I'm only 6+2 and super paranoid about absolutely everything. Had my fet on the 28/09, it was our second fet after the first one failed, I had bleeding before I even got to the otd. My scan is this Thursday and it's fair to say I'm bricking it.

Would be nice to chat with some ladies who've done ivf, I have been keeping an eye on the June 2022 thread but sometimes I find I can't relate.

17 weeks today. I really thought I was out the first trimester woodworks but I was up today at 2am today throwing up. Its 11am and I'm still in bed feeling miserable and nauseas.

It feels odd complaining when you've gone through the hardships of IVF. I do want a baby in my arms but I would rather skip the pregnancy part.

TheSnufflet · 21/01/2022 11:53

@paintfairy @Holskey thank you Smile

@Donimo yes I'm under fetal medicine/consultant care. I've got a telephone appointment with midwives at 16w, then the 20w scan then scans every 4 weeks after that - also they said they want me to take blood thinners for 6 weeks after birth for some reason? I'm already on 150mg aspirin per day. Is it the same for you?

@strawberrysummer19 I could have written your post myself! I'm a 32GG and my bras are starting to get unbearable with cutting into me. I've been sleeping in my old Primark sports bralettes and I'm going to George @ ASDA on payday to have a look through their non-wired bras. Pregnancy is not the time for underwires!

@2mumlife I've just looked back through my symptom log for 6-7 weeks, and to be honest, a lot of entries are 'light' nausea - so just a vague feeling of 'ick' but nothing earth-shattering. And even they weren't logged for every day! It ramped up to 'heavy' at about 7-8 weeks, and didn't die down until about week 11 so you may well have it to look forward to Smile. Nil desperandum!

2mumlife · 21/01/2022 14:38

@TheSnufflet I've been trying to keep a diary too as I go, but I haven't been great at updating it lately! I don't know if I just peaked early? DP keeps telling me to be grateful I can function well again and eat properly again. The only time I'v felt a bit of very light nausea today was right before lunch when a meeting overrun so I was hungry which seems to trigger me

Holskey · 21/01/2022 15:39

I got some comfy sport-type bras when I was pregnant 2020. Haven't worn a wired bra since! 😂 I'll wait until after I've finished having kids and trashing my body.

@Monday55 I'm 16+5 and still nauseous. For me it's so much better than it was 6 weeks ago but I'm still surprised by how crap it is. My first pregnancy wasn't great either and I had a few health issues. I found it such a rude awakening - I wanted to be pregnant so badly for years and I built it up to be this amazing experience, but in reality it doesn't suit me at all. The baby though 🥰🥰🥰 all worth it.

strawberrysummer19 · 21/01/2022 15:53

@TheSnufflet it's so uncomfortable isn't it! Asda do a lovely range but there 32s were too big so now I feel like this I'm hoping they fit me now as there bras are so lovely and so reasonable. I was tempted buying them and taking them in myself

I give up with bravissimo it's so hit and miss and I can't ever find anything that comfortable, supportive but also doesn't look like a granny bra with pointed triangles!!

X

2mumlife · 21/01/2022 16:12

@strawberrysummer19 To be fair I haven't used bravisimo since lockdown started, as I found you really needed to go in and try on to get the bra right (I never ended up with the same sized bras). More recently I've just been buying CurvyKate bras online as I find they are less variable

2mumlife · 21/01/2022 16:14

@TheSnufflet Oh my word a GG cup? oofffttt thats a lot to be carrying around!

Novavee · 21/01/2022 16:33

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all doing well.

I had my 12 week scan today and it was a lovely experience. Such a difference from the blob from my 6 week scan! The baby was so active, it wouldn't stop moving around. It took forever to do the scan, because it just wouldn't stay still long enough to get the measurements they needed. I also got the results of my combined tests at the same time and came back as low risk.

Curiously, they didn't change my dates. They said there was no point as it's ivf and they knew precisely when everything had taken place. They also said ivf babies tend to be a bit bigger/longer, so there's no point going by these measurements as they wouldn't make much difference.

@TheSnufflet congratulations on your scan!

@2mumlife I had a few days of no symptoms at all about the same time and ended up posting here panicking. A day later I was back to being sick and it has been on and off ever since. It seems to have started to quiet down now at 11+5.

Holskey · 21/01/2022 17:00

Congratulations on your scan @Novavee. Sounds lovely 😊 Out of interest, have you been prescribed aspirin? The logic behind me being prescribed aspirin is that IVF babies tend to be smaller. Some other women here have also been told IVF babies are smaller but I remember at least one other here also being advised they're generally bigger. Though it sounds like in your case they meant bigger early on rather than born bigger??

paintfairy · 21/01/2022 17:03

@Novavee that's interesting as I was told they had to change my date because for the screening test it needs to be correct. I'm only one day out though so mine isn't longer either.

All this bra talk. 🤣 I am definitely not a G! 🤭 I'm a 34C usually but in some bras I'm a 34D (I'm also mostly that if I've put on weight). But I've had to buy some new ones! The wired are 34DD and the non wired are 32DD. But I'm sure my boobs are still growing! Both were matalan. I've no idea where to get decent non wired bras from but they are definitely more comfortable i think! Can anyone recommend cheap ish decent sports bras? I've got one (a decent make too) but actually I find it digs in my shoulders? Its fine otherwise though (aside from likely it won't fit now).

Donimo · 21/01/2022 18:17

@TheSnufflet I am also on aspirin and then from 28 weeks injections too. I have fortnightly scans and a consultant appointment from 16 weeks at a regional hospital under fetal medicine. Then also have telephone appointments with the local hospital consultants, just had an appointment for that for 10th Feb. And then normal midwives appointments (think I will be spending a lot of time at the hospital)

@Monday55 I am feeling worse this week than I have most weeks. But not as far as you at only 13 weeks. I'm on medication and still been sick 20 odd times today. Gave up at work at 3pm and had to come home for a lie down Sad.

@Novavee glad your scan went well.

@Holskey the sonographer at my scan said ivf babies tend to measure bigger. In particular she said if its a frozen embryo. Although my transfer was fresh and I measured 3 days ahead! But I have also heard others say they measure smaller Confused.

strawberrysummer19 · 21/01/2022 18:44

So I've been to Asda and spent £80 on bras as you can't try them on. Got a selection of 32f and Es and none fit!!! I've kept one pack of seamless bralettes that give absolutely no supports and look like I have two gala melons flattened on my chest BUT it's not digging in uncomfortable so have kept that 2 pack.

They do a nice selection of sports bras but only in small medium and large so as I have such a small back I bought medium and the cups are too small! So going to try a large but then will have the issue of the back being too big!! Argh!

Breast reduction and uplift once I've recovered from child birth for me please

X

Novavee · 21/01/2022 22:37

Thanks @Holskey no aspirin for me. At the booking appointment the midwife said that apart from ivf it was fairly low risk. The only extra thing I have is one appointment with a consultant around 20 weeks and they won't let me go to 40 weeks, but more would be decided closer to the dates.
I won't even have extra scans unless baby starts measuring too small or too big. I just have the 20 week one and that's it.
So strange that we are all told different things. Not sure if it is bigger early on or bigger in general. Didn't think of asking, tbh.

@paintfairy the sonographer did fiddle with the measurements and dates and said it was practically the same and made no difference and that was right about when he was checking the risk calculations, so maybe that's why? 🤷‍♀️

@Donimo that's interesting about measuring bigger if it's frozen embryo. Mine was a frostie so maybe that's the difference.

strawberrysummer19 · 23/01/2022 14:09

Hi ladies

The last couple of days I've had a achey bump but only on the right hand side ?

It feels different to the overall ache all over I had before. Like it's in one smaller place

Could this be ligament pain?

X

strawberrysummer19 · 23/01/2022 14:09

I'm 13+5 x

2mumlife · 23/01/2022 16:56

@Novavee Congratulations on scan! That's nice to have a longer scan and baby flipping about. It's very interesting all this size stuff - obviously in the end every baby is different! It's interesting you had a few days of reduced symptoms too. I don't really know what to think - I definitely don't feel as bad as I did during week 4&5, but I'm still not feel nothing - it's more just s general lethargy though, and no appetite. I'm glad we have clinic scan tomorrow as I feel if everything's ok then I'll feel more reassured. All being well I then need to get on with contacting midwife/GP as we've been holding off for scan before trying to get booking in appointment or date for 12 week scan

Etonmess20 · 23/01/2022 17:57

@strawberrysummer19 I'd say it sounds like ligament pain. Mine quite often felt like a bit of a pulled muscle but I think it you Google it people can feel it in quite a number of ways.

LemonyT · 24/01/2022 10:13

Hi ladies, happy Monday!

So I weighed myself last night. And I don’t know whether to be happy or scared that I’ve barely gained a pound (0.5 kg). I’m 18 weeks today (according to my nhs scan) and by this point I would have expected more weight gain?

I was normal weight and bmi before I was pregnant and I’ve been eating normally - even maybe a little bit more junky thank before. I had only occasional nausea in trimester 1 but never enough to stop me eating properly, so I’m a little shook. I also def have a much thicker waist and a small bump. But my midwife has never weighed me or measured me at either of my appointments :( . She didn’t even listen for the heartbeat at my 17 week appointment.

Is anyone else not gaining weight?

paintfairy · 24/01/2022 10:27

@LemonyT did you weigh yourself at any point between getting pregnant and now?
Prior to ivf I know what I weighed. I have absolutely no idea how (I haven't eaten less and I'm not sick) but I lost weight. I'm still now (14 weeks) weighing less than when I started the ivf, by about 3lb. I originally dropped 6lb! In which case by 18 weeks I probably won't weigh any more than I started out at? 🤷‍♀️

LemonyT · 24/01/2022 10:51

@paintfairy I know what my starting weight was as my ivf clinic weighed me. And I know I weighed the same-ish at some point in my first trimester. So I don’t think I ever lost weight. I wasn’t worried In the first trimester as I heard it’s normal not to gain weight. But this is the first time I weighed myself since and I guess I’m just worried that in the second semester I haven’t gained much. I def feel like I’ve gone up a few dress sizes and my boobs have def gone up in size!

LemonyT · 24/01/2022 10:55

I even thought the scales must be broken and made my husband check his weight, which was usual.

TheSnufflet · 24/01/2022 12:44

@strawberrysummer19 I'm heading off to ASDA tonight - if I understand you correctly, I should size up a lot in both the back size and the cup? My sports bralettes are not doing it for me anymore. TBH, I feel like I have quite a noticeable little bump now so I need to get some mat gear pronto!

@2mumlife hope everything goes well at your scan today Smile

@LemonyT @paintfairy I've literally put on about 6kg from starting IVF to getting weighed at the 13w scan the other day Shock

LemonyT · 24/01/2022 12:58

Good luck @2mumlife!
@TheSnufflet I was expecting to have gained at least a few kilos by now. If I don’t see any change in the next couple weeks I’m going to make a point of it at my 20 week scan Confused

Donimo · 24/01/2022 13:51

@LemonyT I am only 14 weeks (so behind you) but expecting twins. So I already have an obvious bump, started finding out my old maternity clothes on the weekend as struggling to fit into my jeans and jumpers now. But I have actually lost 3kg (6.6 pounds) in the past month. I was weighed at my booking midwife appointment on 21/12/21 and reweighed myself on the hospital scales at work last week. However I have had bad sickness and only really manage 1 meal a day. I keep getting told by all the doctors the babies take what they need and not to be concerned.

Starbeach · 24/01/2022 14:50

@Novavee same here bambino would not keep still seen their bum loads ha ha!
