@TotoAnnihiliation are you kidding me? I am absolutely fuming for you. total dick move. unbelievable.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 03/02/2022 16:14

@TotoAnnihiliation hope you're in a union. They would have a field day with this!!

Keep email logs of everything he says from now on.

Just to confirm what was said on....at... etc.

Wanker NOT Walker. Mn really needs ab edit button!

@TotoAnnihiliation Don't do it! You could lose your entitlement to statutory maternity pay, as it's based on what you earn in week 25 - or thereabouts, I'm not 100% sure. If you go to gov.uk and use their maternity pay calculator, it will tell you exactly which week it's based on.

madeleine85 · 03/02/2022 16:25

@girafferafferaffe it will get better! I have up and down days with weight and bloat/bad skin, but it comes and goes. So close to the 2nd trimester... its all going to get better. she prays.

@TotoAnnihiliation um do you have a HR department? Because now would be the time to go to them? What kind of place do you work for? Small or large? Your boss needs some serious retraining and reminding of what is legally acceptable to say in a UK workplace. Even in a small company, what he is "suggesting" is completely not ok. He is basically trying to force you out for being pregnant, which wow, he cannot do.

Tinadecember · 03/02/2022 16:30

Girls... wanted to seek advice and see if any of you ladies are feeling this.

The last 2 days or so, all I can describe it as is my abdomen area (around belly button and upwards) is tender to touch. I am 7+4. Feels almost bruised if I prod and achey.. is this due to moving organs etc? Hoping some of you have felt the same

madeleine85 · 03/02/2022 16:42

@Tinadecember the early stages particularly weeks 5-8 are just weird. You will get a lot of round ligament stretching, so kinda pulling feelings at the muscles around your hip bones, general bloating, and yes things do move around. With my first I had to pee every 5 seconds at 6 weeks which hasn't happened this time. It was more uncomfortable at the early stage with my first I remember. If you are worried, can you just shoot a question to your midwife to check? Though I have mental images of you poking your belly repeatedly to see if it's still sore, and please dont do that :)

girafferafferaffe · 03/02/2022 17:00

@TotoAnnihiliation have a look at pregnant then screwed. They have an advice line you can ring. They sound awful to work for!

Billymay · 03/02/2022 17:02

@TotoAnnihiliation phone the citizens advice. They were brilliant with me as when I last found out I was pregnant my boss sold the salon I worked in but because I was still employed by the company I got my entitlement. Xxx

TotoAnnihiliation · 03/02/2022 18:36

Ladies, thank you so much for all your replies. There are too many of you to tag. I just needed to get a general feel of if I was over reacting. I'm in my first year of teaching and it was the head teacher that suggested this. I've emailed the union for advice.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 03/02/2022 18:44

@TotoAnnihiliation Jesus Christ this is even worse. Which union are you with! NUT would go mental over this. Totally unacceptable

Also. Ensure you still move through MPR pay scales abs maternity counts.

PM me if you want I'm also a teacher

@TotoAnnihiliation she is so correct. Head teacher is totally in the wrong. As a teacher I cannot imagine a head saying this. Like a lot of other posters I think I thought you were going to say you work for some small business without HR where the boss didn't know better (not that it would be an excuse) but a head teacher should know better than to say something like this. Definitely get union involved asap.

PuffyCupcake · 03/02/2022 19:10

Hi all, with a heavy heart I’ll be tapping out from now on. Good luck all with your journeys and fingers crossed, it’s been a positive experience sharing concerns and hearing your stories.

My spotting turned to clotting on Wed (8w4d), where I spent most of the day in A&E. Had my scan today which confirmed no evidence of foetus. Will spend the next few weeks navigating NHS with the hope of accessing more specialist advice (3rd miscarriage).

Love to you all and hopefully this doesn’t happen to any of you x.

Isonthecase · 03/02/2022 19:11

@TotoAnnihiliation I think that sounds like a dick move but is there more to the story at all? Sometimes people really do need to just take some time out from work for their own wellbeing, especially if they have a lot on outside it.

That's a very generous interpretation though...

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 03/02/2022 19:11

@PuffyCupcake I'm so very sorry

Isonthecase · 03/02/2022 19:12

So sorry to hear that @PuffyCupcake!

madeleine85 · 03/02/2022 19:14

@TotoAnnihiliation glad you feel some backup here. I am so glad that you are a teacher so have a union and its not just some wee business. That headteacher should be hauled over the coals for the multiple insensitive comments. They need sent back to training at the very least. You are 100% in the right here.

madeleine85 · 03/02/2022 19:15

@PuffyCupcake I'm so sorry for your loss. Sending all my love for a speedy mental and physical healing process, please take care of yourself x

girafferafferaffe · 03/02/2022 19:16

@PuffyCupcake I'm so sorry x

TotoAnnihiliation · 03/02/2022 19:17

Once again thank you ladies. I will take it up with the union.

@PuffyCupcake - I am so sorry. I will keep you in my thoughts 💕

annlee3817 · 03/02/2022 19:24
