Hello,

Just found out we are pregnant after 13 months of trying - based on last period will be due august 19th.

Any others with similar time like to join to support one another?

@surprised12

Anyone registered with a midwife yet? I've been told from the doctors that I might not hear from anyone until I'm 16 weeks - surely that can't be right?? They said it's COVID backlog. Not very reassuring....
I'm going to ring up tomorrow as I too have heard there's a backlog. I have private medical insurance so may book in for an early scan and bloods if the insurance covers it. Know it doesn't cover fertility but I assume pregnancy would come under health.

Either way I'll definitely want an early scan, probs through window of the womb as they have a centre locally.

I'm too scared to do anything really though in case it jinxes it. I feel so bad as DH is excited and keeps wanting to walk about 'the future with our child' and it honestly makes me feel sick with anxiety whenever he says anything so I've asked if we could just leave convos like that for a bit Blush feel bad for pissing on his parade but I just want to keep expectations low until at least after the 12 week scan x

mightbeyesmightbeno · 20/12/2021 06:38

Hi all, tentatively joining...

Still testing as I don't really believe it and my tests are still pretty faint as am literally day 29 of my cycle! But I'm hoping this little one sticks and the tests keep getting darker! App says I'll be due 29th Aug.

Were anyone else's tests still quite faint lines at 16days PO?

I have 1 DD age 18 months.

Hi@Glago2017 &@Jhodd from the TTC thread!

@ksc912 yes I also have a tricky family situation with BIL & his partner TTC #1 for 2 years now. They've had a bunch of infertility tests and I think it's crunch time for them soon to decide what to do. We're close (geographically and also in relationships) with them and I'm dreading telling her. When I announced my DD's pregnancy, I remember her saying that before DD would be born, they'd have one on the way so they'd be close cousins. I'm so sad it hasn't happened for them yet. Will hold off telling them as long as I can I think just incase they have a Christmas miracle in the making...

mightbeyesmightbeno · 20/12/2021 07:18

@surprised12 that doesn't seem right at all as you'll need your screening bloods & scan before then! I'd call back / try and get a better answer. Which area of the UK are you in?

rosesarereddish · 20/12/2021 07:54

I wanted to check if I had any line progression before phoning midwife today as I only got 1-2 on a clearblue which scared me a little. My FRER from today (the one with the red nails Grin) is definitely better than the one on Friday. I hope this is good. I told myself I wouldn't do this this pregnancy... it really does drive you mad!

@rosesarereddish Definitely line progression there. Though I am more distracted by your lovely festive nails! Gorgeous! 😍

CoalCraft · 20/12/2021 08:15

Good morning everyone, hope everyone's okay. I had a bit of a manic weekend and am quite looking forward to sitting at my desk in work all day for a rest! Envy

I'm doing well so far - boobs still tender and I seem to be getting physically tired more easily (DD, 1 year, seems to have suddenly doubled her weight?) but otherwise no major symptoms. Did have a twinge of nausea last night but rolling onto my other side fixed it 🤷

@surprised12 Not seeing anyone till 16 weeks is ridiculous! What about your 12 week scan?? Though saying that I was told in my first pregnancy (right at the start of first lockdown) that while I would have scans, I wouldn't actually meet my midwife until week 32 Shock It turned out not to be so, a good thing as DD came at 33 weeks.

I have a call from the midwife tomorrow. It's not supposed to be till 8 weeks but as I have no LMP to go off its scheduled early. Think I'll actually only be 5 weeks though. Still glad as I want to ask about consultant referral.

@mightbeyesmightbeno @rosesarereddish Try not to put too much stock in line strength; it's affected by so many things, even just how hydrated you are! You both have positives and that's the main thing xx

CoalCraft · 20/12/2021 08:16

Er, that was supposed to be a Grin, not a Envy !

ksc912 · 20/12/2021 08:26

Welcome all those joined and congratulations 🎉

@mightbeyesmightbeno it's so hard isn't it. Would be so lovely to having cousins close age that's something I have always wished for too.

@rosesarereddish that progression looks great to me! Love the Christmas nails 💅🏻

I too have heard about back log @surprised12. I'm not referred yet so going to phone today. But being my first it does make me nervous.

Anyone else sleep affected? I keep waking up struggling to get back to sleep and have very weird dreams 🤣

@CoalCraft thanks for the reassurance. Yes, a line is a line. And no period plus line equals pregnancy. Sooooo... I guess I best tell my DH 😂 Need to work out when - I feel like this week isn't a good week so might do it between Xmas and New Years.

@ksc912 yes to the sleep but mainly because once I'm awake I start over thinking everything! This morning at 5am was all about my storage in the house !

YES! Had Insomnia since I found out last Monday. It's got better, but now I'm just waking up at 5am every morning, so frustrating! Just came down and got on with work today at 6 (WFH) have managed to to loads so not all bad Grin

I think i'm going to go and pick up a CB weeks indicator at lunch. I have had 1-2 and 2-3 on them so far. I really want that 3+ and then that's it, I'll stop testing. I've been testing everyday with easy@homes and they're really dark now, just under dye stealer stage. Keep worrying thinking at 18DPO they should DEFINITELY be at dye stealer stage but they're progressively darker everyday so I guess I can't ask for anymore than that at this stage.

Is anyone else just constantly anxious and knicker checking? Going for a wee has become a traumatic event, lol!

Mufflette · 20/12/2021 09:15

I came on here to check I wasn't alone in the sleep issues! Seems not Grin

@Pearldrops04 I've done exactly the same, worked 6-8am and just woken up from a sofa nap feeling much better!

surprised12 · 20/12/2021 10:05
@NetflixAndSauvignonBlanc Apparently we had the same pregnancy with harmony tests, breech babies and calm caesareans! I'm tempted to harmony test again aswell, it really reassured me. I did waste so much of my last pregnancy convinced something was wrong so I kind of want to skip that part, pay for the harmony and just enjoy it.
Can I ask what a harmony test is?

netflixandnochill · 20/12/2021 10:07

Yes @Pearldrops04 find myself panicking at every little twinge and am subconsciously trying not to go to the loo just in case I see something worrying. I’m 17 DPO and got 2-3 on a CB when I tested on Friday.

One of my sisters recommended I join a group like this purely because it’s safe space to openly talk about early pregnancy and I have to say, reading the messages already makes me feel calmer and more supported!

I'm in Newcastle.
I had to submit a urine test on Thursday, so they could test it. Due to call back this afternoon to get the results and complete the midwife referral - so maybe they'll give me more info today.
No way I can wait until end of March to find out if all is okay! Ha!

Yes to the weird dreams!! I thought it was just me!
mightbeyesmightbeno · 20/12/2021 10:16

I've just called my practice and they gave me the community MW number, spoke to them and they said that someone would call me week of 24th Jan for booking assessment over the phone and then I'd just be asked to go for bloods somewhere a few weeks later.

Slightly annoying as it could be any day that week between 9-6 each day. So will just have to hope I get to the phone in time / not on a work call etc. Would rather have a set appointment time but guess this is how it is now.

Had crappy care in first pregnancy due to covid / lock downs and just massively hoping that things aren't too bad for this pregnancy - husband able to go to scans etc.

rosesarereddish · 20/12/2021 10:33

I just phoned my community midwife office too, I felt very embarrassed I didn't remember how much my first baby weighed when she asked Grin They've arranged my booking in for the 5th Jan at 11 over the phone. I asked if things are much different this time around with covid and she said apart from booking in being over the phone it will all be the same as before, apart from my 25 and 32 weeks appt being over the phone too as I'm a second time mum. She said they may be in person if I'm consultant led though, I was last time so we will see. It's so hard, all the waiting. Last time I broke it down into every little milestone, every appointment and only counted down to the next one rather than the birth Grin

rosesarereddish · 20/12/2021 10:36

I set every single thing in a countdown app, I just looked and they are still there and it made me laugh. I'll probably do the same again this time Grin

Oh I might do this! What a good idea! Breaks down the huge bulk down to smaller chunks!
CoalCraft · 20/12/2021 10:56

Now y'all mention it I did have a bit if trouble staying asleep over the weekend. Strange dreams too, though no stranger than normal!

Also so much yes to the fear of going to the loo 😧 I had a lot of bleeding in first pregnancy and even though DD was ultimately okay I'd still rather it didn't happen again.

NetflixAndSauvignonBlanc · 20/12/2021 11:05

@surprised12 the harmony test is a type of screening for certain chromosomal conditions. I think some people might be offered it on the NHS but I paid to have it privately last time. Probably because of my age, the NHS screening at 12 weeks came up with a likelihood of Downs and other chromosomal conditions that was higher than I would have liked (though not high enough to qualify me for any additional NHS screening). I paid to have the harmony test, which involves an additional ultrasound scan and blood test.
The look at the fetal DNA that's in your blood, so they can also tell you what sex the baby is if you want to know.

rosesarereddish · 20/12/2021 11:07

Big sleep issues here too! The last few nights I've woken up loads, had to pee a few times and then just lie awake thinking about baby! I have a big job interview today (awkward now I know I'm pregnant..) and I woke up at 4am this morning fretting about it and running through questions in my head and then 10 minutes later suddenly remembered I'm pregnant and got all excited again Grin

Yes
@surprised12
exactly this. My score was higher than I'd of liked, especially as I was only 25 and had no risk factors. I paid £500 through spire healthcare back in 2019. I'm not sure if prices have changed or if it's different in different areas. It reassured me completely and the private scan that was part of it meant we got to have the sex put into an envelope for my partner and I to find out in a more special way, our hospital would only tell us and they wouldn't write it down. But mainly the reassurance on his health was worth it's weight in gold.

CoalCraft · 20/12/2021 11:39

Do people plan on finding out the sex? We tried to with DD but she had her legs crossed during the scan and the sonographer would only say "I don't see anything that would make me think boy..." so we suspected girl but weren't sure! Hoping this baby is a little more cooperative Grin

Ah, I'm 18DPO today and also got a 2-3 weeks on a CB digital on Friday Smile

Just went and got another CB digital hoping it would say 3+ but unfortunately still 2-3 weeks. Done some research though and it looks like you need HCG levels of over 2000 which most people don't get til about 21-23 DPO so going to leave it til Thurs/ Fri and test again. Think I might still continue to do the easy@home cheapies each morning just for piece of mind Blush
