Didn't quite realise we were so close to the end of the second one. Blush So let's have another one! Grin I'll post the due date list in a moment.

@FrenchFairy85 I'm absolutely clueless still on names... I just can't find one that I really like! How about you?

MiracleBaby2022 · 05/02/2022 22:30

@Pac35 mine was breech and transverse for most of the pregnancy until this Wednesday she suddenly turned head down, tucked right into my pelvis and I'm now getting used to her kicking my ribs! She's back to back though so I'm hoping she'll turn the other way at some point.

Dyra · 05/02/2022 22:42

@Pac35 Welcome back! Want me to add you to the due date list? Everything crossed baby decides to go head down in the coming weeks. Would you go for an ECV if offered? My appetite is huge too. Though my stomach protests if too much goes in at once. Getting a bit of a sweet tooth too.

My LO has been head down since at least 20 weeks. They seem to be taking a liking to pushing their head right into my pelvis and causing lightning crotch.

@Caass45 oh how utterly rubbish. FX DH recovers quickly and gets back on his feet too.

I think I'm settled on names. Just got to see if it matches them when we finally meet.

Caass45 · 05/02/2022 22:45

@Dyra I do hope so. Tomorrow would have been my day off work but going in to cover for him instead 😅

Names are so hard. Always said I'd struggle for boys names but girls names were fine. Then we got pregnant, picked a boys name we both loved and found out she's a girl and literally still clueless 🤣 we like a name but it's also the name of one of my friends so I think it'd be weird.

Pac35 · 06/02/2022 08:15

@Dyra yes please, due date 25/3/22. I will definitely try an ECV- what's to lose?!

BostonFern · 06/02/2022 14:30

@Pac35 Fingers crossed that baby turns soon!

@Caass45 hope your husband is feeling better soon.

I’m going to be 36 weeks tomorrow, feeling really uncomfortable now, and definitely feel like baby’s head is moving lower. Lots of appointments this week with scans, midwife, consultant and I’m booked in to see a chiropractor. Actually quite looking forward to seeing if the chiropractor can make me a bit more comfortable. Also getting quite excited about meeting baby and introducing her to her brother.

Names are so difficult! When we were expecting our son we thought picking a girls name was easy compared to a boys name, and now we are expecting a girl we were able to think of boys names but struggled with girls names! We are pretty sure we have settled on a name now.

@BostonFern oooh exciting! Is this your last scan now before birth?

OP posts:
BostonFern · 06/02/2022 18:02

@Dyra I think it will be! It’s suddenly feeling so much more real, knowing I’ll be discussing the birth plan properly with the consultant and midwife. I’m also starting to feel a bit emotional that my son won’t have our undivided attention for much longer! How are you feeling about baby number 2 fitting into family life?

Dyra · 06/02/2022 20:06

@BostonFern Head in the sand sums it up. 😅 I know there's a baby in there, and I've pretty much accepted that labour will happen at some point. But having an actual baby to look after at the end of it? Nope!!!

I think DD will be ok with it. 🤞🏻 She really loves babies, and she's usually pretty good about independent play. I'm not adverse to using screen time liberally either. Thankfully I've got DH for 6 weeks as well, which I know is massively going to help with transitioning from 1 to 2.

Hi all!
Hope you’re all well! Feel like such a dummy I didn’t notice there was a new thread so for the last two weeks have been wondering why it was so quiet🙈32+2 at the moment and feel so done now. Got restless legs and heartburn most of the time and not sleeping until 2am most nights is really getting me downSad

Got a scan and consultant appointment tomorrow to see if placenta has moved so fingers crossed.
Hope your all feeling a little bit better than I am😂

Dyra · 07/02/2022 07:54

FX your placenta has moved up @Cxjai792. Best of luck with your scan later. Always lovely to see baby. 🥰 I can relate a little to the insomnia. It's rare now where I don't see the clock tick over into the new day. I have heartburn too.... These babies are going to be covered with hair if the stories are true! But restless legs as well? You have all my sympathies. That sounds dreadful. Everything aches too much to want to move, even involuntarily.

Baby brain is in full swing too. Completely forgot to finish stripping a roast chicken after I used half of it last night. Left it out on the side all night. 🤢

Cxjai792 · 07/02/2022 11:10

@Dyra
Thank you, that is a plus to having extra scans isn’t it❤️It really is awful isn’t it, seems to be no matter what I eat or drink which just puts me off everything. Not long to go now so we can look forward to the finish line and these horrible symptoms to go away!
🤢the smell of chicken is the worst isn’t it🤢

bubblybrit · 08/02/2022 09:56

Morning all 😀 just found this thread….thought the other one was a little quiet and then realised that it was closed when I went to post!

Haven’t read through all posts yet so hoping everyone is well?

I have officially stopped working. Decided to use some annual leave as my work was becoming too stressful and didn’t want to keep ploughing on until my mat leave kicked in in March! Best decision ever!

Still feel pretty unorganised though as haven’t bought anything at all for the baby. Luckily I still have all the bigger items from when DD was a baby i.e. pram, cot, bouncer but I still need essentials. Really want to get organised this week or next and start packing my hospital bag xx

Countingchicks · 08/02/2022 10:16

Wish I'd opted to start maternity leave sooner. Got until 4th March 😩

bubblybrit · 08/02/2022 11:04

@Countingchicks. Could you use some holidays to pull the date forward? I’ve been lucky in that my work was crazy busy over lockdown periods so they allowed annual leave to be carried forward. Meant I could use that and save this years accrued allowance for when mat leave finishes x

Countingchicks · 08/02/2022 12:57

@bubblybrit no as I'm already using two weeks at the start of it and rest at the end of the year as not taking any of the unpaid time off

bubblybrit · 08/02/2022 13:13

@Countingchicks. I hope that the next few weeks fly by in that case x

Cxjai792 · 08/02/2022 15:12

Just wanted a bit of advice please my last day at work is the 4th of March which leaves exactly 4 weeks until my due date.
In my last pregnancy I had high blood pressure in the end and each time with this pregnancy my bp has been pretty inconsistent (mainly low but still all over the shop). I had a scan yesterday everything is looking good, placenta has moved out of the way but they want to monitor me weekly for my bp.

I am really considering starting maternity this week or next. Just having such a hard time, hardly sleeping, I’m on my feet for a lot of my job. I’m worrying my blood pressure will shoot up again. Should I just go for it and go on maternity. I’m pretty miserable at the moment😭

bubblybrit · 08/02/2022 19:08

@Cxjai792. I’d go for it if I were you. I have also been pretty miserable this pregnancy. I’ve got anaemia and pgp and just felt that I had lost all motivation for work. I had to push through the days and I felt that was detrimental to my health and the health of the little one. I’ve been able to use a decent chunk of annual leave before my maternity leave kicks in in March. Only my second day and I already feel as if a weight has been lifted. Yes I am still anaemic and yes I still have pgp but I don’t have the pressure of work. If I need to lie down/take a nap/have a bath then I am free to do so xx

Cxjai792 · 08/02/2022 21:41

@bubblybrit you poor thing bless you! On top of everything that comes with pregnancy, having anemia is awful. Good you got to go off earlier must feel like such a relief and hopefully you’ll feel much better once baby is here. Take it easy and get plenty of rest!
I spoke to my manager this evening he said he needs to find out when the earliest I can go off from is which is worrying🥴something about my MATb1 which he’s had for awhile now. Just feel like it’s a way to keep me going longer!xx

Dyra · 08/02/2022 22:39

Glad your scan went well, and placenta is out of the way! Is there no provision at all for you to be able to sit at your job? Or to be moved to lighter duties @Cxjai792? That's very unreasonable of your work to have done neither.

Iirc, to change the start of your maternity leave, you need to give 28 days notice before the new start date. Not sure what the MATB1 form is going to tell him, unless he needs reminding of your due date. Is there any annual leave you can juggle around to fill the gap until March? There's always the possibility of getting signed off by your GP, if you don't want to lose any of the time at the end of your maternity leave. If it's for a pregnancy related reason, your mat leave would still kick in at 36 weeks anyway. Hope you and your boss can work something out.

@bubblybrit Welcome back! Anaemia is absolute crap, and PGP on top of that?! Don't blame you for finishing early. If I wasn't already off, I'm pretty sure I'd have bought my maternity/annual leave combo forwards by now. I can't even climb my stairs at home without wincing with each step and needing at least one breather before reaching the top.

OP posts:
SouthwestSis · 09/02/2022 09:58

@Cxjai792 you should have had a pregnancy risk assessment at work and are entitled to pregnancy related adjustments to your role/conditions/hours (so you shouldn't have to be on your feet for long periods towards the end of pregnancy for example) and this can happen without triggering your maternity leave.
My advice would be to make sure your making the most of these work related adjustments before triggering your precious mat leave

Cxjai792 · 09/02/2022 13:34

@Dyra thank you! I can sit sometimes at work but it can be a case of having to stand because we’re understaffed and the staff that work either refuse to do certain roles or complain they have to cover that bit for me. And the answer always is there’s no one else to do it. I don’t have any annual leave left sadly but it does kick in for the new year in March. Ahh thank you I wasn’t aware I had to give 28 days notice, ideally I’d like to keep going until March but I can never pin my manager down to make sure he has people in to cover areas like customer service or self scan🥴

@SouthwestSis I have had two risk assessments, the last one being in October but whenever I’ve tried to ask for a chat I get fobbed off. I also got told if I had quite a bit of time off for pregnancy related illness that they can force me onto maternity no matter how far along I am, but when I’ve checked the hr policy it says only from 36weeks onwards can that happen. Think I just need to be a bit sterner if another colleague can refuse to stand on self scan because her foot hurts and she has no doctors note to say so then surely I should be allowed to say no as well!

Thank you for your advice ladies

bubblybrit · 09/02/2022 13:42

Ah I hope you get something sorted @Cxjai792. I think you do need to give notice if you alter your maternity date but it’s usually at the discretion of the employer (standard is 28 days as pp says but my work will accommodate requests where possible).

If you don’t want to get signed off then you could also look to get a fit note with amended duties. I did this in my second trimester and got to work reduced hours for 4 weeks. Maybe that would help at least? X

bubblybrit · 09/02/2022 13:46

@Dyra. Yeah I’m so glad to be off now! I need a little lie down/bath in the afternoon. Allows me to gain some energy for my DD coming home from nursery. I’m struggling to catch a breath as well….just hung up some washing and feel as if I’ve run a marathon. Can’t wait until this baby makes an appearance x
