Sounds about right. I think I'm 24, 28 and 32 so far. But may have more because fibroids mean they can only measure growth through a scan.

Matilda30 · 12/01/2022 10:40

When did people get their letters for their 20 week scan? I'm due 25/6 but not had mine yet. Also, wondered if anyone had been referred to physio for pgp and how long it took, thanks!

TTCjourney2021 · 12/01/2022 10:45

All must be different, mine are 30, 33, 36 and 39 x

GrowBabyGrow · 12/01/2022 11:27

@Matilda30 I'm due 28/6 so just a few days after you! My scan letter came through about a week after my 12 week scan. I think @PeeAche had to chase the hospital for her scan booking so best to ring them to make sure you haven't been missed off the list.

InvisibleDragon · 12/01/2022 11:36

Another useful way of dismissing anxious thoughts - channel Winnie the Pooh (see picture).

I think my 20 week scan etc were booked in when I had my booking appointment, which seems very efficient. Got a letter about it before Christmas and it's not until the end of January!

@GrowBabyGrow thank you. My midwife called them on 4/1 and they said it hadn't been sent out because of Xmas/bank hols etc but I was on the list. Frustrating that I still don't have it though.

Kittycat2022 · 12/01/2022 11:45

Ladies can I ask a question about movements? Its not something I’m panicking about (can you believe it Grin) but I’m a FTM. I’m 19+1 and I would say I started to feel little flutters about 2 weeks ago, I’ve started to have more over the last few days but its still only a handful of times. Do movements start out slow and then gradually become more frequent/stronger? xx

Prema112 · 12/01/2022 11:58

@Kittycat2022 Movements can be very sporadic this early. I have days where I feel baby less, generally you'd expect the movements to become stronger as baby gets bigger but they have a lot of space in there and can turn so all the kicks are towards your back and you won't feel them. I don't think you're meant to start monitoring them until 28 weeks. Mine are mostly in my pelvis as baby seems to love sitting on my cervix 🙄

fpeg · 12/01/2022 12:01

@Kittycat2022 I'm 20 weeks today and it's been very intermittent for me but over the last week I would say I've experienced something daily, last night they had a right dance! I felt my first movements at about 17 weeks and expected it to just get stronger each day, but it by and large has stayed at a flutter up until now, with the occasional definite poke. Last night was the first night that I got multiple pokes over a prolonged period, very quiet again this morning. Others on here have also reported intermittent fluttering and the books seem to suggest that it's normal with baby only properly getting into a reliable pattern at 28 weeks, which is when they tell you to start counting the kicks. Hope this helps 😊

PeeAche · 12/01/2022 12:06

@Matilda30 I did indeed get forgotten and had to give hospital a prod. It can happen!

Just had my whooping cough and I'm one of the unlucky losers who has side effects. 😂 Feeling like such a wimp. No side effects with my flu, my booster etc. but whooping cough has knocked me for six. Wtf, whooping cough? 😂

ChildOfFriday · 12/01/2022 12:07

I'm 18+2 today and a bit worried as I'm not sure I've felt the baby move yet. We saw him moving on my scan yesterday though, and I wasn't really thinking about it until yesterday when I found out I was further along than we thought! Do you definitely know what it is when you feel it?

Matilda30 · 12/01/2022 12:14

Thanks peeps, I've called and found out my scan date!

I haven't felt movements but midwife thinks placenta is at front so that's worth considering. But always worth checking with midwife/mat unit if concerned- they're always lovely about it

Prema112 · 12/01/2022 12:16

@ChildOfFriday If he's moving on the scan then dont worry! The first movements are hard to diagnose, mine were like twitches which could just have easily have been muscle spasms

Coffeepants · 12/01/2022 12:38

Would you believe I had never eaten 2 min noodles before this? I had this craving but find them better spruced up with a bit of extra spice, chopped coriander and cheese mixed in.

Also found a really easy recipe that I have been making at least once a week. Am a bit off chicken at the moment so can happily just go veggie. Share your favorites with me too.

ChildOfFriday · 12/01/2022 12:40

Thanks @Prema112 and @Matilda30- hopefully I'll feel him soon!

Clueless22 · 12/01/2022 13:35

@ChildOfFriday I'm 18w 4d and not yet felt anything, I'm a FTM so not really sure what it feels like so don't think I have anyhow. Midwife said it's too early too worry about.
Can't wait to start feeling them though 😌

PeeAche · 12/01/2022 13:37

@ChildOfFriday I'm about the same as you and I also haven't felt any movement.

My midwife said if I'm feeling anxious, I can give her a call for an extra dopplering anytime. (She'd rather that than buying my own). Perhaps yours would accommodate that for you.

At my last appointment (with Doppler) the midwife kept "losing" baby because they were so active. I think it just takes some time to feel some of our babies. Please try not to worry! And please know that you aren't alone. I'm right here too and so are many others. ❤️

Remember, we have a long way to go and there will be lots of moments along the way where we won't feel movement and none of us can sustain anxiety for that long. Practice your calm thoughts!xxx

MrsNT · 12/01/2022 13:42

@childoffriday inital movements do feel like gas in the tummy. So its very hard to differentiate whether its gas or baby. Plus is you have anterior placenta (absolutely normal) where placent is towards tummy then in early days movements are less noticeable...tbis is from what ive read on mumsnet and elsewhere

I don’t think I’ve felt anything I could definitely say was baby yet either. Makes me feel better to know it’s not just me!

In other news after days and days of trying to get through on the phone to book my 20 week ultrasound I FINALLY got through… and it’s not for ages! I’ll be 23 weeks! Does that matter? Gutted I have to wait that long to be honest. Need to find some patience!

And @Coffeepants these look amazing! I’m usually an instant ramen or super noodles kind of gal. The shame.

JAR1981 · 12/01/2022 13:50

@CurryandSnuggle thanks for the reassurance on the bath situ. I will also have an internal scan to check my cervix on Friday (lucky me!) along with my 20-week scan given I had treatment about 15 years ago for an abnormal smear. If that’s looking good it will hopefully set my mind at ease.

@Kittycat2022 I think your movements sound pretty normal. Mine started about three weeks ago and like @Prema112 felt like little twitches. I now have jabs and pokes every day (DH can feel and I can see them sometimes too). They usually come in a little burst (from 2-3 pokes up to 5 mins of dancing) but this can be every couple of hours or like yesterday only after lunch and dinner. The fact that everyone on here seems to be intermittent at this stage gives me confidence not to worry. @ChildOfFriday I was completely on flutter alert so no idea if I would have noticed had I not known I was pregnant at first. No mistaking now though I would be very concerned with what was wrong if I wasn’t pregnant, but that’s at almost 20 weeks!

PeeAche · 12/01/2022 13:54

Can't stop eating tinned spaghetti. When I'm not eating tinned spaghetti, all I can think about is tinned spaghetti.

It doesn't matter whether they're hoops. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Rolledthedice · 12/01/2022 14:30

@ChildOfFriday I’m same due date as you and a FTM with anterior placenta so not felt anything yet. But as everyone points out, this is totally normal! If anything I count myself lucky to not have constant twinges etc as I just go about my normal day without thinking about baby. My friend had her first baby with anterior placenta and only felt him kick in week 19 while on a night shift. Hopefully we will all start to feel movements soon. :)

PurpleMoon12 · 12/01/2022 15:10

My initial movements feel like little air bubbles popping inside me. Not distracting or jabby but just enough to randomly know they are there. I love it! I am 19 weeks tomorrow though, so maybe I'll feel more soon

pregnancydiaries · 12/01/2022 16:25

Ladies looking for a bit of advice. I’m in triage atm waiting to be seen as I’ve had this sudden very severe sharp pain start in my lower right hand side, sort of just up from where my ovary is? Anyway, I know the doctor will probably want to do an abdominal exam and I’m so worried about them poking and prodding my tummy, tell me that’s totally safe and fine?xx
