@turniptracker same here - think it's a round of growth pains. I'm also getting the rib/ back pain when I sit or stand too long. Just lay down after an evening at the dining table and the relief is heavenly...

EarlGreywithLemon · 15/02/2022 23:50

@Lostintranslatio my trust also gives mini glucose tests to all women at 28 weeks. It’s a bit easier than the full test - you drink Lucozade tablets dissolved in water at home and have a blood test at the hospital. I did it in the last pregnancy and doing it again in a few weeks.

GrowBabyGrow · 16/02/2022 00:23

Thank you everyone for the push to ring back and go in re reduced movement. They were really lovely and did check for the heartbeat. Took a bit of time to find her which I think was the most heartwrenching minute of my life so far but they did and her little heart was beating away. So relieved I burst into tears!

Lostintranslatio · 16/02/2022 05:42

@GrowBabyGrow delighted for you!!! ❤️

@EarlGreywithLemon that doesn't sound so scary then! I wonder if it's done in hospital, as my pg is midwife led and going to hospital only for scans.

PleaseSendNoodles · 16/02/2022 06:17

@GrowBabyGrow aww 💕 I can only imagine the relief!

PeeAche · 16/02/2022 09:07

Ladies, what the fudge is this?? Thread 8!? 🤯

Sorry I've been quiet. It must have been really rubbish round here without me! 😋

So, anyone else got a low lying placenta? In my scan, they mentioned that my placenta was covering my cervix but I didn't think much of it. Then I got summoned by a consultant. And let me tell you, that was a rollercoaster:

  1. "I don't need to see you anymore about your weight as everything is going fine (but I won't sign you off for MLU so think again, PeeAche)"

Followed by...

  1. "But oh no. I do want to see you again. Your placenta is totally eclipsing your cervix. It'll probably move by itself so no big deal. But if it doesn't move... it's a huge deal."

Then she told me no more sex. I told her my husband wouldn't believe this and I need a doctor's note. She didn't laugh.

(I find my sense of humour doesn't go down all that well in medical settings.)

Anyway, I can now add "no shagging" to the list of fun things I'm not allowed to do anymore, along with gin and hot tubs and second hand smoking.

These are the things that used to define me. Without them, I'm just a slightly chubby woman that cuts her own hair and sometimes talks about cats.

As an act of rebellion I ate an entire packet of wild smoked salmon on Monday. ✌️

PeeAche · 16/02/2022 09:08

@GrowBabyGrow I'm just catching up on your movement drama. My god, I'd be terrified! I'm so glad you got the once over. ❤️

Prema112 · 16/02/2022 09:16

@GrowBabyGrow I'm so glad you got checked, what a terrifying moment that must have been when they didn't find her heartbeat right away 💗 What a relief she is ok! Is she moving more now? My little guy had a couple of really quiet days, I think I should have gone in, but yesterday he pretty much didn't stop moving. They are such strange little beings!

Hi @PeeAche! Lol about your dr note for your husband 😂 I had a dream I forgot I was pregnant and drunk half a bottle of wine, it was fun and then terrifying 😂

pregnancydiaries · 16/02/2022 09:40

Oh @PeeAche I've definitely missed you and your tales. Don't leave us again.

Great news @GrowBabyGrow 💗💗

EarlGreywithLemon · 16/02/2022 09:52

@PeeAche one of my closest friends had complete placenta praevia (I.e. completely covering her cervix- and one of the worst cases her doctors had seen). Hers didn’t move so she was not allowed sex or heavy lifting, and was also warned to be on the look out for any bleeding and head to the hospital right away. BUT she had no bleeds and carried her daughter successfully to her C section date. Her daughter is now a lovely healthy toddler. So on the off chance that it doesn’t move they’ll look after you well and all will be fine.
In her second pregnancy she also had a low lying placenta, but this time it did move. I think that’s the most likely scenario so hold on to that thought!

Lostintranslatio · 16/02/2022 10:06

@PeeAche the Dr note for your husband made me lol 😂😂😂😂😂😂

My baby still very quiet. I can feel her every now and again but very faint. I read they can move very little when they go through a growth spurt, and I know we are going through one as I have barely energy to function since Monday 😵 My scan is tomorr and I really hope I get good news. Feeling pretty off atm.

BunBun221 · 16/02/2022 10:29

@Lostintranslatio I had my scan a week ago I'm now 21+2) and I still haven't felt anything definitively like a kick or anything I'm even 100% sure is a baby movement! Baby was completely happy and healthy at the scan so I'm being careful not to get myself too worried based on everyone else's comments about movements.

JAR1981 · 16/02/2022 10:33

Morning ladies. Bit of drama here after my private scan yesterday. The good news is the baby is looking great. Good growth, all measurements on track and good blood flow across the placenta, arteries to the baby etc. They were very wiggly and we got some lovely views of their little face in 4D.

The terrifying news is that I got my cervical length checked again and it was 33mm. In normal circumstances this is fine (38mm is average but they need it over 25mm at 24 weeks) however at my 20 week hospital scan it was recorded at 60mm. So there’s two scenarios - either the first measurement at the hospital was wrong (tbh I was a bit suspicious of it as when the sonographer took the measurement I could literally see nothing on screen where she placed the cursor and also my consultant said after ‘wow’ and that he never sees one that long) OR it was correct, but has now shortened by almost 50% which puts me at strong risk of premature labour.

Cue 24 hours of panic, crying, over-Googling etc. I’ve let my midwife know and she’s trying to get in touch with my consultant to see what they want to do.

Not really sure why I’m posting all this other than to say please keep me in your thoughts as I hope and pray the little one stays put for a good couple of months more yet.

Lostintranslatio · 16/02/2022 10:56

@JAR1981 I'm very sorry about your scan. To me 60mm sounds very odd cervix measure, but better be sure and get checked by the consultant. Did they measure internally or in the abdominal scan?

@BunBun221 thanks a million! I'm delighted your LO is doing great ❤️ I know it is early (21weeks today) and I'm trying to keep my mind at ease but I guess scan anxiety isn't helping either 😂

PeeAche · 16/02/2022 11:05

It's so good to be back. And I love it when you stroke my ego.

@JAR1981 oh babezzz, chill. Breathe. The hospital almost certainly got it wrong the first time. Let's be honest here, none of us are sonographers and we don't mean to criticise, but they do seem pretty hit and miss amirite?

Frankly, if they don't push on my abdomen hard enough to make my eyes pop, I start to worry. They also go way to quiet after they announce they are checking something important.

"Just checking the spine now"... then 5 minutes of just a clock ticking. I know that's just because they're concentrating. But I feel like perhaps they should have an "everything is okay" LED that blinks every few seconds. You know, like a smoke alarm.

Anyway, I digress. They make mistakes all the time. I've just googled it myself and it sounds highly unlikely that your cervical length has halved in a few weeks.

Sorry I called you babezzz. I just can't help myself sometimes.

@EarlGreywithLemon I really need this placenta to wriggle on out the way. The doctor said I'll be on bed rest from 36 weeks if it doesn't. 🤢

PeeAche · 16/02/2022 11:06

@pregnancydiaries I have so missed you too! 😘

Prema112 · 16/02/2022 11:50

@JAR1981 Oh love I'm so sorry to hear you've had worrying news, how utterly frustrating that they don't know if they got it right the first time?! Surely that's quite an important thing to throughly check 🙄 I hope you see the consultant ASAP anyway and they have answers for you. The good news is if they know there is a risk of premature labour there's lots they can do to try to delay it so if there is a problem at least they know. Thinking of you, let us know xx

Octoblockisadick · 16/02/2022 12:31

@PeeAche I had a low lying placenta in my last pregnancy, honestly it wasn't a big deal. No sex and no flying but I think everything else was OK. Most move but mine didn't so I had an elective section at 38 weeks. Honestly the elective section was fine, and it likely won't come to that. I wouldn't worry too much, there's nothing you can do either way really. Maybe have an idea for your birth preferences in case of natural delivery and section so you know your options and what you want either way. You'll be fine!

@JAR1981 hopefully the first measurement was wrong, it does sound very big. Hopefully your consultant gets back to you soon and it's all OK.

PeeAche · 16/02/2022 13:38

Guys, is anybody here considering dabbling in elimination communication? It's just been on the radio. I've been reading up on it a lot lately and I think I'd like to try it. Alongside cloth nappies. My MIL thinks I'm insane. 😩

Vimto1991 · 16/02/2022 13:40

If I was told no sex it wouldn’t change anything. 😂🙈 I’m too scared I’ll do damage, we attempted once and I panicked out of to, successfully had sex once more. That’s once in like five months. Poor DH. 😂 I have sex dreams a lot and wake up to painful, cramping orgasms, so I’m too scared to have sex. 😬😬

pregnancydiaries · 16/02/2022 14:17

@Vimto1991 once is more than in this household....😂 god these poor men.

Vimto1991 · 16/02/2022 14:57

@pregnancydiaries makes me happy atleast I’m not alone!! I don’t even have the drive to be fair and DH is luckily understanding. :)

Roxystar23 · 16/02/2022 15:08

@Vimto1991 - Same!! Although it’s my partner that seems to have the fear that he will hurt the baby. I’m definitely with you on the sex dreams. I tell my partner when I wake up and he just laughs and says “well someone is frustrated” - why, yes, yes I am!!

Vimto1991 · 16/02/2022 15:12

@Roxystar23 I was hoping it was a pregnancy thing as I never used to get them!! 😂🙈 they’re so random. It’s just the pain after is so not worth it!!

pregnancydiaries · 16/02/2022 15:14

@Vimto1991 fortunately a very understanding partner at this end too! We have spoken about it the past couple of weeks but now I'm so scared it's been too long that my body wouldn't be use to it...😂
