@PeeAche wow 20kg is massive! We had Costa delivery for breakfast after we burnt the sausages we were cooking as our Sunday morning treat 😂 (dogs appreciated the burning though!)

laurenGame · 16/01/2022 12:07

@unknownscot kudos to you for not finding out the sex until you give birth, I love the idea but just couldn't wait that long myself.

I've seen a video of a woman giving birth and as she lifts her baby she looks at her genitals and hugs her daughter and starts crying - you realise she didn't know the gender/sex until now, and it's just the most beautiful heartwarming watch Smile

laurenGame · 16/01/2022 12:15

@Clomid1 I thought I was the one who is not buying anything until 32-36 weeks 😬
I just can't bring myself to buy it now, seems like birth is aaaages away and time will drag on for even longer

We're also not doing a baby room Blush maybe we're mad but we have a big house and Im just constantly "floating" during the day either in the office or lounge or kitchen or media etc. - feels like baby will be all over the house, too.

Lostintranslatio · 16/01/2022 12:24

@laurenGame we are not doing babyoom either, basically because there is no more room. We have a very generous 2bed apartment, but my partner has a son and the age gap is going to be very big to make them share the room. At some point we'll move out to a bigger place but for now she will stay in our bedroom. So trying to minimize shopping to the minimum needed 😅

Clomid1 · 16/01/2022 13:05

@laurenGame @Lostintranslatio yep not having a baby room either.

So my thoughts are I’ll get hospital essentials (clothes, blankets, nappies etc) a bedside crib, a car seat set at 36 weeks then after baby is here I’ll order bigger stuff like cot, pram etc.

Rolledthedice · 16/01/2022 13:33

@laurenGame @Lostintranslatio and @Clomid1 Glad to hear I’m not the only one not having a baby room! We do have a second bedroom but it’s where my other half’s stuff is and also a workspace. I’ve been googling to see how people split rooms that have dual purpose, as there will be a cot in there after 6 months, but it will also continue to be used as an adult bedroom / work area. We didn’t design our house with 3 people in mind 🙈

@destiEos haha yes my belly looks like I’ve been scoffing too many hot chocolates (probably because it’s true) 😂

Olive60 · 16/01/2022 13:50

Also no baby room here! Which is also the reason for buying the tuitti bambino Cozee XL crib which extends from birth-2years+. We have a 3 bed but one DD who's here permanently and 3 StepDDs so already not enough room! Our aim is to move by the time the new baby is 2-3 years.

MrsNT · 16/01/2022 14:15

@rolledthedice our spare room is also a work from home station so it can be used for 6 months to an yr until baby needs to move to bigger cot but havent thought about how to work around it yet. Unlsss baby sleeps in my room during day time while that room is being used for work? And night time in that room whem baby is older

Baby will be in our room for atleast a yr so until then no issues. After that will have to see

Baby room 😂

Due June 2022 (thread six)
Lostintranslatio · 16/01/2022 14:35

@destiEos 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I'm not stressing about the baby in our room for a year or a bit longer. The only thing we need to get for her is a chest of drawers (I tried to make room in our closet but it was impossible). The cot will be my DSS's cot, we only have to get a new mattress for it.

destiEos · 16/01/2022 14:41

@Lostintranslatio Yeah, same - my mum has actually dug out my old cot! I'm pretty keen on getting a snuzpod for by-the-bed to start with and 'luckily' we're the downstairs of a conversion, so no upstairs to worry about for moving baby around! Although a long narrow corridor from front bedroom to lounge-kitchen. I fluctuate between "We'll make do" and "Buy everything"Smile

ChildOfFriday · 16/01/2022 15:27

I was definitely feeling fatter/more bloated but I wasn't sure if that was the baby or just eating too much in general! DH didn't think I had a bump yet but I saw a friend I hadn't seen for a while this weekend and she said she thinks I have a bump and you can tell that I'm pregnant, so I'm blaming the baby Grin

Prema112 · 16/01/2022 15:41

We didn't find out the gender with our son and it was really really special to find out when he was born. I actually forgot to look for the first 30 seconds!

We will find out this time as DH has a preference for a girl and we don't want any trace of disappointment at the birth so best to find out now and deal with any disappointed feelings way before the birth. I can't WAIT to know! I'll get sonographer to write it down and put it in an envelope so we can find out together since he won't be at scan.

Also no baby room here- we have a 2 bed flat. Wondering if we can put baby in with DS when they are 1, he will be 7... Could work?? Maybe 😬

Prema112 · 16/01/2022 15:42

I seem to be gaining quite a bit of weight... almost a stone since pre-pregnancy, anyone else??

ChildOfFriday · 16/01/2022 15:44

@Lostintranslatio I'm a bit behind in the thread but we're having a little boy.

Congratulations to everyone who has had good news in their 20 week scan Smile I haven't had a date through for mine yet so I think I'll give them a ring tomorrow.

Lostintranslatio · 16/01/2022 15:49

@Prema112 I shared room with my brother (6 years younger than me) until I left home for college 😅😅😅

Prema112 · 16/01/2022 15:51

@Lostintranslatio Good to hear it can work! (I assume you're still on speaking terms?! 😂)

Lostintranslatio · 16/01/2022 16:41

@Prema112 We are! 😂😂😂

Rolledthedice · 16/01/2022 17:10

@Prema112 yes I’ve gained about 9 pounds, but I guess it also depends on your starting weight too? I’d lost weight due to illness pre-pregnancy so now I weigh what I probably would have done had I not had to give up gluten/dairy/sugar for 4 months beforehand! I’m back to my old food habits so the strict diet’s gone, and I always eat more in winter anyway! 🙈

mrkb · 16/01/2022 17:25

I've put on a stone almost exactly since pre-pregnancy and don't really think i look that pregnant but I can definitely feel a bump!

We're not having a baby room. We live in a 1 bed flat at the moment so don't have a choice in the matter!

Also going to find the sex out at our scan tomorrow - can't wait and think it's going to make the whole thing feel much more real!

MrsTwentyNine · 16/01/2022 18:07

Evening everyone
18+4 and I can't say I've felt any obvious bubbles / popping either except random muscle stretching type feeling but that can't be it? I have a posterior placenta confirmed by private scan too!! Anyone else with me ? Sad

Clomid1 · 16/01/2022 18:10

@MrsTwentyNine i get that pulling feeling too. It kind of feels a bit too painful to be described as a flutter so I assumed that was not it.

I’ve woken up with a stitch today on my left side. It’s excruciatingly painful. Cannot do much, can’t walk around or even sit up properly 😫 I wish it would go away

MrsTwentyNine · 16/01/2022 18:22

Sorry to hear that @Clomid1 ! Hope that goes away soon :(

I agree about the pulling feeling too...but then I read on babycentre maybe that could be it ?! I am not sure...

How far along are you ? I keep losing track as I don't get time to check thread regularly! Sorry! :/

ChildOfFriday · 16/01/2022 18:41

@MrsTwentyNine @Clomid1 I'm 18+6 today and I'm pretty similar to you- I'm not sure I've felt anything that I can definitely say is the baby, but I have felt a pulling sort of feeling.

Hope your stitch gets better @Clomid1!
