@Whatelsecouldibecalled you're doing amazing with everything on your plate! It's so tough to be a toddler parent and pregnant - let alone without your partner there to support you. I hope you've got people who are looking out for you and helping you out?

Today I got the doctor set out that DD had for Christmas and can confirm it is a great game for getting some rest in 🥲 I lay down for a blissful hour while she did checks on me and asked "you ok mama?" Feeling like the worst Mom ever but we've got to do what we've got to do.

Side note- wondering if my iron levels are low because I'm really tired and shamefully in bed by 8pm every day still. Think my ferritin level was 26, is anyone more clued up on this than I am?

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 12/03/2022 20:33

Thanks. Just needed to vent tonight I think.

I have very little support elsewhere so just finding it a bit tough at the minute. My friends are great but they can't exactly move in and help raise a toddler!

I think my DS is realising Daddy is away too. I keep saying oh daddy is at work and we have FaceTimed when we can but I think he is twigging on and starting to miss him. He has been very heavy on the dummy last few days despite me trying only having it for sleeps but right now I have bigger things to worry about. As soon as he takes it out I whisk it away so he doesn't realise

Isonthecase · 12/03/2022 20:42

@Whatelsecouldibecalled was it you whose husband was deployed? They've usually got good networks on the pads estates, worth asking around if there's someone who coordinates it. Life feels a lot easier when you have someone else around who gets it.

annlee3817 · 12/03/2022 20:45

Sorry @Whatelsecouldibecalled really hope he's home soon

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 12/03/2022 20:52

@Isonthecase thanks. We don't live in base. Or near it.

Hopefully might at least get a date for when he comes home soon!

Isonthecase · 12/03/2022 21:51

@Whatelsecouldibecalled Yeah, it's a shame it's set up so the support is all there. Afraid there isn't really a solution then, it's just a slog and carries on being one until they get out and suddenly parenting with two of you feels so so easy compared!

dkedm15 · 13/03/2022 08:06

@Goodgoodthings my iron stores were 21 and was told that in pregnancy they should be around 30 so I was prescribed some iron tablets (but then the midwives I’ve seen after haven’t been overly concerned about it being 21), tbh I’ve not really noticed a huge difference having these iron tablets. How’s your B12? Mine is absolutely shocking so I’m on injections for that - it could be your B12 wiping you out. Really hope it eases for you soon, you’re doing amazing xx

Celyn22 · 13/03/2022 14:29

@Goodgoodthings did you have a b12 test with the NHS or privately? I got my FBC test results yesterday and it doesn’t show half the stuff I was expecting and hoping to see. Iron levels are really good but I’ve been wondering about b12 as I’ve been vegetarian for 10 years till a week ago when I started eating fish!

I’m 15+5 and feeling so tired and achy again! I had a few days of energy but the past 2 days I’ve just sat around feeling lazy and eating. Trying not to judge myself but I know I should be exercising more. The weather here in west wales has been pretty wet and windy so that’s hasn't helped!

My nipples are so itchy in the evenings too!!

Sending you all soothing cuddles and back rubs :)

dkedm15 · 13/03/2022 14:49

@Celyn22 it was done at my bloods during my booking appointment lovely so all NHS, I haven’t seen any of my results as a print out, just on screen. The community midwife rang me when they came back and because they were so low I qualified for injections not tablets - it was only when I went in for my first injection and was told at the hospital my B12 was 50 when min should be 150 and they were surprised I was able to walk in 😳 I’ve just always been tired haha didn’t know any different! I’m also veggie and had lost ~12 stone before getting pregnant so they think it’s a mix of that and that I don’t store it well so they reck I’ll be on injections for life now, woo. At my 3rd appointment was when the ferritin was picked up so that wasn’t as big of a deal.

Pleeeeease do not feel bad having a few days ‘off’ listening to your body, I’m really sorry you’re feeling so tired and achey again (and the nips thing sounds so irritating!!) - make sure you take as much time as you need sofa bound and make sure you’re being waited on hand and foot xx

Celyn22 · 13/03/2022 15:41

@dkedm15 thanks for your reply and sharing your experience. Do you remember the name for b12 on your report? I think it’s usually cobalin but that isn’t on mine... i’m in Wales so I think there are a few differences with NHS tests in different places. Where are you?

The test results were on the screen but I asked the midwife to print me a copy so I could do a bit more research in my own time!

Did you notice a difference to your energy levels after the injection? And have you been supplementing b12 previously? Glad you’re getting what you need now!

I’m grateful I don’t have a lot of responsibilities right now so I am able to indulge in loafing out when I need to. I just feel I should be doing more a lot of the time especially when there’s noisy diggers outside and everyone around me working hard. Life on a farm! Trying to surrender to my body’s processes.

mol2mum · 13/03/2022 18:16

Is anyone else feeling not at all pregnant anymore? I'm 13+5 weeks and I feel completely normalConfused I'm hoping it's just the second trimester good feeling that everyone talks about but I can't help but worry!

Carebear99 · 13/03/2022 18:51

@mol2mum same. I have no symptoms and feel normal. Some days I get sure sore boobs but not very often, I'm symptomless really

mol2mum · 13/03/2022 18:59

@Carebear99 glad I'm not the only one! It's concerning though isn't it. I've been doing some googling (risky I know lol) but it's all pretty reassuring, saying that the placenta will have taken over caring for the baby so hopefully that's what it is and we just get a break for a whileGrin

TotoAnnihiliation · 13/03/2022 19:29

@dkedm15 I've been on b12 injections for years now. I have them every 12 weeks, from week 10, I can feel them wearing off. I have to take vitamin D and folic acid to make three b12 work properly. I would ask you gp about being prescribed the cofactors.

A couple of days ago, I felt a little movement from the baby. I desperately waiting to feel it again. I know 12 weeks is early to feel it but it was unmistakable!

I went out for dinner today and ate normal food. It feels like a huge achievement.

I have sore nipples, I was drying myself after the shower and it felt like I had taken a cheese grater to my nips. I also have sweaty boobs. So attractive.

Celyn22 · 13/03/2022 20:02

@TotoAnnihiliation I’m secretly glad I’m not the only one with nipple issues! ;)

Thanks for sharing your experiences with b12 on here. I’ll ask my midwife to be tested as I think it’s quite important. I’ve noticed an increase in struggling to recall words and remember things - all of which I know is a symptom of b12 deficiency, but I still haven’t been tested. I’ve been supplementing but I heard recently the veggie b12 supplement is the wrong type of b12 for the body to absorb. It’ll be good to get this checked!

Carebear99 · 14/03/2022 01:00

@mol2mum I was stressing out when my symptoms went. I did a post on here, goggled it and have been for private scans...all OK so far, but you can't help worrying. I worry everyday

madeleine85 · 14/03/2022 02:26

@mol2mum that’s very normal. I’ve been on/off worrying since week 12-13 when I started to feel human again. I’m almost 16 weeks and I’m beginning to feel movement, but it’s very random and I can go days with nothing. I’m basically on the countdown till week 25 when they can survive if they come early (usually) then I’ll relax. Until I find something else to worry about 😂

surprised12 · 14/03/2022 08:03

Morning everyone!!
Had such a busy weekend so only just managing to post.

Had my 16 week midwife appointment on Friday, all went well and heard the baby's heartbeat 💓

We also had our gender scan on Saturday and found out we are having a little boy! Thorough checks of his anatomy and all looks perfect. Strange how much they can see from a scan!

Hope everyone had a good weekend- another week closer to our babies 👶🏼

Thank you @GlitteryGreen and @Peauela for the lovely words about my scan!

And @Whatelsecouldibecalled and @Bellebun22: Sorry for the delay, but what gorgeous scans! I’m terrible at guessing though so I’m not even going to try. What have most people been guessing for you guys? What do you think?

@Goodgoodthings, good luck on the job! Fingers crossed for ya

Congrats @surprised12!!

guys, quick aside here since I know a bunch of us are struggling with that in-between stage of not being big enough for maternity yet still really uncomfortable in our pre-pregnancy clothes. I got the bellaband and it is a DREAM—a little pricey but so worth it. In case you're unfamiliar, it's a belly band but not in the support-the-belly kind of way. It's more just to help with the pants transitions in all stages of pregnancy (and after pregnancy too).
It's this band of stretchy fabric that goes over the top of your pants and over your belly if you want it to (you can fold it down if you don't want it to go up over your belly). The beauty of it is that you can wear your pre-pregnancy pants unbuttoned and unzipped and the band hides that and smooths it out so that no one knows. It just looks like you have a long tank top on or something. Another bonus is that you can also wear it with too-big maternity pants and it'll hold them up so you can wear them even though your belly isn't big enough yet.
Anyway, it's super comfortable and I'm so happy to not be in lounge pants for like the first time this month haha

Hey @IzzyLeigh ☺️
No one has a clue ahaha we do find out in just under two weeks. We would love a girl. I’ve checked nub theory and other scans online but I think you’ll naturally see what you want if you don’t know exactly what you’re looking for

TotoAnnihiliation · 14/03/2022 13:30

@Bellebun22 I'm desperate to find out what I'm having too. I've posted my picture on a couple of nub theory Facebook pages with no joy. No one replies to me - so rude 🤣

Congratulations on your little boy @surprised12

ShiningStarz · 14/03/2022 13:49

@surprised12 wonderful news! Lovely scan pics. I have my 16 week scan in 3 weeks. Were they able to do pretty much the full anomaly 20 week scan at 16 weeks?

Bellebun22 · 14/03/2022 14:35

@TotoAnnihiliation ahahaha don’t worry story of my life. When do you find out?
Do you have a preference or not too bothered? ☺️

That's genius! Might get one so I don't have to fork out on loads of clothes!
