@missv556 yes hello! Except I haven't had a scan yet - so only going on my dates. Scan is this week on Wednesday I'll be 13+3

Mattieandmummy · 08/01/2022 11:29

@purpleskyssssss oh not just me then! That's good to know. I wonder if it means they'll be big babies, my first was almost 9 and a half pounds... or it might just mean nothing at all. Guess we'll find out.

UncomfortableBadger · 08/01/2022 12:21

Hey all, had missed the migration to the new thread Blush Hope you’re all ok?

Went for my Covid booster yesterday despite being in two minds & the volunteer jabber told me she thought it was a bad idea. She asked me no less than five times if I really wanted to and if I felt it was worth the risk. I still went ahead as I had spoken to several professionals who said it was definitely worthwhile (including a reproductive immunologist) but I’m SO angry that she tried so hard to sway my decision when she openly admitted that it was her personal own opinion rather than any first hand experience/scientific knowledge. I was already anxious about it and she really didn’t help.

No wonder so few pregnant women are getting jabbed Sad

ShellUK09 · 08/01/2022 12:35

@UncomfortableBadger yes no wonder! The early messaging when pregnant women were told not to have it is still engrained in some people. I had my Pfizer booster last Sunday and I have been okay, then had my 12 week scan last Thursday and baby was okay. My side effects were a slightly raised temperature during the night and a headache which lasted about a day, my sore arm faded a lot quicker this time around. I used paracetamol and just rested and I was ok again fairly quickly. I still waited until I was 12 weeks to get the jab as I had a small doubt in my mind, but the people who did my vaccine were all very supportive of pregnant women getting the jab and reassured me it was safe. I also chose a centre that did Pfizer as my last two jabs were Pfizer and I was okay with them so didn't want to chance changing, my friend had moderna and had worst side effects x

UncomfortableBadger · 08/01/2022 12:43

@ShellUK09 Yes, I approached mine the same way as you - went for Pfizer again (better the devil you know I guess), waited until 14 weeks (as the data shows significant reduction in spontaneous miscarriage amongst vaccinated individuals post-12 weeks) and took paracetamol as a precaution.

Weirdest thing was that the jabber was going on about her Botox - clearly fine to get herself injected with a toxin but apparently a need to guilt pregnant women out of having their vaccines… Hmm

nadgersbadgers · 08/01/2022 12:54

@UncomfortableBadger is it worth a complaint? I'm a paramedic and the amount of poorly heavily pregnant women I've seen recently is breaking me tbh.

Wow that's not good at all!!

I think pregnant women are doing so much research, talking to so many people and it takes so much courage to make a decision and finally get to the jab centre!!

Sorry this happened to you 🙁

I have also had my booster, and the two guys there couldn't have been more helpful and reassuring, I wish you'd had them! They answered all my questions, and affirmed my decision.

Xx

The Tommy's website says the pool temperature shouldn't exceed 32 degrees so you might want to be a little careful.

www.tommys.org/pregnancy-information/im-pregnant/exercise-in-pregnancy/swimming-pregnancy[/quote]
I don’t think I’ve ever swam in the U.K. in a pool that’s 32 degrees 😂. Even my heated outside lido is 20.

UncomfortableBadger · 08/01/2022 15:34

@nadgersbadgers I’m not sure yet - I’m erring towards doing so as if I’d done less research, I’d probably have gone home unjabbed and that’s just not right.

@mozzer12 So pleased your experience was more positive than mine Smile I went to a smaller pharmacy rather than a mass vaccination centre which I suspect was part of the problem.

I’m told that there’s a national advertising campaign starting tomorrow to promote the benefits of getting vaccinated during pregnancy. I just hope that this can help to dispel some of the myths and untruths.

Hi ladies - just checking in.
Haven't been feeling great past few days, went incredibly faint yesterday.
Think I've been dehydrated & the lack of food has taken its toll.
Feeling better today, been keeping my fluids up as much as possible & have been forcing myself to eat.
Mental health has been taking a bit of a dive too but again, think it's just been because of the above 😬

Bought my cotbed today - had seen it in Argos & was holding off & then it went out of stock 😩 But found it in Smyths for cheaper so decided just to get it! 🙈😂
Next big purchase will be the travel system!
Honestly so excited to start buying things in properly though, especially once I know babies sex 🥺🧡

Hope you're all well 💕

Hi ladies.

Haven't posted for weeks. Think it was back in November! Just read through all the messages since November.

Currently 13+4 and due on 12th july with baby no2. Daughter is 15months.

I've suffered with sickness since start of December and really had to fight my gp for antisickness. Finally got some on Monday after having to go home sick AGAIN!
Have been feeling better but today just feel a bit spaced out. Foggy/flight headed. did an LFT and it was negative.
Not much point to this post just a hi!
Was wondering if we could set up a private fb group? X

BabyBorn · 08/01/2022 20:14

Sorry to hear some of you have been feel rubbish recently.

I’ve been very emotional and teary today which is the first time it’s happened. Has a good cry and it made me feel so much better! I’m assuming it’s my hormones going into over drive. Been a little moody for days too.

Bought a Doppler and heard my baby’s heartbeat for the first time this evening ! Was so nice. Not sure why but our private scan and NHS 12 week scan, they just verbally told us there was a strong heartbeat and didn’t let us listen to it like they used to years ago 🤔

missv556 · 09/01/2022 06:17

@UncomfortableBadger sorry you had a bad experience with booster. I was in 2 minds about having mine but bit the bullet and had it Monday, also Pfizer. Had it the first 2 jabs and had no ill affects and none with this jab either. My arm was less sore and for a shorter time. I waited until post 12 weeks as well because I was nervous. Had a scan on Friday and baby was doing perfectly fine so I don't regret my decision at all.

laurenGame · 09/01/2022 06:20

@BabyBorn I cry at random times too out of nowhere. Had a massage recently and shed a couple of silent tears (about nothing) then the massage lady asked me to turn over as she was going to give me facial and I turned over with tears on my face. She must have thought wtf what a strange client. BlushAwkward !

laurenGame · 09/01/2022 06:31

@Mattieandmummy

Isn't there something about swimming pools that are too warm as well?
As long as temperature isn't higher than your body temperature (36-37 Celsius) then you're ok. But I'll be really wary of saunas and hot tubs and anything that can increase your body temp.

If your body temp Increases so does your heart rate and imagine what it's like for the little bean's heart rate - it's already beating way faster than yours.

I'd try not to overload the baby's heart. X

BabyBorn · 09/01/2022 07:05

@laurenGame good to know it’s quite normal to feel hormonal and teary then. How far along are you? I am 15 weeks 1 day and don’t remember it starting this early with my other two pregnancies. I remember the third trimester was quite emotionally draining.

everythingsnew · 09/01/2022 08:11

Hi everyone, just joining this thread, I hope that's ok - I have been reading since back in November but been quite anxious about everything, trying to stay positive though and hope for the best.. I had a private scan at 10 weeks and the NHS scan at around 13 weeks and they said all is well with a due date 8th July. We are so excited but also nervous - we have a lot to learn! Everyone's advice on here has been really helpful so far and it's good to see that other people are going through similar things with symptoms and everything!

Second starting a private Facebook group, that would be cool xx
WotsitMum · 09/01/2022 09:49

@Chh0412 im due 12th july too with baby no.2, baby no.1 is 14 months! I had to fight my gp for anti sickness tablets too, she was adamant my sickness would go after the first trimester but i had sickness all the way up to when i gave birth with my first so i know thats not the case!

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 09/01/2022 10:53

Well… we’re now 15+2, was going to wait till 20 weeks to buy the pram etc, but the one we wanted was on sale…. So… it arrives in a week. Eeek.

Not sure where on Earth we’re going to put it yet Grin

Hope3821 · 09/01/2022 11:40

Hi All, posted once or twice and enjoyed hearing everyone's different experiences, it's really helping me because I've not many people to chat to about it.

Have any mums had hospital & homebirth experience? I've been leaning towards homebirth, because I don't have access to midwife led & the maternity hospital doesn't offer birthing pools etc. It's very obstetric led.
But then I read an Instagram home birth story by a mother with 2 children already, who's also a highly qualified doc/physiotherapist who specialises in physio for pregnancy & post partum. Well I cried, freaked out & felt like what am I thinking! I'm like, maybe I should go elective cesarean?! Confused Always had a mild fear of childbirth which put me off the decision to try for many years. But last year I suffered a very labour like miscarriage in the house, contractions and everything with no help and I thought well if I can do that?
I'm so anxious about giving birth can you tell lol! Still to have our 13 week scan next week so don't even know if we're in the clear yet. This is some journey ladies. I'm so glad you're all here Smile

laurenGame · 09/01/2022 12:34

@BabyBorn I've started feeling emotional as soon as I got pregnant. I am normally reserved and all of a sudden I had an urge to call an ex friend and tell her everything I think (bad idea and I hate confrontation!)

I knew then something is different with me.
I now cry every time a drive alone in a car, I'm 15 weeks. It's quite a nice cry, like an emotional release Grin

Sorry but I'm so annoyed for you - denying anti sickness meds?? Why. Doesn't matter if it goes away after first semester - why do you have to suffer. I got great meds straight away and they've been a lifesaver.
A lot of us have full time jobs, needing to do presentations etc - I couldn't do it with my head down the toilet.

Chh0412 · 09/01/2022 12:58

My doctor kept saying about the evidence/studies.
I just fought my corner and say for me atm the benefits outway the risks.
I can't function without them I can't go to work or look after my 15month old! X
