@Elsols93 2 of my friends definitely had exactly that and were booked in for c-section pretty immediately. both of them it moved and they had lovely vaginal spontaneous births. So please don't worry :) glad you're feeling a bit better today, must have been a shock!

Capricorn8990 · 10/02/2022 10:26

I haven't yet sneezed and had a little bit of wee come out.. I'll look forward to that lol!

I am exhausted, worked 15 hour day on Tuesday. I think my work needs reminded that I am pregnant. I work in major crimes so can't just go home when the day ends if a job comes in!

naemates · 10/02/2022 12:21

I have an 18week appointment with a consultant tomorrow (red pathway 😱). Just wondered if anyone knows what the appointment would be about? Is it just to remind me I'm overweight??

Porridgeislife · 10/02/2022 15:08

Has anyone else’s boobs exploded in the second trimester? I’m 18w and they’ve grown a lot in the last week… my first set of cheapy maternity crop tops are now too tight Confused

KizboBaggins · 10/02/2022 18:19

@Porridgeislife yep, I'm almost 17 weeks and my itty bitties of over 16 years are ballooning. I'm thoroughly enjoying it haha. Shame they're going sideways though rather than creating any sort of cleavage Grin

I've been living in crop tops since conception too and they're starting to feel tight. Reluctant to buy new ones though!

CaptainCarp · 10/02/2022 22:57

I had a coughing fit earlier & i think a bit of wee came out Blush
Looks like i need to look up pelvic floor exercises!

My boobs seemed to get a lot bigger in 1st trimester but have settled down a bit now. I am wearing unwired bras though as they hurt after a day in underwired ones no matter which size i seem to buy

Well we had our 20 week scan today - baby Sauvignon all doing fab which is excellent, but I’ve got ever so slightly raised “high blood flow resistance” (?!)
From the sounds of it I’m at the lower end of what is worrying them, so it sounds like I just get a few extra scans thrown in, which I’m not too upset about!
Incredible to see how much the baby has changed from the 12 week scan though. Bones in the arm!, an entire spine that made them look like a mini dinosaur…!

KizboBaggins · 11/02/2022 06:30

@HotToddyColdSauvignon that sounds amazing! Apart from the high blood flow resistance of course. How many extra scans do you need for that? Did you find out baby's sex? Can't wait for our 20 week!

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 11/02/2022 07:51

They’re going to give us 4 extra scans between now and the birth, feel very safe and secure and fussed over which is very nice. The midwife did point out though that not many trusts do the ‘blood flow artery check something’ and if I was in a trust that didn’t do it, this 20 week scan would be it until birth! Once again the postcode lottery for health strikes… luckily in my favour this time, but it does seem very unfair for someone living 10 miles down the road who happens to be in the next trust along Sad

But yes, the scan was incredible. Lots of tears again (I still can’t really believe there’s a baby in there!)

And it’s a going to be a little girl Smile

KizboBaggins · 11/02/2022 08:33

@HotToddyColdSauvignon that's so interesting... Glad they've caught it for you though. I doubt they do it where I am... at my 16 week appt yesterday I asked the midwife about antenatal classes and she said "I don't know, you could google what you don't know about baby care" so that basically sums up my how it is in my area... She's not wrong but I felt a bit pushed aside when she said that.

Congratulations on your little girl!

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 11/02/2022 08:36

That’s a shame @KizboBaggins, it’s a pity the differences across the U.K. are so varied, you’d think we’d all be given similar help and support Sad

Mads96 · 11/02/2022 10:17

Just tested positive for covid and I am gutted. I've been so careful and now super anxious and worrying about baby 😞

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 11/02/2022 11:01

On no @Mads96

Hopefully you don’t feel too bad with it, maybe just give your midwife a call to reassure you

Coco9910 · 11/02/2022 13:12

@KizboBaggins no way I can’t believe they said that! Surely they have some info on hand for you! So bad! I was saying to my partner I feel like I have no info except for what I’ve found out myself. Like I feel clueless about everything. Like when do I start doing my birth plan? And I had no idea about pelvic floor exercises until I read on here!

@HotToddyColdSauvignon ahh amazing a little girl how lovely! Sorry to hear about the high blood flow but good that you are on the lower end! And extra scans is definitely a bonus!

SoMuch2Say · 11/02/2022 13:58

@Porridgeislife yessss! I haven’t been measured yet but I’d guess I’m up to a 36DD maybe an E from a 34C. I didn’t anticipate my boobs getting this big.

I’ve been putting off buying nursing bras incase they get any bigger but does anyone know if they’re likely to at this point (20 weeks)???

SPea · 11/02/2022 16:27

Hi all, hope you don't mind me joining you, I've been reading back on the past month or so and its really nice to see comments from people in the same situation and experiencing the same things as me! I'm 18-3 at the moment with a due date of 12th July. I had a mc at 11 wks in July last year so am very anxious this time round, thankfully over the first hurdle with both the 12 wk scan and heard the heartbeat at the 16 wk midwife appt (which was really lovely and unexpected!), but I'm now worrying again waiting for the 20 wk scan in a couple of weeks! hoping to start feeling some movement soon.

@Porridgeislife @SoMuch2Say I'm wondering the same thing, I feel its too early for a pregnancy bra, so have just bought a cup size up in my regular t-shirt bra, I've no idea if that's the right thing to do or not?!

@JJ1992 I saw your message about needing to redecorate your bedroom and converting your office for the baby, we're in exactly the same situation, I feel like we've outgrown this house, but need to make it work somehow! Have you managed to start redecorating?

ShellUK09 · 11/02/2022 17:38

Just wondering if people are still taking pregnancy vitamins after 12 weeks? I am nearly 18 weeks now and I asked my midwife about it at the 16 week appointment and she said it was up to me really, but that the main vitamin you need is vitamin D. I don't think I get all the nutrients I need from my diet and wondered if a normal multi vitamin would do, or even if continuing to take folic acid does any harm? Would appreciate hearing what others are doing. I've been continuing to take the seven seas pregnancy vitamins for now.

paintfairy · 11/02/2022 17:57

@ShellUK09 you can't take a normal vitamin as you can't have vitamin A. But you could just take what you feel you need. I asked my midwife today actually too, as I'm 16 weeks and read you maybe shouldn't take folic acid all the way through. But she said to keep on it. So I'm not sure what to do now! I agree I'll need some things though, even if I stop the pregnacare.

ShellUK09 · 11/02/2022 18:13

@paintfairy ah thanks, I had forgotten about vitamin A! Will have a think, I probably will just continue with the ones I have. It would be better if they made a pregnancy multi vitamin for after 12 weeks without folic acid so you had the option.

paintfairy · 11/02/2022 18:17

@ShellUK09 I know! I thought that. Would be so much easier.

WotsitMum · 11/02/2022 18:24

Came here to rant and get others opinions so sorry in advance if im rambling!

I got a letter in the post today saying my 20 week foetal anomaly scan has been changed. Same day and 15 minutes diffrence, no biggie. BUT its been changed to a diffrent department to the ultrasound training academy. So i assume it will be a student, i just think its roude as i was never asked if that will be okay, i had a negative experience with my first involving a student midwife, which if the mistakes werent made my birth would have had a very diffrent outcome. Im going to ring the department on monday and get them to explain to me more and see if they can move me back to the ushal place with a experienced sonographer, i know students need to learn but my anxiety levels are going through the roof after my previous experience with a student and with it beeing a big scan that detects very serious things, i wouldnt terminate over anything but would rather be prepared if you get what i mean

KizboBaggins · 11/02/2022 18:33

@Coco9910 same! I've never changed a nappy, don't really understand what "swaddle" means and I've held a baby maybe once in my life (and I was highly uncomfortable...)

MN is actually really helping, and I know there's so much information out there I could check out but I'm just gonna be overwhelmed. Maybe I'll just buy a book lol

KizboBaggins · 11/02/2022 18:35

@WotsitMum surely the student will be supervised by an experienced midwife? I don't think I'd be comfortable if they weren't!

KizboBaggins · 11/02/2022 18:35

*sonographer sorry not midwife

SamanthaVimes · 11/02/2022 20:29

@KizboBaggins @Coco9910 I got this book with my first. It’s written clearly so you can understand it when you’re really sleep deprived in the middle of the night! We did paid for antenatal classes too but it was nice to have this as a back up.
