I've never heard of afterthought either but interested. I remember nearly all of it but it's a bit blurry too. I thought from my waters breaking to her arriving was about an hour but it was nearly 3. But tbh after 47 hours of Contractions it probably felt like an hour 😂

@Derbee glad things are better. Elizabeth sleeps in her cot from 11pm-7am then has a feed then cuddles with us till 9.30 unless we have stuff on. She loves it and gives us a little extra sleep.

So does 12 week get better? I thought there was a development leap then that makes them fussy and I've been dreading it 😂

Any advice on 12 week vaccines ? We have ours booked next Wednesday and I have a cut and colour booked after. Is there a high chance she will be unsettled? Considering postponing my appointment. She was fine with 8 week ones and I know she's not getting men b this time so shouldn't need paracetamol just don't know what to expect

Dyra · 15/06/2022 18:14

Elizabeth is giving you an amazing amount of sleep! I much prefer going to bed late and sleeping in though. So those hours would be perfect for me. As for the jabs, I found (with DD) anyway, the older they were, the better they handled their jabs, even if going through a leap. She had issues with the rotavirus more than MenB, but I'm sure she was ok enough to allow for a cut + colour afterwards. Max has his on Tuesday.😬
@Caass45

Glad things are working out for you @Derbee

@Scoaf Amazing to have that first laugh already! DD had hers at 110 days old. (15+5). I remember it so well. It was Christmas Eve and we had been trying to teach her to blow raspberries. Instead we taught her to laugh. 😊Can't wait to hear Max's giggle. He's a chatty soul. Lots of coos.

Birth afterthoughts might be called something else. It's just talking through the notes taken during your delivery with a midwife. Help understand when and why things happened when they did.

@Dyra the hours she sleeps are good just now fingers crossed for a not terrible sleep regression. I'm glad you like the hours I felt like we were getting her down late as I see lots of people say they put their babies down at like 7 or 8 but our LO is not interested in going to bed then.

Thanks for the advice I always worry about being out with her and her fussing so the idea of vaccines and going out makes me even more nervous but she did so good with her 8 week ones hopefully she will be good with these too.

Afterbirth thoughts sound good I've never heard of it before!

Did anyone actually have their LOs on the 29th? Its my birthday and when lizzie was due but she came early

Dyra · 15/06/2022 23:24

I'm tempted to go back through the threads and collate when people actually had their babies. 🤓I don't think many people came back to announce in the end though. I did meet another baby who was born the day Max was due the other day. I was slightly jealous. The 27th would have been such a good birthday to have.

Do what's right for you @Caass45 There's always some outliers. Sure most babies hit the hay around 7-8pm, but there'll always be some that go to bed later, and some earlier. I know I've talked about her a lot recently, but my DD was a night owl as a baby. Still is as a matter of fact. But when she was little, I couldn't put her down in her cot until 10-11pm. Then ahe wouldn't wake fully for the day until nearly noon!😅Made getting to baby groups tough. She's coming up 3 now and sleeps 8-8. We've never had a set bedtime. Fortunately, she's very adaptable. We're on holiday atm, and she went to bed at 10.30pm tonight. She's tired, but doesn't get tantrummy. Unless I'm taking her away from her disco fun ofc.... 🙄

I was thinking it would be a great comparison to see our due dates and our birth dates 🥰 thats true were missing a few mums from the start. Yes mothers day ! I was rooting for that day. I ended up getting so many mothers day cards from people but honestly mothers day and my birthday were complete blurs 😅 I was a mess. I just wrote a lengthy Facebook post about my expectations and reality of having a child cause couldn't believe the difference. It was way harder 😅

Thanks its nice to see some support. Sometimes these groups are great for support sometimes they cause such anxiety 😅 I know if I did get her down earlier she wouldn't magically sleep until the same time of morning she would most likely sleep for the same amount of hours and be up in the middle of the night and I do not like early mornings haha tbh she was hard to get down tonight and I did take it out on my other half. I was just getting worked up thinking why isn't she asleep! She got there in the end. Your daughter sounds a lot like she is. I don't mind her being up till 11 as its when we go to bed and she gets up when my husband gets up for work so it's not so bad.

Oh no don't take away the disco fun 😂

Derbee · 16/06/2022 15:17

Interesting to hear about due dates and birth dates…

Due date 26th March, birth date 6th April after an induction

Caass45 · 16/06/2022 17:20

@Derbee oh my goodness weren't you going out your mind ? Elizabeth was due 29th March and born 1.49am 25th March and I was desperate to get her out😅

After saying how good she was sleeping she was a complete nightmare last night. So unsettled. She's been really congested for a few days now especially in the morning and coughing sneezing throughout the day. Doc thinks it's mild bronchiolitis. Hopefully she's better in a few days. She's due her first sleepover at aunty's house on Sunday 🤞

Derbee · 16/06/2022 21:45

@Caass45 I was surprisingly relaxed about it, although kept symptom spotting for signs of labour! I was almost 4cm when I went in for my induction, so technically labour had started

Dyra · 17/06/2022 01:22

Oh no! I hate their rattly breathing with bronchiolitis. Poor babies. Everything crossed it's a mild case and Elizabeth gets better soon.

Max was due on 27th March, but entered my life at 2.13am on the 12th March instead.

Poor guy only gets preseason testing around his birthday instead of an actual F1 race like myself, his daddy, and his big sister do.

@Derbee glad you weren't too bothered. I was 12 days late when I was born and now I apologise to my mum often 🤣 that's good labour had started already! I was 4cm when I arrived at 7am and stayed that way foreeeevvveeerr 😅 8cm at about 12.30am the next day 🙄

@Dyra she is doing ok just a little cough, sneezes and congestion so I think she will be ok. She slept again all night so 🤞

Scoaf · 23/06/2022 21:07

Teddy was due 28th March butvwas born 24th March.
Just wondering what people do with their LO in the evening?
At the moment Teddy is in his moses basket with us in the living room and i go to bed about 10 and my OH stays downstairs until his last feed and then brings him upto bed with him afterwards. X

Dyra · 23/06/2022 21:34

Max is starting to sleep through. So either he kips on me in the lounge, or I pop him in his Moses basket and leave him in my room.

Had a horrible moment earlier. Max fell off the sofa while DH was sound asleep "looking after" him. We think he managed to motor himself head first over the edge with his kicking legs. Poor lad has a small bump on his wee noggin, but is otherwise normal. DH is very much in the dog house. His excuse was that "he's very tired". Well so am I! I'm frequently waking up in the night due to the heat. But I still manage to stay awake when I'm the only one with Max....

Oh. And my wound opened up. Again...

OP posts:
Dyra · 23/06/2022 21:51

I had a sobering thought. We can start thinking of our pregnancies in "one year ago" terms. March 2023 BFPs are starting to appear. My LMP with Max was just over a year ago now. In 3 weeks it'll be the first anniversary of his BFP. 🥺 How can it be a year ago already?! Extraordinary thing time.

OP posts:
Scoaf · 23/06/2022 22:14

Yes Teddy will sleep until 6am now then goes back down until about 8ish. Fingers crossed it lasts.
Oh no poor Max, glad he is ok though.
He's a brave man playing the tired card 🤣
Oh dear, you are having a bad day, I didnt realise that could still happen now? Or is because of teh trouble you had with it at the beginning?
Yeah we got out BFP at end of July. How scary is that, its just going so quickly.
Teddy had his 12 week jabs today. I cant believe i have a 3month old 🥺

Caass45 · 23/06/2022 23:34

Usually Elizabeth goes down ok but she's really fighting it tonight she had her 12 week bags yesterday so she slept a lot today. We fo up to bed about 9 30 where she gets her last feed she falls asleep and we put her in her next to me with rain sounds on

Glad max is OK! These things happen but I get why your frustrated.

We got our bfp July 15th what a fast year! We're hoping we don't get another one soon as we may have had a little slip up on our first night away without baby 🙈 last thing I could deal with is another baby before this one's even 1 and we definitely don't need another march birthday!

Dyra · 24/06/2022 01:09

Thanks everyone. I'll be keeping an eye on Max whenever I wake up in the night. So far so good.

It's a fine line between bravery and idiocy... That being said, DH did have the good sense to shut up and look very repentant.

Tbh the wound has never really fully healed @Scoaf. It came close, but it split open while I was on holiday. I left it in the hope it would heal on its own, but it hasn't. Got a little bit of leftover alginate rope dressing on it now, with some more to put on tomorrow and Saturday if needs be. If it's not improved after the weekend, I'll go to the nurse again.

I know where you're coming from @Caass45. I've got an implant, but I took a test as I had a bout of extreme fatigue and nausea out of nowhere. It was BFN, but the thought of potentially having another baby with a less than 12 month gap....

Glad everyone's 12 week jabs went well. Max was very grouchy and unsettled after his. He also had a fever! Went away after a single shot of Calpol, but caught us a little by surprise. Completely normal temperature after the MenB one, but then he did have prophylactic Calpol.

Caass45 · 24/06/2022 19:01

How was wee max last night @Dyra ?

Yes I really wouldn't like such a small gap. Suppose I'll wait and see. I took the morning after pill the next day but the day after got a positive ovulation test so that caused me concern.

Elizabeth has been very unsettled today compared to her usual self but also laughed a few times she's only done that twice before.

Awww. Thanks for asking after Max @Caass45 . 😘He was absolutely fine. Slept right through again from 10pm until 7.30am. Been his normal chatty smily self today too. No visible bump or bruise either, so I guess he's unscathed. DH is still in the dog house.

How sweet that Elizabeth has laughed! We've gotten squeals, but no chuckles yet. Can't wait. Fingers crossed for you.

Hello ladies

It's been a while, sorry, I needed a break... My daughter is doing much better now. I've managed to move from 50-50 formula/breast to breastfeeding at every feed now. She still needs about 2 x 80-90ml formula per day to keep her satisfied but I'm pretty happy with that and the fact I managed to get this far after such a traumatic first 8 weeks.

It sounds like your babies have started sleeping through the night, that's amazing! The way I'm coping at the moment is I go to bed as soon as she's asleep, anytime between 8-10pm and if I give her some formula top-up just before bed she can sleep 5.5 hrs. The biggest issue I have is that I can't go back to sleep after feeding her around 3.30am. She goes back to sleep for another 3 hours or so but I'm wide awake 😫. Hoping she'll sleep a bit longer soon...

I saw the due date/birth date being mentioned - my daughter was due 29/3, but born 08/03 because I became ill and had an emergency c-section.

@MiracleBaby2022 well done for persevering with breast feeding. It’s SO HARD, and you’ve been through a lot.

As for managing to fall back to sleep after a feed, what light do you have? We have a red bulb in the bedside table lamp, and it really doesn’t wake you up properly. I read somewhere that red light helps keep your brain sleepy

MiracleBaby2022 · 25/06/2022 18:21

@Derbee yes I never knew breastfeeding could be this hard... 😫 Oh with my history of extreme insomnia I'm very careful so I have one of those little egg lights for breastfeeding in bed just for latching on then I turn the lights off. If I get 5 hours sleep I'm still doing MUCH much much better than I ever did for the last 8 years so I really shouldn't complain, but when you're exhausted from looking after the baby all I want is more Zzz's...

Dyra · 01/07/2022 21:39

Happy July everyone!

The 4 month/16 week sleep regression can fuck off now.

That is all.

@Dyra oh nooo. Hipe it passes quickly for you.
Teddy has started teething i think, grouchy, unsettled, knawing his hand like a starving animal and dribbling... so frustrating as he cant really hold anything in his hand to chew on yet. Tried a teething mit but he gets annoyed he cant shove the whole thing in his mouth 🤣
We had a bit of a hard day today. Our first birthday party, lots of noise, faces he didbt recognise and strange environment. He cried so much which isnt like him.
Anyone else had this? Xx
