Hi has anyone else not got a midwife appt yet? I'm 9+5 today. Got my scan through for 10th March, I will be 13+4 then. Feels like even longer til we can confidently tell people now!!

Purplerain1144 · 11/02/2022 10:57

@Hopingforarainbow27

Anyone on here expecting twins? Just found out today at 8week scan! So so shocked
Wow! Congratulations x
Whatelsecouldibecalled · 11/02/2022 11:07

@TotoAnnihiliation oh no. Are you off work now? I know you said you were a teacher?

My doctor signed me off with pregnancy related sickness. There is no way I could be in work right now!

I've got my booking in appointment with the midwife on Saturday. I'm going to tell her how poorly I am to see if there is anything she can do to help.

ShiningStarz · 11/02/2022 11:35

@EverydayIsPJday oh my gosh I fell asleep
On the side every night at around 8pm from around 5-7 weeks. Al of a sudden now (almost 10 weeks) I haven't felt as exhausted and can stay awake with Dp until bedtime! I am feeling cold though too so sometimes I do go up earlier than him with my hot water bottle! Don't think he minds. We are going out for Sunday lunch this weekend so that'll be nice time spent awake !!

annlee3817 · 11/02/2022 11:44

I haven't found the the tiredness has hit me much this time round. Last time I was asleep by 8 most nights, napping etc, but this time I'm still awake at 10.30, if anything sleep is crap

IzzyLeigh · 11/02/2022 11:45

@EverydayIsPJday I might just not have seen the article you have seen, but I've only heard that excessive sleep in pregnancy isn't ideal in the third trimester (probably something to do with positioning and bloodflow to the baby at that point?). And "excessive sleep" is defined as 9–10 hours of uninterrupted sleep for multiple days in a row. It doesn't sound like you're getting that. Don't worry about sleeping too much. Listen to your body. Sleep is crucial right now. If you're concerned, it wouldn't hurt to ask you doctor about it just for peace of mind.
And I agree with @girafferafferaffe that you should talk to your husband about it being temporary. He's just going to have to understand. You're making all these sacrifices, so the least he can do is watch tv by himself for a few weeks, right? At least that's how I justify it to myself. Our partners are in this with us and they need to be understanding and support us even if it makes them a bit lonely or inconvenienced. I mean, we're growing humans! If it's more a matter of you guys missing each other, why not have him go lay down with you? Watch stuff in bed together instead?

@Dreamer30 YES. I swear my dog knew before I knew, which makes sense as they can probably smell the hormone changes and she's half bloodhound. Every day she gets more and more clingy. It's insane. I can't even pee by myself anymore! She was always a little clingy but it's to a whole other level now. She is my little shadow and she just whines and whines when I'm in the shower because she can't be there to protect me. It's a little frustrating at times but, my god, it's so cute. She's very old so I'm just hoping she holds on long enough to meet baby. I'll definitely cry at their meeting, for sure

btw, I heard nosebleeds were more common in pregnancy and I just got a bad one. I'm even typing with one hand as the other is pinching my nose right now! anyone else getting them yet?

calipoppy · 11/02/2022 12:56

@EverydayIsPJday I'm also in bed from 7.30 most nights - I don't go to sleep until around 9 but like you I find the only way to minimise nausea in the evenings is to lie completely still!
I'm 10+1 and it's still bad in the evenings - hopefully you won't be but it's probably worth chatting to your husband just in case you need to do it for a few weeks. It's all about doing anything you can to feel better for now I think!!

girafferafferaffe · 11/02/2022 13:01

Also my husband doesn't mind so much if I go to bed early ish because it means he can watch shit about cars on YouTube without me rolling my eyes haha. He might not mind as much as you think x

KL89 · 11/02/2022 13:10

Hi ladies how bad are all your sickness??

I had some toast on butter yesterday morning and threw it all back up 🤢!! With my dd I was sick up until 30 week and had her at 36 weeks so didn't have much of a great pregnancy!!

Worried this pregnancy may be the same with the sickness

Goodgoodthings · 11/02/2022 13:30

Hi everyone, I've been a bit quiet on here and keeping my fingers crossed but I had a scan yesterday and thankfully everything is looking good, measuring 7+4.

Sorry to hear lots of you are feeling so poorly, my sickness this pregnancy has been bad so far but I've been on cyclizine since Tue and so far it's making life much more manageable!

I've got a work question - basically I've been working for the same place for 10 years. My dream job has become available, hiring manager reached out to say they think I'll be great, all amazing. But I just feel like a huge imposter going for it knowing I'm pregnant...although it's still very early. What are your thoughts - do I have an interview without saying anything, but tell them if they actually offer me the job? It's keeping me up at night and I'm just feeling so anxious about the whole thing. I'm so happy to be pregnant but this job would be life changing for me really and I don't want to have to choose. Really appreciate some kind advice!

girafferafferaffe · 11/02/2022 13:35

@Goodgoodthings we had someone at my work go for (and get) a second in department job while pregnant (the school didn't know at the time but she did). Nobody is unhappy about it at all! It's one of those things.

I also was given a Payrise when I had just found out I was pregnant and felt awful about it but they were fantastic about it when I told them.

I'd say go for it! If you'll be brilliant at the job now, you'll be brilliant at it when you come back too.

ShiningStarz · 11/02/2022 13:40

@Goodgoodthings go for the job!!! Definitely don't even think twice.
You don't have to tell your employer about your pregnancy until 16 weeks before sue date so you could wait until it's obvious (unless you work from home and can hide it a bit longer)!
Once you go on Maternity you have to return to same job on same pay! Hope you get the job 🤞🤞

IzzyLeigh · 11/02/2022 13:43

@Goodgoodthings I completely agree with @girafferafferaffe and @ShiningStarz! Get go your dream job!

IzzyLeigh · 11/02/2022 13:43

go get* haha

TotoAnnihiliation · 11/02/2022 13:44

Are we married to the same man? That's exactly what my husband does.

My sickness has taken a turn for the worse. I'm struggling to eat and have any fluid. I'm 8+2, I did not have this at all with DD.
girafferafferaffe · 11/02/2022 13:46

@TotoAnnihiliation hahaha he honestly watches the biggest amount of shit on there. Fixing cars and boats. Looking round expensive houses. Farmers?! Some bonkers man who definitely has adhd that keeps random animals like an emu and wallaby in his garden.

Glitterygreen · 11/02/2022 14:03

@Goodgoodthings Is the role within your current workplace?

If not, the only thing I'd be wary of is that some places need to you to work there for X amount of time in order to get anything more than statutory maternity pay. Eg. with my job I had to be there a year before a certain week of my pregnancy in order to get their maternity package, otherwise I would have just got basic statutory throughout - and even that is dependent on having worked at the company for 26 weeks prior to the 'qualifying week'.

But if it's the same employer then it's fine in any case.

Goodgoodthings · 11/02/2022 14:10

@girafferafferaffe @Glitterygreen @ShiningStarz @IzzyLeigh thanks so much for your messages, really gives me a confidence boost! Luckily it is within the same company, just can't believe the timing really. I'll keep you posted 🤞🏻

@TotoAnnihiliation sorry to hear how bad you've been feeling! Has the GP prescribed anything with you being signed off? I didn't take anything first pregnancy and struggled through until 22 weeks with vomiting. This time I just thought sod it, I'd lost 5 pounds over a week so GP had no problem prescribing something and luckily it's made a huge difference. I'm still sick a little but I can function and don't have that bed ridden seasick feeling all the time!

TotoAnnihiliation · 11/02/2022 14:23

@Goodgoodthings - definitely go for the job! Yes, my doctor prescribed me cyclizine, and signed me off for two week. I was so poorly in the middle of the night that I thought I would have to go to hospital. I couldn't even keep water down!

Goodgoodthings · 11/02/2022 14:49

@TotoAnnihiliation that's so awful 😣 I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you'll get your strength back soon. Hats off to the ladies who have this all the way through. First pregnancy I used to cry myself to sleep and genuinely felt like I couldn't possibly be meant for motherhood if this was how my body was coping! It's a dark and miserable place to be at times. Sending you lots of love 💕

annlee3817 · 11/02/2022 17:06

Also sorry about all of you who are suffering so badly with sickness, I found the nausea bad enough, don't think I'd have handled it as well if I'd actually been throwing up.

@Moonshine160 I am so glad to hear that things are looking a little better today. I hope that this is the bleeding stage over and you just had a little blood packet that your body had to get rid of or something. How stressful though!

@Goodgoodthings you should 100% go for the job, crossing everything that you get it!

@EverydayIsPJday hello it me :). When I stay up my husband looks at me like I have 2 heads now as it is such a rare occurrence. Between that and our 2 year old DD the intimacy is well and truly gone from our relationship right now.

@mol2mum the general rules (from someone who did it ALL wrong last time) are firstly stay hydrated (really hydrated), don't take on new forms of exercise, no core/ab work after week 12 and no lying on back for exercise in 2nd trimester onwards. On the flip side, doctors still want us to stay active and healthy so continue walking/running/swimming, light weights etc. I don't see anything wrong with lifting light weights and keeping body strength up during pregnancy. I was effectively put on bed rest the last time though, got very frustrated, did a bunch of weight free squats since I wasn't meant to be "lifting weights" and my water broke. My husband nearly strangled me when I said I did that as I hadn't thought that your body is a weight in itself lol. So basically even if you are at the end, doing weight free squats etc is still a form of exercise, and if you are 37 weeks onwards, squat that baby out!

@TotoAnnihiliation hope you are feeling better. HG is trully the worst feeling ever. Just know you are nearing the end of it (hopefully)

@Dreamer30 my dog literally stands on me at the park and has done since week 6. He refuses to leave my side, and is especially clingy. I am sure he knows there is a change.

@girafferafferaffe I am dying laughing at your husband's TV choices. My one stays up watching shows about tiny houses, the weirdest of buildings, top gear specials etc.

I'm in exactly the same position funnily enough. I'm 12 weeks pregnant and have waivered so many times over the last week deciding to apply or not.

I've applied, but I do plan to tell them if I get to interview that I'm pregnant. But I'm going to spin it around - if your looking for the best person long term, then that's me :)

Good luck!
