@CoalCraft could you email pals and make sure you have your concerns in writing? Usually makes them pay a bit more attention.

I'm with you all on the headaches, such a pain!

ToCaden · 10/03/2022 12:24

@coalcraft haha. I'm in the same position, just opposite genders. For some reason I'm convinced it's a boy, but I want it to be a girl purely so I can use the girl name I love.

PopGoesBang · 10/03/2022 16:42

2 weeks to go until the 20 week scan here. We're finding out the gender this time, neither of us did before but somehow it feels right to, plus dd really wants to know if she's having a little brother or sister. I'm probably leaning towards a girl purely because I've done that before, but dp has a ds, so has experience there.

I think I might have an anterior placenta again, I can feel some muffled movements but nothing I've been certain on. Was the same with dd. I guess I'll find that out at the 20 week scan too.

Anyone else find some nights it impossible to get comfy? I'm a front sleeper and trying to stop that now, even with a pregnancy pillow and banning the dog from the bedroom I'm struggling to find a comfy position. Hoping a it's just a phase!
Just as I'm hoping the dreams where the plants and animals all talk to each other and it's apparently seen as perfectly normal in dreamworld, is just a phase too.

SantiagoSister · 10/03/2022 17:09

@PopGoesBang that’ll be lovely for you to find out the gender in a couple of weeks 🥰 my 20 week scan is next week, our consultant thinks he’s 90% certain we’re having a boy from our 12 week scan so it’ll be nice to double check again next week. I am dreading the scan though as it’s where issues were picked up last time, just wishing everything to go well this time. I’m with you on the anterior placenta I think, I had posterior last time and I felt a lot of movement from about 17 weeks, obvious kicks etc. This time, only very muffled movements as you say, and I’m 19 weeks now. I guess we’ll both find out for sure soon! I like sleeping on my front too, I’ve found a compromise that’s working at the moment where I’m semi on my front, but with one leg bent up near my bump which takes the weight of my body, rather than squashing my belly into the mattress if you know what I mean? Not sure how long it’ll work for, but could be something you could try if you haven’t already. I’ve been having surreal dreams since conception too, with no sign of them slowing down, so bizarre isn’t it 😂

ToCaden · 10/03/2022 17:33

@popgoesbang @santiagosister the dreams are wild aren't they? I'm used to vivid but controlled dreams being a lucid dreamer, but these are dreams on speed and rocket fuel. I can't keep up with them.

11 days to my 20 week scan. Some of us are getting close and it's very exciting. I love seeing people's progress on here and the 20 week scan feels like another big milestone.

Baby was dancing a jig every hour of the weekend to Monday then movement dropped to almost nothing. Telling myself it's because they're still pretty tiny so easy to chill out in a place I can't feel them as easy. I am looking forward to seeing them again in the scan.

ToCaden · 10/03/2022 17:41

Question guys. Belly bands. Are any of you guys planning on getting one / already got one. Or are you waiting to see if the aches get bad before getting one.

Unsure as to whether it's something I need to get, or whether people are able to remain safely active and pain free without one?

SantiagoSister · 10/03/2022 17:53

@ToCaden that’s the perfect description for them, on speed and rocket fuel 😂 they really can be wild, amazing what the hormones do to our brains isn’t it. Good luck for your scan coming up soon 😊 it’s lovely to see everyone’s progress as you say, and the 20 week scans are a big milestone for everyone to get to. Great you’ve been feeling so much movement already, I’m struggling to feel much but when I do, it’s lovely. But you’re right, they’re still so small at this stage and very likely to have just moved to another position you can’t feel as well. No experience with belly bands I’m afraid but I’ll be intrigued to hear others experiences.

PopGoesBang · 10/03/2022 18:10

@SantiagoSister fingers firmly crossed the scan is reassuring this time and you can relax slightly after it. Not sure pregnancy is ever fully relaxing, especially when you've had bad experiences previously. But hopefully some reassurance along the way goes someway to help.
Good idea with the half tummy sleep. I might give that a go.
Glad both you and @ToCaden are having the wild dreams too! I never normally remember dreams, these seem totally out there and I'm still not remembering the whole thing which makes it all seem a bit more trippy.

SantiagoSister · 10/03/2022 18:25

@PopGoesBang thank you 🤞🏼 I agree that I don’t feel it’ll ever be fully relaxing due to lay experience, but some reassurance at my scan next week would go a long way to help! Wishing you lots of luck for your scan coming up too. Good luck with the half-front sleeping, hope you find it comfortable.

SantiagoSister · 10/03/2022 18:26

*past experience

CoalCraft · 10/03/2022 21:27

I've always had very vivid and often bizarre dreams and not sure it's been more the case since getting pregnant, though the content of the dreams has definitely changed. Had a horrible one last night. Will spare you all the details but it wasn't good news for me or baby Sad Luckily though they don't really distress me once I've woken up had that "yup, that was just a dream" moment.

No idea about belly bands! Are they like a bra for the bump?

PopGoesBang · 11/03/2022 04:24

@ToCaden I think on the whole belly bands are used more generally if you have spd/pelvic pain or had back issues before pregnancy.
There are probably ones you can get for more general support, but in my experience not something you need unless advised. I guess if a very large bump there may be some support/relief from one too.
Worth asking your midwife next time you have an appt. They may have a very different view on them and things may well have changed since I my last pregnancy.

ToCaden · 11/03/2022 07:47

Thanks for the advice @popgoesbang @coalcraft bra for the bump is actually a pretty accurate description. It's something I've been told I'd need in order to prevent injury and keep active as bump grows without having to stop due to back pain, but the person that told me that isn't an expert so will check with midwife. They made it sound like it was something all pregnant people needed which confused me.

This is my first time around so I'm easily confused by all this pregnancy stuff I didn't think of before.

PopGoesBang · 11/03/2022 08:11

@ToCaden their advice doesn't sound wrong wrong. I'm just not aware of it being an every day item for pregnancy.
I used to work in a physio clinic and we'd have ladies come in with spd, back pain etc and then they would have one fitted if it was felt it was needed. I'm sure a ladies health physio would do the same. If back issues are something you've had prior to pregnancy you may well find one helps.
Everyone's journey is different, certainly no harm in asking - let me know what they say. It's always interesting to hear.

netflixandnochill · 11/03/2022 08:53

I’d be interested in belly band recommendations as I’m looking into anything to make me feel more supported.

Had my 16 week midwife appointment yesterday. It was an experience. She told me she’d been a midwife for a month, which I didn’t find reassuring at all. She also asked why they didn’t take bloods for the combined test (they refused because I’d had the harmony, I was really upset by it) and was shocked at the decision saying she’d never heard of them doing that…

Told me that my GP should refer me for PGP physio (fine) and if they hadn’t, let the midwife know at 24 weeks (not fine - 8 weeks more pain!). GP offered me a CALL on the 29th March 😂 honestly. I’ve had it for four weeks now and was running late for a train yesterday so attempted a light jog and felt like I was going to break in half 😬 Really want to be able walk/exercise comfortably so I can stay active as possible during this pregnancy.

I’m in South West London and currently under Kingston’s care but I’m really tempted to move to St. George’s. Does anyone have any experience of either? GP suggested referring me to St George’s physio when I pushed back on waiting almost three weeks for a call.

Feeling totally inexperienced about what this experience is supposed to be like and my sisters keep telling me to change trusts. I don’t think the care is horrendous but I have no idea what’s normal.

Unknown6 · 11/03/2022 09:46

I have my 20 week scan on Wednesday...I'm feeling nervous especially after having had a cvs after 12 week scan...I also have not felt anything that I know is the baby yet, my midwife says you may not feel anything until 25 weeks....but I know most have felt by now.

netflixandnochill · 11/03/2022 10:17

@Unknown6 I haven’t felt anything yet and I’m trying to be realistic that a lot of people don’t until 20+ weeks. Personally, I’ve told myself not to worry about anything until at least 23 weeks. Just for peace of mind. I’m sure your scan will go really well and Wednesday is just around the corner!

Cakecakecheese · 11/03/2022 10:25

I haven't felt anything but I know from a private scan that I have an anterior placenta so I might not feel much for a while.

Unknown6 · 11/03/2022 12:08

@Cakecakecheese, what is an Anterior placenta?

PopGoesBang · 11/03/2022 12:32

@Unknown6 anterior placenta is when the placenta is attached at the front so that is between baby and you. Absolutely fine, just means movements are somewhat muffled, especially to start with when they aren't as strong.
I had one in my previous pregnancy and pretty sure I do again.

Cakecakecheese · 12/03/2022 12:18

We're having a boy Smile

Unknown6 · 12/03/2022 12:50

@Cakecakecheese, congratulations, did you think he was a boy before you went to your scan?
I think we are having a girl but will find out for sure soon :)

ToCaden · 12/03/2022 12:54

@cakecakecheese yay. Did the reveal go OK? No technical problems with the balloon or something?

Cakecakecheese · 12/03/2022 13:48

@Unknown6 we were convinced he was a boy yes.

@Tocaden it took my partner a little while to pop the balloon as he used a screw for some reason! But it was all good.

ToCaden · 12/03/2022 14:48

@cakecakecheese that's great. Nice little memory for you to keep. Now you can start seriously thinking about names.
