@Lianna93

Anyone else getting pelvic pain? I could swear someone's kicked me between the legs 😂 My stomach feels like it weighs an absolute ton right now too 😬
Yes me!! I swear I had it later on in my last pregnancy but going to mention it to my midwife this week x
OMallytheAlleyCat · 07/02/2022 19:38

Hi👋I'm new to this thread and 15 weeks today with first pregnancy.

Has anyone else this experience - you tell close friends and family pre-dating scan then after the scan they tell literally everyone without checking it's ok? Like they've just presumed it's ok?

My baby was in a weird position and they couldn't get blood out of me at the combined scan so no anomaly tests until 20 weeks...I told the ones who knew this but they still told everyone.

I don't know if I'm being overly sensitive. I do know I'll keep the labour/birth announcement much closer to my chest and be clearer about my boundaries going forward.

It's all a leaning curve the first time!

Lianna93 · 07/02/2022 19:40

@KizboBaggins 19 weeks tomorrow! Was getting some pains a week or so ago but it's just progressively gotten worse 😬

@Anon120 This is my first & genuinely thought I'd be a lot further along than this before getting the pains but honestly so uncomfortable right now.
Went to the shops with DH & I just gradually got slower & had a wee bit of a waddle by the time we got back to the car 🙈😂

DrPrincessFluffyToYou · 07/02/2022 19:50

@Lianna93 do you have your showers in the morning? I still vomit in the morning if I do anything before eating (or - like you - get in a car!) but otherwise I’m ok. Maybe have a snack before morning showers if you aren’t already?

I just felt the first proper kicks from the baby 🥰 I could feel them from the outside with my hand! I’m 17+0 exactly. Does make it feel a lot more real, was lovely

SamanthaVimes · 07/02/2022 21:04

@OMallytheAlleyCat you’re not being sensitive, it’s bloody annoying. My in laws have told people we specifically asked them not to (as we wanted to tell them ourselves).
I was really pissed off.

Evie345 · 07/02/2022 22:37

Hello ladies, thank you so much for the reassurance! I still have a dull ache but saw midwife today and it does indeed seem like it is round ligament pain like you’ve said @ChinChilly @paintfairy

@SamanthaVimes you were right, midwife was so lovely - she said I need to do a bit of physio and pelvic floor exercises. So hard to know what’s normal and not when it’s the first time :) How are you getting on second time round?

@UncomfortableBadger the dull ache sounds the same. How long did it last for you? How far along are you now? Hope it’s passed for you and you’re feeling okay!

@OMallytheAlleyCat I don’t think that you’re being overly sensitive at all. I get that loved ones are excited but it’s not their news to share! Good idea to be clear about boundaries going forward.

Mattieandmummy · 08/02/2022 05:04

@OMallytheAlleyCat you're not being overly sensitive at all, the exact same thing happened to me with my first. It's hugely annoying and we made sure we were really careful about who we told what from then on.

missv556 · 08/02/2022 05:56

@Lianna93 yes to pelvic pain. I get it if I walk too much which I did yesterday. I had my whooping cough vaccine then went shopping with my mum then walked back from my parents house with my fiance after he finished work. Once I was in for the evening, it felt like someone had taken a baseball bat and smashed my pelvis to pieces.

@ChinChilly yep I'm at Shirley Road too lol small world indeed.

Is anyone else experiencing tingling/numbness in the hands while sleeping? Something that started in the 2nd trimester for me and its getting worse, really affecting my sleep quality, i have to wake to change sides quite often so my sleep is very broken atm

ShellUK09 · 08/02/2022 07:27

@missv556 not getting tingly hands however I am having really disturbed sleep as well. I find I can only sleep on my left side but if I move to the right I get a tingly numb right arm. I also seem to need to get up a few times a night for the toilet, and sometimes just cannot get back to sleep. So getting the practice of staying up all night in early anyway!

missv556 · 08/02/2022 07:34

@ShellUK09 I can go hours during the day without needing the loo then as soon as I go to bed I have to get up multiple times a night to pee. This kid hates me I swear 😂

KizboBaggins · 08/02/2022 08:29

@missv556 did you have the whooping cough vaccine at your 16 week midwife appt? I've got mine on Thursday and assume I will have it then. Did you get to hear the heartbeat? I don't think my midwife will do that, but wish they did! Seems like an age since my 12 week scan

ShellUK09 · 08/02/2022 08:37

@missv556 oh same here, I hardly seem to go during the day then at night my bladder seems to want to explode! It's really annoying now!

@KizboBaggins I've had my 16 week appointment and I didn't get my whooping cough vaccine then, must happen at the next one for me. She checked the heart beat which I wasn't expecting but it seems to be different in different areas.

NamelessBaby1 · 08/02/2022 08:58

Ahh I'm the same with now having to get up to pee in the night which I've never had to before, and it then takes me so long to get back to sleep! It's not fun, lol. I've always been a side sleeper and sometimes get the tingly/ numb hand thing though, it's annoying @missv556!

CaptainCarp · 08/02/2022 09:41

I phoned my doctors to get ny whooping cough vaccine once I was over16 weeks & just booked it with the nurse.
It was a combined 1 with diphtheria & tetanus so my arm / shoulder sore & heavy for a few days. (Similar thing happened the last time I had a tetanus booster).

I used to pee a lot in the night during my 1st trimester but its settled down a bit. I did have to get up at 4am this morning.

I've also suffered from numb arms/hands whilst sleeping for years so not sure its got worse!

@OMallytheAlleyCat god I have the worst MIL she told literally everyone on her side before my scan!! knowing how worried I was hadn’t even told certain close family myself , she’s a limelight stealer too didn’t even say congratulations till about 4 weeks after we told her .... sorry for the vent she just pees me off 🤣😂

20 weeks today baby’s in her routine of kicking and sleeping I love it my partner keeps missing the kicks lol , have my 20 weeks scan tomorrow then I’m going to book my 4d for around 28 weeks such a lovely scan that is ❤️

Been busy decorating my DS room safari theme so he don’t feel left out when we start on nusery, he’s 3 next week and I’m sure he’s gona be in for a big shock when she arrives 😂

Hope everyone is well ❤️

Xxxx

Lianna93 · 08/02/2022 11:02

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou Doesn't seem to matter what time of day I shower or if I've ate - think it's just the heat that sets me off 😬😂 Started opening the window now which helps slightly but baths definitely seem to be better for me 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

@missv556 The pain is unreal! I was saying to DH I may need to reevaluate how long I work for. I had planned on using 2 weeks of annual leave at the start of June & then start my maternity midway through June but may need to look at putting holidays in for May and finishing up in April if this pain continues 😩

@OMallytheAlleyCat Can completely relate - My MIL told all her side before I even got to tell my own parents 🙃

missv556 · 08/02/2022 12:40

@KizboBaggins I had to book the vaccine separately, the midwife doesn't do it. And I did get to listen to the heartbeat. Wasn't expecting it, didn't know they did that tbh. I know nothing lol completely clueless about this whole process as its my first kid

Hope3821 · 08/02/2022 15:10

@OMallytheAlleyCat I'm in such a weird position with our news. My MIL knows but hasn't told any of their side of the family. We live right next door, so everytime we go over I feel like I have to pretend nothing is happening, it's so weird and frustrating. I feel like whatever way it goes, as pregnant women we're not allowed to be 'in charge' of our own story, it's mental!🙈

Getting pretty stiff and sore hips at night. Did some prenatal yoga and that really helped, but no matter what I can't get rid of my lower back ache. Only 16+4, so I'm worried how my back is going to cope when I'm bigger 🥴

paintfairy · 08/02/2022 17:07

Did anyone take their DH with them to their 16 week appointment? If they listen to the heartbeat then I thought it might be nice for him to come, but if they don't (no idea!) then he really doesn't need to be there. 🤣

As for telling people @OMallytheAlleyCat - I know exactly what people are like. If they know they think they can tell who they like. I therefore pretty much told no one. And even now only 7 people know (16 weeks). I need to tell work really though now. DH actually still has family members to tell, and I did warn him that they'll talk (despite him saying not to, as he wants to do it) so it's his own fault if that happens. 🙄

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 08/02/2022 17:09

Yes @paintfairy, DH has been to all my midwife apps so far, and the scans, he’s more excited than I am Grin

We got to listen to the heartbeat at the 16 week, she just told me to hop on the bed and started doing it, I didn’t have to ask

SamanthaVimes · 08/02/2022 17:16

@Hope3821 are you sleeping with a pillow between your legs? I found it really helped with hip/back ache

paintfairy · 08/02/2022 17:21

@HotToddyColdSauvignon he's been to my scans and consultant appointment but I didn't take him to the first midwife appointment, and I'm glad I didn't as it would have been pointless. But if we get to listen to the heartbeat it wouldn't be. I'm hoping we do!

CaptainCarp · 08/02/2022 18:32

DP has been to all scans & midwife appointments but his work is flexible so happy for him to have the time off.

I didn't have to ask to listen to the heartbeat. Midwife just said "if you want hop on the bed & we can try to listen to the heartbeat". She did warn me that we might not get to hear it & not to worry if we didn't.

OP posts:
KizboBaggins · 08/02/2022 19:14

@missv556 hmm maybe I should ask the midwife on Thursday if they don't do it... she told me I'll get it but didn't say whether they do it automatically or I have to book it.

Oh and I'm right there with you - I all have no idea what I'm doing in any of this! I hope I get to hear the heartbeat but think not all midwives do it. Guess I'll find out soon!

namechangeanonymous · 08/02/2022 20:52

TMI question - but does anybody think they smell more than normal?

Is that even a thing during pregnancy?
