@NorfolkBird I hope you are okay I also don't know about the fluid, what's the plan for your care? Sending love.

Had my scan Monday I was 11wk 5 so completely different to my private scan all seems to be changing constantly! I go ahead to Fetal Medicine for nuchal scan next week and hopefully can pin down an exact edd!
So have they moved your 12 week scan to next week is that what you mean ?

NorfolkBird · 30/03/2022 08:44

Tomorrow I'm seeing fetal medicine I've got 2 have aload of tests even taking a sample from my placenta. I'm coping but my partner isn't hes not gone 2 work today. I don't know whats going 2 happen with us

NorfolkBird · 30/03/2022 08:47

@thunderonlyhappenswhenits I asked for the screening test there's alot of fluid there

thunderonlyhappenswhenits · 30/03/2022 08:53

@NorfolkBird sorry you're going through this, and sorry to seem vague but I don't know much about the process. I hope you get some positive news from the tests.
It's such a scary time

ItWillBeFridaySoon · 30/03/2022 08:59

@NorfolkBird
Sorry to hear you have this worry. Hopefully the doctors will be able to explain more to you. Thinking of you both. We're all hear if you need to talk or just want some distraction Thanks

NorfolkBird · 30/03/2022 09:03

@thunderonlyhappenswhenits I'm still learning too there's alot to take in. I hope you're scan goes well & u don't have to go through this

Greedy7 · 30/03/2022 09:26

Hi everyone! Hope you're all okay. Loving the scan photos. I'm 12 weeks today. I have my scan on Friday 1st April of all days. My mum is coming with me as the baby's dad isn't handling everything to well. I've already had one scan due to a bad bleed but baby was absolutely fine. My symptoms have eased quite a lot now the placenta has taken on some of the work. Trying to stay positive. I'm sure I didn't feel this anxious with my daughter but that was 7 years ago and I was a lot younger then xx

Lap91 · 30/03/2022 10:27

@xMari the toothbrushing thing started happening to me too a couple of weeks ago (13+5 now) although it was making me gag a lot rather than be sick. The best thing I've found is to keep my chin slightly tipped down as anything touching the back of my tongue seems to set me off.. horrible!

LindosDreams14 · 30/03/2022 11:45

Hello all, thank you for your reassuring words. Unfortunately the pregnancy wasn't meant to be (again). At 42 I've decided that enough is enough and we're not going to try again. I have to be realistic now, especially with the stats saying I have a 50/50 chance of a successful pregnancy.
In a weird way, I feel like a weight has been lifted as I feel like we can get on with our lives now instead of putting plans on hold 'just in case' we get pregnant.
We have a 5 year old boy and although we would've loved a sibling for him, we just need to concentrate on him now. He has the good life with lots of people around him. I just hope that's enough for him growing up.
Sorry if this isn't the best forum for this message.
Wishing you all the best with your pregnancies and your October babies 💜💜💜

@thunderonlyhappenswhenits so I'm not sure of my dates as I have a 7 month old and my periods have been all over the shop, I can hazard a rough guess which means when I was booked for my standard nuchal/dating scan I could have potentially been 13wks 6days. When I saw midwife Friday she said that wasn't good enough (I'm 41) and got a scan on Monday just gone. She said that my screening would all be done at that scan however when I got there they said they cannot do it there as are not fetal medicine but they are scanning purely as a dating scan. Everything looked OK they said and they gave me a different set of dates to a private scan I have had and to what I think my dates are so I'll be 13wks 3days according to this nhs scan when I have nuchal at fetal medicine they were still not sure if that would be OK so said they would refer to on to fetal medicine and if they thought it needed to be bought forward they would call me. So far no call so assuming I'm all good for next week and will wait to see what they date the pregnancy at and what edd they give as that will be the one written in my notes as the edd box is currently blank!

thunderonlyhappenswhenits · 30/03/2022 16:48

My scan has been cancelled tomorrow until Sunday, it's really upset me what with all the anxiety I've been struggling with. I've booked a private one for tomorrow instead, might make me ott but don't think I can go another 4 days

xMari · 30/03/2022 17:46

@Lap91 - I’ll have to try keeping my head tilted then, thank you. I’ve tried brushing my teeth at different times but still makes me vomit. I hope that’s yours eases up now that you’re further along!

@LindosDreams14 - I’m so sorry to hear! I know that finding peace with the idea of not trying again was probably a hard one to make. Sending you strength right now!

Vie8126 · 30/03/2022 19:23

@thunderonlyhappenswhenits completely understandable we spend so long hyping up to one date ofc it's nerve wracking and disappointing when it changes, fingers crossed for you scan let us know how it goes

PoopMaster · 30/03/2022 20:01

@LindosDreams14 So sorry for your loss Thanks It's heartbreaking

@NorfolkBird I am also having extra screening as our 12 week scan (and the 10 week private scan) showed too much fluid at the back of baby's neck. That with my age (38) makes us high risk unfortunately. It's been a horrible few days worrying, I'm sending you and your DP big hugs and will have fingers crossed for you. I've just had a NIPT test and have an amnio booked in case the results need confirming.

DH and I have been talking about what we'd do about various results, it's making it hard for both of us to focus on work and other things. I'm starting to show but can't bear to be congratulated now so just want to hide away until we know what's going on.

thunderonlyhappenswhenits · 30/03/2022 20:18

@LindosDreams14 Sorry to see such heartbreaking news. Take care of yourself

NorfolkBird · 30/03/2022 20:19

@PoopMaster Thanks for keeping us in you're thoughts im back at the hospital tomorrow so ill update tomorrow afternoon. I'm trying to be brave!

NorfolkBird · 30/03/2022 20:23

Heres the scan pic u can see all the excess fluid baby was so still while having the scan was awful to watch

Due October 2022 thread #2 ... the first trimester continues!
Greedy7 · 31/03/2022 10:07

Hi again, has anyone been told they would have to have growth scans? If so, when do these happen? My daughter was only 5lb 2 when she was born, I was told she would be over 7lbs. So because of this the risk assessment has said I have to have growth scans x

thunderonlyhappenswhenits · 31/03/2022 10:09

@NorfolkBird thinking of you today ❤️

NorfolkBird · 31/03/2022 10:51

@thunderonlyhappenswhenits Thank u so much means alot 💓

PoopMaster · 31/03/2022 11:44

@Greedy7 I have growth scans booked as my DD1 was 6 pounds at birth, despite DD2 being 7lb 8oz. I was also told for my pregnancy last year to start taking 150mg aspirin from 12 weeks because of the low birth weight risk, perhaps check with your midwife (it wasn't mentioned this time which is a bit confusing, might be because I'm already taking it anyway but I'd still check).

Don't have my notes with me but I think my growth scans are at 30/32/34/36 weeks.

HermioneGr · 31/03/2022 13:01

@Greedy7 I am having extra scans because my daughter was born 6lbs9oz after being predicted to be around 9lbs lol. Honestly, all they did was measure me with a tape measure - utterly useless Imo. I just had a bigger bump than baby lol. She was born 41+6 and because she was on 1.5 centile at birth, future pregnancies will have additional monitoring. I'm happy with this xx

HRHXO · 31/03/2022 13:08

Hi everyone, I've not been very active on here but have been more so on the Facebook group. Mainly because I was feeling so sick that I avoiding reading on here because it made me feel more sick somehow! Anyway my nausea has eased off slightly and I am feeling sick less frequently so I'm ready to get back involved. I'm going to scroll back and catch up as I feel like I've missed loads.

In case you're not in the Facebook group a quick update from me is that I'm 11+5 today and have my 12 week scan and bloods for Downs/Edwards/Pataus next Tuesday when I'll be 12+3. Had an early scan at 8+1 and all was well so hoping it still is!

NorfolkBird · 31/03/2022 14:09

Back from scan they didn't get my bloods back yet but he said its very high risk as the measurements then he said there's only a 2% for it happening again. Just going to let nature do its job im not having the invasive test just bloods & scan will be back there in 3 wks

Jfb23 · 31/03/2022 16:01

@Greedy7 yes I'll be having growth scans and as @PoopMaster says you might need to ask whether you should be taking aspirin from 12weeks because I've been put on it too. I've not been told when my extra scans will be but I have a telephone consultant appointment on 21st April at 13+4 so I'll probably find out then.

@NorfolkBird I hope you get some answers at your next appointment. It must be such a worrying time for you
