and vests - just looking for some adavnce information from you experienced mums!

I've just washed all the newborn clothes (I'm due 11 January) to get the nasty chemicals out and am wondering if I'm really going to iron them all once I'm washing when the baby is here.

Is it shameful not to?

chocolateteapot · 19/12/2007 17:03

I have never ironed a babygrow thingy or a vest in my life and feel absolutely no shame if that helps.

IdrisYouaMerryChristmas · 19/12/2007 17:04

BeeWiseMen · 19/12/2007 17:04

peggotty · 19/12/2007 17:05

Noooooooooooo - but it's the kind of thing you do first time round - I remember ironing blankets and stuff. Gave me a sort of warm glow ....

kittylouise · 19/12/2007 17:05

Is this a windup?

If not, categorically you do not iron babygrows and vests.

MerryBiglipsmas · 19/12/2007 17:05

NAB3littlemonkeys · 19/12/2007 17:06

Wow! I thought that might be the answer but BLIMEY!

Rest assured. I have sat down. I have folded the babygrows. I have turned off the iron.

Ds4 is wearing his first ironed item of clothing today actually.

he's 11 months old....

missorinoco · 19/12/2007 17:10

although did find myself baking scones when ds was 2 weeks old.
as you say, them hormones.

YvonneS · 19/12/2007 17:10

Who has time to iron babygrows!? When my dd first arrived I was pleased if I managed to get showered and fed before my husband came home from work.

I wouldn't worry by the time baby has slept and fed in clothes they will be wrinkled again anyway or covered in milk or spit up or all three. Only thing I iron is the outfits.

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 19/12/2007 17:14

I think this is my record! - 21 reponses in less than 10 minutes! I've hit a nerve - or shown myself to be borderline insane.... (I did only iron a few - and the baby hasn't come yet...)

Definitely iron them. They are so cute to iron, take no time at all, and feel softer afterwards and look nicer in the drawer.

crokky · 19/12/2007 17:14

NEVER EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 19/12/2007 17:14

i don;t remember if i did for DS, just a terrible blur of post c.s pain and PND !! but with DD i did, and her vests.. i still do and she is 2.5 . nothing like a sweet little pile of small clothes all ready to popped in a drawer.....

farking hell, i think i was channelling martha stewart for a moment !

although i always burn myself when ironing and it makes me cry
