@fattycatty82 I'm not doing it cos I've hurt my knee & have a hematoma but you can keep training safely but I believe you need to be conscious of not doing too much. There's a few pregnant ladies who do specific training on Insta I think. There's also a book someone who we know who did triathlons recommended I shall try find it

Minster2012 · 18/11/2021 09:17

@fattycatty82 here you are, this is what she recommended at over 22 weeks pregnant, she was still cycling a lot & doing strength training

@Minster2012 thank you I will check this out 🙏😊👍

itssquidstella · 18/11/2021 09:40

@fattycatty82 I'm still running once a week and doing two spin classes and a yoga class! I used to work out five times a week so have dropped the frequency and intensity a bit, but there's no way I’m giving up proper exercise yet. It's so important for my mental health and all the advice I’ve read says that you can carry on doing whatever your body is used to, as long as you don't push yourself too hard.

autumn321 · 18/11/2021 10:20

@acupofteamakeseverythingbetter no way!! Shock xx

@Jowd92 sorry you're not feeling great! Hope you start to feel a lot better soon xx

@h0peing @Minster2012 thank you! xx

@aNewYorkerInLondon 😂 good luck! xx

GinnyBee · 18/11/2021 10:44

@fattycatty82 completely fine to keep doing exercise you're already used to! Aiming to maintain rather than improve fitness, so don't try to start upping your weights or anything. And this link is pretty good for CF specific scaling.

journal.crossfit.com/article/cfj-pregnancy-a-practical-guide-for-scaling

I've seen many ladies training all the way through pregnancy, with obviously modifications towards the end.

@GinnyBee and @itssquidstella thanks both 👍👍 feeling a bit more positive now 💪🏋️‍♀️

TashieWoo · 18/11/2021 11:40

Thank you @H0peing! X

On the exercise thing, a bit different but I have 2 horses, one living out and one stables overnight, so I’m at the yard at least twice a day caring for them. I’m no longer riding and stopped at about 10 weeks as I was just so tired and life was getting in the way, and you aren’t meant to past the 2nd trimester anyway, but their care involves lots of lifting, pushing wheelbarrows around, walking etc and so it is good for fitness, especially in the winter when everything is harder. I’m also doing groundwork with my horse a few times a week. I’m feeling ok with what I’m doing so far but I will have some help from DP as abs when I need it, I want to carry on doing everything for as long as I can though and know many other horsey women who have done the same Smile

Jowd92 · 18/11/2021 13:32

Just had my screening results back and low risk so that’s good news also had a big book off appointments come through already with 4 more scans booked through out pregnancy never had them all come through like this before a lot of appointments to remember with scans consultant and mw

AllyCat31 · 18/11/2021 15:34

Hey @fattycatty82 I did weightlifting and powerlifting before I got pregnant and I’ve dropped the weight lifting but still doing deadlifts and bench and squat etc while I can. I also run and do yoga and swim (used to work out everyday) but I don’t do any yoga now cause it makes my nausea worse and overall I’m only doing 3/4 sessions a week and everything is lighter/slower/shorter distances etc. just do what feels good as long as your midwife/GP are happy. Lots of women train all the way up to full term 😊

fattycatty82 · 18/11/2021 16:18

@AllyCat31 interesting about the yoga! I can't go on the rower as it makes me want to be sick 😂🤦‍♀️ I was doing snatches from the ground to over head yesterday and to be honest I don't think I'll attempt them again... just because I'm paranoid I could do some damage, but I'm going to do what I can for as long as I can for sure x

@TashieWoo lovely about your horses, I watched Dark Horse, the story of Dream Alliance on Netflix last night and it's an amazing story, you may know it already but worth a watch x

robyna · 18/11/2021 18:02

Those of you that had the blood test for downs, edwards and patau at your 12 week scan, how long did it take you to get your results? I know they call quite quickly if there's a high risk.

Sarah239 · 18/11/2021 18:10

@robyna I had my scan on Friday and I asked the sonographer... she said normally results come within a fortnight.

She didn't say it would be sooner if the results were high risk, but I have read/assume they might contact you a bit quicker if there is anything of concern. So I'm just hoping that the longer I don't hear anything, the less concern there is, though I don't actually know that for a fact! I expect it may vary from hospital to hospital too.

Sarah239 · 18/11/2021 18:12

All of you talking about exercise makes me feel a right lazy potato as I have barely done any exercise except for the odd walk and three slow yoga sessions for 12 weeks 😂

Keep meaning to swim but just not got round to it, with winter closing in it's harder to to get out isn't it!

KMHH · 18/11/2021 18:22

@robyna I had my tests done last Wednesday and I got a letter through the post the following Tuesday saying I was low risk. I got told if you were high risk they would phone you within 3 days x

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 18/11/2021 18:40

Hi everyone I was on the last thread but not posted for a while I’ve been so sick I’ve really struggled the last couple of months. I’m 16 weeks now and the last few days I’ve been feeling a little less nauseous and been able to eat. It was so bad before I literally couldn’t even walk into a supermarket and think about food without dry heaving so I’m very glad it is easing up.

I had my 16 week midwife appointment today and it was all good. I got to hear the baby’s heartbeat on the Doppler which was nice. I’m having a gender scan at the weekend so hopefully the baby will cooperate and I will finally know what we are having. I have 2 little boys and I have a slight preference for another boy as I’d love to have 3 little boys and to be able to reuse all the clothes but I’m sure a girl would be nice too. I feel like it will be a girl though because this pregnancy has been quite different to my first two. But we will see! My fucking irritating mil is desperate for it to be a girl so that’s probably making me hope for a boy even more 😂 but really I will be happy either way, I just need to know.

itssquidstella · 18/11/2021 20:08

@robyna I had the Harmony test privately and it took 12 days to get the results, but they had gone to the US and back in that time! I think it can be a lot quicker if the company uses a UK-based lab.

Minster2012 · 18/11/2021 20:14

@Sarah239 that was like le, I had my scan a week ago today & they said to me if it's high risk & we need to discuss further then I will hear in 7/10 days (so from now), if don't hear then assume low risk & I'll get a letter in 3/4 weeks!! @KMHH wow yours was really quick!

@MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat gosh that sounds really bad on such a lot of sickness let's hope it is easing (and you get a boy!) I'm so excited for my gender scan but still 2 weeks away

YummyMummyXoX · 18/11/2021 21:52

My results for Downs, Edwards and Patel testing were back in 10 days low risk
Hope everyone is keeping well -gender scan this weekend feels like we've been waiting forever! X

TashieWoo · 18/11/2021 21:54

@fattycatty82 thank you for the recommendation, definitely one to watch! Although pre-pregnancy I cried non-stop through films with horses in so goodness knows what I’d be like now!

TashieWoo · 18/11/2021 22:04

Speaking of gender scans - I was going to book a private one for next week at 17 weeks but I’ve decided to wait until the week after - this week has been manic as DP and I moved house last weekend and there is still loads of unpacking to do, plus then it’ll be exactly in between my 16 week check and the 20 week anomaly scan.

I’m just going with what other people want for the reveal, as I wasn’t particularly fussed about finding out and quite liked the idea of a surprise, but then I don’t want to make the pregnancy all about me either, and DP wants to find out.

My mum said that she’d like to come to our new house to have a little gender reveal party with a balloon, as her hairdresser had a balloon reveal Grin. I think that it’s so sweet she wants that so we’re going to do that. This baby is her first grandchild and after being shocked at first she’s getting more excited each week!

DP’s mum would like a boy as she has 3 granddaughters already and she always thought DP would be the one to have a boy Hmm. She’s very sweet but absolutely insistent on finding out. We have a family meal planned for early December so we’re going to do a surprise reveal for them then.

morphe · 18/11/2021 22:47

@MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat nice to see you back, I'm glad the sickness is easing. I hope the gender scan goes well!

@Sarah239 yep I'm feeling lazy too, I had been going to the gym quite regularly before getting pregnant but felt too tired during the first trimester so I've stopped. I'm not so tired now but just so busy with various work/life admin that I just can't justify the time!

I had my Covid booster today (Pfizer) and just feeling very slightly sore in my arm, but otherwise no side effects.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 19/11/2021 00:18

Today's fun mother-in-law moment: having her tell me out of the blue that if we name baby after my father-in-law (her ex-husband) then baby won't be able to be his own person.

We aren't even discussing names with anyone so I don't know where this came from! I was speechless.

Minster2012 · 19/11/2021 07:10

@aNewYorkerInLondon ha ha "yes MIL, thank you, Rex it is"

@TashieWoo that sounds so lovely that your mum wants to do that, so exciting we are coming up to gender scans!!

KMHH · 19/11/2021 12:30

Not been feeling too good lately at all then find out today I have covid 😭 think I have got every symptom! Trying to keep the temp down and the pain with only paracetamol and home remedies is a bit of a headache! Has anyone else had covid during their pregnancy? I've been told not to worry however, it's only natural and hard to not worry. X
