@SantiagoSister Any decent midwife would be as helpful and reassuring as they can be after your last baby, definitely worth a conversation with them. I'm sure it'll be fine too but telling you that probably isn't that helpful when your mind is whirling! Best to hear it from a professional ☺️

mamaof2girls · 07/03/2022 06:42

Sorry been quiet for a while just getting back into routine after covid etc. has anyone else started to experience hip and groin pain? X

SantiagoSister · 07/03/2022 07:37

Thank you @Isonthecase, I’m going to speak to my midwife today just as a final piece of reassurance, but thankfully I do feel a bit calmer about it all today already!

netflixandnochill · 07/03/2022 08:14

Yes @mamaof2girls I’ve had PGP since week 12 which makes walking and standing quite painful. Especially after long periods of sitting. Feels like I’ve been excessively horse riding or mountain biking! All perfectly normal apparently but I’m going to speak to a midwife at my appointment on Thursday and see if they recommend physio.

mamaof2girls · 07/03/2022 08:26

@netflixandnochill with my second I have spd was hoping not to get it this time around but looks like I will be with it starting this early compared to last time! X

Shelly1812 · 07/03/2022 09:08
@Shelly1812 sorry to hear of your previous losses too, they’re devastating at all gestations 😔 I feel the same about buying things, feels like I might jinx things if I bought something for baby. It’s not a nice way to think and I hope it’ll pass for us as time goes on 🤞🏼
Sorry to hear of your loss too 😢. My 1st MC was at 11 + 4, when I was pregnant with my son after it I was ok as soon as I hit 12 weeks I put the thought out my head. My other MC was directly before this pregnancy (no period in between) and I don't know if it's from years of reading of others having later loses that this time in so paranoid 😩, hoping once I feel movement I'll feel much better and enjoy my pregnancy xx

My hips go into cramp really easily just now 😩, with my son I went to physio and had my pelvis realigned and it helped x
Shelly1812 · 07/03/2022 09:10

Do we have a FB page too? X

Busy few days, but have some time off now - hooray!

Had a letter through the post today telling me that the blood test they took at the scan (18 days ago Hmm ) showed low haemoglobin, do they enclosed a prescription for iron supplements, though they forgot to sign it so the pharmacist wouldn't fill it and I just had to buy them over the counter instead 🤦

Ay ay ay...

Apparently my hb levels are 111. I tried to look up the normal range out of curiosity but everything I could find appeared to be on different units as they were a factor of ten lower. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm sure that will be 111 grams per litre of blood, anything i can see online says 110 is classed as anaemia, iron tablets just now should boost your levels to prevent anaemia x
CoalCraft · 07/03/2022 21:24

@Shelly1812 Yeah, came across that in the end, for some reason it seems common to list it as either g/L (like on the letter) or grams per decilitre, which is a bit random 🤷 Hope the supplements do their job anyway and stop my levels getting low. Was surprised at first as I've been feeling pretty full of energy really, but makes sense if it's just precautionary.

16 week appointment tomorrow, just over the phone. Am hoping I can push the midwife into trying to bring my consultant appointment forward a bit.

PopGoesBang · 08/03/2022 07:39

@SantiagoSister I hope the midwife was able to reassure you a bit more yesterday and you are doing ok.

@CoalCraft Also hope the midwife is helpful
Today and you can get the appointment moved forward and have some peace of mind.

SantiagoSister · 08/03/2022 07:48

Thank you for checking in @PopGoesBang, I appreciate that. Unfortunately my normal midwife was off sick yesterday but will be back in today hopefully. I did speak to another midwife who said infection is quite rare, but she could understand my concerns and they would be happy to do what they can to reassure me, which was nice. Will see what my normal midwife suggests today if she’s back in 🤞🏼 I’m still feeling anxious over it, even though rationally I know the chance is so small. But I’ve been that ‘1 in …’ statistic before so I don’t take much reassurance from stats now unfortunately. How are you doing?

theotherfossilsister · 08/03/2022 10:19

@SantiagoSister your words about wishing the baby safe in a lab really resonated. I've had some trauma too, and it's so hard to trust ourselves and our bodies afterwards. I'm sure the duck will.be fine but I know how impossible it is to let go of a fear.

My news is that I fell down one step on a bus, one, and broke my humerus in two places. I feel like an idiot and am in pain every time I move despite cast and sling. I probably need surgery and have an appointment tomorrow to discuss with the upper arm specialist but terrified of how this will effect baby. I'm also scared of losing all mobility and never being able to cuddle them when they're here.

PopGoesBang · 08/03/2022 11:36

@SantiagoSister I'm glad she was reassuring yesterday. And fingers crossed your usual one is again today.

ToCaden · 08/03/2022 11:53

@theotherfossilsister eek. Poor you. You've still got a fair bit to go until baby, so my fingers are crossed that you'll get good news and recover enough with physio and maybe an op to feel confident by the time baby is here. Please keep us updated.

Worst comes to worst there are one armed mothers who carry out all tasks with amazing competence so there's hope even if half of you is not up to snuff. Am hoping though that's not a skill you'll need to pick up.

SantiagoSister · 08/03/2022 12:36

@theotherfossilsister You’ve said it perfectly, it is hard to trust ourselves and our bodies after trauma, and I feel that’s so true. I think that’s where a lot of my irrational fears come from, because I have been unable to carry a baby to term before I feel like my body failed me, and could do again. I’m so sorry to hear of your terrible luck falling down one bus step, I’d have never imagined it could’ve done so much damage. I’m glad baby is ok, must be so uncomfortable for you though. Good luck for your appointment tomorrow and I hope you get some answers to put your mind at ease about having surgery while baby is on board. I would be worried about that too, but then there’s not a lot I don’t seem to worry about at the moment!

@PopGoesBang thank you. My midwife was reassuring today too thankfully, again said the risk is minuscule but will happily offer me the blood test in a couple of weeks to put my mind at ease, which I thought was so kind of her. At least I can put this worry to bed then hopefully.

ToCaden · 08/03/2022 13:30

Anyone else feeling really stretched in the tummy area? I feel like when you overindulgence on food and have to sit down because you feel like you're going to pop, only not as related to stomach.

I'm not sure what I thought having a bump would feel like, but keep being taken off guard by symptoms I hadn't considered before.

My cats are also getting extra cuddly and snuggling up to belly. Though think there might be some sibling rivalry starting early because I swear whenever the younger cat cuddles up to bump baby starts non stop kicking her.

squatternutbosh12 · 08/03/2022 14:01

@theotherfossilsister oh my god that is the worst luck!! Sad you poor thing, hope they can get you fixed soon and you have a speedy recovery! X

Isonthecase · 08/03/2022 15:26

@theotherfossilsister it should heal in plenty of time, they usually say about 6 weeks. Get a ruler ready though as it gets itchy under the cast! I broke my arm in 2 places as a child and that was the worst bit. And you'll need to exfoliate a LOT once it's off. Rubbish luck though, hope you're feeling a lot better asap.

theotherfossilsister · 08/03/2022 16:26

Thank you guys. I'm just so happy the baby was ok when they checked but a bit resentful that I'm going to lose the golden trimester. I'd just come out of the haze of tiredness and was starting to feel human again. Six weeks isn't too bad though.

Just feel like an idiot

Cakecakecheese · 08/03/2022 16:31

@theotherfossilsister Oh no! You're not an idiot, these things happen. My friend is 8 months pregnant and caught her foot in a pothole and fell over! Her and the baby are both fine but what a scare.

ToCaden · 08/03/2022 17:03

@theotherfossilsister most of the people I know who've broken bones have done so over really tiny things. Tripping over a curb is apparently a big cause. Seems to be more the way you land than anything. Happens a lot and you're more unstable and likely to hurt yourself while pregnant even before you get a big bump. You're pumped with a lot of hormones loosening ligaments. That's why they recommend pregnant women don't ride bicycles.

Don't feel stupid. It happens more often than you'd think.

beckybloomwood11 · 09/03/2022 11:24

Had my 16 week midwife appointment today (at 15+2) and got to hear baby's heartbeat! Was so lovely.

Hope everyone is doing well!

I have been getting this! I've had lower back pain for most of trimester two, but now if I stand or walk for too long I also get pelvic and hip pain. I have been referred for physio by my midwife and I bought myself a pregnancy support belt. I am 19 weeks :)
