Oh, actually that and I went for a private scan but it was much airier there and everyone was masked. (We’re having a girl! I’m so shocked, we have so many nephews I was sure DC would join their ranks haha)

robyna · 21/12/2021 18:18

@Honeymint google says moderna and Pfizer are safe in pregnancy, I think they just gave me Pfizer as it's what I had for my other two doses so they know I'm fine with it as I've not reacted bad to them maybe?
Also congrats team girl! 💖 I was convinced I was having a boy too as I'm the only girl in my family and my partner only has one girl in his family. I've had two scans and both confirmed girl!

TunaJacket · 21/12/2021 19:13

Hey everyone 🙂

Can I ask what your movement is like and how far along you are?

I am 19 weeks and over the last week or so I thought I was getting little pops every now and then. Yesterday he was really going for it and I felt him lots all day but then today, I have felt literally nothing and it’s got me a bit worried.

Do you find your movements are still coming and going a bit?

My 20 week scan isn’t until end of next week.

Thank you!

Sarah239 · 21/12/2021 19:17

@TunaJacket hi!
I started feeling movement at 17 weeks (but I hear that's pretty early. I wasn't sure of them at first but gradually became more confident and now I'm sure they are movements.

There were a couple of days I was worried I was feeling less, I rang midwife as wasn't sure if that was a red flag early on (I know reduced fetal movement is later on but wasn't sure about 18-24 weeks) but they said they don't worry about movement before 24 weeks and it's only after 24 weeks there should be a pattern. So that was reassuring!

I am now 19+1 and my husband managed to feel baby move this morning when I was lying down which was amazing!

What you are describing sounds like it to me, pops/nudges are the best way I can describe mine. I feel very lucky that I am feeling things so early as I find it very reassuring and I love it!

Sarah239 · 21/12/2021 19:21

I had a Moderna booster too (after Pfizer for doses one and two) and they definitely had both so I don't think it really matters. My husband came too at the same time and he got Pfizer. He actually suffered more than I did! I just felt a bit ropey and tired for < 24 hours after so feeling lucky. Hope all of you that feel bad from it feel better soon!

Bubbasmama2017 · 21/12/2021 21:43

@tunajacket I just came on to ask the same! Had a look on Tommy's website as was worrying. I'm 20 weeks tomorrow and felt very small movements for the last week or so and today absolutely nothing.
Got my scan on Thursday but was worried that would be too late if something was wrong, I remember them saying the same about 24 weeks when I was pregnant with my daughter and called the hospital asking for advise.
My midwife is rubbish at getting back to me so don't think there is any point in contacting her but just wanted some reassurance! Sorry long waffling post

Bubbasmama2017 · 21/12/2021 21:53

I had the Pfizer booster and felt a bit off the next day but nothing too bad, I had that one for the other 2

LS2020 · 22/12/2021 04:42

@robyna hope you feel better soon - I found the worst cold aches passed after a day 😊

@TunaJacket hi! I’m 20 weeks today and had my scan yesterday and weirdly noticed baby was very quiet yesterday (maybe too much poking?) but was absolutely fine on scan. Seems like they are back to normal now as getting a few bubbles as I write this! It’s really common to not feel any consistent kicks til 26 weeks mark which is why they tell you to not expect a pattern til then. It’s hard though as I feel like I have a pretty consistent times of day where I do normally feel them so when I don’t I’m all over the heroes tin to try prod them along 😂

Pregnancy insomnia suckssss… going to be fast asleep all day now 😞

Jowd92 · 22/12/2021 08:18

Hi everyone hope everyone is doing okay I’m still trying to get booked in for my booster and also my whooping cough one there’s just no appointments, I was feeling like flutters a few weeks back but I’m starting to worry about movement to be honest I thought I would be feeling more by now I’m 18 weeks today but this is baby 5 for me and I felt my previous 2 boys a lot earlier so it’s just making me worry thinking something is wrong don’t have my 20 week scan until early January either and doesn’t help when people say that’s strange it’s number 5 and your not feeling movement yet should I be worried? It’s starting to stress me out

fattycatty82 · 22/12/2021 09:01

@Jowd92 I thought pregnant women had been made a priority for the booster now did you put that in the form? I just went to a walk in last week but got their half hour before it opened. Was the first one in. I had been turned away twice before though the week before 🤷‍♀️ I hope you can get it soon, keep trying x

I'm 19+2 second baby and can't honestly say I've felt movements yet, I might have but it might have also been trapped wind! I have a bump but it hasn't got loads bigger in the last few weeks either, not that I've noticed anyway which is starting to concern me.

Everybody is different though so I'm really trying (and failing!) not to compare. I am a worrier and lack of sleep isn't helping. Woke at 4am and googled what abnormalities people have found at the 20 week scan so it's been a fun morning 🙄 no idea why I do it to myself. Just need to get through work today and tomorrow and scan Friday so will soon find out either way.

Probably sounds a bit cold but I'm getting to the point where I'm just like, what will be will be.

GinnyBee · 22/12/2021 09:34

Hi all, it's been a while! I've been busy with prepping for Christmas, fuming at the government, and generally feeling quite low, so not had the motivation for online interaction 😔

On Monday I was having a really shit day. I'd slept like trash and then just felt like life sucks. I decided I hate both my jobs, really dislike and feel suffocated living next door to the in-laws, feel guilty and inadequate for not training my dog better and spending more time with him, and not sure if I want kids but it's a bit late now. After a couple nights of better sleep and productive Christmas jobs I'm mostly over it. This happens every winter, I really struggle with the lack of daylight. April can't come soon enough!

@Jowd92 No one has even mentioned the whooping cough to me yet! 😱I feel like the midwife might have mentioned it's offered at my 20 week scan or one of the other later appointments, but I'm not sure if I remember that right.

@TunaJacket If you're a first timer then it's not uncommon to feel movements later, and also having an anterior placenta will cushion them so you'll feel later. I'm 19+1 today and think I've felt a little nudge a few times in the past week or so but nothing consistently yet. I do know I have an anterior placenta though. It's not until 24 weeks that they start to worry about it :)

@GinnyBee I really identify with this post so much!! I struggle to be positive this time of year as well, I use a SAD lamp and find walking outdoors (even when it's freezing and rubbish) helps. I just can't wait for some sunshine, which unfortunately is some time away yet.

Lack of sleep is one sure fire way to make me negative about everything so I do wonder how I'll function when baby is here in those first few months (years??) oh well, like you say, too late now it's happening!!!

SouthwestSis · 22/12/2021 09:53

@Jowd92 agree if you can't get an appointment for a booster before Christmas then find your nearest walk in centre, lots open today and tomorrow and people are usually very friendly and let pregnant ladies to the front of the queue if there is one.

robyna · 22/12/2021 10:59

@SouthwestSis I booked my appointment and my partner asked if I could skip the queue cause I'm pregnant and the guy said no but offered me a seat instead 😂

KMHH · 22/12/2021 16:53

Had my 20 week scan today and all is perfect with baby however, I've still been passing out, I had tests done 2 weeks ago which showed I was anaemic so prescribed some meds however still happening so I had more tests done yesterday and it turns out my iron is even lower than what it was before I started the meds. Some other blood tests have came back abnormal so still waiting for those results. Has anyone had any problems with passing out/dizziness etc ? Xx

TashieWoo · 22/12/2021 20:52

@KMHH
I don’t have any advice with regards to the anaemia and I’m sorry that your blood results need further attention - I hope the doctors are able to get to the bottom of it asap - lovely news about your 20 week scan though!

GinnyBee · 22/12/2021 21:04

@KMHH That sounds rough, sorry you're struggling with that! Anaemia is common in pregnancy as our iron requirement is increased and many women have borderline low iron levels to begin with too, and it's difficult to build them back up during pregnancy. It sucks though. My best friend had anaemia all through pregnancy, the strategy was to just maintain her levels but realistically trying to get back to normal levels was not likely until baby was out.

Are you on iron supplements now? Are they non-heme or heme iron? I had low iron after two miscarriages and noticed that I don't absorb non-heme iron very well at all - despite taking supplements daily for three months my ferritin levels had actually dropped, and this was pre-pregnancy. When I switched to heme iron I started feeling better within two weeks, but admittedly didn't get my levels checked again.

Sarah239 · 22/12/2021 21:09

@KMHH yes I passed out last week for the first time ever (in front of work colleagues on a video call...!)! I was 18 weeks at the time. I'm pretty sure mine was a case of not eating enough or drinking enough, I've been careful about eating and drinking and it hasn't happened again though I have been a bit lightheaded occasionally. Was so weird though, I felt fine one minute and the next I was on the floor. The midwife said it's extremely common in middle of 2nd trimester.

I'm sorry it keeps happening for you, that must be so scary! Good that you are getting further checks and it sounds like they know it's your iron levels... I hope you get a solution very soon! Are you able to recognise it before it happens and sit/lie down or is it too quick?

So glad all looked perfect for your scan! X

KMHH · 22/12/2021 22:12

Thanks everyone for your well wishes, I'm just happy the baby is fine. I think it maybe because I'm just run down and I'm still getting over covid so not 100% myself 😊

@GinnyBee my iron levels have been up and down for the last few years without being pregnant, I can go months with them being fine then all of a sudden needing some extra iron. I'm on ferrous fumarate and my vitamins with iron in so I've been prescribed some stronger ones today so hopefully they work. Xx

@Sarah239 it is scary isn't it? The first time I passed out throughout pregnancy I thought it was because I hadn't had much to eat or drink so left it and after a few days it got worse, I kept going dizzy and very light headed even when I didn't do anything then all hot and pass out. Hopefully they will find out more when my next results come back. Yes before hand I go dizzy and I feel like a rush throughout my full body and my eyes go then that's when I pass out so normally as soon as Im feeling like that I can sit down. Xx

Sarah239 · 23/12/2021 12:01

I really hope you feel better soon @KMHH ! Hopefully it's just something adjusting and will ease off in time.

My 20 week scan is tomorrow... I wanted to ask, has anyone had problems with their bladder being too empty at scan? My appointment letter says something ridiculous like "drink two glasses of water one or two hours before you attend and do NOT use the toilet before your appointment." If I did that I think I'd be bursting!

I don't really understand why the bladder needs to be full still as surely baby is bigger than 12 week scan so easier to find?!

fattycatty82 · 23/12/2021 12:13

@Sarah239 I was saying the same thing to my other half last night, and actually there's nothing on my letter to say I need a full bladder. I'll only be 19+4 tomorrow though so im going to drink at least a pint of water an hour before. Are you nervous/excited?? I feel like I've been waiting for this scan forever and not slept last few nights!!!

Bubbasmama2017 · 23/12/2021 12:18

Just had mine and drank maybe a half pint ish or water on the half hour drive there, absolutely no problems seeing the baby and it wasn't too much for me when they pushed down onto my bladder to get different views. I think take a bottle with you and take some sips before you go in but don't worry too much.

The scan was great, longer than I remembered but all fine and baby confirmed by them to be a girl although they always say they can't tell 100%! Feel so relieved now as I've had no movements for the past 2-3 days now so it was lovely seeing baby girl moving about.
Also had the whooping cough jab after

robyna · 23/12/2021 13:04

@Sarah239 when I went for my 12 week scan she made me empty my bladder cause it was making baby curl up and she couldn't get a good view. When I asked her about the 20 week scan she said to ignore all of the letters saying to drink water and by about 14 weeks it's not necessary at all.

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 23/12/2021 15:11

I had my scan on Monday and all looking good with my baby girl. We knew the sex since my private scan at 16 weeks but I was happy to have the confirmation so I don’t have to return all the girl clothes I bought 😂

Unfortunately COVID has messed up our Christmas plans though. My 4 year old was feeling warm with a headache after he came home from school on Tuesday (on his last day of term) and his class have been dropping like flies all the previous week. Lft tested him yesterday and got a big positive straight away. Yesterday was so awful he was so unwell, I’ve never seen him like that and it was very stressful seeing him so ill. He woke up this morning miraculously 100% better and has been bouncing all over the house and garden so I’m so relieved. Of course will continue to isolate but I am so glad he’s better. Just hoping my youngest doesn’t catch it now. Husband and I had our boosters last Friday so will see. So far no symptoms. We were supposed to be travelling to see my family for a few days yesterday so I am very disappointed to have to cancel as I was so looking forward to it after not seeing them at Christmas last year either (I live 200 miles away) but hopefully will be able to go at some point early next year. Will have a quiet family Christmas at home instead.
Hope everyone else is well.

Due May 2022 (thread 3)
YfenniChristie · 23/12/2021 15:15

First time posting and wanted to say hi.

Had my 20 week scan the other day, and (to sound odd) it's all starting to feel a bit more real now! Baby is looking great - but needed to see the midwife afterwards as I have fibroids (which I, and they, knew about). Apparently they're all high up and out the way and highly unlikely to cause any problems.

Have had my whooping cough and flu jabs as well, and now due my booster jab next week too!
