@Clueless22 no not at all, I had nothing and then got a really unmistakable kick at 17+6 and ever since! Usually from around 5pm, helps if I have a hand on my stomach

Olive60 · 08/01/2022 16:19

So partner tested positive Wednesday and my daughter today. I've tested negative on lateral flows but I feel so rough! My whole body aches so I'm expecting the pcr to be positive. I know some of you have had it please reassure me its going to be OK and baby will be fine!? I have no upcoming appointments until Feb. Should I still inform the MW?

Prema112 · 08/01/2022 16:28

@Olive60 Oh no sorry to hear that! Yes definitely inform midwife, you might get put on blood thinners. I think a few have had it on here and everyone seems to have recovered well, I had it in Nov and all is fine with baby x

PeeAche · 08/01/2022 16:50

@Olive60 I've just recovered! I've had it twice (and I'm triple jabbed!)
I did feel rough but I'm better now. No confirmation about baby yet but, HG continues, bump has popped and is growing by the day. I'll be dopplered on Tuesday at which point I can reassure you further.

Lemsips are not a good idea but paracetamol is fine (and surprisingly effective when you have no other choices!) Go to bed. That's an order!

Feel better soon, girl. Everything is going to be fine.xxx Thanks

rathernotshare · 08/01/2022 17:22

@Olive60 I left a message with the midwives as no one answered but they never got back to me! I have heard they will only put you on blood thinners if you are at a higher risk of blood clots anyway (high BMI/smoker etc)

The worst day I had was 2 days before I tested positive, after that I drastically improved every day, only thing is I'm still knackered. I've had no jabs, no covid and had had surgery 5 days before catching it. Not seen baby since but she is kicking away 🙂

RoseValleyRambles · 08/01/2022 22:39

I've just had an admin evening! Decided on a crib (snuzpod 3), ordered reusable wipes while there's a deal on at cheeky wipes, found some newborn reusable nappies that look good and affordable, and chosen a few other bits and pieces too. Feeling very productive.

For anyone else looking at bedside cribs, new regulations have changed the design of the newest ranges which you may like, or dislike: you can no longer slide baby over to your bed (prob changed because everyone was leaving the dropped side down all night which does theoretically add risk I guess). They now have a 12cm barrier you have to lift over. That was quite important to us, adp as we may be c section, so we've gone for a previous model that lets us be on the same level, while having a side that's easy to put up and down as a compromise so we don't get lazy.

Thus ends my Saturday. Off to bed with a paracetamol as bump has been a grumpy bump today. Grin

laurenGame · 09/01/2022 06:17

@Prema112 bless you xx I have pressure pains in my lower stomach and like top of labia. I also have contracting pain in labia but like only once and it goes (several times a day).
I've so many aches and pains down there and I'm only 15 weeks! I don't know what's normal what's not. Glad you're okay now

@beansprout55 I started bad headaches as I went into second trimester and it was awful. Thankfully they've eased now but it was like a migraine.

Can't waittttttt for baby kicks!!!

Vimto1991 · 09/01/2022 09:23

I’ve been getting migraines instead of headaches since second trimester. My friend recommended a cooling eye patch you put in the fridge. I look a bit like a nob but it does work lol

Also in terms of feeling baby move, I’ve been feeling flutters for weeks but have got the occasional heavier kick. I can go almost all day without feeling something, not sure if this is normal whilst they are still small, I presumed it’d get stronger each day.

Also, since the car crash I’ve not had a car. I might as well get a good sized car for a baby and pram as I’ve always had tiny cars. Can anyone recommend a car that has a decent boot where they’ve not struggled to fit a pram? I’m a first time mom so completely clueless. The cars I’ve been as used cars as so expensive now have been like Corsa, Fiesta, Polo, etc.

MrsNT · 09/01/2022 09:30

Ive got a blocked sinus on one side of forehead eye and nose and its not opening up. Took steam last night didnt work. Any remedies ladies? Have got mw appt today. Should i mention it to her

OP posts:
fpeg · 09/01/2022 09:39

@Vimto1991 no help on the car front I'm afraid, but on the movement front your experience is exactly the same as mine, vast majority flutters, occasional something more. Can be what feels like enormous time gaps between them! (Feel something at least once a day on average, have had a couple of very active days though). I (probably naively) thought they'd get stronger quicker, I felt my first movement on 17th December and if I'm being objective they are stronger than they were but definitely still flutters 95% of the time.

fpeg · 09/01/2022 09:40

@MrsNT I would mention it, I bet they give advice all the time on things like this and hopefully can give you a tip that works!

MrsNT · 09/01/2022 09:43

@fpeg im just scared she doesnt freak out thinking covid symptom. I had a day 2 covid travel test 3 4 days ago and done lateral aswell all negative

OP posts:
GrowBabyGrow · 09/01/2022 09:46

@MrsNT there are some sinus massage techniques that I found on google that are helpful and quite soothing!

@Vimto1991 we haven't chosen our pram yet but have a skoda fabia and the boot space is brilliant! Ours is estate but I remember the hatchback also having a good boot too. Skodas are basically a VW under the hood but much cheaper.

GrowBabyGrow · 09/01/2022 09:47

My midwife said sinus issues and blocked noses are really common in pregnancy because we have more blood pumping around the body. So I don't think she will jump straight to covid. @MrsNT

Vimto1991 · 09/01/2022 09:55

@MrsNT as said above it’s such a common symptom in pregnancy she is sure to have advice, please share it if she does as I’ve also struggled with it!!

@fpeg oooh okay! So probably common this early on then, thank you that’s reassuring, I tend to feel most in the evening, not felt much the past day so was a bit freaked out!

@GrowBabyGrow oooh thank you!! There’s a Skoda dealer in the next town from us so I’ll have a look! :D

Imhereforthecake · 09/01/2022 10:55

Ah DH and DS have tested positive on lft.
Paranoid to the max.

RoseValleyRambles · 09/01/2022 11:43

@Imhereforthecake

Ah DH and DS have tested positive on lft. Paranoid to the max.
Oh no! Hope you manage to dodge it.
Brightsmoke · 09/01/2022 12:15

@Vimto1991 I love my vw Tiguan. It's got a good size boot and is a lovely car to drive. I had a pick up before to put the dogs in the back, so I was worried it'd be too small for everything but it's a lovely family car.

PeeAche · 09/01/2022 12:16

Me every night:

"Is that the baby? Can I feel it? Omg. I think it's the baby.

Or it's wind.

Baby?

... Wind?

Please be baby. Lie still. Relax."

~farts~

"Wind."

Olive60 · 09/01/2022 12:23

Thank you for the covid reassurance ladies still waiting for my pcr to come back but I feel rough, achy, drained and so so nauseous the thought of food is too much!

Been reading some threads on here re anterior placenta which I have this time round. Seems like I wont feel flutters/kicks/movement until 20-25weeks and still limited after that. Trying not to feel sad over it!

InvisibleDragon · 09/01/2022 12:42

@Olive60 My placenta is anterior too so not feeling anything much at 17 weeks. Feel a bit sad about that but relieved to know there's a reason for not feeling any movement yet!

Olive60 · 09/01/2022 13:28

@InvisibleDragon That sums it up! Sad but relieved!

MrsNT · 09/01/2022 14:24

@vimto1991 so i spoke with midwife about my sinus blockage and she said theres not much u can take other than paracetamol or lemon and honey tea ans doing steam inhaltion. She said not to take any lemsips. Also said if it lasts very long or gets to painful contact gp to get antibiotics. I picked up a saline nose spray on the way back and pharmacist said it was ok to take. Used it and it instantly made sinus better by about 5%. Currently sitting with a hot heat microwaveable pad over nose and forhead

OP posts:
Vimto1991 · 09/01/2022 15:03

@MrsNT oooooh okay!! I may have to try that saline spray! Anything to breath properly. Sometimes I wake up and I can feel it on one side of my face just all built up 😫 I’m glad you’ve found something that’s worked now! :)
