him or not. My husband deals with things in the same way and needs time to himself to think things through. Hopefully you’ll both receive some more certain information on what’s going on soon, there’s a chance everything could be okay. I’ve got everything crossed for you both

Vie8126 · 04/04/2022 07:00

@NorfolkBird I hope you are managing to get some sleep. With your partner, well we all deal with things differently I would leave him to deal with it how he needs to and just be there when he is ready to talk. I would focus on you for next few days. Good luck with the call today. Thinking of you xxx

Simonaxx · 04/04/2022 07:46

Hi ladies!
I would like to be added please. Sorry i am new to this forum so no idea how to use it yet!Hmm can I also be added to Facebook group?
I am due on 28th of October, went for an early scan as had some spotting and saw our little baby looking good which was such a blessing as we had miscarriage last year. Fingers crossed everything goes Well with this one..
I have a question, can anyone suggest any nice leggings or anything like that for office? My normal jeans are getting tight! What do you ladies wear? x tia

NorfolkBird · 04/04/2022 11:09

Hi ladies just a update my bloods came back with 1 in 5 chance with DS she told me about the NIPT test so ill be having that on Wednesday. Feeling mixed emotions atm Hmm

Nikki037297 · 04/04/2022 11:23

That’s what my risk was too 1in5 and my baby was clear form everything tbey tested for and it all turned out it was his heart: his heart had no developed properly. It was fixable with surgeries which is what I went for. He’s doing good now after many surgeries

Nikki037297 · 04/04/2022 11:24

@Simonaxx I am still in my size 10 skinny jeans at 14 weeks lol but I did buy some over the bump leggings from new look they are super comfy!!

NorfolkBird · 04/04/2022 11:37

@Nikki037297 Can they test the heart with NIPT sorry I don't know much yet

Nikki037297 · 04/04/2022 12:08

No I don’t think so. I found out through a very detailed scan carried out at 16 weeks

mycat22 · 05/04/2022 16:41

Hi all,

I have been watching this thread for a bit and finally daring to join!!

A bit about me, 2 precious miscarriages and no successful pregnancy yet (hence my apprehension to join!)

12+5 today - had my dating scan last week and all looking good with a due date of 13th Oct given. Sonographer couldn't get the measurement for NT so have ended up getting Harmony NIPT today - BMI high at 30 so fingers crossed the result comes back ok! (I read there can be less fetal DNA in blood if you have a high BMI but the woman at the clinic said that's not true 😵‍💫)

Would love to join the Facebook group too if possible?

Hope everyone is getting on ok!

bluebeau · 05/04/2022 16:55

Hello, can a man join this thread ?

Today Mrs Beau and I had our 12 week scan on baby number 2 ! All seemed ok, saw heartbeat which was nice.. baby was well comfy and didn't to pose for a picture at all but the lady doing the scan managed to get him/her to play ball.

We told our daughter yesterday she was going to be a big sister but she only seemed fussed about the book we got her from wonderbly about being a new big sister. She still wants us to go and ''buy a baby'' but hopefully once mommys belly gets a big bigger she will understand he/she is in mommys tummy.

Daughter will be 3 in June and baby is due 16th October so hopefully there wont be too much of a nursery crossover in paying for both !

@NorfolkBird

Hi ladies just a update my bloods came back with 1 in 5 chance with DS she told me about the NIPT test so ill be having that on Wednesday. Feeling mixed emotions atm Hmm
I don't know a huge amount re the NT test but I understand it combines bloods and high Nuchal thickness to give a chance factor, I've known/heard it be as high as 1/2. I would suggest if the Nuchal thickness was 11mm, that's the bulk of you getting a high chance result, i.e. bloods may be fine.

In terms of NIPT, I think it only looks at Trisonomies. I'll harp on about Dr Fred Ushakov again here as he looked at all 4 chambers of our baby's heart and the blood vessels etc. it's just about having the expertise / equipment to do so. I don't know anyone else, but he works at UCLH in Euston so I'd ask for a referral to him on the NHS (so you obviously wouldn't have to pay). My understanding is he's the best in the UK but you may be able to find someone nearer to you with similar experience / expertise, I just haven't found anyone myself. I can send you pics / details of the report he wrote on me for info if you need it. Added a snip re comments on heart (at 12+5)

HRHXO · 06/04/2022 11:22

Hi all, hope everyone is doing okay, the first trimester has been a struggle for so many of us.

I had my 12 week scan yesterday and blood test for downs/edwards/pataus. First time I've ever not panicked or cried or pulled away where needles are involved! The scan went well thankfully although baby wasn't moving around like I'd hoped!

The NT measurement was 1.9mm I don't really know if this is good or bad but the sonographer said it was within normal range? Does anyone know how long it takes for the blood results to come back? X

Lap91 · 06/04/2022 11:39

@Samthenanny everytime I click on just get taken to my news feed :( is there another way to join?

@HRHXO congrats on the 12 weeks scan! My blood results were available on the app (Badgernotes but not sure if all trusts use this) within about 5 days and then I got a letter in the post yesterday, 2 weeks after my scan.

Vie8126 · 06/04/2022 11:49

@Samthenanny I have the same issues with the Facebook group have tried all! Is there another way to join?

Samthenanny · 06/04/2022 12:43

@Lap91 @Vie8126 sorry, try again and if that doesn’t work we’ll try another way

fb.me/g/2X6mX98cU/7tVWkbd5

Dreams2727 · 06/04/2022 13:54

@HRHXO not sure how long bloods take but 1.9mm is totally normal. Only 3.5mm+ is cause for concern Smile

Maternitynamechange · 06/04/2022 14:38

Hello. Late to the party but can I join please? I’ve got two little girls already and I’m 12 weeks pregnant with our 3rd baby. Just got the NIPT back and we’re having another little girl. Smile

Lap91 · 06/04/2022 16:25

Thanks @Samthenanny but still the same problem for me :(

Mamamoo1234 · 06/04/2022 17:12

Hi,
Just reposting the due date list as I’ve had my 12 week scan and my date was a day off. Joining the girls at the 22nd October now. Although I’ve been told I’ll need a c-section at 39 weeks, as both my previous births have been a little difficult.
