@Andariego If you like the river island maternity jeans there is a few in the sale on very they had a 2 pack for £37 down from £70

NamelessBaby1 · 24/01/2022 22:58

@namechangeanonymous I'm 15+3 today too! I think it still seems really early, but I guess it's not really...

I'm hoping to have as natural birth as possible, but I'm slightly beyond the average age and weight so I'm fully anticipating things will change last minute and I'm quite happy just to play things by ear. Still don't fancy spending much time in hospital either way though!

namechangeanonymous · 25/01/2022 06:42

Would also recommend mama super skinny jeans from h and M too down to £10 I've lived in mine.

strawberrysummer19 · 25/01/2022 07:49

I'm 14wks today and the last few days been feeling a tad more 'normal' sicky feeling is sort of there at times but definitely way better
My skin even feels better
I go to the toilet more regular so have less constipation
Less bloated
Wouldn't say I have more energy like my app says but it says this is all normal
My appetite has definitely increased I'm always hungry and planning my next meal!! I had bad sickness before so wasn't enjoying food
I know my app says this is normal but then that makes me worry a bit
Anyone else had this around 14wks?
X

missv556 · 25/01/2022 09:11

@Andariego hello, nice to have another brummie here lol

@strawberrysummer19 my appetite has increased as well the past week or so. Having lunch in the middle of the day now which I never used to do. Friday night I was ravenous, I was getting hangry when my fiance was taking too long to dish up dinner 😅 and then I ate like I've never eaten food before, cleaned my plate which I hardly ever do. If I'm hungry I eat. I sometimes wonder if I'm even eating enough cos I do go several hours without, like 6-7 hours sometimes cos I don't feel hungry and when I force myself to eat it makes me feel crappy. I ate a bag of crisps on Saturday just to say I'd eaten something cos I was out shopping with my mum and my belly felt fucked for ages, I had to ditch her and go home in the end

"have worked for your employer continuously for at least 26 weeks continuing into the ‘qualifying week’ - the 15th week before the expected week of childbirth"

Hopefully one of you will be able to answer this question... is this 26 weeks total or 26 weeks plus 15 so 41 weeks with employer? Guess who started a new job the day she found out she was expecting!!

WotsitMum · 25/01/2022 09:40

@namechangeanonymous you wount be entitled to maternity pay from your employer but if you were working previoustly and paying tax you would be entitled to maternity allowance. I had a simular situation with my first, 5 months of trying, we stopped trying as i went for a new job and bam i fell pregnant!

MrsKirb · 25/01/2022 09:46

@strawberrysummer19 I feel like I'm always hungry! I know we don't need any extra calories at this point and I've been told to watch my weight gain as I already have a high BMI but what are you supposed to do when you're hungry!?
I've started having lunch at like 11 then something small at around 3/4 then dinner/tea at 6ish. I found when I had lunch at 12ish then dinner at 6ish I was so hungry by 6, I was starting to feel really sick so I've stocked up on breakfast bars and pasta n sauce sachets for something quick and easy. I dread to imagine what they'll say next time I'm weighed 😂

Has anyone decided on a pushchair yet? I've been looking at loads, really don't want to spend £1k+ when I know I'll want a more lightweight stroller type thing by the end of the year.

Lianna93 · 25/01/2022 10:18

Morning ladies!
17 weeks today, found out on Saturday we're having a girl 🥰 DH is absolutely over the moon & is so excited to be a 'girl dad' 😂
I was so unwell last week that I had to take time off work. Spoke to my doctor, she said I've definitely been dehydrated & it sounds as if I caught norovirus 😬
Feeling more myself this week but have been signed off work for 2 weeks to allow me to rest up.

@MrsKirb Ive been looking at Smyths at their travel systems, hoping to get out to one of their stores soon so I can see them in person before committing to buying one.

namechangeanonymous · 25/01/2022 10:25

Yep we were trying for 7 years. Sods law right!!

MrsKirb · 25/01/2022 10:38

@Lianna93 I went to one briefly after Xmas and I did like the look of the Panorama XT one which is under £300. There wasn't an isofix base which went with the car seat so it put me off that one. I didn't have a good look, I was just popping in but might give it another go.

missv556 · 25/01/2022 10:50

Has anyone had the whooping cough vaccine yet? I remember my midwife said it's offered from 16 weeks and I'm a few days away from that and I'm seeing her next Tuesday. Will she mention it again then? Will the jab be offered with her or do I have to go elsewhere for it?

Effram · 25/01/2022 10:58

@WotsitMum My first was 6lb12 at 36 weeks and my second was 11lb4 at 41+3!

@Hope3821 Exciting to see another homebirth plan :)

@laurenGame I really recommend those books I suggested to @Capricorn8990 . Obviously things can and do go wrong and tearing can happen - but it doesn't have to be awful and I think it can be helpful to assume everything will be fine, but be informed and prepared for divergence from the plan! I had birth preferences (as I thought of them) rather than a birth plan, so it didn't feel like if one thing went wrong it was out of the window, I could still meet my other intentions, if that makes sense! and the books really helped me consider outcomes/scenarios I wouldn't have otherwise thought of.

Hope3821 · 25/01/2022 11:57

@Andariego @MollyRover thanks so much! I think I'll just go ahead and book at the end of the month (so expensive yikes!) and even if I can't get to the test I'll have a good lot of learning done. You're right, who knows how I'll be planning my daily life afterwards!

Found the H&M maternity mama jeans on sale in my local H&M, but will have to wait till payday! Hope they're still there! Grin

Effram · 25/01/2022 12:01

@missv556 you've just reminded me I need to book mine! at my 16 week appt the midwife just said to book it with my GP. They do also run some drop in clinics at the hospital for it but it's easier for me to go to GP with an appt.

HopefulBeth · 25/01/2022 12:17

@Hope3821 hi! I've been having driving lessons for a couple of months and have booked my test...the closest I could get was April though and I'll be 30 weeks by then! So I'm desperate to pass first time because won't get the chance to do it again before baby is here. I'd recommend booking your theory test and getting the theory 4-in-1 app - it has all the questions and you'll pass for sure. Then you won't have to be on the waiting list for that still once you're ready for your practical test! Good luck with lessons 😊

HopefulBeth · 25/01/2022 12:19

I've started looking at prams, car seats, travel systems etc too but honestly have no idea where to start! I don't even know what shops you can go to where you can see them in person these days 😂 does anyone who's more organised than me/has already had a baby got any advice or recommendations?

MrsCtobe91 · 25/01/2022 12:20

Afternoon ladies. I haven't posted in here in a long while. Hope you're all doing well. Im 14+5 now. Can't believe how fast it's going. Im so excited to start feeling movements and find out what we're having.

Anywho, do any of you lovely ladies have any advice on what bras are best? Im spilling out of mine but struggling to find any that look decent that i can wear til i don't need them anymore. And it's been years since my last pregnancy so can't remember what i had back then 😂.

SamanthaVimes · 25/01/2022 13:26

I quite like my uppababy cruz pushchair, it’s still going strong. We had the carry cot to start with and it’s safe for overnight sleep which was a bonus a few times.

We have a cybex cloud z car seat which I liked because the base swivels so it’s easier to get them in and out. DD is just starting to outgrow it so it’ll be freed up for number 2 before they arrive.

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 25/01/2022 13:34

@HopefulBeth we went to a “big” John Lewis a few weeks ago, the sales staff in that department were so incredibly helpful and knowledgable, especially as DH and I were asking what must have seemed like completely newbie obvious questions BlushGrin

We went for a smaller Icandy in the end, seemed to tick all the boxes and most importantly it folds down really really flat which is helpful.
Mamas and Papas big stores also have a good range of prams etc to try out and push around. I agree I really miss the fact that now I’m finally pregnant there isn’t the mother care equivalent where it’s all under one roof!

NamelessBaby1 · 25/01/2022 14:11

@MrsCtobe91 I caved in and paid a visit to M&S to get a couple of wireless bras the other day as my boobs were starting to get really painful being squished into my existing ones! Hoping the fact they are wireless allow a bit of leeway - and they had some nice ones albeit I'm not used to wireless so feel I've lost a bit of my usual shape... Won't be the only time I feel that over the next few months I'm sure, lol.

Coco9910 · 25/01/2022 14:12

@missv556 my midwife said I’ll have my whooping cough at my 16 week appointment, but I will be 15+6 on the day so hopefully they still let me have it!

deliwoman1 · 25/01/2022 15:29

I'm so glad people have brought up the Whooping Cough vaccine! It wasn't mentioned in my 16 week appointment, and though I've got my scan at 20+1, my next midwife appointment isn't until 25 weeks... Confused Seems weird the midwife wouldn't want to talk over the scan! I think they say to do it between 16-32 weeks but I reckon I'll just book myself in with the GP and get it out of the way soon.

@HopefulBeth I'm pretty set on an Uppababy Vista V2 carrycot & pushchair, if I can stretch to it. I like that its convertible for two kids because I'm hoping to add a second soon-ish after my first thanks to my old age Smile. It has a huge basket, and you can stick a carseat on it (only some models are compatible). Plus the carrycot is suitable for overnight sleeps, and the frame will fold up with the pushchair attached. It's on the bigger side, I think, so that'll be a consideration for car boot/storage/public transport. We live in London but also spend quite a bit of time in the countryside with family, so need something a bit sturdier for that.

I think though, so if size is an issue and you're not bothered about using a system for two, I quite liked the BabyZen YoYo. Looks very easy and nippy for a city baby!

Of course they're all eye-wateringly expensive Blush

deliwoman1 · 25/01/2022 15:36

@Hope3821 @HopefulBeth @MollyRover I'm also learning to drive! Was petrified of not being able to when our daughter arrives. I've had lessons before and am kicking myself that I didn't follow through. Good luck with it!

I'm having a total mare trying to get a test though. Nothing available at all near me. My instructor says its because of covid. Currently slightly panicked about not being able to at least try for it before my due date!

Fizzybubblegumbottles · 25/01/2022 15:43

Ive gone for a bugaboo bee 6 with a carrycot and car seat bundle which was on offer in grey. I had a cameleon 3 with my last 5 years ago- I still have it so will be using that now and again. They last so well just cost a lot!
