Any others with similar time like to join to support one another?

Hi guys, can I join? I'm 6 weeks and due 13th Aug. We have a 21 month old boy and this one was a shock but it's the perfect age gap, so we're happy. Just need to move to a bigger place before the summer!

dream109 · 19/12/2021 10:50

Oh, forgot to say I'm an older mum at almost 37 and after having a Spring baby before, I'm dreading a summer 3rd trimester lol.

Dormouse76 · 19/12/2021 11:06

@dream109 - I'm 45 and will be 46 July 2022, which is seriously into 'older mum' territory!

Digby86 · 19/12/2021 12:36

@dream109 @Dormouse76 I’m nearly 36, and feel quite old for a first pregnancy - nice to know there’s others in the same club! Is this second baby for both of you?

Can I ask what people’s experience is re symptoms at this stage? I’ve been quite crampy and had quite bad cramps in the night (they kept me awake between 1 and 3am!) and it’s making me anxious. But I have zero idea what’s normal!

Also, what are you all doing about telling family (or not)? Feels really early to be telling people, as I’m only 4.5 weeks right now. It also doesn’t really feel real yet so seems a bit weird saying it out loud. But I’m (hopefully - Covid permitting!) spending Christmas with family and I think people will probably guess.

mamaof2girls · 19/12/2021 12:47

I don't normally tell family till around 10 weeks I have always booked in for a private scan around then aswell before announcing. But same big family Christmas and won't be able to eat the pate or haggis that I requested for the dinner 😂😂😂😂x

NetflixAndSauvignonBlanc · 19/12/2021 12:48

@dream109 @Dormouse76 I'm no spring chicken either...I'm almost 39 and I have a 21 month old too. I was thinking back this morning about how I used to take lovely 1st trimester naps last time, it's a bit different with a toddler around!

Mufflette · 19/12/2021 13:02

38 here so similar! Main symptoms at the moment are nauseous for most of the day, light headed (I have low blood pressure anyway) and sore boobs.

Going to tell my mum next week when I next see her. DP doesn't want to tell his parents yet but as we're having both sets round for cheese and wine on Christmas Eve it's going to be pretty tricky to hide it!

dream109 · 19/12/2021 13:24

@Digby86 yes, this is my second. For my first pregnancy, I had bad cramping in the night. I had to walk around, it was so painful. I did a lot of reading and although the main articles say light cramping, I saw a lot of people had strong cramping so I tried not to worry and everything was fine (if any bleeding starts, talk to doc). So far, I've been lucky with just a tiny bit of nausea starting now.

rosesarereddish · 19/12/2021 13:26

Anyone on here going to have to make the VBAC or CS decision? It's probably too early for me to worry but I've been worried since my first section to be honest. Every part of me wants to go for another CS but then I might want more kids and I know they advise against 2+ sections. I didn't get a choice with my first, perhaps it's just fear of the unknown?

BeccaBee3 · 19/12/2021 13:28

Hey everyone, hope you don’t mind me joining too! I got my positive on Friday morning and I’m currently 4 weeks according to my last period, due 28th August 😊

I’m feeling a tad nervous and anxious about it all as I have had 2 miscarriages in the past. Any help with how to deal with this would be great! I’m finding it hard to get my head around that I’m actually pregnant and looking ahead.

Have you guys had many symptoms? I have had period like pains for the last few days and I’m terrified it’s going to lead to another miscarriage.

Congrats to you all 🎉

Congratulations. This is my second pregnancy and I've got all the familiar twinges and cramps I had the first time. In most cases it's just our bodies stretching and preparing to carry our babies. Sorry to hear about your previous losses, early pregnancy is a scary time without having that to scare you even more. All I can say is I have vowed to just relax and enjoy this pregnancy, I spent my last constantly convinced I was miscarrying, or that I was going to have a stillbirth. I never once relaxed and accepted I was going to have a baby, but I have a delightful 2.5 year old who is healthy as anything and I feel I wasted that pregnancy. This may be my last so I want to enjoy it. That may be easier said than done though Smile

@rosesarereddish I will need to make that decision. I'm leaning towards a second CS as at least I know what to expect with it and we only want 2 kids.
rosesarereddish · 19/12/2021 14:04

@NetflixAndSauvignonBlanc That's my thinking, I know what to expect and to be honest I had a lovely birth last time. A stubborn breech baby who never turned resulted in an elective caesarean and it was a lovely calm experience, I recovered surprisingly quickly and haven't had any ill effects. A couple of my friends had awful births and how long it took to recover down there and some have ongoing incontinence issues. I'm terrified of that unknown when I compare it to my nice calm csection last time.

Dormouse76 · 19/12/2021 14:06

@rosesareddish I had the same dilemma with my 2nd - whether to do vbac or csection after an unplanned csection. I have to say, there was a lot of pressure to do vbac but I chose csection as the vbac would have been very medicalsed and I was told I'd be 'right across the way from the theatre in case I needed to go in.' Quite frankly I ask the nurses if we could cut the chase and just do a csection given it was quite likely to happen anyway! This is now my 3rd, 12 years later, and I'm guessing I have to have a csection again... to be honest, as i didn't have a choice the first time, and the second opted for it, I'm fine with it. Everyone's different, but I really was ok the second time even though I had another little one at the time to look after.

Christmas is going to be a toughy - but I've got a bad cold so pretending I've got a really sore ear - going to fake an ear infection and antibiotics 😂😂

We will tell my sister in law on New Year's Eve because she's staying with us and too clever to be fooled like that ha!

For me, I think it's too early encase something happens. But I understand why others want to share the news :)

NetflixAndSauvignonBlanc · 19/12/2021 16:52

@rosesarereddish I had a stubborn breech baby too and a lovely calm c section which I recovered from quickly with no lasting bad effects. Hopefully it won't be too hard for me to convince them that's what we should do this time too.

netflixandnochill · 19/12/2021 16:58

Hi @ksc912 & all,

Congratulations!

I’d love to join this group, please! I found out I was pregnant on Friday and Natural Cycles tells me I’m due on the 25th August.

I’m brand new on here and this is my second pregnancy, following a mc in September. Feeling really positive about this one and my boobs really hurt.

Pearldrops04 · 19/12/2021 17:03

Hello, can I join?

I found on Monday that I was pregnant with our first after a long time trying. We were under fertility specialists and were told we wouldn't even be candidates for IVF as my AMH levels are so low Blush was so happy to see that line!

Currently 17DPO and due on the 25th August if all goes well touches all the wood

Would be great to have people to talk to as obviously can't talk to anyone else really atm.

I have just sneezed and pulled my groin really badly though, really hoping I haven't done any damage!!

Digby86 · 19/12/2021 17:09

@dream109 thank you so much - that’s really reassuring 😊 I so want to be one of those people that is super chilled and takes this all in their stride, but I am getting the impression that may not be how this goes… 🙈

Welcome and congratulations to all the new joiners!!

@BeccaBee3 I’m so so sorry to hear about your previous miscarriages. It must be so natural to come into this pregnancy with more worries. For what it’s worth, I’m also having a lot of cramps and general discomfort and am generally not feeling like it’s sunk in/am simultaneously worried something is going to go wrong. I found out the same day as you too! I’m not sure I can say much reassuring (definitely listen to the more experienced mamas, and speak to your doctor if you have concerns - it would seem totally normal to me for you to want to be able to have those conversations with them) but for what it’s worth we’re in it together! 💪 Wishing you a smooth pregnancy, I really hope this is the one for you!

Delight12 · 19/12/2021 18:29

Can I join please? I will be 8 weeks Christmas Eve with baby number 2, my son is 9 years old so I feel like I'm starting again. I've had sore boobs for the last 5 weeks pain isn't going anywhere lol, sleep apnea is awful at the moment I'm so tired all the time. First midwife appointment is on the 28th then hopefully my first scan after that.

Anyone registered with a midwife yet? I've been told from the doctors that I might not hear from anyone until I'm 16 weeks - surely that can't be right??
They said it's COVID backlog. Not very reassuring....

Really? That's awful I'm sure certain screening needs to be done before 14 weeks, not to mention the 12 week scan. That's shocking!

I was going to wait until I was 8 weeks to phone, but I might phone tomorrow incase there is back log it's probably better to get booked in sooner rather than later...

Oh wow I haven't phoned the doctor's yet but I will tomorrow now! If they tell me something similar I'll definitely look at getting a private scan and bloods before then. I had the harmony test last time and was thinking I'd do that again anyway.
rosesarereddish · 19/12/2021 21:05

@NetflixAndSauvignonBlanc Apparently we had the same pregnancy with harmony tests, breech babies and calm caesareans! I'm tempted to harmony test again aswell, it really reassured me. I did waste so much of my last pregnancy convinced something was wrong so I kind of want to skip that part, pay for the harmony and just enjoy it.
