@namechangeanonymous I don’t think you smell more (as in your smell the same to everyone else as you did before) but I think your own sense of smell improves in pregnancy so you can smell yourself more iyswim?
Smells that don’t bother me when not pregnant make me gag at the moment!

namechangeanonymous · 08/02/2022 21:32

@SamanthaVimes yes! I threw up in the loos at work last week as somebody had a particularly smelly lunch.

SamanthaVimes · 08/02/2022 21:42

@namechangeanonymous yes, I’ve been really funny with food smells lately

TMI following - changing DDs nappy which normally doesn’t bother me (and obviously happens a lot!) has me heaving, very unpleasant!

HopefulBeth · 08/02/2022 23:18

@namechangeanonymous hahaha I was just thinking this yesterday after catching a whiff of myself getting changed after work! I wasn't sure if I smell more, have a heightened sense of smell or was so tired in the morning I'd forgotten to put deodorant on! Glad it's not just me!

AppleTree16 · 09/02/2022 07:27

@paintfairy

Did anyone take their DH with them to their 16 week appointment? If they listen to the heartbeat then I thought it might be nice for him to come, but if they don't (no idea!) then he really doesn't need to be there. 🤣

As for telling people @OMallytheAlleyCat - I know exactly what people are like. If they know they think they can tell who they like. I therefore pretty much told no one. And even now only 7 people know (16 weeks). I need to tell work really though now. DH actually still has family members to tell, and I did warn him that they'll talk (despite him saying not to, as he wants to do it) so it's his own fault if that happens. 🙄

Yup my DH came and heard the heartbeat. It was lovely ❤️. They don’t let partners come to the booking in appointment where I am due to the DV check so he’s only had the scans experience so far. I think he was more excited about everything than I am 😅
missv556 · 09/02/2022 07:43

I have my partner come to scans but he doesn't come to any midwife appointments. I dont feel bad about him missing the heartbeat at my 16 week one because we had been for a private scan 2 days before and heard it for the first time together then. My mum did come with me though (she sat outside the room waiting cos we were going out afterwards) and the doppler was so loud that she heard it anyway so that was nice for her. I had to wait after my appointment to sort some stuff with the receptionist and I heard the doppler with the next woman that went in after me. Didnt realise they were so loud lol

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 09/02/2022 09:00

20 week anomaly scan tomorrow. 24 hours exactly away

I’m literally just staring at my laptop clock willing the time to hurry up. Not sure I’m going to get anything done today

Hope3821 · 09/02/2022 09:53
@Hope3821 are you sleeping with a pillow between your legs? I found it really helped with hip/back ache
Hi @SamanthaVimes Yes, one between my legs and one further up to cuddle (helps my growing boobs lol). My poor husband is losing pillows by the second lol! My weekly prenatal yoga classes help my hips a ton, but I need to start doing the exercises every day. I'll need to keep trying things to help my lower back though.

strawberrysummer19 · 09/02/2022 10:40

Just had my 16 week midwife and heard baby's heartbeat which was lovely - I filmed it for my fiancé - he was planning to come to it but he got covid last week.

All was ok and spent about half hour chatting and going through results and did the air carbon thing again

Counting down until gender scan in week and a half !

No news on my 20 week scan yet - midwife said to call the hospital if I haven't heard by 18 wks

X

Porridgeislife · 09/02/2022 10:42

@namechangeanonymous

TMI question - but does anybody think they smell more than normal?

Is that even a thing during pregnancy?

Yep. It was hot in the office yesterday and I really thought I was whiffy by the time I got home. I am NOT a whiffy person at all.
Elsols93 · 09/02/2022 15:51

Had my 20 Week scan today baby is healthy happy still a girl 💕 but iv been told I have placenta previa which can cause complications in third trimester if it doesn’t resolve itself which is highly doubtful as my cervix is completely covered by my placenta stops natural birth! so I’m upset and worried been told to take it easy as anything can trigger bleeding 🥲 has anyone had this or no anyone who has? X

Coco9910 · 09/02/2022 17:32

I had my 16 week midwife appointment today also and heard the heart beat. Was so nice to hear and a nice bit of reassurance between the 12 and 20 week scan 🥰

namechangeanonymous · 09/02/2022 18:21

Well the latest in my glowy beautiful pregnancy ..
Took the dog for a walk I threw up over the smell of its poo and then did a little wee.
Anybody else done anything rather glamorous today?

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 09/02/2022 18:26

I sneezed and some wee came out Blush think I need to start in those pelvic floor exercises ooops

KizboBaggins · 09/02/2022 18:49

@HotToddyColdSauvignon @namechangeanonymous glad it's not just me letting out a bit of wee when I have no business doing so... Three times in as many days.

Dread to think what's going to happen when I'm in the third trimester!

namechangeanonymous · 09/02/2022 18:56

Maybe we could all chip in and share an industrial amount of tanner lady :/

Effram · 09/02/2022 20:14

@Elsols93 literally everyone I know (probably 8-10 friends now) who's had placenta praaevia at their 20 week scan has had it completely move by 36, latest. Quite a few have even had their c-section date through and come to terms with that and then been quite floored when they'e been casually told oh no bother it's out hte way now!

So I would really, really try not to worry about it. xxxxx

SamanthaVimes · 09/02/2022 21:03

@namechangeanonymous @HotToddyColdSauvignon @KizboBaggins I’m also in the leaky wee club (was definitely worse when I had covid and was coughing all day but not completely gone away)
I’ve got some washable cloth panty liners that I wear when going out just in case it does happen it’s not so uncomfortable (turns out they’re useful for more than just periods) much more comfy than a disposable too.

Coco9910 · 09/02/2022 21:25

I’ve had a pain in my right thigh for the past few hours..comes and goes a bit. I’ve tried to google and it says it may be sciatica as the uterus can press on the nerves. Has anyone experienced anything like this? I’m 15+6.

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 09/02/2022 21:33

Thank goodness it’s not just me Grin

Keep forgetting to do those blasted pelvic floor exercises. I know everyone says do it when waiting for the kettle to boil but you have to remember to do them in the first place! Blush

Elsols93 · 10/02/2022 07:57

@Effram thank you for the reassurance just wasn’t expecting that yesterday- iv been told it’s completely covering and posterior placenta so may have a less of a chance of moving but iv researched and I feel a lot better now - the bleeding side just worries me but again not everyone has the bleeding so just need to relax aslong as baby is healthy ❤️ Also have to go back for a re scan as couldn’t see her heart which is nice as I will get to see her again within two weeks 💕 xxx

missv556 · 10/02/2022 08:26

I've also sneezed a couple of times and a bit of wee has come out. The glamour of pregnancy 🙈

Mattieandmummy · 10/02/2022 08:49

@Elsols93 I had placenta praevia with my first and it completely moved up by the time of my 35 week scan. Try not to worry too much. X

Evie345 · 10/02/2022 09:30

@HotToddyColdSauvignon I hadn’t been doing any pelvic floor exercises, never remembered to! My midwife suggested downloading NHS Squeezy for them. I did the other day, a bit miffed you have to pay for it! I’m sure there are free ones. But it’s really good, reminds you to do the exercises three times a day and is super easy to follow along.

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 10/02/2022 09:31

Thanks @Evie345 will give that a try!
