12 weeks today, and 12 week scan tomorrow. Slightly nervous after a bit of a bleed this weekend. I'm seeing family this weekend and I'm so looking forward to telling them about baby is all goes well tomorrow.

Aargh. May not sleep very well tonight. Odds are everything's fine, but I'm still imagining the alternative.

beansprout55 · 14/12/2021 20:49

@RoseValleyRambles I know exactly how you feel. My next scan is a week away and I'm terrified as have had two bleeds since my last scan last week. I know it's impossible not to worry, but try to trust. That's what DH keeps saying to me. Trust him. And only speak positive things over yourself and baby!

We'll be praying for you both tonight and looking forward to hearing your good news tomorrow.
To take my mind off mine I've started the Downton boxset on prime (for the hundredth time) - planning to binge watch it until next Wednesday, great escape!xxx

RoseValleyRambles · 14/12/2021 22:05

@beansprout55 just what I needed to hear, thank you. :)

PurpleMoon12 · 14/12/2021 23:18

Those over 12 weeks - have you stopped folic acid, or are you going to continue taking it?

BunBun221 · 14/12/2021 23:23

@PurpleMoon12 I'm also taking it still as I haven't been told to stop yet (12+2) I'm on 5mg (not 5mcg) and I was also wondering the same thing

PurpleMoon12 · 14/12/2021 23:39

@BunBun221 I'm glad someone else has been wondering as well! I'm 14+5 and I've just been carrying on as normal. One of the midwives said it wouldn't do any harm, but still unsure what to do really

laurenGame · 15/12/2021 05:33
@Roxystar23 Sorry, that is really bad luck. Have you heard about the NIPT test? It's non invasive, but if you have it privately it costs about £400. It tests for Downs and several other syndromes. Something to consider. I didn't have it personally but I read about it.
Yes I second that, I just had my NIPT scan and have been given all clear (they check for severs genetic anomalies).
The relief is great and also just added to more positivity to this pregnancy.

CurryandSnuggle · 15/12/2021 07:31

I’m still taking pregnacare, will do throughout the whole pregnancy (which has folic acid in it).

Got my weekly email from NHS start4life yesterday. Apparently the baby can hear now (from 15 weeks), I’m 15+5. Been chatting away to bump and my son has spoken to bump a few times… is that weird 😂

Unarosaes · 15/12/2021 07:42

@PurpleMoon12 I specifically asked at my last appointment as I had heard that you don't need to take it beyond 12 weeks. Was told they recommend to take folic acid minimum until 20 weeks and ideally for the whole pregnancy.

unknownscot · 15/12/2021 07:59

@CurryandSnuggle it's not weird at all! The bond it will build with baby is immeasurable - I can't wait until that stage. Get baby in on my favourite tunes 😂

PurpleMoon12 · 15/12/2021 08:05

@Unarosaes thats more info than i received, really helpful, thanks!

Roxystar23 · 15/12/2021 08:18

@RoseValleyRambles Thinking of you today and sending positive vibrs your way!

@laurenGame & @Pandamama88 - I will look into the NIPT scan today - thank you so much for the advice. Glad to hear all is well Lauren. 😊

@Vimto1991 Oh really!? That’s really good to know. To be honest, I don’t think the midwife that I saw was confident about what she was talking about. I had blood taken yesterday but then when we said we didn’t want to needle taking the amniotic fluid she discarded my blood sample and said that it was pointless now. I could either have the needle test or just wait until the 20 week scan to look for any markers. My “scan” appointment ended up with me being in the hospital for 2 hours 45 while they amended paperwork and passed me around to different people so they could apologise for getting the dates so wrong at the booking appointment. 😕

I’m 14+6 today and I’m still taking folic acid.

@vimto1991 - my “morning” sickness has increased as pregnancy has gone on. I was just nauseous a lot to begin with and this then turned into me being physically sick. Yesterday I didn’t manage to make it to the bathroom in time (first time this has happened) & I ended up having to change my top. This was 5 mins before we were due to leave for the scan.

Vimto1991 · 15/12/2021 08:22

@Roxystar23 ah that’s so odd! They should definitley offer you a QUAD test it’s done between 15-20 weeks so you have plenty of time for that and that means you don’t need the invasive test. :)
Yeah mines just ramping up 😂 I had to do a covid test to get into the hospital and it made me sick 🙈

JAR1981 · 15/12/2021 08:35

@RoseValleyRambles good luck for your scan today.

@Vimto1991 might be worth you mentioning to your midwife if you didnt have sickness in the first tri and only just getting it now. I read somewhere that it can be normal for some ladies but can also be indicative of other things.

On the discharge front mine is similar. Way more than I ever had pre pregnancy, creamy and was thinner in the first tri but now seems to be stickier past 13 weeks. Delightful!

RoseValleyRambles · 15/12/2021 09:04

Thanks guys.. Slightly crampy last night so a little bit anxious. Lots of suggestions that that's normal for week 12 tho. Either way I'll know in a couple of hours!

MrsNT · 15/12/2021 09:06

Has anyone been told to stop taking pregnacare or switch to something else after 12 plus weeks?

Prema112 · 15/12/2021 09:07

Thinking of you @RoseValleyRambles You've not had smooth sailing so far this pregnancy but I'm praying that the rest of your pregnancy is a breeze!! X

Prema112 · 15/12/2021 09:09

@MrsNT I stopped with pregnacare around 12 weeks as I realised it was making me sicker! I'm still taking folic acid and vit D, I read folic acid throughout pregnancy can make your kid smarter 🤓

MrsNT · 15/12/2021 09:12

@prema112 nhs website says upto 12 weeks but i have a call with doctor next week so will ask. As someone above said there is no harm but good to know hiw long to take. I like pregnacare because it suits me plus it has all the other things like vit d c etc

unknownscot · 15/12/2021 09:28

I'm heading to view a Coachbuilt Silvercross Kensington Pram today - it suddenly feels all real 🥰

Flowerbug1994 · 15/12/2021 09:57

@PurpleMoon12 am just going to carry on with pregnancy vitamin right the way through am sure folic acid can’t harm xxxx

EarlGreywithLemon · 15/12/2021 10:19

I carried on with the Pregnacare all the way through my first pregnancy and will do the same this time. In fact , last time I was pregnant I had low iron and was prescribed an iron supplement which also had some folic acid in it. I pointed this out to the midwife and pharmacist as I was also taking Pregnacare- both said that was fine.

Vimto1991 · 15/12/2021 10:33

I stopped taking folic acid as I read it doesn’t do much after 12 weeks. I have to take vitamin D so still taking that. Now I’m unsure if I should have stopped 😫

@JAR1981 I mentioned it to my consultant yesterday and they didn’t say it was good or bad just I can take medication if it gets worse so not sure if that was dismissive or they aren’t worried haha

HWka · 15/12/2021 11:56

I’ve got Covid 😔 the midwife seemed to think the baby would be fine and it was more about me keeping myself well!
Could really do without it to be honest!! Hope everyone is ok xxx

Prema112 · 15/12/2021 11:58

@HWka Oh no Sad So sorry to hear that just before Christmas. Did they advise blood thinners? I had covid a few weeks ago and was on daily blood thinners. Really hope it's mild for you, take care x
